Oh Gwyn - Me, me, me *waves hands in the air*

I'll have one (or more if you can spare them) of your lovely milk bottle tops.

And, would I lead anyone astray? (Not sure about BC though)

Could be a bit prickly this, maybe we should be wearing our tin hats!!!!

See you at the crossroads at 12 then (sounds like a cue for a song).

Beverley Report 18 Aug 2010 11:34

See you at the crossroads at twelve
All wearing our new tin hats
Pink cowboys have been discarded
But only temporarily, that’s a fact
All wearing our orange togs
Trying to avoid flying hedgehogs
Daffs Army are on a manoover
Well, it beats using the hoover
Our orange badges we wear with pride
I'll meet you all inside

xx

I may be a little late getting to the crossroads as I am on riot control with gr/sons at the moment but as soon as I am relieved of this duty I shall be on my way for some armlifting exercises.
I have been adding some extra bling to my uniform which is washed, pressed and all shiny bits highly polished.

Just reporting that I shall be applying for 1 weeks leave from the 28th as we are off on a jolly holiday with family.

Sorry I was AWOL yesterday but gr/son broke his specs so we were on an important mission to get new ones sorted so he can see where he is going.

MrDaff Report 18 Aug 2010 12:56

Wmsl.... well, I shall have to just sit in the guard room awaiting a phonecall from social services and my mum's Alzheimer memory nurse... *sigh* my dad is playing up... they are trying to discharge him into the care of my mother... but dad has been officially declared mum's carer and pays the allowance regularly into the banks of William Hill and Coral. My sisters have colluded, and agreed to him going home. They work, and have their own families, and can't be there all the time. Nor can I.

I have, with my brother, declared matriarchal and eldest child/son (in my brother's case) rights, and said that neither of them will be safe if he is allowed home, that she is not fit enough to be his carer, and the stress would tip her over the edge. Sister had told them she had vascular dementia (Ann, the scary one, lolol)... I pointed out that she takes Aricept. Which is for Alzheimers. Deal done. They can't let him out until there is a multi disciplinary team meeting, with my mum's needs being put forward as well as my dads. And my mum has appointed me as first call for the Alzheimer's team. I'll get the ball rolling, and then it will have it's own momentum to keep it going without any help from me.

I am furious with my sisters, to be honest with you.

Who would have families??

I am off to have a cooling shower, I have been on the phone since 9:30 and am almost all talked out.

Sorry to whinge.... but I feel better for letting off steam.... and if I do this myself, I will know it is done properly. My sisters know only the hospital side of things... they have never been directly involved in a multi-disciplinary task force meeting in their lives... they have just taken the care plans from their line managers and put them into practice. Not one of them has been to ask my mum's specialists if she is able to care for him.

Grrrrr.

Thanks for listening.

Love

Oh Daff, you really do not need this stress do you? Well, maybe it occupies your mind but it can't be good for you. as you say, who's have families. Trouble is theya re used to you making decisions so that when let out on their own they don't think! Even as a lay person my first thought was, before your post, how on earth is your Mum going to look after your dad when she needs looking after herself? And your Dad must also be aware of that. Presumably he thinks that he wont need care.

JustGinnie

JustGinnie Report 18 Aug 2010 13:12

Oh Daff as if you don't have enough to think about, I know where you are coming from regards siblings and parents I had very similar issues with mine. Glad you have your brother on your side. Your mum wouldn't be able to care for your dad and as you said it would most likely mean she became worse if she tried.

I used to say of my sister for all her intelligent she lacks basic common sense in regard to everyday care of parents (both with dementia) and their ailments which were quite a few.

hope you are feeling better after your shower.

Sending some hugs{{{{{ }}}}}} over to you.

Lol Ann... my dad? Think? No, he is a selfish bee.... he is upset because he shares a room with three other men, one of whom snores. He is upset because he can't bear to sit still unless it is in a bookies or a bar. That is why he had the accident in the first place. So he is thinking of his own needs and wants, not anyone elses. He has always been the same. He felt he needed a holiday so he left my mum for two weeks... didn't even let any of us know at the start.

I have spoken to everyone I need to speak to... and know that she will not be included as a part of the care package, now... they will either have to provide help and support, or he stays right where he is.

Now I need to phone my mum back... and then a long lie down in a darkened room, lolol!

MrDaff Report 19 Aug 2010 09:38

Morning all.... damp and dismal here, but my mood is a lot sunnier, you will be pleased to hear, lolol

Dad will have a limited package of care... male carer to help him get dressed and undressed (that will drive him nuts for starters, lol) and help preparing a mid-day meal for the two of them.

This help will be re-assessed in two weeks, as by then he should be far more mobile. He had a partial hip replacement, and he had an epidural... they had him up on his feet the day after his surgery. In fact, he says it is less painful than it was before he broke it.

My sisters are each taking a day or so annual leave/compassionate so that they will also be around, and they have co-ordinated that. I have sent over soups, chilli, and spagh bol that was in the freezer, so that can be heated up as they want it, and the girls are also sending hot meals over.

The hardest part for him will actually be that he can't get out and about. He hates staying in, and knows all the bus routes all over Wales, lol... he goes off somewhere almost every day on the bus, or up to the village to meet up with his cronies. He gets really uptight and nasty when he is confined.

I might take him up Caerphilly Mountain and leave him to make his own way back, lolol

So, I am chilled now, and will relax all day. I am going to google some stuff, then I have some forms I need to fill out and which I have been putting off.... and R bought me two new puzzle books yesterday, so I have those to play with as well, so plenty to occupy me.

Love and ((((((((((hugs)))))))))

Well BC I was at some crossroads somewhere or other. Didn't see you there and got some funny looks, could it have been the clashing of orange and pink and all the glitter that made that car leave the road and drive into a field? I don't know. The passengers and driver all got out and ran as if they'd seen little men from space!!

Anyway I trailed back home on my own.

Quite bright here today, line of washing out, case quarter packed, spare room full of things to pack, long list of things to do so what am I doing on here.

Grandson got bcdd results for A levels. Don't ask which for which subject I haven't squeezed that info out of him yet, it is like pulling teeth. I do know he didn't get the grades for Nottingham which were two bs and a c but I think he has got Winchester.

Oh SM Daff - what a taskmaster you are. Hiking up the Carefilly (sp) Mountain then hiking down again. Boy, I'm glad I'm not in your battylion. What? I am in your battylion?

It was bad enough yesterday finding those crossroads and nobody there. Not even a flying hedgehog. Maybe I had the wrong crossroads too.

I think these manoovers need to be better co-ordinated. And what's the SM doing? Puzzles? Typical!!

Hope all is well Daff, and ~~~~ to all.
