Oo-er Daff,
Good morning. Dry here today, bit abit breezy and on the cool side.
But.....
I have found a new interest, and must tell you about it. We went, yesterday to view a garden, which was open to the public,to raise money for several cancer charities, under the NGS scheme (Yellow Book) here in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
It is just ordinary people opening their gardens, providing a cuppa, charging an entrance fee - £2.50, and having plants for sale which they have cultivated.
OH had asked me what I wanted to go for, and I said, well I might get some ideas. "Yeh, havn't you got enough of those", he asked. You can imagine my reply. LOL
So off we toddled. Saw loads of ideas both plant wise and structurally. There was plants I have never heard of. And, of course, there was a sale table. Will not say how much I spent, even though it was for a good cause, but I got loads for my money.
Next Sunday there is one open, friends of the people from yesterday, near the home of the 'dirty dog' not my words, Lord Byron.
Can't wait, beats just 'taking it easy on a Sunday afternoon'
Off to do abit of planting.
Speak soon

Spending virtual money is the best way Daff!!!

There is quite a chilly wind out there today. Been round for the papers after cleaning the bathroom, then called in to Evergreen GC for a coffee, that made me walk the long way round, all I bought was slug bait, one I haven't tried but says suitable for organic gardening, harmless to pets, birds and children. Just hope it is harmful to slugs and snails as they are starting to munch my hostas.

Julia, we had a phase a few years back of visiting the yellow book gardens, don't seem to get time now, always doing something else on sundays which is when they are usually open. We did see some lovely ones though.

Good morning everyone, just popping in quickly. I have loads to do, and have only just woken up. Someone had their dog outside most of the night... on the other side of the copse, but still loud enough to disturb. They let it in at just after 7am, or at least that is when it stopped barking, and that is when I finally slept... so I am shattered, as well, lol

The weather here is the same, Mummo, and it threw it down last night, as well. At least we are let off the watering today.

Off I go to work, lol...... please, someone, send the mountain rescue to well, rescue me, lol ;¬))

Love

Quite chilly here today, took my car for MOT this morning and waiting for the call to collect it (fingers crossed). OH's car goes for MOT on Thursday, aren't we lucky both in one week? Not very well planned.
Anyway, then we had a coffee with our friends and since we have been back I have planted the few fill in plants we bought on Sunday. Busy busy and I want to make some cards, Son's, our not now quite so littly, OH and eldest grandson plus a friend's 70th all in July.
And I am, trying to think where there is a photo machine as I have to get a photo driving license because of THE birthday I have this year.

Afternoon all and hope the sun is shining brightly on everyone. Quite warm here at the moment and I am feeling more normal than ever. Wellll nearly normal....lol....Last night I even had a glass of wine with my food! I had a foolish moment and invited the Dragon to lunch for Monday. She said yes very quickly. But what happens if she falls on my steep stairs outside!! Or worse still, if I have to give her a piggy back! pmsl...Ah well it is in the lap of the gods....*dreams of retirement......

Mwahhh for now. BCXX

AnninGlos Report 15 Jun 2010 21:34

Gone quiet on here, can't believe Daff has gone quiet so she must just be making a noise elsewhere.
Ooh that was brave asking the dragon to lunch BC, maybe you had better pad the stairs, or stand at the bottom to catch her. I'm sure all will be well, just don't give her any of your Baileys or you might have to carry her home!

I have been alternating between busy and comatose, lolol

I have been on the Big Gun painkillers.... and they are so powerful.... but I start the steroids again tomorrow, so hopefully I will be leaping around like a puppy by Friday and not hurting so much. The Big Guns are a lot like guzzling a large glass of of wine quickly.... you know how it goes straight to your head first, and seems to hit your stomach a good while later? I am permanently like that... slightly sozzled feeling. And yep, lots of noise from me, llolol

Yes, you are brave, BC...... I have a little trampette thing that you could put at the bottom of your stairs. The Dragon might find that entertaining if she does fall, and bounces back again ;¬))

~~~~~~~ to Mummo, Julia and Maz.... I am off to beddy byes now
Nite all
Love and ((((hugs)))))
AnninGlos Report 16 Jun 2010 08:50
Wouldn't you think hospital appointment services existed for your convenience????
My right hearing aid has stopped working, hearing services used to be a drop in clinic but they IMPROVED the service by making it appointment only. they give 2 phone numbers and an e mail (Obviously because people like me sometimes find the phone difficult). So I e mailed this morning. This is the e mail reply I received.
Thank you for your email.
I wish to inform you that this mail box is not manned by any particular member of staff and you may experience a delay in receiving a reply because of this.
If you have not received a reply in 2 working days, please try again, or contact us on:
Hearing Services in Cheltenham: ***********
Hearing Services in Gloucester: *************
Thank you for your patience.
So what is the point of e mail contact if nobody responds to it????
Rant over but I am cross!
Oh, manners! Good morning, sunny day, blue sky here.
AnninGlos
AnninGlos Report 16 Jun 2010 09:04
Oops. I apologise to them, they have just phoned with an appointment for Friday.
ButtercupFields Report 16 Jun 2010 09:23
Lol Ann you wasted your ire! Glad they sorted it out for you, must be so annoying not to hear properly. I have almost no hearing in one ear but seemed to have adapted over the years but there are some circumstances where I am lost! Any idea where I can send a pair of digital hearing aids not need by the dragon? I was sure I knew some place who could re-set them and use them.
And a Good Morning to Daff and I do hope you are feeling much better today and that the sun is shining for you and everyone else. A bit cloudy here but I have a few days off so plan to go to Garden Centre although am not sure I can fit any more into my little patio. It is bursting!
Off to park. BC XXX
BC I think the hospital hearing services will always take them back if you can't find anywhere else to take them. It is very strange with one aid, up until about 2 years ago I only ever wore one aid in my right ear, then I started wearing two and adapted to it, now it is the right one that has gone wrong so I am having to adapt to the left one only. Luckily I can still mostly hear OK. They did check that it was only one that had gone wrong. Luckily T was here to take the phone call.
Good morning to All, our weather is lovely here.
BC, I too am going to the garden centre this afternoon. But, never say you cannot fit anymore in. That is my motto, and I am sticking to it.LOL
Have a good day all
Julia in Derbyshire
PS for our Daffers when she gets here. Whilst walking my estate this morning, tea in hand, I discovered no less than three plants where they should not be, the seed obviously dropped by the birds, in my gravel path. Upon inspection, as one has flowered, I think they are the, wait for it, WELSH POPPY
I am now going to pot them up,so that Molly's big feet do not flatten them, ready to put in a new border I am about to create, and to remind me of all you lovely Welsh people on here.
MrDaff
MrDaff Report 16 Jun 2010 12:47
Afternoon all...... beautiflly sunny here... I am all over the place, lol I have given son a list of jobs to do.... and to my amazement, he is doing or has completed them all, and very well, too. He is cleaning the bathroom at the moment....
He was up at 9:30 and not in the slightest bit grumpy, either, so has been really pleasant company. He drove me in to Cardiff, and waited to take me back, then made me a cuppa and a sandwich without me even asking him to... and he is whistling. So it looks like my sunny natured baby is slowly returning, at long last. I love him to the stars and back, but the grumpy version has been a little difficult to live with at times.
I started back on the steroids today, so by Friday I shall feel like a five year old, lol.
Julia, I sooooo agree, there is always room for another plant, somewhere!! Have a lovely time at the Garden Centre, later. And that is lovely... a Welsh poppy to remind you of the Welsh GR'ers, lol In my garden, I have lots of plants that were either given as gifts, or the seeds were, or I bought because they reminded me of people on here. I think of Huia every time I look at my New Zealand Holly... it went through a very bad time for a while, and is now beginning to flourish and thrive, just like Huia, as well., ((((((hugs)))) for her.
I have Lilies in a pot, about to bloom, and they were a gift last year from the lovely Taff... plus my wishing well, which Littlie loves... she throws pennies into it every time she visits. And the seeds are now stunning plants!
Then the poppies, remind me of Jude, plus she sent me some thistle seeds, and they are doing so well.
The miniature roses sent by all those who contributed to a collection for me, when I was taken ill, are still doing well, and two are about to bloom again. The other has lots of buds, but is a bit slower.
The Rowan reminds me of Jac, who suggested it... this one isn't a *normal* Rowan, but has masses of white and pink flowers, and then the berries are a beautiful pearly pink later.
And everywhere I look, I see Ann in Glos, lol... her garden was the inspiration for mine, although mine looks different, I have used the same principles. Plus I have been gifted hellebores, violet, grasses (Ann, the Niger has a a baby, as well, lol) lots of little shrubs I forget the name of now (little green and white leaves) and the deep dark red/bronze, erm, can't remember that one, plus the sedum that started life in her dad's garden and is thriving in mine... and cranesbill, and the beauty of them all... my lovely, stunning patio rose, chosen by T, and I can't remember it's name either... gone, mind is a blank. 17 roses in bloom this morning.... and lots more to follow. It was still blooming at Christmas, as well, a lovely deep apricot. I absolutely love it.
It is so lovely to have a garden like that... two of my ramblers were bought for my Granddaughters. *sighs happily*
So pleased you got the hearing appointment sorted, Ann..... I can only clean my cooker when I am cross..... in fact, that was how I used to channel my anger..... mmmmmm, maybe I should start whipping up the ire, myself ;¬))
BC, I am still high as a kite... on the Big Guns, but by tomorrow it will have eased, and I should be getting lots of energy back. My friends will be here about lunchtime tomorrow, so that will be good, and they are very easy company. If she even looks like raising an eyebrow at the mess, she'll get a duster and the vacuum cleaner thrown at her, lol
~~~~~~~ to Maz as she flits in and out...... nearly the summer holidays, Maz, shall we start a chuff chart countdown?

~~~~~~~~ to Mummo, as well, plus some (((((((((hugs)))))))))
Right, off to have a second attempt at Domestic Goddesswomanship.
Love
