Daff great news about bloods and platelets, far outweighs the bad news about your photos. However I know how devastating that can be. T thinks they may be able to retrieve them from somewhere or other. And, like Jean I have some of the photos you have sent of the moon. When you say the hard drive you downloaded them to they are not there, do you mean a proper external hard drive or a flash drive? If the former take it to the IT doctor and ask if they can fine them on there. We couldn't find ours one the external hard drive, we could only find programmes but they have to be there somewhere. I download my photos onto discs.
Nice to see the family, waiting for daughter and sil to get back from grocery shopping before going to M&S (the big one at Hedge End).

Hiya Ann.... glad you are enjoying yourself..... wish that lad of yours a happy birthday from me and R, would you? xxx thank you...
The gizmo I have is red (lol) about the size of the little Letts diaries, and it is referred to as a Portable Hard Drive (WD My Passport Essential)
It is really strange, because the odd photo from the files has made it's way onto the drive... so something has prevented the others from downloading... or hidden them on it somewhere. I have been into every area I could find a file, just in case it had got itself hidden in amongst the *command centre* so to speak.... but thanks T... I hadn't thought about taking the hard drive to be looked at as well, so will do that. I always did download my photos onto discs... in fact, until last summer, when I got the hard drive thingy (I call it my notebook because of it's similarity to the Letts diaries, lolol causes no end of confusion, so it does!! *smiles benignly*) All the girls' early photos are downloaded at least a dozen times each, lolol..... I bought this so that I would always know which photos contained the pristine copies for future use... as I know that images can downgrade the more you copy etc
R has buried his head in the sand and said he will look at it... a bit like he will finish the kitchen, and the bedroom wardrobes, and the bathroom, lolol.... I shall wait until he has gone to earn a crust next week, and sneak off to PC world, lolol.......
Right..... R is now in the land of the semi-living... halfway down his first coffee and ciggy break... another ten minutes and he will be ready to stop with the neanderthal and start with something approaching normal speech and communication, lolol ;¬)) I am like Littlie.... I hit the floor running in the morning (unless I am aching these days!!), but fizzle out by mid afternoon!
Have a wonderful day
Love

Afternoon one and all!
Well it's taken me ages to read back a couple of days (that's all I had time for) but I'm delighted with your news Daff and that all seems to be going extremely well with your continuing good health.
Sorry to hear that Littlie has left you but she'll be back soon enough I'm sure. She sounds a delight, she really does.
Also sorry to hear about your lost photos - hopefully a clever computer dr. will be able to find them for you. No good asking me, it takes me all my time to find the on/off switch on here! One thing that did strike a chord with me, when you were all talking about putting photos on disc as back-up, my OH has recently joined a Photographic Society and one of the more experienced blokes (well, a professional photographer actually) did mention that some discs deteriorate after time and bang goes your backup! I'll have to ask him what sort of discs dont deteriorate and get back to you all. What the devil is happening to this box???? jumping around like Jack Flash.
Brother well ito chemotherapy and seems to be responding well, so fingers crossed for him please.
This s driving me wappy, so bi for now, all take care!

Jac, several people are complaining about a jumping reply box, I think you need to add your protests to their with GR who seem to think it is everyone's fauly but theirs. However I have not suffered it yet, I am on firefox.
Daff doesn't B have a friend in IT? T is not keen on going to PC world, he doesn't think they are good enough.

Jac, I had heard that CDs last only 2 or 3 years. I think that is disgusting in this technological age. Anyway, I have had some for longer than that. I am trying to hedge my bets with external hard drive as well as CDs/DVDs and emailing some of the old ones to relatives so they have copies and have put a lot of my photos on another website that I am on.
A couple of days ago I bought 10 CDs and 10 DVDs and I couldnt get any of them to work when I wanted to put photos onto them so they will be going back to the shops where I bought them. A couple of DVDs that I had bought a year or 2 ago worked alright so it is not my CD/DVD burner that is at fault.

Morning all, I am just having my second breakfast. Was up at 4am to walk DIL to coach to get to the airport. Doggie was a bit surprised to get her morning walk so early but went along with it! lol Had a lovely few days and M went back with a load of clothes and I went with her and encouraged her and sat down a lot!
Am now expecting another friend for lunch so will bid you all a good day. Cold sunny day here.

Morning, had a lovely day yesterday put Ed and wheelchair in the car and went up to Portsdown hill, stopped of at the Churchillian pub and had a lovely lunch (Eddie had rib-eye-steak and l had a lovely gammon ham omelette) while looking out over all of Portsmouth, the sun was shining and was nice to get out for a while but time we got home poor Ed was tired out and had to go to bed ( mind you l went back for a hour also, lol.) Staying in today and cooking a loin of pork roast and just having a lazy day.

Afternoon all....well, has it been as beautiful a day in your neck of the woods as it has been here? Gorgeous!!
Mummo, glad you had a lovely time out yesterday... and I'll be right over for me dinner, lolol!! ;¬))
BC... 4am!! Mind you, I was awake then as well, but not for long... a quick pit stop, and then a snuggle back into bed and straight back off to dreamland.... woke early, though, and hit the floor running.
Ann, yes... he is going to visit later on, and will be taking my pc with him.... not until after he has talked to Littlie at 7, though. Did you have a lovely meal out last night? And did you need your thermals? It was quite chilly here, with a sharp frost.
Huia and Jac... I know... that is why I am usually pretty good at backing up my photos, often when I don't know where I have stored the previous back up discs, lol.... I shall do it every time now... but I also do a complete back up again on new discs every couple of years... my older granddaughter's birth and Christening photos were re-backed up for the third time in November, when I had a massive tidy up of my stuff... and she isn't 5 until the summer. But I had been neglectful, and hadn't backed up all the Christmas photos.... well, I thought I had. But I have been having problems with my pc for a while now... hubby was going to get me a new one for Christmas, but I preferred to have the camera. But this pc is just 2 1/2 years old, so should have a bit more life in it yet! Oh well.. maybe for my birthday....
My cooker is making the most dreadful noises... the fan is on the way out... not bad, it is donkeys years old, and was a freebie for me from Freecycle 18 months ago, to see if I would like a built in oven.... and I wouldn't go back to a low one, now, so I think a new oven is on the cards soon....
~~~~~ to Mamiddau... how did the eeg go?
Jac, I keep your brother and your friend in my thoughts, regularly, pleased everything is well under way for your brother... the sooner it is all over and done with, and getting on with the business of building himself back up again, the better.
Today I have stripped the covers off the sofas and washed them.... they have dried outside on the line, so I am sure they smell wonderful... I have taken up and put up one silk (faux, not real, lol) curtain... but can't find any more curtain hooks, so haven't put the other up yet... *sigh* wonder where I stored those? lol
I have cleaned the fridge... made a big pot of scrummy soup with the veg that was in there, and added some chopped bacon and lentils... it is gorgeous... then I washed the bedspreads... they have also been out on the line...... and the conservatory floor is clear of debris, floor vacuumed and washed.... Littlie's bed stripped, bedding washed, ironed and on the radiator airing... and her bed has been re-made ready with the other set (Peppa Pig, Ginnie, lolol)
In between, I have sat down lots, and added photos back onto my pc from the discs... I still can't get the little hard drive thingy to work, but it is working on R's pc, so there is still something not quite right with mine.
R is cooking dinner... and I have been ordered out of the kitchen and into the conservatory to play on the pc, lol!! Not that I was in the way or anything.... no no no no!! I was just supervising, that is all.........
The sun is still shining... and all is well with the world... spring is here, today, and it feels sooooooo good!!
I had visitors yesterday... my sisters and my mum.... they got stuck into the homemade chicken soup, and have all taken a big container full each home with them.... well, my mum took two smaller containers, which added up to more, but she is thrilled with it... they all like my soups, one sister makes the best curries, another the best roast dinners, and another likes to think she is Nigella, but she so isn't, lol.... the last sister (not the youngest) makes fabulous all round meals, but rarely did, as she managed to get herself invited to everyone elses, lol.... not any more though.
They stayed for 5 hours... unusual for the sister in charge (well, she was the driver) as she gets restless usually... but we had a hoot... it was lovely, the four of us doing a *grumpy old women meets Loose women* impression, lol
Poor R and B hid upstairs... just coming down to replenish tea and coffee cups at regular intervals to keep in our good books!
Well... I can hear little grumblings and moanings coming from the kitchen... think I shall go and investigate........... I won't interfere, I promise ;¬))
Love to you all
Yes, beautiful day in Hampshire and lovely here too although very cold.
Had a lovely weekend and an enjoyable meal last night. The food was excellent, it was very cold every time the door opened which, as it is very popular it did often, but we enjoyed it and daughter paid!! Grandsons and their girlfriends were good company. Funny though, the youngest grandson who tends to be 'gobby' has a tall slim attractive and quiet girlfriend, very pleasant but reserved. Oldest grandson who is very reserved has a girlfriend who is very bubbly, nobody could call her quiet and nobody could call her slim either, very pleasant though both of them.
And today I got to Hobbycraft and got some stickles (and a few other bits of course).
We have had a beautiful day here as well done a bit of weeding and Oh has built a little wall around a small flower bed.
Peppa Pig reigns, Daff. our #1 grandson was Thomas the Tank Engine mad at one stage and he had various bed sets but funnily the grandaughters never bothered with anything like that 2 of them just hated pink and the 3rd was a pink princess lolol.
Ann, I think that proves the saying 'opposites attract' it wouldn't do for 2 really bubbly talkatives to be together, neither would get a word in and vice versa for the quiet ones lol
take care all and ~~~~~~~~~ to everyone
Morning everyone...beautiful but blinking freezing here this morning!!
Where did that weekend go? It has just zoomed by!
I have a list as long as my arm to do today... I have to cut it in half, and then cut it in half again, physio's orders.
So my response? Yeh.... add extra to the list in the first place!! I didn't realise I was doing it... R has pointed it out to me... sarcastic so and so.... ;¬)) Those of you who have met him will know how quiet he is... but how well he does with a single succinct comment! I shall put something nasty in his sandwiches, if he isn't careful..... which is what I am supposed to be doing now, making his sandwiches for work... he'll get them next Monday at this rate, lol!!
See you all later... I am most of the day in here, although I think I shall have to go out and buy some curtain hooks. Living room looks a bit lop-sided with just one curtain up at the window, lolol
Daff, will you slow down, you make the rest of us feel exhausted. Aah but what does the list consist of? if it is cutting sticking and glittering I will let you off!!! Long lists are allowed if it is all enjoyable stuff.
OH has gone to golf and will no doubt now be waiting for the frost to clear before they can start. I have a wash load in, have letters to write, scrap pages to do etc but hopefully will get a bit of a walk in the sunshine in when I go to collect the papers. It is cold here this morning but very bright.
Good morning BC, glad you are refreshed from your sleep.
Morning Ann and BC.... yes, my list has been whittled down to mainly *sitty down* things, lol Not by me, might I add.... I think R was a school teacher in another life!!
I have a message from B... his friend has suggested a programme to download, it does a diagnostic first to tell you if you will be able to retrieve anything... if it can, you buy it.. but he said that if you have a lot of treasured photos and stuff, then it is well worth having it anyway... or at least I think that is the gist of the message... so I shall have a look at that in a moment. Plus I haven't put Kaspersky back on... I downloaded a free version of AVG. I think Kaspersky is a brilliant programme, but is quite difficult to understand... and I reckon that some of my problems with the photos were to do with the settings I had on Kaspersky.... only I don't understand the destructions and the manual is about 10 inches thick... so I haven't a clue what I was doing wrong! So I want to play around with that, too.
Then I have those two scrapbook pages to finish, one is almost done... just need to decide if I just want to frame it totally with woven ribbon, or just the lower right corner....... and the cats are moulting for Europe, so I will need to throw the cleaner at the carpets..... a bit of washing or I shall run out of clean towels.... and the curtain to put up... plus I want to go and spend an hour pottering in the garden in the sunshine... some bits are beginning to look much tidier now, and are showing up the rest. But.......... I didn't cut anything back in the autumn... and I think it was all the brown, sorry looking dead stalks and suchlike that acted as protection for the plants during that bad spell.... and it would seem we may be having another little freeze-up, so I ought to leave it, really.
The daffs are about to bloom though, and I can't see them properly. *sigh* I have a fuzzy head today, and can't seem to make decisions, lolol
So I am trying to be good, Ann, honestly!! What is it about that first spring sunshine that gets you wanting to spruce everything up??
BC.... you needed your sleep..... compensation for the shopping trips... did your dil get back safely?
Maz, it is supposed to be going into another very cold spell........ brrrrr! As if we haven't had enough!
~~~~~~~ to Ginnie....
Right.... cuppa, and then get started......
Love

Hi, Daff, I am like you so many things I wanted to do, but so far none of them!! I tried doing some cards at the weekend, but just couldnt get going ,I also needed to check my sewing machine , and the blessed thing is playing up, so I have made a decision, I am doing nothing about it till I come back off my break in Llandudno, but I have managed to make a soda bread....just going to have a slice with a cup of coffee.....btw, My older Camelia is looking very sad, leaves are curling a bit and the buds are not getting any bigger my daff one is looking very healthy, and has fat buds on... I wonder if the old one is affected with the busy main road, and the fact that traffic stops at the traffic lights, I may move it round the back of house were the other one is.... off to have my bread...
love Jean ,xx

*grumps and harrumphs*
I paid for that photo finding programme ages ago.... I have the receipt from PayPal sitting happily in my e-mail account... and the programme to find me my photos still hasn't been up (or down... whatever, lol) loaded into my account. I am so narky!!
Grrrr!!!!
I have found the new packs of curtain hooks. In my knicker drawer. Why I stored them there, I do not know. But at least they have been safe. Even if I did find them after I froze half to death pulling the shed apart looking for them.
So far today I have completed nothing.... absolutely zilch.
I might go and eat worms! lolol
