Mo in Kent Report 29 Nov 2013 18:28

Sallie, they are leaving at midnight tonight. Lilly will be able to sleep in the car fortunately, just as long as she is not sick again, or else the car will be stinking by they get up to Scotland. lol
I bet you and Jenny had a lovely time in Derby. It's great to have a mother and daughter day every so often.
Take care my love Mo xxx

Sallie Report 29 Nov 2013 16:15

Hi Mo, glad to hear that Lilly is better today, hope that she is alright at nursery though. When do they go up to Scotland? I just hope that Lilly will be a lot better if they decide to go, as it is a very long journey for them if Lilly isn't really up to going.

Sorry that your cold is not getting any better.....yes we have to suffer a long time and it has to develope into an infection before the doctor will give antibiotics, unfortunatley. Hope that it will start improving over the next couple of days.

It was good to hear that your nephew is getting on alright and that they are keeping a close eye on him. It's nice that he is able to get on with his life as best as he can.

Shame your team lost last night.....never mind there's always the next match to look forward to and to beat that team.lol!!!

Jennie rang me this morning to see if I wanted to go to Derby with her, she wanted to have her hair cut and buy something for Michael for Christmas, so of course I said yes......I had intended today to cacth up on some of the jobs that need doing here.....oh well there's always tomorrow.lol!!

Looking forward to seeing my cousin and her daughter on Sunday....Jennie and Michael have decided to come with us now, at least Jennie can share some of the driving with Alun. Jay ( their dog ) is spending the day at Michael's parents house, as it will be too long to leave him on his own all day.

Well I had better go and get started on a couple of jobs before it will get too late.

Hope all our friends on here are all okay.

Thinking about you all.

Take care.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Yes Sylvia, Marks tumour was was discovered following an eye examination.
He had been having headaches for a while, and thought he just needed new glasses, but no it was worse than he thought.
The specialist keeps a constant check on him, giving him regular scans to see if it has started growing again.
Unfortunately, he has lost all sense of numbers, and cannot add things up at all, but he can remember things that even his parents had forgotten.
They don't think he will ever be able to work again, as his attention scan is quite short.
But he is a happy lad, who loves his young son to bits.
Thank goodness you got the o.k from the doctor re your B.P and stool sample, and that things have started to look up for you healthwise.

Sallie, I wish this darned cold would shift, but the doctor won't give any biotics for what they call viruses, so I just have to grin and bear it for now.
We lost at darts last night...boo hoo, but we were playing a team that are top of the league, so we didn't expect to win over them.
Daughter in law says that Lilly is better today, and has sent her to nursery.
I am having doubts, as she wants to go to Scotland for a family wedding, and just hope and pray that Lilly really is well enough for the journey.
I know that children bounce back pretty quickly, but this is very very quickly, considering Lilly was so unwell yesterday, and not able to keep any food or drink down at all.
I sound like a nagging MIL don't I, but I don't mean to be, just concerned for our little one.
I hope you have a nice day at your cousins house on Sunday. Have a safe journey my love.

Oh Oh, time for my paracetamol, and a cuppa, so I will say tatty bye for now. Hugs Mo

Hi Mo, and everyone

I went for my 6 monthly check-up today, just to my GP ........ the docs were happy, and don;t want to see me for 6 months ............. ie, the next check-up.

They were even happy enough with my bp, which is a bit higher than they would prefer, but it is steady and not bouncing around!

I think it is not so much that any of the docs missed my sis-i-l's brain tumour, as the fact that it s still small, although a lot of swelling around it ......... thus any symptoms have only just appeared.

Mo ...... your nephew probably had a tumour that developed in the brain. I understand that these are easier to deal with than ones that have metastasized from a cancer in another part of the body.

My stool test, which I did back in August, is clear. So no worries there for me :-)

take care everyone

Hi girls, nice to see you all ' chatting ' away to each other, it's lovely to see the thread moving along.

Mo, sorry that you have a bad cold sending you lots of hugs and hope that it won't last too long.

Poor Lilly, hope that she is feeling a bit better this evening....little ones always seem to pick up quite quickly, thank goodness. Well let's hope that she will be a lot better by the weekend.

Did you manage to get to the darts match tonight? If you did, I hope you and your team won.

I can't get over that your G.Granddaughter Zoey is nearly one, it makes you wonder where the time has gone.

Ann, I had forgotten that you and T are going to your son's for Christmas, this year.
It will be nice to see your son and his family and spend a bit of time together.

Alun and I are going across to N E Wales on Sunday just for the day, it's the only time that we and my cousin can make before Christmas to exchange presents.

It is the first Christmas for my cousin since she split up from her husband, he went to live with someone else......so I am sure that it will an emotional time for A, they had been married nearly 25 years.

Well Michael saw the Consultant from Derby today, he has to go for a CT scan within the next couple of months and then go back to him for the results. He told Michael that if it is what he thinks it might be he will have to have an operation.

What I can't understand, is why he has to wait so long for a CT scan. Mind you , I have more faith and much prefer the Nottingham hospitals than the ones in Derby.

Jean, the die cut on the card is white on a blue backround, it has two houses each side of a church with fir trees and branches of a tree running across the top. Hope
I have described it okay for you.lol!!

Did you manage to get the card done with a fancy top? It will be interesting to see it Jean..... if it worked out alright, I'm sure that it will look pretty.

Glad that you are staying with us for at least another six months.

Shaun on the Welsh thread, was saying today that he had bought 36 second class stamps and nearly colapsed through the floor when he came to pay the £18 for them.

As you say Jean, it seems a very long time since Marie has posted on here, I hope that she is alright.

Sylvia and Huia, hope that you are both alright.

I'm ready for bed now, so will say goodnight to everyone.

Take care.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Oh what a shame you wont be seeing Luke Ann, but then there is always next year.
This will be the first year that Lilly actually knows who Santa is, and she is nearly three.
Up to this year she has been more interested in the wrapping, that the presents came in.
Mind you, I think that that is a typical thing for the really young ones.
Our G.Grandaughter Zoey will be nearly one by christmas time, and to be truthful, I don't know where this past year has gone, she seems to have gone from being a tiny tot, to an enjoyable little smiler.
Must go and get ready now, so cheerio for now. Mo

Sending ((((((hugs)))))) and sympathy for the cold Mo.

Poor little Lily, they do catch these tummy bugs don't they. But they also usually bounce up quickly again. They just need to watch that she doesn't get dehydrated which is why they have suggested diaorylite. Hope that works for her.

Good luck with the darts.

Luke won't make a lot of difference to our Christmas as we won't be seeing him, we have delivered their presents. We will be with our son and family in Milton Keynes this year.

Mo in Kent Report 28 Nov 2013 15:27

Oh Sylvia, I had to laugh at your story of the sensor. We had the same problem when ours was fitted by our son, the problem was that the sensors were also fitted on the landing, and every time Roly or my son got up to use the bathroom, the alarm went off.
That was soon changed believe me, I got fed up of being woken up by their bathroom habits. lol
In a way it's understandable that your sis IL's tumour was missed, the symptoms are very similar to a stroke, and both affect the brain don't they.

Sallie, I am afraid we all slow down the older we get. It was like when I was doing the painting recently, it seemed to take me twice as long as it did when I was at work. I would do a days work, come home cook a meal, then start painting, but now I am worn out just thinking about what I want to tackle, and by the time I get round to it, I don't even want start.
I hope Michael gets on alright when he sees the specialist. And it's such good news about Jennie.
I am sorry to hear about your brother in law, it must be so hard for Aluns sister, the same as it has been for our Huia with Phil.

Jean my lickle flower, what would I have done, if you had not renewed your membership on here, I would have cried my eyes out....booo hoooo. Seriously my love, I am so pleased you are staying. Even if I have to behave myself :-D :-D :-D
I am always good anyway. :-P :-P :-P

Hi there Ann, how the devil are you and T keeping, it seems ages since I spoke to you.
Are you looking forwards to christmas this year, with having little man around for his first Xmas will make a lot of difference for you all.

Our Lilly is not at all well. She has been unable to eat or drink for the last few days.
Whatever she eats or drinks she brings back up very quickly. Her mummy took her to the doctors this morning, and he has told her to give her paracetamol for the temperaure, and diaralite to settle her tummy.
They are suppose to be travelling up to Scotland this weekend for a wedding, but the way things are going, they wont be able to go. They can't have little one being sick in the car, and it's just not fair on her being so unwell.

I want some sympathy PURLEEZE, I have got myself a rotten cold again. Why is it I always seem to suffer. I am hoping to feel well enough to go to darts tonight, perhaps I can give this darned thing to one of the opposing team. (Nasty girl thats me )

Take care girls, hugs Mo xxx

Good afternoon friends

Sylvia, I replied about your sister in law on the Welsh thread. It is a shame that the brain tumour was not picked up before.

Mo I am pleased that Florence is staying upbeat, it must be a really unpleasant place to have a tumour, not only very painful but disfiguring too. So she is doing well to remain fairly cheerful. I hope the treatment continues to shrink the tumour. I am so pleased that it has not spread to her throat.

What a truly horrible disease it is, and all the money spent on research with some cancers being no further forward.

Sallie, I hope that they can sort out Michael's problem with his elbow.

Jean, glad you have renewed for another 6 months. :-) :-)

Hi Sallie and all, I cant remember which card I sent you Sallie, tell me what the front is like then I can tell you what the die is, I have been trying a little experiment,
I have used a corner die to make a fancy top on a card it sticks up bit decorative, I will take a pic when I have tried some more different styles, then you can see what I am waffling about....

hope you are all keeping warm , I wish we could hear from Marie, its ages since we heard how the move went, by the way you have me for anothe 6 months, so Mo you still have to behave ;-) ;-) thats if I last that long :-D :-D :-D

Sylvia, so sorry to hear about your sil. our love and prayers go to the family and hugs for you and your oh....

Hi girls, hope you are all alright. I have been busy trying to get all the presents and cards ready for Christmas, time seems to be flying by, just wish I could stop it for a while so that I can catch up on all the jobs I need to do. I think the older I'm getting, the slower I am doing things.lol!!!

Sylvia, so very sorry to hear about your SiL.....just can't understand why the hospital didn't pick it up before now. I hope that she won't suffer too much having her next lot of treatment. Sending her lots of positive thoughts. <3

Also hope that she will be well enough, so that your daughter can visit her.

It's very good that your friend is going out and getting on with her life. At least she is taking an interest in different things, and of course it's good that she is making new friends so that she has more company. Well done to her!

Mo, glad that you and Roly were able to visit Florence, and that she seemed bright enough. Please give her my best wishes.....thinking of her. <3

I'm pleased to know that your nephew is able to get on with his life, a few years down the line. <3

So Lilly did remember seeing Santa in Harrods....I thought that she would, bless her. She is at the interesting age now isn't she? Alun was saying that when they have a layout at a M.R. show, the little ones love watching the trains, he says their little faces are full of wonder watching them.

Huia, so glad that you enjoyed your visit to see your son and daughter-in-law. It's nice to sit and catch up with all the news, isn't it?

I hope that Phil is improving from his operation . Such a shame that he had to have his toe removed, but I'm sure that it was for the best.

Alun's sister rang two nights ago, and she was saying that her husband is now starting to have trouble walking.....he always liked to go for a walk with Lynda, in the grounds of the home he is in.....but now has to go in the wheelchair more often than not. If you can remember, he is the one that was diagnosed with Alzheimers
when he was 58,he is now 67, not old really.

Jean, where are you? I hope that you are alright. Thank you for your lovely Chtistmas card, it arrived on Monday. I love the die cut out on the front of the card ....which die did you use? Also hope that J, D and the rest of the family are all alright.

Marie, if you are looking in, hope that all is well with you and your family. I seems a long time since I have ' spoken ' to you.

Ann, hope everything is alright with you and T. Glad to read that you enjoyed a couple of days away visiting your family.

Jennie went for her usual check up at the hospital today, everything is fine, thank goodness.

Michael goes to see the Specialist about his elbow tomorrow, so hope that they will sort it out for him, as it's 11months since fell and hurt it and he's still having problems with it.

Anyway girls I'm off to bed now, so I hope that I can get to sleep.

Take care everyone.

Speak to you all soon.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone

All the scans she has had, and she has had a lot, concentrated on her torso.

It's not supposed to go to the brain, at least not so fast.

It was only when her right arm and side went "strange" last Thursday that there was any sign ................ and event then the docs were thinking heart attack.

They have moved fast .................. she was only at the docs on Monday, and in the town 400 km away on Tuesday morning having the brain and spine scan.

My daughter phoned this morning ......... she wants to see if she can arrange a "long weekend" trip over to see her aunt. That depends more on sis-i-l than on getting plane tickets.

This time, she'll leave the kidwink with his father.

A VERY rude awakening this morning

The motion sensor went off ay 4:30am

I was at the bedroom door before I even opened my eyes :-D

Turned out that OH had heard the smoke alarm go off in the basement .............. through 2 closed doors, 1 room and the enclosed stair well. So he had got up without waking me, and gone to investigate.

However, he had forgotten to turn off the motion sensor, so he put one foot on the little landing at the turn of the stairs and .......................

Neither of us went back to sleep after that ................. he had set his alarm for 6 am 'cos he had to be out of the house by 7 am, and we were so worried that we wouldn't hear the alarm!

Take care everyone

For crying out loud Sylvia, why the bleddy heck was your SIL tumour not spotted before. (Sorry I tried not to swear out loud)
If they are giving her chemo, how can the three months prognosis be right.
My nephew who is still in his 30's, has had an operation to remove a cancerous tumour from his brain a couple of years ago.
Agreed he is still under the hospital for check ups, but he is getting on with his life as best as he can.

How sad for you and your OH, it's been a terrible year all round hasn't it.

My friend started her chemo last monday, and we popped in to see her today. She seems bright enough, and the tumour does appear to be shrinking. But she has lost the ceptum (sp) from her nose, so we are not sure if they will operate to give her a new one after her treatment is over.
The scan they did to check her throat was thank the lord clear, so at least it has not spread down there.

Well my lovelies, I hope that as we have not heard much from you, that you are all well.
Sending loving thoughts to, Jean, Sallie, Ann, Huia, Marie, Joyce and all our friends.
Best wishes, Mo xxx

can I swear??????????????

we've just heard that my sis-in-law's cancer has been found to have metastasized into her brain.

She has been given 3 months.

They are going to give her 5 days of radiation in an attempt to reduce the size of the brain tumour. Then she will go home and will start a course of chemo. There will be another scan after that to see if there has been any effect.

Good lord Huia, is it really four years that Phil's been in the home, how time flies by.
Dont work to hard my love, just enjoy your day. Hugs to you, Mo

Huia

Huia Report 24 Nov 2013 19:17

Yes, Mo, I realised it was possibly the after effects of the op. I certainly don't get upset about him. At his age I feel that there is really nothing I can do, and he is in good care. He has been there for a bit over 4 years now, so I get on with my own life in between visiting him to show I still care for him, even if he doesn't know me. (Or does he?).

My co-worker might come in to the shop today, if she is feeling up to it. She has been told she will slowly come right.

I want to get the large copies of my photos for the camera club printed this morning, before I go in to the shop at lunch time, so I had better get a wriggle on.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 24 Nov 2013 18:22

Oh Huia, I am so sorry that Phil looked so poorly. It is probably the after affects of the operation.
Lets be honest, the older we become, the longer the recovery period is. Bless him, he probably doesn't realise what has happened to him.
It's very hard on you love, isn't it. Remembering all the good times you had together, and to see hime how he is now, must really hurt you. Life can be so cruel, but he is happy in his own little world.
How long has Phil been in the home now Huia, it must be a good two years surely by now.
How was your co worker when you visited.
I hope you had a lovely time with your sister. How is she doing?

Well our day with Lilly went well. I asked her about her having seen Santa, and she was full of it. I was surprised that she only received an umbrella as her girt.
Admittedly it was one from the disney shop, so was obviously wasn't that cheap, but they charge enough for entry.

Jean my love, thank you for the lovely christmas card. It arrived in the post yesterday

Our car went in for repair yesterday, but has to go back for more work to be done tomorrow. Oh boy, all this expense just before christmas, is something we could have done without. But the car is an essential for us, poor Roly cant walk very far before he is in agony with his hips and knees.
And as for getting the shopping in, it's a nightmare. It's surprising how we take the car for granted, and just load the goods in without thinking. But having to carry it home, is a blessed nuisance.

I will say cheerio for now girls. Sending you all my very best wishes, mo xxx

Huia

Huia Report 22 Nov 2013 20:05

Hello Mo and all.

I arrived at Phil's home at 12.45pm, and they brought his dinner just afterwards, so I fed him the first course. Even though the food is pureed he spends an age munching on each mouthful, so it took about 45 mins to finish the first course. Then a carer arrived to see how we were getting on, so I suggested she finish feeding him the sweet course, and the drink, and I left to come home. When I had arrived I thought Phil looked ghastly, in fact at first I wasn't sure it was him, but then he had been in hospital for the operation, and at almost 84 yrs old it is not surprising.

On the way home I stopped in to visit the woman who usually works with me at the hospice shop, as she has not been well. I think she is getting stir crazy from staying at home, but she should slowly recover, and is talking of coming in to the shop next Monday. Tomorrow (Sunday) I am going over to North Shore to visit my sister and take some things to her.

Huia.

Hi girls, how are we all keeping.

Huia, I had a look at your super photo's on FB, they are great. How did you find Phil on your visit to see him.

Well it's the weekend again, crumbs where does the time go. We have got little Lilly tomorrow, so I am interested to see if she remembers seeing father christmas in Harrods on Tuesday. You know what youngsters memories are like, they can be very fleeting at that age.

Bye for now girls, take care, hugs to all, Mo xxx
