Mo in Kent Report 7 Feb 2014 20:34

Oooh Elizabeth, what an interesting thread you have started about pre decimal coinage.
Very often my OH and myself try to relate back to those days, but have to give up, because it depresses us knowing how much things have increased in price.
My children would get sixpence pocket money, and were able to buy enough sweets to last them a week.
Try giving a child the equivalent these days, and it's impossible. Even ten pence wont buy them sweets.
I missed Tony Robinsons channel 4 programme, but it sounds like it was very interesting.
I have never been excavating, but I used to like going to churches and doing brass rubbings, and looking round graveyards at old head stones, seeing how and when people had passed away.

Well my lovelies, have a great weekend, stay warm and most of all dry. xxx

Dear Ladies

Hello to you all.

It was lovely that you added to my post about the half pence piece.

Have you done excavation work for coins?

It was great shame when the programme with Tony Robinson on Channel 4
ended.

I really enjoyed the dig he and others did on a street in the East End and there were many surprises and the nice thing was everyone was included and could learn abut the history of their neighbourhood.

With very best wishes to ALL of you.

Take gentle care of yourselves
Love Elizabeth,
xx

Hello Girls, how are you all today, I hope that you are all okay. It's been very quiet on all the threads this last couple of weeks. Wonder if all the rain we are having is damping down every ones enthusiasm for chatting.lol!!

Jean, pleased that you have received the dies that you bid for, well done!

I am looking forward to starting to make cards again, shouldn't be too long now.

Tomorrow we are going down to S. Wales for the day, it's my cousin's 82nd birthday so we are all meeting for a meal to celebrate, there will be nine of us altogether, so looking forward to it. Only thing is, that she has dementia, and although she recognises us all, she can't remember any of our names. We thought that it would be nice to celebrate her birthday this year while she still remembers us all, because sadly goodness knows what she will be like next year.

Mo, how are things with both you and Roly? I hope that you are a lot better and that Roly is feeling a bit better.

Ann, I love the last lot of your cards on the blog. Sorry I am not able to make a comment on there.

Sylvia, hope you and OH are alright, and that your leg has healed now. Also hope that things are getting easier for your daughter and son-in-law and also that your daughter is still making a good recovery.

Huia, and Marie, hope all is well with you both and with both of your families.

Will speak to you all soon.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Sylvia, sorry to know that you have had some more worrying news, about your SiL.
I hope that he will get some help him with some of the problems he has. It sounds as though your daughter have had to carry a lot on her shoulders for a long while. Now that things have come ' to a head ' let us hope that things can now move forward for both of them.

So pleased to know that your daughter is recovering so well from her operation and that if she is well enough to go back to work, not to overdo things for a while.

Hope that you and OH are both getting along alright and that your leg is healing well.

Mo, pleased that you are feeling better and that you were able to go out yesterday.
Hope you did well with your darts practice. Also hope that Roly is feeling better too.

Alun has started with another cold tonight, so I am going to try and keep away from him as much as I can.lol!!

Jean, Ann, Huia and Marie, thinking about you all and hope that you are all alright.

Speak to you all later.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Oh my god Sylvia, 9 hours in A+E is horrendous. It sounds like he was going round with his head in the sand for a while, whereas your daughter was trying her damndest to keep things together.
Mind you, with his past history, it's not surprising is it really. Bless her your daughter has had a lot to contend with.
As long as your daughter is feeling fine, going back to work, for a bit of space, sounds a good idea.
I hope things work out for her Sylvia.
Take care. Mo xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone

another worrying phone call this morning!

This time, it was son-i-l who apparently went into a "deep funk", whatever that means, and daughter took him to Emergency at 5:30 am!

She phoned about 9 hours later to tell me the story, and to say they were about to go home. S-i-l had seen 3 nurses, 2 doctors, and a very helpful psychiatrist, who had given him some very good "coping strategies".

I think he is beginning to realise how big are some of the marital problems, and he doesn't have the ability to deal with them without retreating into himself.

She said he was much better after the talks, and they are both planning to go back to work tomorrow, even if for only part of the day.

She herself is recovering well from the operation.

On a more cheerful note .................. it has been a lovely day here. The sun came out, and the sky was blue. Unfortunately, it was only about 3C :-(

Take care everyone

Jean, I did put Vic on his chest, and the soles of his feet, but Vic found it uncomfortable, and asked to get off. lol
Now since when have I ever behaved myself, apart from when I am poorly, and feeling sorry for meself.
The trouble with me onesie is, that every time I need the loo, it's a darned nuisance keep having to take it off, to spend a penny.

Aaah Sallie, poor lickle dog, no wonder he is frightened when the winds ablowing like it has been lately, it's enough to scare the life out of even the bravest human being, let alone a poor animal. He just wants extra cuddles from his new mummy and daddy.

I do hope the rain holds off tomorrow, I want to get out and about in the fresh air, rather than having to stay indoors because of it being so wet outside.
We had lovely sunshine this morning, but by mid afternoon it had turned cold again.
I couldn't take advantage of the good weather, as we were out with friends up at the club, as usual practising darts. Mind you, it doesn't make me any better, so I don't know why I bother. :-D :-D :-D

I hope everyone is keeping well, Ann, Sylvia, Marie and our Huia, take care one and all. Love and hugs, Mo xxx

Huia, sorry that you are still feeling very tired, as the others have suggested it might be a good idea to and see your doctor. Maybe that you are suffering from anaemia and need some iron tablets.

As Mo said, this is not like you at all, you are usually so busy and go out and about quite a bit. Take care of yourself.

Jean, thanks for the pics, they are gorgeous as usual. Gosh you are a busy bee making all those cards. I haven't made any since before Christmas, ooh you put me to shame .lolol!!

Are you going to put them on Ann's craft site? It will be lovely if you do, although I can't see them on there anymore, as I lost all the photo sites I had when I changed my laptop.lol!!

Mo, it's been blowing a gale here today too. As you know we now have J&M's dog living with us, as there are no animals allowed in the flats. Today, he has been a bit of a pest ( in a nice way ) he has been whining on and off all day with the sound of the wind, he keeps thinking that there is somebody outside. lolol!!

I hope that Roly will feel better tomorrow, as Jean said rub vic on the soles of his feet.

Nice that you had Lilly, your daughter and great granddaughter there today, as you said, it kept Lilly amused for a couple of hours.

Right girls I will say bye for now, will speak to you all tomorrow.

Huia Report 1 Feb 2014 22:09

Actually, girls, I did go to the doc about 10 days ago as I had a constant headache. I had thought I had a cold but when the headache went on so long I got fed up with it. Doc decided it might be a sinus infection so I had a week on antibiotics. The headach seems to have eased up, only the occasional touch. I have spoken to docs before about this sleeping problem. As I have said, if I go out for the day I don't seem to feel so tired, so I think some of it is boredom. I will get on top of it some time.

Hello ladies,
Huia, I am sorry you are not up to par, as has been said before, perhaps you do need to see the doctor, to get yourself checked over as a precaution.
You normally get yourself out and about most days, this is really not like you at all my love, so please see your doctor.

Ann, we didn't venture to the shops today, it has been ferereezing and blowing a gale.
We had Lilly today, and had to keep her entertained in the house. Fortunately for us, our daughter came over with our great grandaughter, and that kept her amused for a couple of hours.

Roly is still suffering, he has been fine most of today, but now he's feeling under the weather again, oh well, more paracetamol and honey and hot lemon I suppose.
Got my nurses outfit on, and the maids apron on top of it, we wives have to multi task don't we LOL

Well I will say bye bye for now ladies, hugs to you all, Mo x

Huia, it sounds to me as though you should have a blood test at the doctors, I wonder if you are anaemic? It is not normal for you to be so tired, you normally seem to have more energy than most of us?

It is bitterly cold here today, went to Cheltenham and luckily missed the coupld of showers we had when in shops/restaurant. crowded in there today. Mostly we had blue sky and sun. Ham egg and chips and onion rings for lunch!!! :-)

Hello girls. I am still in the land of the living, but still get so tired at times. Last night I went to bed just after 11 and fell asleep without the aid of a sleeping pill, but I woke up about 3 and a half hours later and couldn't get back to sleep so got up and took half a pill and read a couple of chapters of a book before going back to bed at about 4.30. I didn't wake up until just before 11 this morning! After a late breakfast I was feeling tired again so at 12.30 I lay down on the settee and slept for another 2 hours. :-0 I do wish I could get back to 'normal' sleep patterns. If I go out during the day I seem to survive alright without a sleep, don't even feel sleepy. I have been going to the shop on a Thurs afternoon as one of our ladies usually goes in then but she has had an op and will be out of circulation for 6 weeks. The shop will be shut next Thurs though for Waitangi Day.

Hello my little darlins, it's good old Mo here, back to pester the life out of you all. lol
I think I shall have to invest in a pair of fishermens waders, if this wind and rain carries on the way it is.
The river Yalding nr Maidstone is on flood alert again tonight. The poor people are having a nightmare time of it.
One household had their white goods ruined during the last flood, and had been and ordered new, after the insurance company took their time settling the claim, and guess what, it is due to be delivered today, just in time for more flooding to occur tonight.
I think if I lived that close, I would be tempted to move upstairs into the bedrooms, and have all the white goods installed up there. lol
We went to pick our Lilly up from nursery today, as mummy is not to good during this pregnancy.
I picked her coat up, and she picked up, what I presumed was her back pack, a lovely mimmie mouse one.
When we got her home, her mummy said whose is that bag, oh oh, naughty little minx had told me it was hers, and I had taken it home with her.
Some poor child will be so upset, to find that their back pack has gone missing. Mummy will take it back on Monday, thank goodness.
I wouldn't mind, but the bag was on lilly's coat peg,and I naturally assumed it was hers....stupid me for believing the little fibber, she must have wanted it so badly. lol
She is always getting bought new things by her other Nanny and aunts, so no wonder this old girl got confused. :-S :-S :-S

Well I will say goodnight god bless, from a wet windy soggy Kent. Hugs to you all, Mo xxx

Hi Jean, good to see you on here, hope all is sorted out for you by now. Do the cards look nice made with the Tonic die? I can't wait to use the new one I've got, it shouldn't be too long now.

Alun has had a trip to the A&E at Nottingham this afternoon. Our friend's daughter had an appointment at the optician today, and they told her that she was bleeding behind the eye and that she had to go straight to the University Hospital to A&E, with a letter to give to them. S was frightened that it was something serious and got herself into a bit of a panic.

After the three of them spending 4hrs there, as they had to go down to the eye clinic, where she had to have two lots of drops put in her eyes at different times, she was told that it was something that was common and that some people don't even know that they got it....trouble is she couldn't remember what it was called, except that it was a short lettered name and that she will have to take medication for it. They are also sending her an appointment for a CT scan for about two weeks time.

While Alun was at the hospital, J and M took me for a run to Dunelm., they wanted to look for something they needed. I only had a look at the craft stuff, as usual, but there was nothing special there.
I was going to buy the new Creatitiviy magazine, but with it now being £4.99 I felt that I would be wasting my money. I know that they had two free gifts in it and some free paper, but it wasn't what I would use.

Mo, hope you are feeling much better now. We miss you on this thread.

Ann, I think I read on one of the other threads that you have been busy making cards.

Sylvia, hope that things are back to normal now for you and OH.

Marie, hope that all is going well for you and your family. How is your grandson settling down in Melbourne.....hope all is going well for him.

Huia, hope you are alright, I expect you are busy in the shop.

Speak to you all soon.

Love, Sallie.xxx
