Hello girls. I am still in the land of the living. As you will see from my new avatar I met up with 2 cuzzies and their hubbies on Sunday. One cuzzy is from Australia, I have met her twice before. She was flying on to S America later in the day. The other cuzzy is a kiwi and I know her well. We had lunch at a café. I chose soup with bread, as I don't eat a lot of lunch. The soup was very spicy. I managed half of it and could feel it in my innards for the rest of the afternoon. *note to self, avoid anything that might be spicy*.
When the others went to the airport I decided to visit Phil since it was not too far away. He had his eyes open and when I stood in line with his eyes and said 'hello Phil' his eyebrows went up briefly, almost as if he recognised me or my voice. But he doesn't seem to be able to talk now and soon he had his eyes shut and probably went to sleep. He has a chest infection which the home has been treating with antibiotics for 2 or more months now, but his breathing sounded a bit harsh to me. I left after 20 mins.
I went back to Papakura and did a little shopping before coming home. Yesterday (Monday) I went in early to our Hospice shop and trimmed some cards and cut them into strips for the pricers to cut into single tags to put the prices on. We now have bar coding and have had to learn how to use the scanner, but we have to put our password in before each sale, which is a bit of a hassle. I make some mistakes and have to call for the boss to correct them. My partner on the till made a worse one and lost the picture on the screen. The boss had trouble getting things back so she phoned the helpline, but just then she got it right. I keep saying 'I'm resigning' but I guess I will get there some time. Just remembering to do the right things in the right way, that is the problem, although there is a card there giving instructions, but it doesn't give them all.
A belated happy anniversary to Mo and Jean. This month it will be 55 yrs since I married, but I no longer think of it as an anniversary since Phil hasn't lived here since shortly after our 50th.

Hello girls, Before I go any further, can I just say many many thanks for the lovely cards, they are absolutely wonderful. It's surprising how hard it is to find a decent card for a 50th anniversary. Our family couldn't find a card for parents on their 50th, and even Roly and myself found it hard to find some, with nice words in them.
Many congratulations to our lovely Jean and J, who are celebrating their anniversary today. I do hope you are both enjoying a wonderful day.
Sylvia, I do hope the rain cleared all the snow away for you. I know that you have to keep your paths cleared, and it will save you both the job of doing it. Fingers crossed, we haven't had any of the white stuff yet....(says she with her fingers crossed behind her back)
Once again, many thanks Jean, Sallie and Ann for the beautiful cards. It's time for dinner now, so I must say cheerio for now. Hugs Mo xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone
we got up to snow this morning .................. about 2cm that fell between about 6 am and 8:30am
then it stopped ....................
and it is now raining
yesterday it was dry, but a bitterly cold wind.
March definitely came in like a lion!
We have our main meal in the evening .............. and it is roast pork for us tonight
I wonder if we will have leeks tonight????
OH went into the garden yesterday afternoon, and dug leeks to have with last night's turkey sausages ................. our nod to St David's Day :-)
take care everyone

Hi Mo, and everyone
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, MO AND ROLLO
for tomorrow :-)
it's a lovely sunny day here :-)
but the "s" word is in the forecast for the weekend :-(
We've had another offer on the cabin ............... this one wants us to carry the mortgage for 2 years. That's not unknown over here, and would be all set up legally by a lawyer, and the buyer would be just as carefully checked out. But it does need thinking about!
Apparently he really, really wants the property, can pay a good deposit, but can't get a "normal mortgage.
Ann .............. glad that you are feeling a little better. Those coughs are a nuisance, aren't they?
take care everyone

Thank you girls, for the lovely cards, and best wishes. We start to celebrate tomorrow, after many years of disagreement on the dates lol. 50 years ago tonight, we were at the cinema together, and at 1.30 p.m tomorrow we at the church taking our vows. Our daughter is taking us out for a meal, at an eatery that we have not been to many a year, so fingers crossed it is still a good one. As for last nights escaped at the dogs.....well, my three legged dogs did quite well, but I did not come home with my purse bulging with money, I believe I broke even, but it was a lovely evening all the same. Thank goodness the weather held...not that it would have made much difference as we were in the covered area. But we didn't really want to see the poor dogs getting soaking wet, just to please some punters. The whole evening only cost us £6.00, and that covered our entry fee, a free drink of any type, a meal (I had sweet and sour chicken with rice ), and the first bet free. And we were home by 10 p.m, so not to late. Mind you, by that time the temperature had dropped to 3C, boy was it chilly.
Got to be up early tomorrow, Lilly is descending on us for the morning. I just hope this rain clears up by then, so that I can get her out into the garden.
Take care everyone, hugs, Mo xxx

Happy anniversary Mo and Roly, I think it is really the 29th isn't it? Hope you have a wonderful day whenever you celebrate.
Sallie, the cards are lovely as are Jean's thank you both.
Lack of sleep with this cold and mainly the cough really wipes me out. We have done the Tesco shop today and I tried not to breath on anyone. thankfully I didn't have a coughing fit in there and only sneezed a couple of times when we were in the computer inl isle and nobody around. I also didn't touch the fruit/veg so hopefully I won't have spread it too much. Cough doesn't give any signs of going at the moment, not too bad during the day but as soon as I lay down at night it starts so again I spent all last night sitting up in the spare bed. At least I've found a use for the fruit tea I had in the cupboard (unopened), it is a refreshing hot drink and quite soothing. :-) :-)

Hope you are feeling at least a bit better today and feel like doing a few odd jobs. Take care of yourself.

Mo, hope you have enjoyed yourself at the dogs and hope that you backed a few winners. Also hope that your leg is feeling better and not giving you any trouble.
Sylvia, so sorry to hear that the sale of your cabin has fallen through, it's so disappointing for both you and OH and also the other couple, I'm sure.
Also sad to hear that your neighbour of 40 years died yesterday, at least he is at peace now. Feel sorry for his family though, losing their loved one.
Ann, it was a shame that you could only manage to stay at the show a couple of hours, as you had looking forward to it for a while. But as we all know, home is the best place to be when we are feeling poorly. Hope that you are feeling a little bit better since you have been home.
Glad that you had the emails ok. Don't worry about putting the cards on the blog, there's plenty of time. Just make sure that you feel better before you put them on. Anyway, thank you in advance.
Jean, have you had a busy day making some more cards? Hope everyone is alright with you. Did you manage to get your hair done the other day, as you hoped to?
Alun and I thought about going to Derby today, but changed our mind, so hope to go tomorrow instead. I really need to get my hair done, so hoping that the one, Lisa that I like to cut it will be there tomorrow. She has been off for a few weeks, as she has been to New Zealand for a holiday, lucky thing. I would love to go there for a holiday, especially after seeing the photos that Huia has taken. Oh well, we can all dream I suppose, can't we?
Well ladies, I will say bye for now and take care everyone.
Speak to you all tomorrow.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone
Mo ......... enjoy going to the dogs ;-)
Ann ......... so sorry to hear your cold is bad. Hope you feel better soon!
Actually, it isn't up to us, or even our agent, to find out is a potential buyer is "qualified".
It's up to their agent to make sure that his clients are serious buyers.
The onus is always on the buyer to check everything is fine with the property, house, access .............. and their mortgage
I think our agent and ourselves were a little wary all the way through ........... everything was so hurried from them, and we were waiting to see which reason they would pick for backing out!
I heard this morning that our long-time neighbour across the street (almost 40 years!) died yesterday :-(
He had been in bad health for several years, and "waiting to go" for at least the last couple. So it will be a release for him, if not his family
take care everyone

Good luck Mp, hope the one you pick is the fastest.
Cold is still no better, in fact I reckon it is worse. Once I start coughing I can't stop. And as for stress incontinence, what with sneezing and coughing I might as well spend all day sat on the loo!!
We did go to the craft fair though, only managed two hours (including coffee) as I was wiped out by then and wanted to come home. Spent about £30 (Sallie I listed what I spent it on, on the craft thread,
Sylvia, shame about the cabin, but you will know next time to find out if they have asked the right questions. Good practice as you say. I think you may have sent your snow this way as we have been warned of snow tomorrow.
Jean, I think i still have some of your cards to put on the blog. Maybe tomorrow when I am more with it (I hope). :-) <3

Hello my dear friends, Sylvia, what a shame about the sale falling through, but as you said the agents should have been aware of the pitfall before bringing the prospective buyers to view. A big dissapointment, for both parties. Keep your chin up love, someone is bound to turn up soon.
This is just a quickie girls, as I am going out ay 5.00 p.m, to the dogs. I want to see if the dog I backed last time is still running round the track. lol I know it's am early meeting, but we don't have a darts match tonight, so we are going, in my place, to waste me money on three legged dogs. Tell you all about it tomorrow. Bye my lovelies, Mo xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone
well, we had about 12 cm of snow by Monday evening :-)
Then yesterday and today (ie, Tuesday and Wednesday) have been gorgeous .............. foggy in the early mornings, but sunny during the day. The temperature is still only about 4C though, so there are patches of snow still lying around.
The sale of the cabin fell through ......................... our realtor called both the potential buyers AND their realtor "naive" ..........
they had planned on putting down a 10% deposit, and then getting the rest from a government programme called CHMC
Unfortunately, for them, that programme is only for buying a principal residence, nor recreational property!
Their realtor should have checked that with them before putting in the offer ........ it's known as "pre-qualifying" to avoid wasting everyone's time :-D
Never mind, it was a good exercise for us to go through, as we have never actually sold any property before :-)
take care everyone

Hi girls,
Mo, isn't lovely being able to dry two lines full of washing out in the fresh air.....I love watching the clothes blow on the line, they smell so fresh too.
I hope that you are looking after your leg and rest it as much as you can. It's so simple and quick to injure a leg, but it takes a long for it to heal and get back to normal. After eight weeks I still have a bit of a problem with leg, still not walking as I use to and most days I can feel my knee cap move to the side which is still giving me quite a bit of pain. It's a blinking nuisance, stopping me from doing some things that I want to do.
Glad that both you and Roly had a lovely day with Lilly yesterday. It's nice and so much easier when they are very good for you. Makes you wonder why they have a strop on, when their mum returns. We have had the same happen with us when we have looked after Jennie's friend's daughter.lol!!
Ann, sorry that you have a bad cold, I hope that it will be a bit better for tomorrow, for the craft fair. Enjoy yourself as much as you can, and hope you find lots of lovely goodies to buy.
Certainly agree with you about how model railway exhibitions seem to bring out the weirdos.......there were several at this one .lol!! Must say, the old man was the worst of them,
I have made the cards ready, just waiting for Alun to take photos of them and will send them on to you.
Jean, I love your cards, they are lovely as usual...... I really like the flower shaped card you made. Did you buy them that shape or have you got a die so that you can cut them yourself?
Pleased that the electric in your house is now back to normal after the weekend. You have certainly been busy making cards, it's good that they have ' gone from under your feet ' too. As you said, you will have to get cracking to make more now.
We went to Hobby Craft and the Range yesterday evening, I needed to get some ribbon, gems and card, managed to get what I needed between the two places, thank goodness. I am now getting back into making cards again, so would really like to visit the craft shops in Derby. Might go tomorrow, as I need to get my hair done, so I can do both things there. Just hope my leg won't cause any problems. We usually go on the bus, but I think we will go in the car this time.
Sylvia, hope that everything is alright with both you and OH. Have you had any more snow over the last day or two? I hope not.
It has been quite spring like here over the last couple of days, which is lovely, but it's early days yet.
Huia, how are you? Hope that you are alright and are getting out and about. Have you managed to visit Phil over the last few days?
Marie, haven't heard from you for a while, just hoping that you and the family are all okay.
We went to Asda this evening to do our usual weekly shopping, it was very quiet there and there didn't seem to be as much on the shelves as there normally is. It looked as though a lot of things they had out on offer, was what they find hard to sell. Also had the more expensive goods for sale rather than the cheaper ones.
Some of the 'offers ' they had was where they were making you spend £3 for two just to save us ten pence, a bit of a con. Really fed up of them this evening.lol!!
Well. I am going to have a hot drink and then I think I'll go to bed.
Chat to you all again soon.
Take care everyone.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Jean I hate going out when I have a cold as I moan at other people for spreading their germs but we have paid for tickets for the show and sadly they are dedicated to Thursday. You used to just get a ticket to use on any of the 3 days but not now. I guess they lost customers on wet days and got overcrowded on good days.

Well I now have a stinking cold. Just hope I stop sneezing by tomorrow or I shall not be popular at the craft show.
I nearly got my washing line dried, it was lovely and sunny, then there was a cloud and a shower, which I just noticed, dashed out and got it all in and hung it in the conservatory, and the sun came out again!!! Still it did dry in the conservatory.
