Mo, I'm so sad to hear about both of your friends, it must be so difficult to be strong and positive for each other. Have they got any family living near them?

Shaun, you are welcome, only too pleased to help you start along the road to card making.

Thank you for the lovely Thank You card that you made, I got it in the post this morning. Well done on what you have made so far.

Hope that both you and Mrs Shaun are having a good day so far.

Bye for now everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hello folks,
What sad news about Marilyn, but bless her, she is now pain free, and at rest.
She was such a lovely friendly lady, who would help anybody be it researching family trees, anything at all, was no bother to her at all.
Rest in Peace Marilyn.

Ann, I am so sorry to hear of your SIL's cancer. He is being very strong, and with determination, he will make it through to October, and beyond that, god willing.

Roly has just come back from visiting two of our friends, who are husband and wife, and both suffering with cancer.
M has it in his bladder, and B has it in her pancreas. Both are being treated at home, as per their wishes,by the Mc Millan nurses, but god forbid, it is only a matter of time before we lose them both.
It's high time there was a cure for this damned disease isn't it, they have been researching it for years now, and have not as such, found a complete cure.
Sorry, rant over.

I hope you are all keeping o.k, and are enjoying good weather.
It's wonderful here in Kent at the moment, the sun is shining, and there is a slight breeze, but nothing to moan about.

Sending you all my very best wishes, Mo xxx

Ann, I didn't know that your son-in-law has terminal lung cancer, I'm so sorry.

I hope that he will feel well enough after the chemo so that he and your daughter enjoy their week's break in North Wales . Also that he will achieve his next aim so that he will be well enough to be able to enjoy his son's wedding in October.
Sending him and his family lots of positive thoughts.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Yes I used to envy her Florida trips too, she used to be there for a few months and always had a lovely time. Just shows that you really don't know what is around the corner doesn't it, at least she did make the most of her life then. Rest in Peace our friend.

What a horrible disease cancer is, and why with all the money collected for research can we not conquer it? Some of you know that our son in law has terminal lung cancer so we feel very strongly about the awful disease that creeps up on you with little warning. He is doing ok at the moment, had 4 cycles of 6 hour chemo and has now dropped to 3 weekly cycles of 10 minutes which they call maintenance. This is supposed not to have the side effects but he still needs to take the anti sickness pills. Mostly between sessions he is fine now on the lower dose and last week did a 4-5 mile walk round Buttermere which he was thrilled about. (He who thought nothing of climbing Haystacks, Old Man etc and walking 10 miles). Today they have just gone to North Wales for a week and I am so hoping he stays ok from the chemo and can enjoy the break. The next aim is for him to be fit for his second son's wedding in October. <3 <3

Morning everyone, quite a dull start to the day, but no doubt it will brighten up later,
Sallie the weather turned quite cold so no walking for me, made cards instead ;-) ;-)
I will take pics and sendthem to you... thought I would try something a bit different, see what you think...

we had our littlie C visit us yesterday , he is a live wire and all over the place now he is walking , he was at the clinic for his first assesment and it seems he should be 15/ 18 months old :-D :-D so looks like we may have a genius in the family ;-) it will be a first for us :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D but he was so at home with us and we had lots of fun and laughter....

I am just watching a programme, Monty Don beautiful gardens, this one is in Italy a lovely place we have visited a few times he is doing various lakes and we have been to some of them, so I have taped it , so J can see it when he gets up...
cant believe we have walked in those beautiful places, how blessed are we :-) :-)
such wonderful memories....

time for a bite to eat and another cuppa so have a good day and take care...

Hello everyone.

Shaun, lovely to see you post on here again, you know you are welcome to pop in anytime to see us.
Hope all goes well with your tests tomorrow, I will be thinking about you. Also thinking of Mrs Shaun.

Huia, glad that you managed to get sorted out at the doctors with your flu jab and could at least ask a couple of questions. It's good to know that you don't suffer anymore from the headaches you suffered with for a couple of months.
Also pleased to hear that you were in plenty of time for your meeting and that it went well. Sounds as though you enjoyed the homemade food afterwards too... apart from maybe eating a bit too much. lolol!!

It was good that you were there when the carer changed the dressing on Phil's, apart from being able to help her, you could see for yourself how Phil's foot is healing.

Mo, have you got a darts match tonight? If so hope you and your team will win.

We have been to Sheffield today and I didn't buy anything......couldn't find anything I wanted. That must be a record.lol!!
Although Alun bought two pairs of trousers for himself and a model railway magazine.....so he did well. It's usually the other way round.

Jean, how are things with you today? Hope you are all okay there.

Have you and J done anymore walking since the other day? If it has been another lovely day there, as it has been here, I thought you might have been tempted to go out for a short walk.

We are thinking about going to Derby tomorrow morning. Need to get a couple of bits and I want to go to Mary's craft shop. Only Alun is at a model railway show in Nottingham, Saturday and Sunday, the club has one of their layouts there, so won't be able to go then.
Since hurting me leg, I'm not confident enough to go on my own on the bus yet, as my knee still tends to give a bit now and again.

Ann, Alun has taken photos of the two cards I made for Richard's birthday on Saturday, if the pics turn out ok, I thought you might like them for your blog.

Hope the weather is nice and sunny for you there, so that you can sit out and relax.

Sylvia and Marie, where are you both? Hope that you are both alright.

Well, I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Did you get my E.Mail with Marie's addy...oh good grief, I hope I sent that to you, and not to Marie or Ann, I am losing it big time by looks of things.

Just a quickie tonight my friends, got darts, so I will say bye for now, love Mo xxx

Huia Report 13 Mar 2014 06:05

Sallie, the doc was running late, so I didn't spend too long on questions. It was just curiosity on my part. I wasn't worried about anything. I also told her that the constant headaches which I had had for 2 months or so had disappeared by the time I was released from hospital. I had my flu jab before I saw her, since she was running late, so that helped my timetable. In fact I had plenty of time. I was able to get my prescription from the chemist and go into the tearooms for a cup of hot chocolate, before going home for a quick lunch (I had taken it with me, expecting to eat as I drove, missing out the home bit) and I arrived at the meeting hall with plenty of time to spare. These country meetings always finish with a cuppa and food. It was a lovely spread (home made). I ate too much of course.

Today I went to the shop at lunch time, had my lunch there, did a little bit of tidying, then went to visit Phil. The carer was about to change the dressing on his foot so I watched, and helped a bit. She had given him some morphine beforehand to dull the pain, but his hands went down when she unwrapped the old dressing and started to remove the scab. I was able to hold his hands out of the way, and when she was putting the new dressings on I held his foot up. It still looks a bit yukky, but then he is not going to be putting on socks and shoes or boots and going for a long hike.

When I got back to Papakura I went to the medlab for a blood test that the doc wanted me to have. The hospital did one but didn't say anything about the results in their letter to the doc. So here I am, 2 vials of blood lighter. But I am fine.

Huia.

Mo, we are back from shopping, everything put away, had our dinner and also called in Jennie's. So we are now having a bit of a rest, Alun is watching TV and I am reading back on some of the threads.

Tomorrow we are going to Meadow Hall in Sheffield, haven't been there since before Christmas, so thought it would make a change. Alun wants a new pair of trousers, couldn't get the size he needed in Derby, so thought we would try Sheffield.
It's an excuse to go and have a look around the shops and have lunch out.lol!!

Ann, hope that the sun will appear again for the rest of your holiday. As Mo said it's nice to have it dry and to be able sit to outside.
It's nice to sit and relax and know that you haven't got things that have to be done.

Jean, pleased that you managed well with your wheelie thing, I'm sure it will be much easier for you when you are on holidays. Is it the kind that has a seat as well?

Huia, hope that the doctor has been able to answer all your questions, and was able to put your mind at rest from any worries you might have had.

Also hope that you arrived on time for the meeting at Mangatangi and that ut went well.

As you said Jean,it's a while since we last heard from Marie, I hope that she and her family are all okay.

It's also been a good few days since I have seen Sylvia on any of the threads. Also hope that everything is alright with her and her family.

Although now I think about it, maybe her and her OH have gone to their friends funeral on the island.

Well girls will speak to you again tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hello all,
Sorry to hear that the sun has been hiding from you Ann. But just being able to sit outside is good isn't it.
At least the only way to get your feet wet, is if you go for a paddle or bathe, not like the horrid rain we had not so long ago, where we had no choice but to get wet. lol Enjoy yourselves my love, the sun is bound to appear soon.

Ann, I am afraid I don't know Maries address, but will send you her E.Mail addy, when I have looked it up. I do know that it has changed though.
Cor you and J were brave going out for a walk today, it's been very chilly here for the last two days.
Hhhmm I do wonder who will win the bet over the car or roof. Either way, it will benefit both of you in the end. lol

Huia, I hope you got the answers you wanted from your doctor. Our Flu jabs are done around September/October/November time, depending on availability.
Since I had my last one done, I seem to catch every cough and cold thats a going.
It's never done this in the past, so I don't know why it affected me like this, this time.

Sallie, are you still doing your weekly shop....the queue must be sooo long, as you left just after four p.m, and you are not back yet. ;-) ;-) ;-) My shopping day, is normally Friday, and it gets so busy, I think the rest of Gillingham decides to go on the same day as me.
I have tried getting bits and bobs on a daily basis, but I still end up having to get loads on Friday.

Right, I must go and find Marie's addy before I forget.
Bye for now folks. Mo

Hello all, hope the doctor can answer your questions Huia.

It has not been so warm here in Spain today, in fact it is the first day since we got here 8 days ago that there have been quite a few clouds around and it has been very windy. We still managed an hour sitting in the sun on the patio but that is all. Not that we can complain as the weather has been very good nearly all the time.
