Mo in Kent Report 12 Aug 2014 21:22

Congratulations Sylvia and OH, on your wedding anniversary. Did you go out for a meal to celebrate ?

A very happy birthday for tomorrow Ann. How long are you away for love. ?

Huia, it's good to hear that Phil's funeral went well. Your definately braver than me, there is no way I would have been able to view the furnace room, it would have upset me to much.

Sallie, it sounds like you had a lovely meeting with the GR friends. How was Joyce? I know that she goes onto Face Book, and plays games, so her brain is working well now, following her stroke. Bless her, we do miss seeing her on here.

Well we have another funeral to attend tomorrow. We are going to wear waistcoats in memory of dear Michael, as he was so well known for his variety of them.
I think we shall look like a field of flowers, with all the different colours being worn.

Night Night god bless everyone. xxx

Thank you. We are down in Lee on Solent. Just been to an Italian restaurant for a meal, the wind is ferocious and the sea is grey and rough. Glad I am not a sailor.

Congratulations Sylvia and OH.

Huia Report 11 Aug 2014 23:35

Yesterday my son, his wife and I went in the hearse, driven by the female manager of the funeral home (she lives down the bottom of our road). We went to the crematorium at Mangere, which is a bit further than the one at Manukau but apparently much cheaper. It is older and the furnaces as slower but I am sure Phil wasn't complaining.

Before he was taken in to the furnace room we were left for a few mins to say our goodbyes and I was curious to see the casket so lifted the drape. It was a heavy type of cardboard, and my son rapped on it to see how solid it was. I told him not to do that or Phil might invite him in! :-0

The man who operates the furnaces asked if we wanted to go in to see it happening so I said yes, although Peter and Linzi didn't seem so keen but went in with me. Linzi was shedding some tears when he was put in and the furnace started up, but I was quite calm. Some twigs of our Kauri tree had been put in with him on Friday. Otherwise that was it.

When we got back to Papakura, P and L took me to lunch and then they went shopping before going back to Rotorua, and I went to work in the shop.

After work I was invited to dinner with one of my workmates so it was a very full and lovely day.

Huia, hope all went well at Phil's funeral yesterday, I expect you are relieved that it is all over with so that you can now move on.
Thinking about you and your family. Huia.

Alun and I went up to Sheila's in Yorkshire for Sunday lunch yesterday, we met up with Joyce, Liz Purple and their OH's and of course Sheila's OH. Sheila cooked us all a lovely Sunday roast and we all sat around the table chatting afterwards, well us ladies did most of the talking. LOL!!

Jean, good luck with your hospital appointment on Wednesday, hope all goes well and that there is nothing too much to worry about. Will be thinking about you.

Mo, Ann, Sylvia and Marie hope that you and your families are all well.

Love and best wishes. xxx

My son and his partner (female) will be coming up from Rotorua for the journey to the crematorium.

Huia

Huia Report 8 Aug 2014 21:13

Mo, it will be Sunday your time, I go to the funeral director's at 11pm your time then he will drive me to the crematorium, probably about 11.30 or midnight your time.

We are 12 hours ahead of you if you forget daylight saving but I think it is 13 hours at present. Later when you switch to winter time and we switch to summer time it will be 11 hours difference.

I had a good sleep last night, tool half a sleeping pill to ensure my brain shut down enough for me to drop off. I don't take them every night but there are times like this when I feel I need to.

Huia, sending you love and prayers, and deepest sympathy, as the others have said relief for you and Phil, try and rest some of the time, just to gather your thoughts, it will all fall into place for you.... I will be thinking of you next week....

Huia, it was sad to read of Phil's passing, but a happy relief for you both. He is now able to go for his walk abouts, something he used to enjoy doing, before the dreaded disease took hold of him.
Stay strong for the tasks that lie ahead of you and the family, I send my deepest condolences to you all.
((((((((((HUGS my love.))))))))) I will be thinking of you on Monday, or will it be Tuesday here in the U.K

I have sent my condolences on facebook Huia but wanted to repeat them on here. so sad to lose your husband of so many years, yet you really lost him some time ago. It is a release for him and a relief for you I am sure that he is now at peace. It was good that you were able to be with him even if you were unaware. shall be thinking of you as you do all the things that must be done but do remember to take a few minutes to breathe and think of you. I am sure that as the days pass you will be reliving happier times when the two of you were young. Hold those times and your love for each other in your heart. <3 <3 <3 <3

I will make a point of seeing you after the elections Huia.. I know you will be busy and we will be putting the house on the market the week after the election.. so I may come up from Huntly to see you.. we are thinking of renting there as a halfway spot between home and Cambridge.
