Hi Mo, as you say, both of you will probably end up having to take antibiotics. Paracetamols and the hot drinks only help to relieve the symptoms and make us feel a bit better for a while, which we are glad about. of course.
Both Jennie and Michael have suffered some sort of virus on and off over the last six to seven weeks and only now it has started to come out on them.....both of them are full of the sniffles and coughs. There always seems to be some nasty bugs and viruses going around this time of the year, leading up Christmas.
I still have a few small things to buy to put in with some main presents, but I don't know what to get.
I was going to start packing them over the weekend, but didn't feel like it in the end.
Hello to all our friends and hope that you all had a lovely weekend.
Will say bye for now.
Take care all.
Love, Sallie. xxx

Sallie. we are taking paracetamol, and drinking honey and hot lemon, but it just wont shift, so it might mean anti-biotics are called for as it's hung around for so long. Well done on the pressies front, you are leaving me behind now. I have still got to get the youngest great grandaughter something else, to finish hers off, and then I am done, but, I just don't know what to get her at the moment.
Cheerio for now girls, Mo xxx

Hi Jean, sorry to hear that J is still poorly with the norovirus, I hope that he will soon to start to feel better.
Ian, one of Alun's mates from the model railway club started with it last week and is still in hospital with it......his wife also has it. Ian was in hospital when he started with it and apparently there are a few other patients on the ward with it too.
Mo hope that you and Roly will soon feel a lot better. Are you both taking anything to help soothe your cough? That's the trouble with these many viruses that are about they not only make you feel really poorly and take a very long time to clear.
Pleased that Roly now has his 'new toy' working, I'm sure that he is now a happy bunny.......these boys and their new toys, I think they are worse than the kids.LOL!!
I bought a few more Christmas presies today, so feel happy about that, another few pressies I don't have to worry about getting anymore.
Well, I will say goodnight to you both,
Take care.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Hello girls, LOL Sallie, our son sorted the Sat Nav out yesterday for Roly. The Nav has to be connected to the laptop, for it to update the motorways and roads. I couldn't believe that it had to update so many, you would think that for it being a new product it would be ready to go, but of course it's not, goodness knows when it was manufactured, and things change every day don't they. Hopefully this way he wont get another speeding ticket, silly old codger didn't realise there was a speed camera, the one and only time he got one in all his years of driving, at least now, hopefully the Nav will warn him to slow down. Anyone would think he was a boy racer at the age of 70 plus, huh thats a joke, but not so funny when he got the £100 fine. What a pity that your brother wont be home for christmas, but you could have a celebration when he does finally arrive back home.
Jean, I am sorry that you and J have been unwell my love. Have you had the horrid virus that seems to be sweeping the country. Both Roly and myself can't seem to shift it, we started with bad throats, head like cold symptoms, and then an awful cough started. We started with it back at the beginning of October, and thought it had gone, but the darned thing came back again earlier this week. It leaves you feeling like a wet weekend, and so lacking in energy it's unbelievable.
A big hello Elizabeth, I hope you and the family are enjoying your weekend.
Take care one and all, Mo

Hello girls, hope you and your families are all okay. Have you all nearly finished your Christmas present buying? Alun and I went to Derby this afternoon and managed to buy a few more presents......think I will have to start wrapping them very soon.
I bought, wrapped and gave my brother his Christmas present and cards off us,at the end of September, as he went to St. Helena, an island in the South Atlantic, on the 9th October and won't be home for Christmas.......he doesn't arrive home until the beginning of February.I wanted him to have something from us to open on Christmas Day.
As you all may know, my brother is a vicar in Abergavenny, and a few months ago he was asked if he would go to St. Helena to look after two churches on the island as the vicar there had broken his hip and was also retiring. So John agreed to go for five months until they find a new permanent one.
My sister-in-law wasn't keen to go, as it is a six day journey to get there, and four of those days are by ship.....she's not a very good sailor.lol!! so she decided to stay at home. They also have two dogs and she wasn't happy about leaving them in boarding kennels for the five months.
Ann, it is only since July when I had my new hearing aids that I have suffered pain from the noises of children screaming, loud music and so on. I thought that perhaps they were set too high, but they are right.......think my old hearing aids were not as good as the new ones.
Mo, yes I was late posting my last post.......I am not sleeping well at all, some nights it is three to four o clock in the morning before I go to bed.
Did your son manage to get Roly's Sat Nav set up today for him? Don't worry about not knowing how to set them up Mo, I am just the same. Jennie or Michael has to sort my mobile phone, kindle and if Alun isn't around they also have to sort out my laptop if I have a problem with it.lol!!
Huia, hope that you enjoyed your son's visit and that he managed to get most if not all of the jobs done that needed doing, for you.
Are you still working at the Charity Shop?
Jean, I hope that you and J are feeling a lot better and that you are able to get on with your card making.
Elizabeth, if you are looking in, hope that all is well with you and your family.
Sylvia, hope that you have managed to sort out the problems of your train journey and the hotel for your Christmas with your daughter and her family.
Marie, if you look in, hope that all is well with you and your family.
Jeniwren, I know you sometimes post on here, I hope that things are going along okay for you and your family.
Well I am going to have a hot drink now and hopefully try and get some sleep.
Take care everyone.
Love, Sallie.xxx <3

Ann, the cards went airmail, so it shouldn't be long before they arrive, well before christmas I know, but I am such a dizzy lizzy, I would no doubt forget to send them. lol Roly often takes his hearing aids out, if the situation suits, and he can't take the noise any more. In fact I often wonder if he has turned it off, at times when I am talking to him.
Huia, I believe that people here now have the equivalent to your St Johns. When my mum lived in sheltered accomodation, they had a bell pull to call for help, but that didn't help if they were to far away from the cord. A couple of times, mum had to wait for the person in charge, to do her daily calls around the residents before she was discovered. Poor mum was a bit accident prone, and broke her hip and wrist within a few months of each other.
Well another weekend arrives, not many more before Christmas girls LOL Has anyone got anything exciting planned?
Bye for now girls, Mo

Mo, I have a pendant round my neck. If I have any serious problems I press and hold the button in the middle of it for the count of 3. It rings through to St John, who then try to ring me back to find out what the problem is. They try 3 times then if I don't answer they send an ambulance out. The pendant works within a radius of 300 metres of the "black box" (actually white). If my internet is connected through the phone there is a gadget which breaks the internet connection, so if I have been busy here and dash down the passage to the loo and fall and break my leg so I cant get to the phone the pendant does it all for me. If I am outside, and fall and cannot get up, to answer the phone they send it out. I always lock the doors when I am inside (unless it is a hot day!) but there is a key for the backdoor in a secret place which the ambulance people know, so they don't have to break a window to get in. I probably wont use the button too often I hope, but it is nice to have that security of knowing I can call for help if I am lying helpless somewhere outside.

Hi Mo
The trouble with hearing aids is, while they are very useful for magnifying other peoples' speech, they are very painful with other noises. Children screaming, loud music, people shouting on mobile phones can all be quite painful.
I haven't posted my oversea cards yet, I will send them by air. did yours go surface mail Mo?

Hello Sylvia, I hope that you and your O.H are safe and well following the storm. How are things with you both apart from the storm? Is little man doing well now.? I hope that your daughter and son in law managed to sort out their problems. Having OCD certainly puts pressure on a marriage doesn't it. My D.I.L is having a few problems at the moment, coping with our Lilly. The health visitor seems to think that little one has got A.D.H.D, as she is very hyper active, and demands a lot of attention, and with a baby of five months old, is not always able to get her own way, so then the temper tantrums start. D.I.L is finding it rather hard to cope with her. We help out as much as possible, but we are not getting any younger, and Roly finds it difficult to cope with the noise. It's alright for me, as I tend to switch off from the noise, but the screaming goes right through Roly's hearing aids, and gives him a headache. I can't win, as I would love to help out more than I do, but my husband must come first.
A big hello to everyone else, take care of yourselves girls. Mo

Hello Sallie, and Huia. Goodness me Sallie, your posting was at 00.36, I bet your brain was in overdrive, being awake at that time love. I know how it is don't worry, if it wasn't for my sleeping tablets, I could probably hold a converstion with you till the dawn was breaking.....not that I am saying I could talk for England, but I probably could LOL. Roly has to wait till Friday, for our son to come over to sort the Sat Nav out. He needs to register it, so that he can get updates, and I being thick cannot do it for him, plus I haven't got a printer should anything need printing out.
Huia, good on you doing your potting, it keeps your mind active doesn't it, and watching things grow is very satisfying. Your son is going to be very busy, cutting the tree back, and tidying up the garden. How does your St Johns alarm work? Would it take very long for someone to reach you in an emergency. As far as old age goes, well, we all have to endure it don't we, mentally we still feel young, but physically it holds us back., never mind my love, do what you can and leave the rest.
Well, at long last I have posted my christamas cards overseas. The cost doesn't get any cheaper, but I want my friends to know that they are in my thoughts at this time of year. Cor, hasn't it turned cold today, thank goodness for central heating. When we went shopping this morning, my poor ears felt like they were going to drop off, and I was glad to get back home in the warm again. Stay safe and warm girls, hugs Mo

Hello Sallie and all. I look in most days but don't post often. I now seem to have the gardening bug. It is about 6 years since I did any real gardening. I started the other day by potting up a few perennials and things for our shop and then I decided I might grow some lettuces in pots, and get a large tomato plant from the garden shop (in a pot). I bought a big bag of compost, another of potting mix, and one of cutting mix today. I want to grow cuttings from some of my old fashioned shrubs for the shop. My son is coming up from Rotorua tomorrow morning, I asked him to bring his chainsaw to cut down some of the native trees that are getting too big and in the way. I hope he will also trim some hedges and do one or two other jobs around the garden. He is just staying the one night. I cant do too much in the garden in case I fall over, but I now have the St Johns alarm if I do fall when nobody is here and I cant get up. Old age, who would have it?

Hello girls, hope that you are all OK and that the weather isn't too bad wherever you live.
Mo, so pleased that your day went well with Lilly and Ava, even though you were exhausted afterwards, but very happy too.
I can imagine how frightened Lilly was when ' Dracula ' answered the door on Halloween, bless her.
Hope Roly has managed to get his new Sat Nav sorted by now and that it is working OK.
Ann, the wedding photos are really lovely, thank you for sharing them with us all. I love the brides dress. especially the detail at the side of it.
Have you finished making all your Christmas cards yet? I have started making mine, but they are taking longer to make than they usually do and I'm not happy with some that I have managed to make. I think that at this rate, I will have to buy them this year.
Elizabeth, lovely to see you posting on here, you are always welcome.
I have always loved to read, but haven't been to concentrate to be able to read for a long while now......hopefully I will be able to get back into reading again before too long.
Jean, if you are looking in, I hope that you are starting to feel better and that you are able to make some cards,
It seems a long time since we heard from Huia, Sylvia and Marie, I hope that they are all okay. Miss seeing all our old friends on here.
Well, I will say goodnight to everyone, it's time for bed now.
Take care everyone.
Love, Sallie. xxx.

Oh Elizabeth, I cannot for the life of me, walk past a charity shop, without going in and taking a look at what books they have on sale. We are very lucky here, one of our charity shops sells three books for a £1.00, and one particular lady who walks there, is always saying to me "Oooh you surely haven't finished the last three already have you", I love to read, and it doesn't matter what the book is about, I still devour it, as if it was my last meal. LOL Lilly is fine thank you. She was taken to a fireworks display last night, and the baby was thrilled and laughed at all the bangs and fireworks going off, but Lilly told her parents, "I'm bored, I want to go home," Hmm for a three and a half year old, she rules the roost normally, but had to wait till everyone else was ready to go home. I hope you are all well wherever you may be. Hugs Mo
