hi all xx
lovely and sunny here ............. but that comes with low temperatures!
some good news on the insurance front, re the generator
OH has to find out how much it would cost to replace the generator, and let the assessor know.
There will then be a $200 deductible, and the insurance company will issue a cheque for the balance.
We do have replacement insurance for the house and goods ......... have had for 30 or 40 years. But this is the first time we've had to make a claim. (fingers, toes and everything crossed!).
We've decided that we are probably not going to replace the generator ......... we've been talking for a couple of years that it is getting to the time when I no longer enjoy going up there, and time to consider selling the place. We can rent a generator when we do go up, for a day, week or month.

Huia, pleased to hear that your mowing man has arrived at last, hope he makes a good job of it.
It's awful when you can't "switch off "at night , so that you can get to sleep. I know the feeling well, and you have my sympathy.
I really should be getting on with some more of our family history, but I never seem to have the time, but there again, card making takes up a good bit of my time, I'm afraid. The trouble is I hit a "brick wall" with a few of both Alun's and my ancestors, so I lost interest....but I must start working on it again.
Hope you manage to get some sleep after the mowing man has gone.
Love, Sallie. xxx

If I have to visit our hospital I go by train from Papakura as the train is free for oldies, and it stops right by the hospital. If I have to go to the Super Clinic which is nearer Papakura I drive. They have quite a big carpark. There is also a bus stop right by it on the main road, and there is also a special shuttle bus for people who have to visit the clinic, but I have never used that.
My mowing man has come this morning and is busy now. As soon as he is gone I think I will lie down for more sleep. I couldnt get to sleep last night until about 2 or 3, even after taking a 2nd half of a sleeping tab. I had that alarm set to wake me at 7 as I wouldnt have heard the man come up the drive.
I have been busy on FMP trying to get all my relatives but some in the Norris line are very difficult. I even tried Morris. A few years ago a 2nd cousin's son thought he had found George Norris and his family in the 1881. I wasnt entirely happy with it, but last night I found the same family on the 1891 and realised it definitely wasnt our George as the father was living with them, wrong first name, a widower and a writer. Also wrong p.o.b. I have the mother living elsewhere, a widow, so this George is wrong. Perhaps that is why I couldnt sleep last night, working on trying to find them. I did read for a while to unwind but obviously didnt work.

Jean, pleased to hear that J's results were good.....I can't believe how quickly the time as gone since he had his op. I think it's the same with all hospitals, trying to park is a nightmare. It didn't use to be so bad at one of the Nottingham hospitals (the one that Jennie goes to for her Crohn's) because they had a good multi storey car park, but it became unsafe to use, so it was demolished and now the car park is on some spare ground further away. But I suppose to be fair, they have a few small buses running to the main entrance and back again, free of charge.
Mo. hope you win tonight, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you and your team. Good luck!
Ann, there's no stopping T is there. Like Mo, we need him here too...although I must say Alun isn't too bad, but certainly not as enthusiastic and energetic as T.LOL!!
I heard from Joyce yesterday afternoon, still suffering from cramp, unfortunately, but she sounds cheerful enough. She's going to the pain clinic tomorrow, so I hope they can do something to help her, then she's off to Liverpool on Thursday, so is hoping that all goes to plan so that she can visit the graves and put flowers on them.
Caz, thinking of you, and hoping that the pain is a little bit easier for you.
I haven't been anywhere today, as it's too cold.....I've also started with a cold, feeling a bit shivery with headache and aching joints, so I'm afraid that I haven't done very much today.
Hope everyone else is okay, thinking about you all.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

My lord Jean, is it a whole year since J's last check up. How time flies by. I can't tell you how pleased I am for both of you, this is the kind of news I love to read. There never seems to be enough parking spaces at hospitals do there. We have what they class as a multi storey, but it is only two floors, huh if thats a multi storey, I'll go to the foot of our stairs. Plus all the staff have to park there as well. I bet that you got the cold in your bones looking for the unit you needed. Sit down after your dinner, and get warmed through.
My goodness Ann, you will have to tie T to the bed in the mornings to slow him down a bit. lol He's such a whizz kid, even at his age. I told you, I want to borrow him.
Well I have got darts tonight, and I am not looking forwards to going back out in the cold brrrr. Wish me luck girls, I will let you know tomorrow how we get on.
I hope everyone is o.k,and nice and warm in this cold weather, or in Marie's case not melting in the heat. Love Mo xxx

Actually Mo, T is quite good with jobs, once he has the stuff to make something he gets it done. Today he took up the carpet in his office and laid new underfely under it as we had some over.

Ann the cream I have got for the cold sores, is the same as T's but it's B**ts own make. It's got the same things in it. It seems to be drying out a little now, thank goodness. Your room looks soooo tidy, can you send T here please, I have a load of decking out in the garden that needs doing. Roly bought it last year, and it's still waiting to be put down. I know we have not had the weather for him to be outside, but he gets these good ideas, and buys the things to do them, but never carries it through. The bedside cabinets, he bought, oh I dont know, the year before last, are still in his shed, waiting to be built. Anyone got a stick of dynamite. LOL
Jean, are you sure you have not got J's cold coming on you. You have had the cough for ages, and now with you shivering, and being hot at night, it does make me wonder. Perhaps you are going through the change again. LOL I would not wish that on anyone, once was bad enough where I was concerned.
Love to all. Mo xxx

Mo T suffers with cold sores and has found that if he puts Zovirax on as soon as he feels the suspicious tingle, they often don't develop. Zovirax is really good. He often gets a cold sore instead of a cold.
I will send the pics today. And your too Jean, hope you are feeling warmer today. Sally I will send them to you if you PM me your e mail, I don't seem to have it. Not that they are very exciting, just photos of a room.

Oooh Jean, ((((((((((((((CUDDLES TO KEEP YOU WARM)))))))))))).
I woke up yesterday with the startings of a cold sore, and this morning, weeell it's ginormous.(sp) The poor elephant man had nothing on me, I look a sorry sight. I have been to the chemist's and bought some cold sore cream. I did use aftershave on it yesterday, to try and dry it out, but ooooh did it sting. I wouldn't mind but I have not really had a cold, so I am just hoping that this is not a warning of things to come. Roly keeps taking the mickey out of me and calling me "Herpes face". I know that cold sores are a strain of the Herpes family. Oh poor me, come on now ahhhhhhhhhhhh. It's high time that flippin cough went, and left you in peace. Slap for J it is his fault, for giving it to you in the first place. Love to you and J and D.

Mo, just seen your post, glad that you are okay. You made me laugh when you asked if Alun and I had wet the bed . If we go to Derby on a Saturday we like to go early so that we can get what we need before it gets too crowded.
We go on the bus as it saves the hassle of parking and lots of traffic. Usually it's fairly quiet on the bus at that time, but this morning the bus was full. So it looks as though there was a lot of us wet the bed last night, Mo.lolol!!
No matter how old our children are, there are times when they need our help. It's good that we are able to help them and are there for them when we are needed.
Glad to hear that the baby and mum are both okay.
The wife of one of the technicians that Alun works with, is a paramedic for East Midlands Ambulance service, who are doing a survey on who and how many have called for an ambulance. I'm not sure how long they've been doing the survey, but they are finding that older people are less likely to call for one and that some people call an ambulance for something minor and they could and should have gone straight to A&E instead. So there's something to be said for us golden oldies. lolol!!
I'd better go and do that sorting now, or it won't get done.
Love, Sallie. xxx

Hi all, I must admit Marie is on my mind a lot during the day, I hope she is ok but in all likelyhood she is busy in her garden, or maybe gone to see relatives. Mo we could all get together and ambush him with peashooters, he wouldn't know what had hit him, trouble is though he wears a crash helmet so wouldn't feel it. By the way I was good with my crutches, didn't hit anyone but I kept thinking I could reach things but knocked them down, you're right hubby did walk off at one point saying he's not with me, he does that a lot I wonder why, lol. Huia I hope you are feeling a bit better now, how is Phil these days I haven't seen you mention him, unless I missed it. Ann it's alright having the ideas but you need to put them into practice as well, you make one and I'll wear it. I have to put the kettle on now as hubby will be home with our curry soon.
Love Caz xx

Hi again,
Ann, I would love to see the photos of your room please, if you don't mind.
It's amazing how T was hardly tired after all the work he did yesterday, at least you both could sleep in until 9 a.m.
Caz, we didn't go to the Range after all, we went to Asda because we needed to get a few thinks that we had run out of, so while we were there I had a look at their storage stuff and found exactly what I wanted. I'm pleased we went there now, but the only thing we spent more money than we intended to( that isn't difficult, I know ) and we ended up buying a 19inch flat screen TV for the dining room. So it looks as though we're on dry bread and water for a while.lolol!!
Huia, I hope you are feeling better today, it certainly sounds as though you could have had some sort of virus or bug to sleep as much as you did yesterday. You probably did the best thing by sleeping it off.
It's a wonder we haven't heard from Mo today, I hope she's alright. Maybe she's having trouble with her laptop again, as she did in the week. We all miss you Mo, when we don't hear from you.
I'm going to try and finish sort out the craft stuff now, so I'll speak to you all soon.
Love and best wishes to all our friends. Sallie.xxx

Hello girls. Brrrr what a cold day it has been today. We have been at our daughters house for most of the day. Roly has been fitting bolts on her doors, so that she can feel safer at night. It wasn't so bad before her husband left her, she felt safe having him around. But with her being alone with the three girls, she needed the extra security, so she can sleep better of a night. We all know how many strange noises we notice when we are alone in a house, that we had never noticed before. I haven't seen the baby since last Monday, so I am suffering withdrawal symptoms. Our son went back to work on Friday, and I did ring to make sure baby and mum were o.k. I don't want her to feel like I am poking my nose in,and want to allow her to get in a routine for herself.
Well done on the suggestion for the pocket apron Ann. I had a good giggle about the colour of the carpet under the bed. The same thing happened to us, only ours was a dark blue carpet, or was supposed to have been. When we decorating the small bedroom last year, we moved the bed out, and sure as eggs are eggs, where the sun had been shing on the larger piece of carpet, it was lighter than under the bed. I just shampoo'd it after the decorating was finished, and put the bed back where it had come out from. No one knows the difference, apart from us, well and my friends on here. LOL
Huia, I hope it has warmed up a bit for you by now. I thought it was only us unlucky lot here in the U.K that were suffering with the cold.
Sylvia, shhh dont tell Huia you are having a heat wave, she will be getting jealous. It's good to hear you have managed to get your tickets booked for your next trip. How is little MJ now.? ((((((((( Hugs for him)))))))))))
Caz, I would have loved to have seen you knocking things down from the shelves, with your sticks. I can visualise your OH, walking away saying out loud, "She's not with me" LOL It would be good if you are able to use a catapult, to hurl stones at that nutter on the quad bike. Perhaps if you knocked him of the bike a couple of times, with a stone across the back of his head, he would think that someone up above was telling him something, and he might stop zooming around the place. You could hide behind the curtains when you did it, so that didn't realise it was you. If you need me to come up and do it for you, just let me know. We would have a right giggle about it. Ann with her pea shooter, us with the catapult, cor he wouldn't stand a chance. LOL
Cor luv a duck Sallie, did you and Alun P the bed last night, being in Derby before 9.00a.m. My word I bet the pavements weren't even dry when you got out of the car. Have you got the family at yours for dinner tomorrow. You must cook some extra, then we can all come for our sunday dinner.
XXXXXXXXXX (((((((for Jean and Joyce))))))))))))
I hope Marie is o.k. I bet she's in the garden again doing some more weeding. Or she's at the gym or aqua aerobics, she's such a fit girl. (((((((HUGS))))))
Well ladies, I am going to do a Sallie and put the kettle on for a cuppa. Take care everyone. Love Mo xxx

I think I must have had some sort of bug yesterday. With the sleeping all day, and I didnt get up for lunch, and although I cooked myself some dinner I couldnt be bothered eating it, just went back to sleeping. Not like me at all. I was just dozing in short spurts last night. I must remember to drink lots of water today.
