And have you seen the rubbish you get for a lot of money when you buy cards.

I have a vision of their friend accosting this poor gentleman who hasn't a clue who Julia is.

Sallie

Sallie Report 15 Feb 2011 19:18

Ann, I hope the letter gets to Julia too, but if it doesn't, Jennie and Michael's friend thinks she knows Julia's husband, so she will try and find out something. Their daughter has a couple of horses, so they see Julia's hubby when he passes by on his way to his allotment. I just hope she's got the right person.lol!

Jennie was diagnosed with Crohn's when she was nineteen, she lost so much weight, that she went down from a size 12 to a size 6, she looked
really ill. At the moment the tiredness is worse, the medication she's on is keeping the flare ups away, thank goodness......as your friend's daughter,
Jennie still watches what she eats. She's okay with meat, but has to watch vegetables and fruit very carefully, both of which she loves.....even as a child she always loved her fruit and vegetables.

I'm going to start a couple of cards now, what with these birthdays in February and March, and Easter too, I think it would be a lot easier to buy them all instead, but I know there wouldn't be the same satisfaction as making them myself.

Love, Sallie.xxx

AnninGlos Report 15 Feb 2011 17:29

Huia, I do hope that the sting has had no lasting ill effects.

Sallie I hope that somehow your letter finds its way to Julia. Did you know her surname? If so it should do. Our friend's daugher has had Crohnes for many years now, diagnosed in her early 20s and she is in her 40s now. She still has to watch what she eats very carefully (I think she doesn't eat meat). She is stick thin and often has flare ups but what surprises me is that she is so active, and is shortly running the Edinburgh marathon (I think it is marathon not half) with her policeman husband.

Jean lovely to see you back on here. Glad you have got back into your card making. I hope that you have a lovely holiday and that the weather stays dry. Which Nikon Compact have you ordered? I have just ordered a new camera to add to my collection, this one is a hybrid ( a midi smaller than a full digital SLR but larger and more to it than a compact). I am waiting for it to come from Amazon. It is a Panasonic Lumix and also had a good write up.

I have been extra energetic today, gave the kitchen a good clean, then the lounge and dining room so it all smells sweetly clean now.

Sallie Report 15 Feb 2011 16:58

Hi Jean,

Lovely to hear from you and to know that you are feeling better. Glad that you feel able to make cards again.
I hope you and J will enjoy yourselves at Llandudno next week, I hope you'll get some dry weather, at least.

Jennie's Crohn's is fine at the moment ( touch wood ) thanks Jean....we're all hoping that it will stay that way for a long while. She has a problem with feeling tired a lot of the time, the hospital have done blood tests for the usual things that cause it, but say they can't find any reason why she's so tired. We know that Crohn's can cause tiredness, but the Consultant told Jennie that it shouldn't as bad as it is.

So Jennie's GP has now decided to get some blood tests done, for causes that aren't so obvious, so we shall have to wait and see.
At least the doctor is trying to sort it out.

Alun has been on holiday from work since last week, he starts back tomorrow. It's been nice having him home......we took Jennie to Derby today, she wanted to get her hair cut a particular style, so as there are a
few hairdressers there where you don't have to make an appointment she thought that she would come to Derby with us.

Her hair looks lovely, it really suits her, so she'e pleased now that she came with us. We had some lunch out, so that was an added bonus for her.

I wasn't going to buy anything today, until I went into Kate's craft shop, and ended up buying more stash and another MS punch.

Mo, I hope you are feeling a little bit better today, rest and take care of yourself.
Nice to hear that Lily is doing well, bless her. It's nice that her grandad spoils her, and I'm sure she is worth it.

Huia, I hope you have recovered from the wasp sting by now. Did you manage to charge Phil's new shaver up alright.

Caz, hoping that the pain you are suffering in your back, will soon ease for you. Thinking about you as always.

Joyce, hope that the pain you are suffering from will soon ease for you too. Thinking of you and take care.

Sylvia, we haven't heard from you for a few days, so hope you and OH are both alright. Also hope that everything is alright with J and her family.

Ann, when do you go away to the Lake District? I hope the weather will be nice for you, well dry at least. Will you be able to take your laptop or some card making stuff, to do?

Marie, how are things with you and your family? I hope all is well with everyone.

Well I'll say bye for now, might come back on later on,

Love and best wishes to you all. Sallie.xxx

Huia Report 14 Feb 2011 23:28

I agree about the shaver taking so long to charge. I think that happened once before with something.

I went for a walk and took a few photos. I was going to walk a bit more but I got stung by a wasp (I presume) on my finger, in fact I can see 2 spots on the finger. I didnt see the barstewards that did it but I sure felt them. I decided to come home in case I had an allergic reaction. Many years ago when we were on a long walk several of us got stung and during the walk home in the afternoon I was feeling that I wanted to lie down and rest. I had to keep telling myself 'one foot in front of the other'. Next day there was a large purple swollen area on my leg where I had been stung, and the following day it was still like that and I could feel the heat through my fleecy trousers. I asked in the chemist shop and was told I must be allergic to wasps. She sold me some antihistamines which fixed it. After that I used to always take some antih. tabs with me, but I dont these days. At least my finger hasnt become too fat yet, maybe I shook the blighters off before they had time to pump too much poison into me.

I've not long posted on the Where's Julia ? thread. I hope that Julia gets the letter I sent, even though the name and address are a bit vague, to say the least.lol!! It would be nice to know if she is okay.

Huia, I'm sure it's a nuisance when you're expecting someone to call so can't use the internet. At least now, you can spend a lot of time doing more research.

Hope your meeting with the lady about the book , will go well and that hopfully you'll be able to move a little bit forward. Good luck!

I hope Phil new shaver is alright, it seems strange that the light hasn't winked yet, I would have thought that it would have been fully charged by now though.

Hope that Phil will be well and responsive when you visit him tomorrow.

Alun has another days holiday tomorrow, so we are taking Jennie to Derby so that she can get her hair done. She also wants to buy a birthday present for Michael's sister, she will be thirty on Thursday.....I think that Jennie is thinking of getting her some jewellery. Of course, I'll probably go to my two favourite shops there.....we'll also have some lunch while we're there.

Hello people. I have been around Sally and on a few threads but not as much as usual. Yeterday we were out a lot, Saturday we were out most of the day, today I was around but didn't come on this thread, probably because it wasn'y in front of my eyes. Sometimes I forget threads if I don't 'see' them. if you know what I mean.

Sorry to hear that Mo is Poorly. hope she feels better soon. with mo and Jean both poorly and also Joyce and Caz, there aren't many of us left

Glad that Alun bought his train Sallie. Nice to get something special that you want. part of being out yesterday was that i was looking at cameras. I found one I liked in C***t but they didn't have it in, said they could get it for Tuesday. But I knew I could order it from Amazon for £15 less and get it by the end of the week so that is what I have done.

Huia, that is a very long time for a battery to charge. I would think it is charged by nowl.

I went for a walk this morning but it was so very cold, my face was frozen so I came home instead of extending the walk.

Huia

Huia Report 14 Feb 2011 20:36

Hello Sallie and anybody else who is looking in. I didnt spend very much time on my computer yesterday as I was thinking that the mowing man might ring, and I am not on broadband, cant get it here :(( I tried last night to ring him and again this morning, on his landline, then I got him on his cell phone. He says he will come on Friday, probably afternoon, so now I can spend more time on my computer :)))

I really should go for a walk as I havent been for a long one for some time, but the weather is so hot. I should also visit Phil and take him his new shaver, but I have had it charging the battery for the last 3 days and there is still no indication that the battery is fully charged. According to the instructions the charge light is supposed to wink when it is fully charged. I think I might leave it on until tomorrow. I will be meeting with the woman about the book at 10.30 and I can visit Phil afterwards.

Sallie Report 14 Feb 2011 19:58

Oh! this a lonely thread. Where has everyone gone to?

I had a pm from Mo today letting us know that she isn't feeling too good.

She went to the doctors on Friday, she's been suffering from pain in her rib cage for a while now, so thought it best to get it checked. Although he doesn't think it's anything serious, she has had to go for an xray today. Mo has asked me to tell you all, that she;s mostly OK, but is feeling a bit off colour and also finding it uncomfortable to sit typing on the computer, for too long. So she won't be on the thread for at least a few days.

Ann, I'm also wondering if you are alright, I noticed that you haven't been on here nor your own threads for the last few days too. I hope that you are alright, as it isn't like you not to post for a few days, unless you're poorly or away on holiday.

Jean, Caz and Joyce, I hope the three of you are feeling a bit better now. Thinking about you all. Take care.

Sylvia, Huia and Marie, hope all is well with the three of you , and your families. Take care.

I'll speak to you all soon.

I'll say goodnight to everyone.

Hi Girls, I hope you are all alright, and had a good weekend.

Huia, that was nice having a Valentine card. It's a great idea that some of the residents make the cards, much better for them than just sitting doing nothing. I'm sure you were thrilled with it.....it doesn't matter how amateurish some are , the main thing is that it's nice to receive a card made by one of the residents.

Joyce, rang me yesterday, she was saying that she was very tired and slept quite a bit yesterday. Between her back and cramp pain, no wonder she can't get to sleep......as I told her, she needs to sleep when she can.

I think that she now realises that her friend will only go to the doctors when she is ready to. So let's hope that Joyce won't make herself worrying about it anymore.

Mo, did you go to visit Lily yesterday? I hope she's better now, and taking her milk alright.

Jennie and Michael went to his mum's for their dinner today, his sister is
staying with J and M for a couple of nights (she still lives with their mum and dad) so they all went there for their Sunday dinner.

The three of them then came here afterwards, so that Michael could fix the flush on the upstairs toilet for us. He had to go and get a whole new unit for us, because he could no longer buy the part he needed on it's own. Anyway it's done now, so that's a good job out of the way.

Ann, Alun came home with a bag of things he had bought at the show yesterday, but didn't buy a train, although he wished he had. After looking at the train engines on the internet sites, he found that the train that he had seen in the show , was actually half price in the show to what it is online, so I think that he'll probably buy it today. lol!! Alun is a fan of G.W.R. , I think those are the only trains we went on as we were growing. up....so as you can guess all the model trains he has are all G.W.R.

Jean, I hope you are feeling a bit better today, after your fall, and not feeling quite so sore.

Caz, how are you today? I hope that you are starting to feel a little bit better
now. Thinking about you, as always. Take care!

Marie, it was lovely hearing from you. Hope the temperatures are a bit more comfortable for you now.

Sylvia, hope all is alright with both you and OH, and that his mouth is now feeling a lot more comfortable after his visit to the dentist.

Alun has just arrived home, so I'd better go and make him a coffee.
Speak to you all later.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Shise and rine you sluggards! But dont make too much noise as I will be going to bed soon.

Yesterday I received a Valentines card. Not that it is V. day until tomorrow, but at least I got one. I also got one last year. In the home where Phil is there are some of the residents who make cards for occupational therapy. It is great to receive them, even if some are very amateurish. So nice to know that they are keeping busy and presumably happy with it. I dont think they do it in Phils wing. They are just not up to that sort of thing.

I bought him a new razor after visiting him on Friday as his is getting very blunt. I know I should be able to get new blades, but not too many years ago we asked about new blades for his previous razor and they would have cost almost as much as a new razor. I will bring the 'old' (about 1 year) razor home and see if a good clean-up helps it.

Night night from me.

Thank you for the news re Jean Caz. It does knock your confidence when you fall I know from my episode last August. I hope she regains hers again soon.

Pleased to her little Lily is keeping her feed down after the baby Gaviscon Mo.

Sallie So Alun will be playing trains all weekend. Bet he really enjoys that like my son used to many years ago when he belonged to the model railway club. Somehow, despite still having the trains and everything in his loft he never set them up once he moved into his own house. Now he has a room full (literally) of small armies and goes off weekends wargaming. (Or as we call it playing toy soldiers!)

Good evening girls.
Thank you Caz for letting us know the latest update on our Jean. I hope and pray that she gets better soon, she is a lovely lovely lady, and does not deserve this to keep happening to her. The Vertigo has a lot to answer for.
And Jean and J are due to be going away soon as well. Something always seems to happen to spoil their holidays, bless them both.

I hope you have had a better day today Caz. Hows the card making going now,?

Hi Sallie. It sounds like you are going to have a quiet weekend, with Alun being in Doncaster.
Will you be seeing the children, over the weekend,so that you have some company.
We are going over to see baby Lilly tomorrow.
They had to take her to the hospital last night,as she was vomiting her milk back big time.
The hospital have given them Baby Gaviscon, for reflux.
I spoke to my son earlier, and he said it seems to be working, as she has managed to keep most of her bottles down today. Thank the lord for that.

Well girls, I hope you all have a good weekend. I will speak to you al tomorrow.
Love and best wishes Mo xxx

Hi everyone,

Caz, thank you for the update on Jean, I'm not surprised that she's frightened of falling agagin, bless her. I hope she'll feel a lot better tomorrow and not quite so sore. Please tell her that I'm thinking about her, and to take care of herself.

I also hope that you are feeling a little bit better yourself today, too Caz. How long do you have to have chemo for this time? Let's hope and pray that this time it will get that horrible cancer once and for all.

Alun is at a Model Railway Show at Doncaster for most of the weekend.

Their club are showing two of their layouts there, so have taken them up this evening so that they can put them together ready for the morning. So he'll be a bit late arriving home tonigh, and of course early starts tomorrow and Sunday.

I'll speak to you soon Caz, take care.

Hi all, I heard from Jean this morning and she has a few big bruises on her back but her confidence is gone. She is frightened that she will fall again maybe with her going dizzy sometimes, I know when I fall it takes days to get my confidence back so she will have to be careful from now on. Jeans knees are sore as well and they were bad before so I hope she will get plenty of rest now.
