Hi girls, sorry I'm late today, I've been busy making cards today. It wasn't until this evening that I remembered that it's my brother and sister-in-law's wedding anniversary on Saturday, they will have been married 39 years. So I had to make them a card, so that I can post it in the morning and hopefully they'll receive it on Saturday morning.
Mo, great to see you on here, take care and don't go overdoing things.
Huia, I'm pleased that you caught the rat, let's hope that it was the female you caught, and that you'll manage to catch some more. It's a shame you aren't able to get the pest control people to sort it out for you.
I must say you are very brave sorting out the problem yourself....I would run a mile if I seen one.
Joyce, hope that you are able to sort out your permit with the Dutch Authority, I would have thought that being married to Jan and the amount of years you've lived there, you shouldn't have to pay for a permit now. I hope you are feeling a bit better, and that you are now able to get some sleep.
Caz, how are things with you? I'm thinking about you and hoping that you are feeling a little better.
Ann, is your friend that's ill, the one you sometimes meet at the garden centre for coffee. Pleased that you've received your new camera and hope that it's all you expected to be. Still no word from Julia, I'm afraid. Just hope that D will see the gentleman to ask him, and that it is Julia's OH.
Jean, are you packed ready for Saturday, hope you and J will have a good week. Take care the both of you.
Thinking of Sylvia and hope that her and OH will have a good weekend at Vancouver Island.
Marie, thinking of you and your family, and that you are all okay.
We haven't heard from Linda and Tess for a good while, hope that they are both alright.
Well I'll say goodnight now, speak to you tomorrow.
Take care.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Mo, I put the trap down so that the rat (which was caught by the head) was on its back. I could see 2 rows of nipples, one of which appeared to be bigger than the others, and it wasnt in the right place to be a male's you-know-what. I certainly hope it was a female anyway. If we can kill them all off the males are no good on their own, but lots of females, if there is only one male about .......... well, they would breed like rabbits probably.
Huia.

Huia, sorry you were talking to yourself, I didn't have much time to be on here earlier. This morning we were visiting our friend who is ill, we went to them for coffee, then we went for lunch, then we went food shopping. that is hard to do after eating a full meal. Then we came home for an hour or so, then had to go back out to pick up a parcel (my new camera) that the postie had tried to deliver while we were out. This evening I have been watching the soaps and playing with my camera.
Mo, good to see you chatting on here, don't overdo it though if it hurts to sit.

Good evening girls. Yes it's little ol me, back here to pester the life out of you.
Huia, I am the last person to worry about your rat situation, having been there myself. It's not a pretty sight seeing the rat dead in a trap is it. I don't envy you trying to find the offspring of the mother rat. Oh by the way, I know this is going to sound stupid, but how did you know it was a female.? We never even looked to see what sex our one was, it was out the door quicker than you could say "Jack Spratt". I am not at all surprised that your cat,has taken to not coming in the house. Ours was the same, and would run out of the door as soon as she heard the rat about. Talk about a scaredy cat. lol I hope you have enjoyed your little walk about today. Sorry to read that Phil was a bit non-responsive at your last visit.
I hope Sylvia has a lovely weekend in Vancouver. She's a lucky lady isn't she, visiting all the places, we can only dream of.
Sallie, our elusive Julia is still missing then. What a shame the letter didn't get to her home. Have you heard any more from the people who viewed your house.?
Ann, how are you and T doing. It was good to read back over the thread, and find that you and Sallie had kept it going for us.
So we are going to lose our Jean, for a week. We will miss your witty self Jean. Oh and by the way honey, the chocolates that arrived with the flowers are delicious. I have kept them all for myself, but if Roly is nice to me, I will let him have one. I hope you both enjoy your holiday, but please take care how you go.
Heres hoping that Caz and Joyce are both bearing up as well, with all their difficulties. mwah to you both.
Marie, hows things over in OZ now. I hope the family are all well.
Linda, thank you for letting the Friendlies know that I have been under the weather.
Got to go now girls, sorry it's not as long a posting as normal, but I have to have a stretch now. Roll on getting these results, so I know what they can do for me. Love to you all. Mo xxx

Yippee. I am feeling very triumphant. Last night I forgot to put the lid on the box in which I keep the bananas safe from the rats at night. One of them was partly chewed this morning. This afternoon I reset a trap which has been set for a long time in the kitchen, using a bit of the chewed banana, then I decided to get another trap from partway downstairs, just under the bathroom. It has been set there for ages and I have looked at it each time I have passed. When I went to get it it was on its side with a biiiiiiiiig rat in it. When I took it outside I found it was a mummy rat. I hope I dont get reported to the RSPCA, as I suspect she was feeding, so the young ones will probably die of hunger. I set the trap anyway with a bit more banana, and put it in the passage just outside the toilet where the calling cards have been for the last 2 or 3 nights. Tomorrow I must check under the bathroom for any sign of any nests with young 'uns. I wonder if I can persuade my cat to go under there and hunt them down. She just doesnt come indoors any more.
Huia who is happier now.

Mo, nice to hear from you and to know that you are alright. Just take care and put your feet up and rest.
Sylvia, hope that you have a nice weekend away, visiting your friends. Let's hope the snow will keep away at least, so that you can get out and about.
Pleased to hear that you recived your cheque for the generator. As you said it seems pointless buying another one if you've already made the decision to sell the cabin this year or next.
Ann, D sees the gentleman most mornings, so she's going to ask him if he's Julia's OH, and if she is, she'll ask if she's alright and tell him that all her friends on GR are worried about her. So let's hope we'll hear something very soon.
Goodnight to everyone, I'll be in touch again tomorrow.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi all xxx
We got a cheque from the insurance company yesterday ......... $2919, which is the replacement cost for a new generator, minus a $200 deductible. So it seems a the new generator would cost almost double what we paid 4 or 5 years ago! In addition, if we buy a new one in the next year, we just send the insurers a bill for the amount of HST (= your VAT), and that will also be refunded. We're thinking that we will not be buying another one, as we're planning on selling the cabin this year or next. We've had it since 1997, and OH loves it, but I hardly ever go out onto the property when we are up there ............ I just sit and knit, on the sun deck or inside. It's very relaxing, but it seems a waste of 20 acres. If we can find a loving buyer, then ................. We do need a generator when we are up there, to operate the water pump, power tools etc .............. otherwise OH has to haul buckets of water about 400' from the creek, and that is very hard work. But it is possible to rent one for short periods of time. We're going away tomorrow (Thursday) until Sunday .............. visiting our close friends on Vancouver Island. We're just hoping the winds drop! Ferries were cancelled on Monday because of high winds. There are quite high winds again today. AND snow is in the forecast for Saturday!!!
Take care everyone

Cooee everyone. I am just popping in to say a big hello to you all, and to let you know I am o.k. My results should be back with my doctor by next wednesday. She thinks it's to do with the arthritus, and that it has started in my sternum, hence my not being able to sit for very long without the pains in my upper ribs. This blessed Arther has a lot to answer to, causing so many problems for us all. Enjoy your holiday Jean, I will be thinking of you. Thank you Sallie for letting the girls know what was wrong with me. Take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

Hi girls. I forgot we hadn't seen Sylvia for a few days too, should have mentioned her in my last post tsk!!
Sally, what a shame to get your letter back. Never mind we shall just have to keep trying. What do you think was missing? surname? house number? Post code? You had the road and I assume the village or whatever didn't you? Sometimes I wonder if they don't try, not like in the old days when postie knew everyone.
Go on Jean, pack the bikini and give J a thrill!! Might cause a heat wave.

HI Girls,
Huia, glad to hear that your finger is getting better. Did you take Phil his new shaver? I've been wondering if it was fully charged and that it was working okay. It was nice that Phil said hello to you and that he looked at you several times while you were with him.
I'm sure you must be thrilled and excited that the lady has asked you to co-write the book with her. It will be very interesting for you and also a great achievement. I hope that you are able to visit your dad's old office girl very soon, so that you can hopefully get as much information as you can. Good luck on your venture.
Ann, I got the letter back this morning, telling me there's not enough information on the address, as though I didn't know. My only hope now , is that D will ask the man, who she thinks is Julia's husband. I could kick myself now, not asking Julia for her full address.
Jean, maybe you should put your bikini in, just in case you have some beautiful weather.lolol!! I hope that the weather will be dry for you,at least you can get out and about when it isn't raining. Are you thinking about taking some of your craft with you?
Hope J and D are both alright. Is D sttill working full time in the same place?
Mo, I hope that you are feeling a little bit better today. Do you know when you'll get the results of your xray. Hoping and praying that the results will be alright for you. Take care!
Caz, still thinking about you, and hoping that you are feeling a bit better today. Take care.
Joyce, hope you are feeling better too, and that you are able to make some cards, as I know that it does help you forget about any problems worries that you have.
Sylvia, we haven't heard from you for a little while. I hope that you are and OH are both alright.
Marie, hope all is well with you and your family.
Well, I've got to get ready for to go shopping now, speak to you all later.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Good luck with the book Huia and with talking to your Dad's old office 'girl'.
I suppose it is something if Phil looked at you. I wonder what they are thinking in their twilight world? (I hope I don't have to find out in the future.) Do you get the impression that, in his own way, he is happy Huia?
Still got everything crossed for you finding out about \Julia Sallie.
Mo, I hope you are feeling better now. ((((((hugs)))))) for Jean, Mo, Caz, Joyce, Marie and anyone else who needs them. And Where are you Debbie???

I am home from my day out. This morning the top section of my finger was red and swollen so I went to the chemist to get some antihist. tabs. I then went to the library to meet the woman who is going to write the book and after chatting for a while she asked if I would like to co-write it with her. I might write some sections. She left at midday and after I had some lunch I went to see Phil. He looked at me when I said hello and he replied, but most of the visit was in silence although he did look at me 2 or 3 times.
I now have to phone dads old office girl to see if we can visit her on Saturday to chat about old times. Since she is her eighties it is important we interview her asap.
Huia.

Ann, agree with you about the cards, you are quite right.
I'm hoping it's Julia's hubby too, or the poor gentleman will think that perhaps D and A are perhaps a little bit strangeLOL!
The day Julia and I met for coffee, I know that she was telling Jennie and Michael, that she knew their friends just by passsing by on the way to the allotment, so D could well be right.
I know Julia's hubby, but I live 5 miles away from them, so that's no good. Cross our fingers and hope that he is Julia's hubby.
Love, Sallie. xxx
