Huia Report 23 Feb 2011 20:16

Yes Mo, Whangaparaoa peninsula is north of Auckland. My sister in law lives in Stanmore Bay. It is just about a city on its own now. Houses everywhere. There used to be paddocks (fields) behind her house, with horses in, but now there are houses. There is a lovely sandy beach which s.i.l walks each morning with her dog.

Thank the lord, I have found them on north Island. Huia would have been able to have told me that. Dummmmm thats me.
I spelt the town wrong as well, Whangaparaoa is the correct spelling. And after googling the area it looks lovely.
Bye for now girls. Love Mo xxx

Oh for goodness sake Caz, whats the matter with these people. It's bad enough you have had all this worry, that you now have to wait again. It's really not fair on you love.
So have you now got to have your bloods taken again this monday.
I could scream on your behalf. Your poor back will have to go through all this again soon.
We will still be leaving our chain of love ,good luck and blessing up for for you, ready for next time.ooooooooooooo-Caz's chain- ooooooooo.

Ann the people who shot the swans, need shooting themselves. Why would anyone want to hurt such beautiful creatures, who do no harm to man or beast , despicable thats what I think.
How lucky that T was able to update the plumbers sat nav, and to save some money on your bill, was a definate bonus.
I suppose that the £25.00 was soon swallowed up, on your visit to the supermarket.

Sylvia, thank goodness your friend is safe. It's such a worry when all these disasters occur, and we can't contact friends and family.
I am waiting to hear from my friends over there. I am not sure if they are on the south island or not. They are in Whangaparoar, Stanmore bay.
I think I may google in a minute to see what island it's on.
Good luck on the results of your colon test for tomorrow. How did your physio go today.

Be back soon going to google now.

I'm here Mo, just nicely got the computer on. The doctor couldn't really tell me much as the nurse had taken the blood test too early last week, it should have been done this Monday or Tuesday to show how the chemo was working. When I got home my back was really bad so crept into the bedroom to lie flat, didn't get up till an hour ago so I'm late on here.
Huia I'm glad to see you are ok, I didn't know where in New Zealand you lived so was worried for you till I saw it on a thread that you were ok.

Love Caz xx

Quiet on this thread so far today. Sylvia I saw about your friend whose house is still standing. Shame about all her precious possessions but at least she is safe.

This morning we had the boiler serviced and two taps changed in the bathroom. While the plumber and his mate were here OH registered and updated his (plumber's) Satnav because he didn't know how to do it on th PC so we had £25 knocked off the bill so we were pleased about that.

Then we went to T****s and did the weekly shop and got a 5p off a litre of petrol voucher. So not a bad day so far.

Hi all
xx

it was a physio day today, so I am very late getting on to the computer.

We were comparing notes about Christchurch

................ I have an internet friend who lives between Christchurch and Lyttelton (which was the epicentre of this 'quake). Fortunately, she is fine ...... she managed to get an email out this (Tuesday) morning to be passed around the group .............. her house was undamaged tho' it was shaken, but any of her little "treasures" that had not been broken in the September earthquake were broken this time.

Physio is from New Plymouth, on the North Island, but his father was from Christchurch, so he has quite a lot of relations down there, plus his niece had started at the uni just last month. He still has cousins that he had not heard about ............ but was going to have to wait until he finished work to go home and email his sister in New Plymouth and hope that she would have collected information by then.

Sallie ... MJ is one on March 9 ............. time flies!!

I have doctor's appointment tomorrow .............. need new prescriptions, but will also get the result of the colon test I did the other week.

Joyce, Sallie has said it all for us. I too hope Jan's niece can get sorted soon with her leg.

Mo, Our problem is that we are so used to talking to people from Oz and NZ but we really have no idea of the geography of those places have we?

Sallie, send me your photos to put on. If I am away I think if you cans end them to Jude (you'd need her e mail addy), she would be able to add for you. Because she helped me set up the blog she also has access, but you will notice that anyhing she puts on the blog goes on under my name, except she signs it.
I think we are just going to have to bide our time and hope that eventually we here from Julia.

Huis, sorry you had another rat, still at least he is dead.

Did anyone see that story about those 8 swans shot in Somerset? Why would anyone want to do that? How cruel.

Sallie

Sallie Report 22 Feb 2011 20:31

Joyce, just seen your last post, I'm really sorry about the trouble that Jan's niece is having, and that she has to have another operation again. She really has had a very rough time.Let's hope that the operation will sort it out once and for all, and that everything will be a bit easier for her from now on. Please give her my best wishes when you speak to her next.

Joyce, it isn't very long since you lost your daughter, so it's only natural to still be upset about her. It will take a long time for you to come to terms with, a loss of one of your children whatever age, is the worse loss off all.
You'll shed many more tears over her, and it will slowly help you, but as Mo's said your daughter wouldn't want to see you making yourself ill over her.
So anytime you need us, we are all here for you, to listen and try and help you.

Huia, I knew you would be safe, because you're on the North Island, but I feel so very sorry about the people in Christchurch who have lost loved family, friends and their homes and businesses.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 22 Feb 2011 20:08

Thank goodness you are safe Huia. I know that we tend to panic over here, when bad things occur across the pond, but we have no idea, geographically where you are in relation to the quake.
It was the same when the floods hit OZ, we were concerned for Marie as well.

Sallie, my doctors surgery phoned me this evening, to say that my x-ray was normal. But I have an appointment to see my doc, on Monday afternoon, to try and find out where this ache in my upper ribs is originating from.

Huia

Huia Report 22 Feb 2011 19:52

For those of you who dont know, Christchurch is a loooooong way from where I live. I didnt know about the earthquake until 4 hours after it happened, when I got a message from a GR member asking if I was ok. That was the first I knew about it. It certainly is a shocker. At least there seems to be only the one fire.

Huia.

Hello Girls,

Right I'll try replying to you all again...almost finished writing one and it just disappeared.

Caz, sending you lots of love, and special thoughts for tomorrow, we're all here with our hands joined, and hoping upon hope that your results will be better than you expect. Thinking about you. Take care.

Mo, hope you are feeling a lot better now. When do you get the results of your xray?

Alun went for the usual blood test, Mo. The last blood test he had, the doctor was concerned about one of the results, it was to do with liver function, and his blood pressure was up a bit, too. So we'll see what the results of this blood test will bring.

The couple that came to see our house a couple of weeks ago, would deffinitely like to buy it, but they still have to sell theirs. It's a shame that they haven't got a two bedroom bungalow to sell, then we could do a swap....it would be great not having a chain.

Ann, still no word from Julia. I sent the second letter yesterday morning, but I'm not holding out any hopes that she''ll receive it. D still hasn't seen Julia's OH....I just hope, like everyone else, that both her and her OH are alright.

I had a quick read of the thread for Julia before I came on here, and what Piers has said on there, makes sense, I only hope that he's right.

We'll send a few more photos to your blog if you would like them. I'll get Alun to do it for me.....I can't do it myself.lol!! Ann, you put me to shame, with you being able to do so much and set up a blog too.

Sylvia, nice to see you back, but sorry that you and OH had a bit of a rough crossing to Vancouver Island on Thursday.
Pleased that you had a loely weekend with all your friends, and that you managed to escape the threatened snow.

Hope J, M and MJ are all well. It can't be too long before MJ will be one, but maybe I'm wrong, the time goes so quickly it's not easy keeping up with everything.

Joyce, the things are on the way to you, I hope you'll get them okay and that you'll like them. Sorry they are going to be a bit late.

It would be wonderful if you could meet your grandson after 28 years, I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll hear some good news before too long.

I also hope it won't be too long before both you Jan can get a doctors appointment, and that he will be able to do something to help the both of you.

Just wondering if your friend has been to visit you again this week...it must be so nice when she visits you, to be able to have a coversation face to face in English with someone other than Jan. I don't mean that in a horrible way, just that it's nice sometimes to have another woman to talk to, other than on the phone.

I'm sorry to hear about your son Michael being in hospital again, but I can understand why they didn't want you to know, as you have health problems and worries yourself. I hope he's feeling a bit better now Joyce.

Marie, it's nice to hear from you. You certainly have been very busy in the garden. It's good that you enjoy gardening, and it must give so much pleasure.

Will you son and daughter-in-law be living nearer to you when they move? It will be lovely for you if they are.
Take care.

Huia, I really hope that you can get rid of those rats before the winter, you don't want to have to part share your home with them. It's a pity you can't get someone in to get rid of them for you.

Hope Jean and J are having a good time in Llandudno.

Well, I'm going to get on with some mre cards now.

Speak to you all soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Now, Now ,Joyce, You know your daughter would be so cross with you, upsetting yourself like this.
And your son is feeling her loss as well, bless him. Your boy does not like you to be so upset, and you have to try and be strong, in her name, just as she would want you to be.

Poor Jan's niece has really been through so much hasn't she. I am surprised they have not put a balloon type contraption under her skin, to stretch it, so that when they operate, she has enough skin there to cover the wound.

Caz, we are all going to be with you in spirit tomorrow love. Stay strong. xxx

Oh Joyce, it would be wonderful for you, if you can trace your grandson.
Just imagine it's been 28 years since you have seen him, he's gone from a boy into manhood now, what a difference you will see in him.
I am sorry to hear about your son Michael, but can understand why he said not to tell you. He doesn't want you to have any more worries on your shoulders.
Oh by the way, how is Jans niece now. Is she out of hospital yet, and how did her operations go.
