Huia, if you want any photos put on my blog e mail them to me. It is meant for anyone to add photos.
Sallie, Where on your computer are your photos stored? It may be that I can talk you through sending them to me. If you can find your way around GR you can do that. Don't assume that you will be unable to do it. T is pretty good if I want him to do something (unless he is out at golf.).

Hello girls, look at me, all prettied up as a fairy. Luckily my son came today with baby Lilly, so I asked him to do things for me. I have yet to add who and where I am searching though, but will attempt to do that later.
I have been a busy bee today, cleaned all through the upstairs. And have got round to doing a job I dont like to do, and that is scrub all the wall tiles in the bathroom. It is tiled from floor to ceiling, so no mean task at the best of times, so it gets done once in a while, but not as often as it should really.
We have had another glorious day here today, but we had heavy rain first thing this morning. The plants in the garden, were looking very happy afterwards. Luckily we don't have a hose pipe ban at the moment, so they get a good watering each night, but theres no beating good ol rain water.
I hope that everyone is feeling o.k today, and not suffering to badly with the dampness that does affect our joints.
Huia, I am surprised Jean has not got her avatar up yet, coz she's such a quick learner at how to do things, whereas me, I am a real ficko where the internet is concerned.
Got to go and start to prepare the chinese for dinner tonight, so I will speak to you all later. Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Hi Ladies,
I'm pleased to say that we got a bit of good news last week, Richard's girlfriend Christie has found a job. Yesterday was an introduction day, and she starts the job on Monday. We are all so thrilled for her , as she's been out of work since that young man hit her, while working for WeightWatchers in Maidenhead.
She will now be working for Capita in Maidenhead as a junior accountant, so she's pleased, as she's already passed one accountancy exam and would like to get some more qualifications and experience. I must admit she's very quick working out the financial side of things.
Oh Mo, I like the photo you have on here. You are clever putting that on yourself.....I wouldn't know where to start, I think most of you on this thread know by now, how computer illiterate I am.lolol!!
I'm still waiting for Alun to put the photos of my cards on Ann's blog.....I keep reminding him, but at the moment I'm afraid he's so engrossed with doing his train layout. Hope all is well with Roly and the rest of your family. It can't be long now, before you become a greatgrandmother, can it?
Mo, how is Lily getting on? I hope she's alright. Sending her lots of hgs and kisses.xxxxxx
Sylvia, hope your few days of ME time went okay. Also hope that you have fully recovered from your cold. Is your OH back at home now? Sorry, I know you told us, but can't remember when you said he was due home.
We haven't heard anything about MJ lately, I hope he's okay. Also sending him lots of hugs and kisses.xxxxxx
Jean, hope your exercises are going alright, and that you have started getting used to doing them with no side effcts, or at least with hardly any at all. Thinking about you and sending you lots of hugs and positive thoughts. I also hope all is well with J and D.
Caz, I hear you went for a scan on Thursday, but the scanner wasn't working. You must have been very tired, what with hanging around at the hospital and all the effort involved of getting there and back home. I hope you have now got over your tiredness and feeling a bit better than you've been. Thinking about you, and sending you lots of hugs and positive thoughts. Ann, as you probably read at the beginning of my post, I'm still waiting for Alun to put the photos on your blog. I'm hoping that he will do them later on today. At the moment he's doing his layout, I don't mind normally, but it's starting to get to me now that he still hasn't sent the photos as he promised he would. Hope that both you and T are okay. I bet you don't have to wait so long for T to do any job that he's promised you he would do.lol!!
Joyce rang me earlier on, she doesn't sound too bad, but said that she had trouble getting out of bed this morning because of the pain of cramp and her back. Although she's cheerful enough, so that was good.
Marie, how are things with you and your family? I hope you are feeling better to what you were and are able to get out and about now.
Huia, hope all is well with you, and that all was okay with Phil when you last visited him.
.
Tess, I hope that you are alright, and still getting out and about okay.
Liz, I hope things are all okay with you. We miss seeing you on this thread.
~~~~~~~to Linda and Jude, I hope that both you and your familes are well.
Saying hello to anyone that I might have missed out.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxxx
Thanks Ann, I had a quick look. Maybe I will put up a blog of some of my photos some time, when the novelty of the 'new' GR has worn off :D
Now then Sallie and Mo and anybody else who doesnt have an avatar, get busy and put one on.
Hello Girls,
Huia, I sympathise with you for not being able to eat butter or cream.....I haven't been able to butter and cream( especially cream) for about 14 years. I also can't eat white bread, if I do eat it, I suffer quite a bit of pain for days. So I just stick to brown bread, although I would love to be able to eat freshly baked white.
It's a good idea that the owners of the Care Home, include the family of the residents in the plans they have to improve things for them. It sounds as though it's a very good Care Home. I'm sure it makes things a lot easier for you knowing that Phil is being well cared for.
Danni, Joyce's granddaughter, is still in hospital, she was hoping to go home today, but the results of her blood tests are causing some concern.....so she has to stay in until the doctors are satisfied with the results. The trouble is, I think she put her mind on going home today, so she is getting herself into a bit of a state.......she's very tired and crying a lot. I hope that she will be able to go home soon, as I'm sure she will feel better in her own home with James and their baby son.
I hope you are all okay.
I'm going to make our dinner now, and then I hope I can make a couple of cards, but might look in later.
Love, Sallie.xxx
Mo, I forgot to explain about the Family Participation meeting. It is a quarterly thing, where family of residents can all go along to hear what the owners have planned, and can comment or ask questions or make suggestions. They have been trying to get an all-plastic wheelbarrow for the residents to use in the garden. Alterations are being planned to the building to make more room and we were shown the plans, plus the materials that will be used for curtains and bedcovers and chair covers when they redecorate. All that sort of thing. They put on a bit of a spread for us, which I use as an early lunch! Beautiful muffins, but they had been spread with thick butter and later that afternoon I started to feel a bit 'off'. I cant seem to eat butter or cream these days, get this slight feeling of nausea. :(((
Huia my date is correct. GR started as Genes Connected in 2002. But originally the admin members were all individual members on here and used to post occasionally so maybe the date was taken from an individual member.
Ann, I am puzzled as to your date of membership. I am not questioning it, but GR has been a 'member' only since June 2003, 2 months after you became a member!
My avatar is not the one I originally chose. I tried a couple of times and was told 'we cannot display the page' so tried again with this one and got the same message, so I gave up, only to find when I came back on this thread that it was here. The bird displayed is NOT a Huia. I think it is some sort of crow though. It was made for me by somebody on another site. Sometime I might try to change the pic for one of the other ones that I was trying, now that I know how and what to expect.
Having the avatars makes it easier to go back to re-read what somebody said earlier. Just look for their avatar rather than name.
Huia (the old crow).
I like the new look, they seem to have taken our suggestions from the survey and put them into practice.
The butterfly is a photo I took in Tenerife Mo.
Go to your account and when you get in you should see, by the 'picture' the word change. Click on files, if you have photos on your pc go to where theya re stored and find the photo you want to add, I think if I remember rightly you click on download or something. The picture should then appear after a few seconds. It might help if you find the picture you want before you go to your account so you don't have to spend too much time searching.
Jean, hopefully it will be worth the unpleasantness when the exercises finally work.
Hi all xxx
well, what a surprise when I switched on to GR about 30 minutes ago!!
They did say on the GR wall on facebook that they were "amking changes"!
At least, we got the time back.
Actually, this layout is much like several other genealogy sites that I go on .. the photo at the side, how long you've been a member, how many posts you've made, ability to put on areas and/ or names that you're searchign for.
It'll just take a bit of time getting used to it on here!
OH had a good trip over, the weather was good. He said he had a lovely room in the hotel, on the 11th floor, with a beautiful view!
Meanwhile .... I found I wasn't sleepy, so I stayed up until 4 AM playing solitaire games on the computer. Went to bed, fell asleep right away ............ and was wide awake at 7 am
Surprisingly, maybe, I feel pretty good today!
Take care everyone
Hi again, we've just been to vote before Alun goes off to the Model Railway Club. We also have local elections today as well as the AV vote.
The Polling Station for this area is in the Infants School that both Richard and Jennie went to.....some of the children had drawn some pictures of the grounds and had made them into " please keep off the grass " signs, which had been put on to pieces of stick and placed all along both sides of the path up to the door. It was a good idea, and I bet the children thought that they were doing something important, making the signs.
Sylvia, hope you are feling better and that you are enjoying some ME time. Hope OH had a good and a safe journey to Vancouver Island.
Caz, if you are looking in, I hope things aren't too bad for you at the moment and that you are feeling a bit more comfortable.
Jean, I quite like the new look boards, altough I wasn't too sure when I first seen them earlier on today, but the longer I've been on here, the more I like them.
Hope you enjoyed your corned beef hash.....we had a shepherds pie, it was very nice too.
Mo, I hope all goes well for your neighbour's by-pass operation. It will be a good way each day to travel for his family to visit him. Although I'm sure they won't mind as long as he gets well.
Huia, I'm sorry I forget to ask how the family meeting went at Phil's place. I hope it all went well.
I hope all our other friends on here are alright.
I might look in later on.
Love, Sallie.xxx
Hello girls, Well what have they done to this site now then, I am not sure if I like the layout though. I know it says how long a person has been a member, and what areas they are searching in, but I feel like I am being watched by an invisable person seeing the outline of a person next to the posting.
Ann how did you get the butterfly by your name?. Love the plants in your baskets Ann, I need to get some more potting compost, as we have emptied our big concrete shoe, and it takes loads of compost to refill it. I had lots of Alpines in it for years, but the snow we had earlier in the year had killed them all off, so into the recycling bin they went.
Oooh Huia, tie yourself down my love, we don't want you getting blown away, like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, should you get the Tornado's they have forecast. Stay safe my friend. How did the family meeting, regarding Phil's care go.?
Well done our Jean, on getting through the ordeal, of your physio. God willing by this time next week, you will be so good at doing them, that they will tell have you demonstrating them for others. Take it easy honey, and don't overdo them will you.
Sylvia thanks for the explanation of Jeans problem, ( I cant pronounce it sorry) and yes we could use our Jean as a barometer. I was going to google it myself, but have no need to now, so thank you. Are you still enjoying the ME time Sylvia. I hope your OH had a good journey.
Sallie, thank you for updating us about young Danni, what a relief it is to have some good news for a change. I bet Joyce was thrilled to speak to Danni, and probably she can't wait to get back to Liverpool to see the baby and mummy. She will be so uplifted now that she knows Danni is on the mend.
Our neighbour is being tranferred up to St Thomas's hospital today, ready for his by-pass operation. Apparantly, when they received his medical notes, they phoned our local hospital and said, he must be transferred immediately. So much for his having to wait till next thursday, we knew all along that this was more urgent than they were letting on.
I will be back later, so bye for now girls. Love Mo xxx
Hello Girls,
Just to let you all know the good news.....spoke to Joyce this afternoon, Danni is better today but very tired. Joyce managed to speak to her on the phone earlier on, so she feels a lot happier having spoken to Danni herself. She appreciates all your good thoughts for her, Danni and her partner, and she'll speak to you all soon.
Jean, well done on doing your first lot of exercises. Pleased that by the time you had got to the last lot, the horrible symptoms you had, had all settled down. Let's hope that the exercises will do the trick.
Huia, I hope the weather forecasters are wrong and you won't get anymore tornados. Take care and stay safe.
I have to go and get the potatoes done now, so I'll drop in later on.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
