And now I saw this morning that police from our county have been sent as back up to London. OK well nice to send help, but we have cut our local police so what happens if anything kicks off here? Our police will be 2 hours away.

Mo, I hope you heard from your son, its a terrible thing to watch the tele showing all the riots, what can anyone one do against such mob rule, it must be awful for the families of the policemen and women who have to face the morans....I wonder what is going through the minds of the people who are doing it , also the shopkeepers, who serve the public, all adding to the sorry state this country is in, who pays the cost of trying to put it all right?????? so no use saying dont worry, but just offering my love and prayers to you and your son....always here for you.... love Jean xxx

Oh my word, I have just heard from my son. The business he works for, have been advised by the police to close early. Two retail units close to the business, were raided last night, and the police have been present all day. It looks like they are expecting more trouble tonight. This is in Orpington, Kent. I am waiting to hear that he arrives home safetly. It's so frightening for people all over the country. Apparantly they closed the Blue Water shopping Centre today as well, but have yet to hear why. Trains up to Cannon Street were also cancelled. The vandals are bringing the whole country to a full stop. Stay safe my friends. Love Mo xxx

It is frightening that the police can't seem to gain control. And it is nothing more than pure criminality and greed. The chance to get something for nothing. But the frightening thing is how blood thirsty these youngsters get, they seem to get taken over by it as if they are playing some great game on the internet. It doesn't seem real to them and they don't care who gets hurt. Some of the people who have lost their homes are probably as poor as the kids are but they are now homeless as well.

Good morning everyone. My goodness, what on earth is this country coming to, with all the rioting and looting in London. The troubles are starting to spread all over the country now. In fact last night here in the Medway area, there were riots and a multi storey car park set alight, no where near as bad as else where thank god, but who knows what tonight will bring. Stay safe my friends, god bless. Love Mo xxx

Good evening to anybody looking in.
Jean, thank you for the comments on my blog photos.
I am going to be busy again today when I get off here. I want to query an item on my rates bill, and I have to go to town to put in my application for the rebate, but have to make a payment when I do so. I also wanted to go to the library to look at the electoral rolls.
See you all later, I hope.
Huia.

Hello there Ann.
This morning (after I came off the internet) I phoned the superannuation people to find out what my annual income had been so I could apply for a rates rebate. All I know is that money goes into my bank account (I dont take too much notice of the exact amount) every fortnight and I use it, but to apply for the rebate I need to put in my annual gross income. Of course I had to sit on the phone for quite a while before I found out the amount.
After that I got ready to go to town to spend the afternoon in the hospice shop. I bought a nice fake fur blanket which I will use to replace one of the tatty old ones I have been using. The tatty one can be cut down into pet blankets. I have had it for 52 years and it has had moths in it. :-( I felt it was high time I got rid of it, even though it was a wedding present.
Last night I put more photos on my blog and started a 4th blog, of old NZ postcards. I might add some more photos tonight.
Huia.

Hello my lovelies, it's good to hear from you all again. It's amazing how this thread goes at times, sometimes we all seem to come on here on the same day, and at other times it may be days before we speak to each other. But at the end of it, we are still here for each other, and in this day and age that is a wonderful thing. And I thank you all for your friendship on here.
Tess, I feel sure your grandsons will enjoy themsleves, regardless of the weather, they are away with their dad, and that is the most important thing to children, the bonding time. They may have a few burnt offerings as meals dished up to them, but there must be a chippy somewhere near them, to fill them up a bit. You will soon burn those extra pounds off, when you are feeling better love, so don't worry to much about it.
Huia, I hope you had an enjoyable time with your sister, and that Phil was responsive to you when you saw him.
Oh Caz, not again love. I hope you are not black and blue from your fall. Rather than you having a wheel chair, I think we shall have to get you a skate board, it's closer to the ground, and not so far for you to fall. No walking sticks, just get your bum down onto the skateboard, and scoot around that way, it's got to be a safer option for you. Seriuosly though, please take care of yourself for us. mwah.
Sallie, I hope that things soon get sorted out for you. Stay strong love, we are all here for you, should you want to chat things over. <3 Has Alun been to his train club lately? and are you still doing your cards? Nosy old bat aint I.
Sylvia, I hope the weather holds out for when you go up to the cabin next Sunday. Will you take the fans with you, if the heat continues like it is. My fingers, toes, arms, legs and eyes will all be crossed for you on Wednesday love. It would be soooo nice if it was sorted out sooner than the autumn. It's such a B*g*er to have hanging over your head for that amount of time.
Hi Marie. I was beggining to think we had lost you to that internet beast that takes away our connections. ie G.R messing about again. They never seem to get things right do they, and they are supposed to be the experts.lol I bet there are a lot off people on here who could sort things out a damn sight quicker than they can themselves. How the singing group going now. Has the gentleman stayed with you, or did he give up after a few times of coming to you. I hope that the family are all well now.
Cooeee Ann, hows you and T doing these days. I hope you are both well.
Hugs((((((((((((((For Jean and Jeff))))))))))))))))))
Hugs((((((((((((((For Joyce))))))))))
Well my friends, I must go now. Lovely to hear from you all. Take care one and all. Love Mo xxx
Ooops Ann posted while I was typing. Ann I do play for a ladies darts team, but the other evening, I played for Roly's team as they were a player short. Also the summer league that we play in at the moment, has mixed teams, so we can be up against a man at any time.During the winter, it's only women we play against. But the man I played the other night, for roly's team,( an all male team under normal cicumstances) expected to be playing another man, and not me, so he treated me with disdain, and felt proud that he had walked all over me, and treated me like a doormat. Nasty nasty man.

Hello all. I think we often get this in the summer months, people are busy in their gardens or out enjoying the summer weather. Come the autumn we will all be more regular on here.
Sorry to hear you had another fall Caz, hope that you feel better tomorrow.
Thinking of you Sallie and hope that your family problems can be resolved.
marie I will PM you the blog address again. There is no reason that you should not be able to get on it.
Mo, I thought you played Ladies darts, but you mention a man treating you like a doormat!! :-S
Jean hope you can continue to keep the vertigo under control, at least during the day, but hope you can conquor it at night too.
Huia, can you not buy a large pasta bowl for Phil to use?
Tess, I hope you have finally got rid of your little visitors.

Hi all xx
it's quiet all over .............. I think people must be away or doing other things.
We're having some lovely weather here, FINALLY!
The sun is shining, even though we have had some cloudy mornings due to "marine cloud" that burns off by lunchtime. The temperature is in the mid-20s ........ a little hot for me, but we have fans in most rooms. I have one blowing a lovely cool breeze over me right now!
I go to the doctors on Wednesday, and hope to get the result of the biopsy. But, as I think I said earlier, I'm expecting to be sent to a surgeon for another biopsy. The radiologist said that this is what she thought she would be doing based on the first cursory exam of the tissue.
She said that it looked as though it would still be seen as benign ....... but she wasn't 100% sure. So there is still that 1-2% possibility
I might still be going through this in the autumn!
We're planning on going to the cabin next Sunday, and will spend about 10 days or so up there.
take care everyone

Hi Caz,
Yes you are right about this thread, it will be a shame if we all abandon it.
Sorry I haven't been on a few days, because as some of you know I've had a few problems with Richard and Christie and I've been too upset to come on here.
Caz, to you, Betty, Jude and Liz, I'm sorry I haven't replied to your PM's yet, but will do so in the next day or two. Thank you all for 'listening' and being there for me when I needed it.
Sylvia, how are things with you? I hope the results of your biopsy will be all clear.
Lovely to hear from you Marie, and to know that all is going well with your organisation of your family reunion.
I hope that all our friends on here are all okay.
I'll speak to you all soon.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

This thread is moving down all the time, where is everyone?. Hi to Huia and everyone else, it has cooled down a lot here at last, it has been so uncomfortable lately with the heat. It rained heavy this afternoon but we need it I suppose. Have you finished your patio Huia, and has it come up nice, I hope that spray you have keeps the moss and slime down now. I'm a bit fed up just at the moment, I had a bad fall this morning and hurt both knees and my back so I am going to have a bit of supper and go to bed. Hope everyone is keeping ok.
Love Caz xx

Sorry I haven't been on for a while. Just got tied up doing other things.
have had some (unwanted) visitors (mice) so been trying to tidy up everywhere, put poisen down etc.
Have now bought a potted mint plant, as am told that mice don't like the smell. haven't seen any since last Saturday. so hope that they have moved on. But wiil need to move furniture, fridge, freezer, cooker etc, to make sure that there is nothing nasty under them.
I was going to have my two youngest grandsons staying with me from today, for a week (or so) but son has now booked two weeks off work and is taking them camping in Cornwall instead.
I am hoping that the weather is favourable and that they cope (at worst) or enjoy themselves (at best).
They haven't been "proper camping" before, so this will be quite an adventure for them.
I have put on a stone (14lbs) in recent weeks. Think it is something to do with not feeling well enough to be active. I'm just not burning off enough calories.
The picture for August on my calendar is a lovely counrty scene fron Near Bratton, Wiltshire.
Has anyone been there?
Off to have a refreshing cup of tea,
Tess
