Sallie, they did have a finger buffet at the celebrations, but there were sooo many flies hanging around the food table, we just couldn't bring ourselves to touch it. yuk! Oh my god, what are they doing to your car. At that price, I would expect to have a complete new vehicle. lol Why didn't they notice that the fly wheel had gone earlier. Well not being a mechanic I wouldn't know one end of the vehicle to the other, but if they said it was one thing wrong, how has it now changed to something else as well. The trouble is, we become so reliant on our cars, that when they go wrong, we really miss having them.
It has been really warm here today. The thermostat in the car, was reading 29, and that for us, in this country is very warm.
I hope everyone is well, and that we hear from our dear missed friends soon. Love to you all. Mo xxx

Hi Girls,
Sorry I haven't been on here for a few days.....I've been busy making birthday cards, hope I can finish them soon so that I can make a start on my Christmas cards. Speaking of Christmas cards, we received our first Christmas card yesterday, off an Estate Agent and not even the one that we have our house still up for sale with.lol!!
Mo, that was a strange invitation that you and Roly had to the 25th wedding anniversary, I always thought that if you invited someone to celebrate a special occasion there would be some sort of food, if only finger food. Never mind Mo, at least you and Roly had a lovely meal out, so didn't lose out.
Huia, sorry to hear that Phil hardly opened his eyes while you were there. It was a good idea to take photographs of his bedroom and the grounds of the home and add them to your blog.
Well we stil haven't had our car back, it's still up in the garage in Yorkshire. The repairs that were first going to cost us £260 went up to £900 and then went up to nearly £1,500, the fly wheel had gone so that's why it's cost so much. So girls, it looks as though we'll be on dry bread and water for the next couple of weeks.lol!! I think it will be ready for us to pick it up on Tuesday.....as far as I'm concerned they can keep the damn thing, it's nothing but trouble.
I hope all our friends on here are all alright, it seems a long time since we've heard from some of them.
Well, I'm going to to a bit more of my cards now, so will speak to you soon.
Take care everyone.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Huia, it was not a blessing after all, just a buffet and drinks. We arrived at 3.15, and left at 5.00 and went and had a meal out. It was sooo boring that we were glad to get away. But we did have a lovely meal, and we are now sitting here in our jamas, enjoying a bit of t.v and relaxing.
What a shame Phil was unresponsive Huia. It must be very hard for you to see him like this. But at least you got to see your daughter, and were able to sit and have a chat with her.
Well I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. Bye for now, love to you all. Mo xxx

It sounds a bit like a dinner, Mo. Tomorrow afternoon I am going to Hunua for a farewell to a local couple. It is an afternoon tea, 'bring a plate'.
I visited Phil this morning, but he barely opened his eyes on a couple of occasions so I got my camera and photographed his present bedroom and went out into the garden to take some photos as well. I will have to put them on the computer so I can put them on my blog.
I then visited my daughter in Pukekohe. I had my lunch with me (always wise, so I dont overeat) but couldnt eat it there as her 2 dogs always think it is for them, so I drove up Pukekohe Hill and ate while I enjoyed the view in the lovely weather, also took some photos.

Good morning girls, sorry not to have posted yesterday, bu we were baby sitting baby Lilly last night. She was a good girl for nanny and grandad, not like the last time we sat for her, when she screamed the house down, for hours on end.
We are going to a silver wedding celebration this afternoon. It's a bit confusing, as the invitation say to be at the R.C church at 3.00p.m. But we are not sure if they are having a blessing done, or just a party in the church hall. But the timing is rather strange, 3.00p.m till 8.00p.m Still if it's so exciting, we could be home by 3.45 lol ;-)
Take care all. Love Mo xxx

YOO HOO, where is everybody? This was down low on page 4. It is more than 2 days since anybody posted on here. That goes for me too, of course. I have been out a couple of times and when I am home I havent been able to come online as I have been waiting for a phone call. I wish I could get broadband here, but at least I can fill the waiting time by scanning old negatives. I dont need to connect to the internet for that.
I will be going out again today, probably visit my daughter before lunch and Phil after lunch, so I had better start thinking about getting on with things.

Hello everyone. Jean, Linda has been suffering with the same problem as you, with the giddiness. I'm not sure if it's Vertigo, but it's on the same lines as yours. It's got a funny name, and I can't remember what it's called. But she seems to be a lot better now. She has just finished decorating her spare bedroom. Why do men never believe what we tell them, they have to hear it from someone higher up the chain. It sounds like the hospital are very pleased with Jeff's progress. How is D getting on, has she started her new job?
Oh Huia, what a pity that they might be moving Phil. He has now become accustomed to where he is, lets hope and pray that if they do move him, it doesn't unsettle him. Even a move to the hospital wing, could be bewildering for him, as he is used to the nursing staff where he is now. You mind how you walk in the frosty weather, you don't want to slip over and hurt yourself .
Oops phone.

Hi, everyone still here but not much, very busy trying to keep on top of things, and seeing to my man, although he is able to do a lot for himself now, he gets tired and that bugs him, however the doctor he has just been to see has told him how poorly he was, funny that, we have been telling him for ages, but does he listen .... yet the doc tells him and now he believes.... still at least he knows whats going on now.... the doctor did say it will be quite a long time before his body recovers the immense shock it recieved, so onwards and upwards...I do try and read what you are chatting about so keep at it , love to all of you, btw has anyone heard from Linda in Berkshire? it seems along time since we heard from her, I hope she is o.k. see you later be nice to each other and dont let our leader bully you, hear that Mo???? love and prayers Jean xxx

Good morning to Marie if she looks in and good evening to everybody else (Sylvia wont be looking in will she?).
Mo, I went through to Phils home yesterday as the woman in charge of his wing wanted to talk to me. She says the doc thinks he should be reassessed for a higher level of care - private hospital. Not that he is sick, but now that he doesnt try to walk around unaided, and doesnt get up in the night he doesnt need such intensive monitoring. He could go into the hospital wing of the place he is in or I could find a private hospital nearer to me, but where he is is only 20 mins extra drive from Papakura and I usually combine a visit with shopping anyway. I will miss the lovely carers in his current wing but I suppose they are just as lovely elsewhere. At least I hope they are.
I almost slipped over on our verandah this morning. I walked across it and when I turned to come back I realised it was very icy. I was 'frozen' to the spot for a while while I tried to decide what I was going to do. I finally managed to get back safely but it was a nerve-wracking moment or three for me. I wont be doing that in again in a hurry while this cold weather lasts.

Hi Everyone,
Mo, our car should be ready to pick up some time tomorrow, so up until now we are hoping to get the 11 O clock morning train from Derby to Leeds and then the local train from Leeds to Guisley. We will then have to get a taxi from Guisley station to the garage which is a few miles away.
Alun's sister is going away for a few days in the morning, so we won't be able to meet for some lunch as we had hoped......we had hoped that the car would have been ready to pick up today.
Ann, I have a few more cards for your blog, so as soon as Alun has taken photos of them I will send them to you. We went to Derby this morning, and as usual I had to go into the craft shops and ended up buying more than I needed.... some Christmas stuff that I couldn't resist.lol!!
Huia, we did hear on one of our weather forecasts here about some parts of NZ having snow.
Tess hope you are okay, we haven't heard from you for a while. I hope the riots in Birmingham wasn't anywhere near you.
Betty, hope you are feeling better than you've been. Have you had the results of the colonoscopy yet? If you have, hope that everthing was alright.
Joyce rang me earlier on this evening, she was upset by the bad news on Deanna. Jan is off from work for another week as he is suffering from gout.
Jean I hope things are all okay with you, Jeff and Debra.
Marie hope all is going according to plan with the family reunion.
Caz, I hope you are still managing to do your cards. Do you know when you are going to the Range with Carol? It will be a nice couple of hours out for you with someone with the same interest as yourself.
I hope Sylvia and OH will have a lovely week at the cabin with some good weather.
Liz, if you're looking in, I hear from Joyce that you still haven't received your birthday card from me. I can't understand why you haven't got it as it was posted the same time as I posted one to a friend of mine, and she's received hers. I'm sorry.
Well ladies, I'll say goodnight now, speak to you all soon.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Caz, long time no hear from you, I hope you are bearing up.
Joyce how are you and Jan keeping nowadays love.
Ann, are you and T going on holiday again soon.
Tess, I hope you are feeling brighter, now that the weather has turned better.
Marie, I hope that the arrangements for the reunion are still proceeding well.
Sallie, how are you and Alun today. Anymore news on the car repairs.
Huia, how is Phil doing now. Have you been to see him lately.
It's no good me asking how Sylvia is, because if she answers me, it would be a miracle.
I hope Betty is o.k as well.
No news from Liz in ages, but I see she is still posting, so assume she is well.
Now have I forgotten anyone, I do hope not, but if I have please forgive me. Love to all. Mo xxx

Hi Mo,
Yes thanks I'm feeling a lot better now, slowly coming to terms about the way things have been and to a certain extent still are......but things are better than they were, so I hope that they will continue that way from now on.
There is also another job to be done on the car but once we get it back we can take it to the garage that have done all the repairs on all the family and some of our friends cars for the last 18 years.
Hope that you'll be able to find some pyjamas for Lilly. I know that the babies pyjamas I've seen in some of the children and baby clothes shops don't come cheap.
Bye for now, speak to you all soon.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Good evening all (morning to Marie when she looks in).
Yesterday it snowed in Pukekohe, something it rarely does. I had been there but it didnt snow until I had left for Papakura. Then when I was in the hospice shop the radio reported snow at Bombay (just south of us) and later on snow in Queen St Auckland, a very rare event. I dont know if it snowed in our hills here, I didnt get home until 5pm so missed seeing anything. I am going to be out most of today as well and there are forecasts of more snow falls, but at present it is a cold frosty morning with sunshine.

Oh good grief Sallie, thank goodness you were not to far away from your destination when the car broke down. It's a good job you had the A.A to help you out. The last time we broke down, we had recovery as well, so they bought us home, so that we could use our local Ford garage for repairs. They have always done our servicing etc, so we felt safe in their hands. I hope you are feeling a little better now, and not so depressed love. It's sounds like you had fun meeting up with your friends today. Having a good natter does you the world of good.
I hope I am not to late to wish Sylvia and OH a lovely time at the cabin.
How has everyone been this fine day. We have had glorious sunshine yet again, but it has just started to spit with rain.
Take care one and all. (((((((((((((SPECIAL HUGS FOR JEAN)))))))))))))) Love Mo xxx

Hi Girls,
Sylvia, enjoy your break at the cabin, I'll be thinking about you.
Jean hope things are alright with you and that your vertigo is a lot better. How is Jeff getting on with driving the car again? I'm sure he must feel pleased to be back behind the wheel again. Also hope that Debra is getting along okay and coping well.
I met my two friends for lunch today, it turned into a very long lunch break. just over three hours.lol!! One of them lost her brother a few months ago, from leukemia, and up until now hasn't accepted his death. So this morning she went to the doctors and they have put her in touch with Cruse, so hopefully she then be able to start to move on.
We went up to Alun's sister's in Ilkley yesterday to celebrate her and her hubby's 40th Wedding Anniversary, we all had a lovely time with their family and friends......the only problem was that our car broke down on the way there in between Leeds and Ilkley, where they live. Alun's nieice came and picked Jennie and I up, and took us to Alun's sister's while Alun and Michael went with the AA and took the car to a garage in Guisley (where we broke down)and then they got a taxi and joined us all. At least we could join in the celebrations. Later she took us to Leeds so that we could catch the train home to Derby, where Michael's eldest brother picked us up at the station.
Alun and I will go back up on the train to Leeds on Wednesday to pick the car up, hopefully it will be ready by then. The mechanic from the garage rang Alun at lunchtime and told him that the master cylinder had gone and that they had to order the part and it will cost us £260 to have it done. It costs enough running a car without having to pay out for things like repairs, but there again we have to pay for the convenience of having it.lol!!
Hope everyone else is alright.
Thinking of you all.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
