~~~~ to everybody who looks in. I will be going out soon.
Mo, you take care of yourself, and stop sneezing all over us. I have random sneezing fits from time to time, sneeze about 30 times in a row. It does my throat in.
Jean please say well done to Debra for passing her exams.
Mo Hope the cold goes soon.
Everyone else, just a note from Tenerife, the weather is great and we are so glad to be back here. It is very quiet though so the recession appears to be biting.
Can't imagine freesias ever being a nuisance the perfume is so lovely.
Thanks for the explanation Huia.
I have just popped in quickly to say hello, as I am not feeling brilliant today.
It looks like I have caught a Summer cold, in the Autumn.
Streaming nose, headache, achy joints, sneezing like theres no tomorrow, oh woe is me.
Take care girls, love Mo xxx
I should have added an ability to move stealthily and open doors carefully so as not to frighten the birds, Mo.
Mo, it is not so much skill as lots of patience and a camera that will zoom in on them. I took another photo this morning of one of them, and was going to try to get a photo of them both together but they took off while I was trying to get the camera to focus on them.
I put some photos of the birds on my blog, also photos from son's friend of the snow in our hills. Not that we have it very often and it wasnt as heavy as some of you have in England, or we have in the South Island, but we dont often have snow up in these hills.
I have now found that I can add text onto my photos, so I will be doing that with some of the group photos of people so that they are named for posterity.
Cooeee girls, sorry to have been missing for the last couple of days, but it's been a busy time.
Yesterday I spent most off the day, doing food preparation for darts presentation last night.
It must have been good, because there was hardly any food left at the end off the night. Ooo I do hate waste, and would have bought the remains home with me, to put out for the birds.
Jean, will you please congratulate Debra for me. She did exceptionally well, considering the circumstances at the time.
You and Jeff have every right to be proud of her.
How are the pair of you keeping now, both plodding along nicely I hope.
Hi there Caz, how are you coping in the warm weather now. I am pleased that it has warmed up though, as for a few days I was so cold, I was tempted to put the fire on. But then you think to yourself August is to soon to do that. And now here we are in September, and it's brightened up a bit thank the lord.
Today my home must have thought it was it's birthday. It has been blitzed from top to bottom, all the bedding washed and dried, so now the house is glistening, but it wont last, not with Roly dropping crumbs everywhere. lol
I hope Sylvia is enjoying herself at her friends house on the Island.
Huia honey, the birds on your Avatar look really sweet. You are so good at your photography, to capture them like that takes skill.
I wonder where our Sallie has got to, and also if she is o.k now (((((Hugs)))))
for Sallie.
Must go now girls, take care. Love Mo xxx
Come on peeps where is everyone, even Huia is missing and I look for her first on a morning.
Sylvia I can sympathise with you with your toe as I have arthritis in both my big toe joints, near the ball of my foot. I wonder why they use ice to treat it, when I use to go to the physio for mine we always ened up with ice packs on our knees, in my case both.
It's been hot today, maybe the summer we missed has started at last. Oh my tea is ready sooner than expected, hope to see more peeps on here next time, or have we all run out of news?
Hi Sylvia if you are still around. The freesias in my garden are getting everywhere, but I do love the scent. They are the old-fashioned one, not the fancy larger and coloured ones. I also have a white violet which has spread itself around. On a sunny day I can smell the flowers without bending.
Hi all
xx
I remember being devastated back in 1975 when I discovered that freesias had been declared a pest in Australia!
but after all one definition of a weed is "a plant growing where you do not want it to grow"!
We're going to the Island tomorrow to stay with our best friends until next Tuesday ........ it's a long weekend here. Labour Day is Monday, and that is the traditional "end" of summer. All educational establishments that have not yet gone back will start their new year on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, I'm going to be a little handicapped ............ the arthritis in one of my big toe joints decided to act up over the weekend. Now it is all red and swollen ........ and pretty painful to walk on! Plus, there are only certain shoes and sandals that I can wear!
I saw the physio yesterday ........... he put an ice pack on my foot while he did all the other treatments. I think the ice was on there for at least 40 minutes! Not much else to do though than rest, ice and elevate it.
We will be back latish on Tuesday.
Have a good weekend
Good evening Sallie.
Ann, the ordinary agapanthus seed down very freely here. I had some lining my drive until Phil decided they were a pest and dug them all up as they were marching down the road. He also dug or pulled up any he found down the road. They have been declared a pest in NZ, although there are one or two varieties that dont seed so freely and I think they are acceptable.
Hi Girls,
Just a quick look in to see how you all are. Hope you are all alright.
Ann I know you are due to go away, but not sure when you go. Hope that you and Tony have a lovely time, take care.
Hope you received your anniversary card that I sent you and T, sorry I didn't send it until late on Friday evening, so hope that you've got it by now.
We got a shock on Saturday, the neighbours living opposite us were on holiday last week and the hubby slipped as he was getting out of the bath, bumped his head and died. He was in his middle to late thirties.....his wife has a very good job so he stayed at home to look after their two sons aged 9 and 4....he was a nice person, I feel so sorry for his wife and the boys.
Well I'll speak to you all soon. Take care.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
Huia Agapanthus are quite expensive in our garden centres, I never considered they could be a pest, they are so pretty.
I took my lunch up to Cossey's Dam at Hunua today and walked around for a while taking lots of photos, until some of the people came back from baiting the various traps. Had a nice chat with them. I might do it more often, on a Wednesday, in fact I might offer to take a spade or fork to dig out the agapanthus plants that are growing wild up there. They are considered a pest in New Zealand.
I will be off to bed soon, so behave yourselves when you come on here girls.
Brrrrr good evening girls.
It's blessed well cold here today, what the heck has happened to that thing called summer. I don't call the few days of warmth we had as our summer.
I hope you are all o.k. Off I go to make a nice hot drink, to warm myself up a bit.
Love to you all. Mo xxx
Mo, I am mainly standing so that I have somebody for whom I can vote, and so that our party hopefully will get a bit of local publicity. In the last election we did not have a local candidate and the local papers ignored us, also meetings that were organised for candidates ignored us. I might have to go to such meetings this time, but I might get somebody else to stand-in for me if there are too many at night. I was a candidate some years ago so have made speeches, but there are better speakers in our party than I am.
My son forwarded an email to me with photos of the snow that fell in these hills. I must ask his friend if I can put some on my blog.
We went to a flea and collectors fair in Malvern and boy was it cold!!! There were hundreds of stalls with lots of things to look at, I only bought some craft stamps but it was fun looking, we were home by 2pm which was good as we have loads to do before going away. At least it is warmer in Tenerife than it is here which is something to look forward to.
Hello ladies,
Huia, whats this about being a candidate in your elections. What does this involve love, and are we going to have to call you your ladyship or some other grand title.
I forgot about that bloomin steer getting into your garden and trampling the lawn down.
So what exciting things have we all been up to this weekend.
We decided this morning, to take a trip down to Hastings in Sussex.
We thought we would spend a couple of hours in the Park there, before going down to the sea front.
There was a dog show going on in the park, and that was lovely.
By the time we set off to go down to the sea front, the traffic was nose to tail, so we turned around and came home. Fortunately for us, the journey is not a long one, only 1 hour 15 minutes away.
But it has been a really enjoyable day all in all.
Just going to have a nice cup of tea, and then start the dinner. Bye for now girls. Love Mo xxx
