Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 2 Oct 2011 18:46

Hello girls, how are we all today.

Another beautiful day here in Kent, the sun was oh so hot that I couldn't bear to be out in it for long.
The roads going to the coast were chocker block, with cars bumper to bumper.
Thank goodness we were not cooped up in the car sweating buckets. We do have an air conditioner in the car, but we love to feel the wind blowing in our face, rather than starting to freeze when the aircon kicks in fully.

My word Sylv's, I'm surprised you didn't fall apart after she had taken that amount of staples out. Thats probably why you were in surgery so long, it must have taken them ages to staple you together again.
Have they said how long the drains will be in for. I bet you can't wait to be able to have a lovely soak in your bath.

Ann, wasn't T able to get a few rounds of golf in while you were away.
We dont go abroad for our holidays, but my son always goes to countries, where he and my grandson can get to a few golf courses.
My daughter in law and grandaughter, are pleased when they go, so that they can then go and get some pampering done on themselves.

Hi there Sallie, good to see you back, but sad that you have caught that blessed virus that seems to be doing the rounds again.
So many people in this area, have been plagueing the doctors with flu/ cold like symptoms, and the doctors are saying it's a virus. Mind you, most things these days they attributed to a virus.
My daughter will be 47 on Wednesday, and she had to see the emergency doctor yesterday as she had not been feeling to well for a few days. The doctor has told her she has got Shingles.
She will have to have at least a week off of work. But I didn't think that shingles was contagious, but the G.P told her it could be.
Both my mum and Roly have had it, and I cared for both of them, so I just hope I dont catch it now, thats all I would need. lol

Has anyone had their flu jab yet? I was told I would have to wait till after my birthday, but some of my friends who have had it, have had sore arms following it, more so than at any other time.

Well my lovely friends, I will say cheerio for now, take good care of yourselves. Love Mo xxx

Hi Girls,

Sorry I haven't been on for a few days, I've been under the weather with a heavy cold so I haven't done much over th last three days, although I've made three Christmas cards this evening, so Imust be feeling better.

Sylvia, I can't get over how many staples you had, I'm sure you must feel a lot more comfortable now that they've been removed. It will be nice when the you have the drain removed too, so that you can have a shower or bath, you'll feel a lot better then.

Have they told when it will be removed? Hope it's over the next day or two.

How is ope MJ doing? Hope he's alright, I expect he's really grown a lot by now.

Ann, nice to 'see' you home and pleased to know that you and T had a lovely holiday.
The trouble with going on holiday, is all the gardening when you get home.
Still it's nice to go away.

Mo, well done on your win at darts and also your win at bingo. As you say your win paid for your night out.

It certainly sounds as though Lilly is growing very fast.....they don't seem to be babies very long, which is a shame......oh, I love babies.

Caz, I hope you are feeling better, and that the infection is going.

Jean, hope all is well with you, Jeff and Debra.

Hope that all our other friends are all well.

Will speak to you all tomorrow.

Sylvia, glad to hear the staples are removed but sorry you still have the drain in.

Well done Mo on the darts win and the £6 bingo win, not something I play so I am not likely to win any money there.

Yes travelling is very tiring even if you are sitting most of the time as we were. It has taken a few days for our bodies to get back to normal and we are still waking up late. On holiday we were going to bed about 11/11.30 and waking around 9am. We are back to going to bed before 11 and still waking up late, although not as late as 9am. In Tenerife it doesn't get light until after 07.30 which is why we woke up later I think. Almost back to normal now though.
It was not so much the weeds as the lawn which was so long. It all looked much better once that was cut and a few shrubs trimmed back.

Trust me! :-D :-D :-D

Drain still in :-(

no shower tomorrow :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

Hello strangers,
Sorry to have been missing for the last few days, but have been a busy bee.
I hope that Huia is enjoying her well deserved holiday, I know we will miss her, but she will have lots to tell us when she gets back.

Welcome home Ann, so good to hear that you had a lovely time.
13 hours is a long time to be travelling. The problem with that is, that when we get home, our body is still in travel mode, and takes us a while to settle down and get some rest to recover.
The garden takes some putting to right following a holiday doesn't it. The weeds seem to take over, if they get a chance.

We won at darts on Thursday night, and last night I went to bingo with my daughter and grandaughter.
It was free last night, and I had two wins, my grandaughter won once, and my daughter had to share a win. We ended up winning £6.00 each, saying it was a free night that was not bad was it. lol
I went to see our cheeky little monkey Lilly today. She is growing up so fast, it doesn't seem possible to think she was only born last January, yet she seems so advanced for her age.

I hope that everyone is well, and enjoying our lovely weather.

Sylvia, I hope you are continuing to improve, and feel better every day.

Not much action on here the past couple of days. Well we returned on 29that 12,30am (that was the time we reached home after 13 hours travelling.) We had a lovely time and it was great to get home to an Indian summer, so it was on with the shorts again and we felt quite at home in the heat. Have now managed to return the garden to its proper state and done 3 loads of washing. Took a day out to go to Cheltenham today. Next week I have to start on my Christmas cards and finish off the washing. And T will have to catch up with his golf.

good to read all the news, Pleased the cancer count is down Caz and I hope you can soon kick the kidney infection into touch. Pleased to see that you are making progress Sylvia, well done.

Hello to Mo, Jean and others and I hope that Huia has a great holiday.

Sallie Report 28 Sep 2011 22:50

Caz, I'm so pleased to hear that the cancer count in your blood is down, thank goodness for that.

Hope that your kidney infection will soon be gone......even though the antibiotics are doing the job, I sometimes think that they just don't work as quick as we want them to.lol!!

Sylvia, good luck for tomorrow, I will be thinking about you.

Carrying on the chain for both Sylvia and Caz.

YorkshireCaz Report 28 Sep 2011 19:41

Thank you all for your kind concern for my illness, it is painful and making me feel so ill. I had to go to the cancer doctor this morning and everyone asked if I was ok as I looked poorly, lol, if I wasn't already feeling it I would have after all that.
The good news is that the cancer count is going down in my blood so I am really pleased at that, I didn't really want to go and thought of cancelling but I'm glad I went now.
Sylvia those drains are uncomfortable aren't they, I had one in when I had my cancer out but then I got an abcess and MRSA in the wound where it had been, I must be so unlucky. I'll be thinking of you on Thursday when you have the drain out.

Got to go so hello to everyone else and I hope I'm back to normal soon.

Love Caz. xx

Hi Sylvia,

I'm sure you feel a lot better after having your hair done, hope it wasn't too uncomfortable for you while you were having it washed.

Hope you enjoyed your trip out for morning coffee, it was very kind of the owners to give you a free latte to welcome you back.

Will be thinking of you on Thursday when you have the drain taken out..it will be more comfortable for you then, I'm sure.

Well I'll say goodnight now, speak to you soon.

I have started packing, but I cant decide what clothes to take. I think I will have to take one top and sweat shirt in each of 3 colours and then if there is still room in my bag shove some extras in. Decisions, decisions. I usually take too much anyway.

Hi all
xxx

Caz ........ hope you are beginning to feel better as the antibiotics take effect.

1 week progress report .......

Things are gradually improving.

I still have an untold number of staples in an incredibly long incision, and a drain. Hopefully, the drain will be removed on Thursday, and then I can have a SHOWER on Friday :-D

If not, then I will have to wait until Monday ......... and have the first celebratory shower on Tuesday

I have made an appointment with my hairdresser for this afternoon to get my hair WASHED. Oh JOY! :-)

I still have to keep my left arm close against my body, to provide some support ................. and also as a reminder NOT to make many movements!

BUT ... I can now move my left forearm and hand with more ease and without causing too much discomfort, so I can ....................... now type with 3 fingers .......... one of which is on my left hand!

I went out yesterday for the first time ...... for afternoon coffee. The coffee shop owners gave me a free latte. as a welcome back.

This has not been the most enjoyable time, but we're getting there!

Thank you everyone for your support, good wishes, and the chain of support.

Good evening all.

One more sleep to go! I havent packed my things yet. This afternoon I will be taking the cat in to my friend in Papakura - if I can get her into the carry cage. I might finish up in hospital with multiple lacerations. :-|

Better get moving, you probably wont hear from me again until after I get back.

Oh darn it I missed Sallie again, coooe lovey.

Spiders dont worry me at all, I suppose it was being bought up in a country that had great big spiders and beetles, also snakes and other creepy crawlies.
My cat used to love chasing them round, so the chances are that Jennies dog did get it.
Mind you at this time of year we do tend to get lots of spiders in the houses dont we.
Some people say that conkers keep them at bay, but I have never tried it, so cant guarantee it working.
Well I am orft now, so speak to you tomorrow girls.
Love to all. Mo xxx

Sallie Report 27 Sep 2011 16:37

Hi Girls,

Yes Mo I was late posting last night as I had a card I wanted to finish off
first.
Earlier in the evening we got a call from Jennie asking if we could go over there to try and catch a big spider, as Michael was in work, Jennie is terrified of them. So that held my card making up a bit....... of course there was no sign of the spider by the time we got there.lol!! I rang her at ten to see if she had seen it again, she hadn't, but Michael had just arrived home from work so she had him searching for it as soon as he stepped over the doorstep.lol!!
Both Alun and I think that their dog Jay had caught it and eaten it while Jennie sat in the kitchen waiting for us to arrive...she was too frightened to sit in the living room.

Went to Derby this morning, as I needed a few bits and pieces for my cards. It was quite nice there, the weather was lovely and it wasn't too busy. So I had some lunch there in my favourite tea room, just a sandwich and a cuppa but I enjoyed it.

Sorry you lost last night, but as you said, never mind it was the last match for them and you still have the other leagues that you play in, which sound a lot nicer. Good luck with your matches for them.

Caz, hope you are feeling a bit better today. I'm thinking about you and hoping that you will be a lot better soon.

Jennie had a kidney infection quite a few years ago, when she was in year 7 of the secondary school, she was in a good bit of pain and felt really poorly with it.

Jean, how are things with you? Alright I hope. Are you still busy doing more cards.
My problem is that once I start making them I forget about everything else.lol!!! So I thought I'd post on here before I make a start, or otherwise I'll be posting late again tonight.

Sylvia, hope everything is still going along alright for you, and that each day gets easier for you. Thinking about you.

Ann, I can't remember when you are due home from holiday, although I'm sure it's within the next couple of days. Looking forward to hearing from you and hearing all about your holiday. Take care and have a safe journey home.

I haven't heard from Dutch for quite a few days so hope that she's okay.

Huia, take care and enjoy your holiday. Wishing you a safe journey.

I'm not sure if Marie has already gone to the family reunion. Hope it all goes well for her, as she has put a lot of time and effort into arranging it all.

Betty we haven't heard from you for a while, hope all is well with you. Take care.

Chain of love and good wishes for Sylvia and Caz. We're all thinking about you both.

My goodness Sallie, you were posting late last night.
Yes last night was my last game for that league, we lost as per normal lol.
Not upset about it though I have to admit, I can now get back to normal.
I am still playing two nights a week though, thats Mondays and Thursdays, it's more fun in those leagues.
Like your brother, I love the Meercats adverts on the t.v, I find them so funny but cuddly.

Cooee Jean, lovely to see you posting. How the devil are you both doing.?

Sylvia, take it slowly please, dont try to type with three fingers just yet, or you will fall off the chair.
It's so lovely to hear from you.
I hope you enjoyed the visit from your sister in law, and that she didn't talk the legs of you.

Get well soon Caz, drink plenty to flush it out of your system love.

Hi Girls,

Sylvia, you are doing really well as it's only a week since you had the operation.....you certainly have plenty of good spirit and determination. It's lovely to hear from you and to know how you are getting on.

Jean, I'm sorry to hear about Caz having a kidney infection. I hope that the antibiotics will start to work and that she will soon feel better. Please would you pass on my love and get well wishes to her. I'm thinking about her.

Mo, yes I'm cracking on with card making now.....although I'm not making any for my brother's church this year. I have quite a few birthday cards to make as well as my Christmas cards, and I also have a desk calendar to make for my brother as part of his Christmas present from Jennie and Michael.
He loves meercats, so I'm making him one with meercats on...,, just hope he likes it.

Was it your last darts match tonight with that team? If so, I hope you won.

Huia, pleased to hear that you headaches were nothing too worrying and that you are able to go on holiday as planned. Hope you have a great time
and that you'll also get some good weather. Take care and enjoy.

Well, I'm off to bed now, so will speak to you all again tomorrow.
Thinking of all our friends on here and hoping that all is well with them.

Continuing our chain of love and good wishes to Sylvia and also to Caz.
