I am so pleased for you Sylvia. Best wishes for a long and happy life.

No, girls, I did not go to India. Bombay is just a few miles south of here. We talk of Aucklanders being 'north of the Bombay Hills'. The men I met had my billboards with my name on. We put up 2 double sided ones, that is to say, in a v shape. We were going to put up another couple at Waiuku but we ran out of timber as we needed to try to stop the others from falling over. The Waiuku site is not really suitable anyway for the large billboards so I might talk the landowner into just having a 'fence' sign which is smaller, and just promotes the party. I can put the large ones elsewhere if I can get some helpers.

We have a site booked for the Clevedon A & P show this weekend. Now I need to find somebody to help me put up the gazebo thing I bought. It can be set up on Friday but if I dont get any helpers then, I will have to wait until the others arrive on Sat. morning. I dont have too many helpers in this neck of the woods. :-(

Time to start thinking about dinner.

Huia.

Hi Mo and everyone
xxxx

I'M CLEAR !!!!!!

:-D :-D :-D :-D

I saw the radiologist at the BC Cancer Agency this morning ....... he said I did not need radiation treatment because the cancer was so very small.

It was only 2 mm in diameter

BUT .....................

because the cancer was invasive, and there were cells in the breast tissue, there is a very slight chance (2-5%) that a cancer cell may have got into the blood, so I am going on a course of tamoxifen for 5 years.

I go back to see the radiologist in 3 months to check whether it is working, whether there are any side effects, etc etc.

Thank you everyone for all your good wishes, and positive thinking! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

It seems I am "special" (blows on fingernails, and shines them on sweater :-D )

They very rarely get anyone at the Cancer Agency with a cancer so small ............... so there are no records, reports or analyses for them to consult on the risk of taking or not taking tamoxifen.

So it was very much a case of tossing the balls in the air and guessing whether the benefit would outweigh taking another drug or the known side effects .............. which include hot flashes (again!!!)

It seems that tamoxifen reduces the risk of recurrence by about 50% ..... so a 10% chance of recurrence would be reduced to about 5%

In my case, a risk rate of 2-5% means that the reduction would be to 1-2½%

Belts and braces comes to mind!!

Anyway, we are over the moon ................ and get back to normal life, whatever "normal" is!

Hi girls, I haven't been on here for a while as I haven't been too well. Please don't take this thread off Mo, it's a way of keeping in touch with our friends who all post on it. It's my favourite thread, I never have any news of my own being housebound but I love to hear everyone elses.
Can't write more but please leave it on Mo.

Jean just seen your post, agree this site is a pain in the neck. Last week we had problems for days and days and now we have more problems. I think it's about time GR sorted it out once and for all, it isn't any wonder that some members can't be bothered to post anymore. Sorry I had to have another moan about GR.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Sallie Report 7 Nov 2011 20:13

Good luck for tonight Mo. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Will Lilly and her mum and dad be with you on Christmas Day or at least for part of it? As you say Mo, the time goes so quickly and I think the older I get the quicker it goes.

Huia, I too was hoping that you didn't have to go all the way to Bombay in India to meet a man.lolol!! Anyway hope the meeting went okay.

Well ladies I'll say goodnight now, will speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 7 Nov 2011 19:43

Huia, I presume the Bombay you are referring to is not the Bombay in India.
Thats one heck of a long way to go to meet a man. lol ;-)

Sallie, yes love I have got a darts match tonight, I don't know how we will fare, but it's a night out, and it's better than staying in night after night.

It's so nice to hear from you again my friends, it's been very quiet on here lately.
I know that when the winter months arrive in the good old U.K we tend to close our curtains, and sit in front of our fires and hibernate.
But I love to hear from you all, and I know for sure our Jean does.

As has been said earlier, a lot of our friends seem to have vanished from the face of the earth.
I do often wonder how Debbie and her young family are doing as well Jean. The youngsters used to get up to such fun, and it was good to read about their adventures.

I will take your advice Sylvia, and leave the thread where it is for now.
I hope you are still progressing well my dear.
How is young M.J doing. Will you be seeing him over the christmas period?

I can't belive that our little Lilly is nearly ten months old, time goes so quickly.
I am really looking forward to her opening her first christmas presents.
And no doubt she will be more interested in the wrapping, rather than the gifts themselves.

Well my lovelies, I must away and get ready. So take care one and all.
Love and best wishes Mo xxx

Hello all. I am still here, but very busy. I went to a Gilbert and Sullivan concert on Sunday afternoon and yesterday was working in the hospice shop. I am up early today as I have to go to Bombay to meet a man with my billboards and presumably help him to put them up so will probably be out most of the day.

Time to go and get dressed now.

Hi Girls,

Oooh it is nice to see hear from you all. This has been a lonely thread for quite a while now but as you all say we don't want Mo to delete. So Mo we'll all have to try and post on here a bit more than we have done lately.

Sylvia, hope things are going along well for you. Also hope that your family are all well.

Ann, glad to hear that you and T enjoyed your weekend with your daughter and her family. It's lovely to see them all especially when you don't live near enough to them to see them all more often.

Jean, hope you will soon start to feel better. As the saying goes,'old age doesn't come by itself'.lolol!! I think most of us on here know how you feel.
Pleased to hear that Jeff is improving and able to do a bit more than he has been able to for a long while. I hope all is well with Debra too.

I've been to Derby this morning, had to go to one of the craft shops there so that I could get some more paper I needed.Again I spent more than I had intended to on a few bits and bobs. I also bought a couple of Christmas presents from another shop, so don't feel so bad about buying more stashlol!!
I keep saying that I'm not going to do anymore cards to save money and so that the dining room will be a lot tidier, but I still keep doing them.

Mo, hope Roly is feeling a bit better than he was yesterday afternoon.

Do you have a darts match tonight? If you have hope you and your team will win.

I wonder where Huia is...she's usually about. Hope things are not too bad with Phil.

Caz, if you are looking in, I hope you are feeling a little bit better today. I will be thinking about you.

Hope things are okay with Tess and Betty.

Like Jean I also looked back on the thread last week, it was lovely, we all had so much to say then, it was really chatty thread. I wonder if Sue will look in again, it was nice hearing from her.

Well girls I must do the ironing now so that I can get on with the card making....mustn't make the cards first or the ironing won't get done.lol!!
I might look in again later on. Take care everyone.

Mo I do pray that Roly will get some relief from the pain that in itself drags you down so lots of hugs for you both (((((((((((((( x )))))))))))))))
Sallie glad to hear you are doing the cards, they can be a lifesaver, my bolt hole I call it.... but I must do some culling of all the stuff I have accumulated, I could open as a craft shop....lol....so I am being very good and not buying anymore , well not for a day or two...lol...
much love to our friends across the water. I still read what you are all up to. and you all seem to live very full lives...good on you ....
a few weeks ago I read this thread right from the first day and it was lovely going back over the years , like when Sallie joined us and what Debbie and her family used to be involved , bet the boys are really grown up now... sad that we dont hear from others that were always adding, so you see Mo, it is worth keeping going with it all..you never know maybe one or two and even some newcomers may just pop on to say hello...so onwards and upwards. take care all of you and dont get the winter blues or in some cases the winter blacks...... I hate
winter......never mind soon be Christmas, and on that happy note I will say by for now keep smiling share a few every day

A quick hallo from me. We have been at our daughters from Friday until today, we got home this evening. I took my laptop but their broadband was down all weekend so that was not a lot of good. Lovely to see them and saw one of our Grandsons on Friday evening and one today with his fiancee so that was nice.

Hi Mo,

I'll have to delete two of the messages, I don't know what GR are doing these days.

Oh Mo it would be a shame to delete your thread, I'm sure that we are all not fed up of it. I've just been busy making cards so haven't had a lot of time to get on here.
I know Joyce is fed up with all of GR and is thinking about not renewing her membership next time.

The antidepressants I'm on are called Seroxat, but apparently there is a high suicide rate with them. I first took them about ten years ago for two years and felt great. So about two and a half years ago the doctor put me back on them and was okay with them until six months ago and then started to feel more depressed and at times suicidal as well. The doctor told me that I had to come off them but it would take a long time before I'm off them completely.
I'm just wondering now, what he'll decide to do about them when I see him on Tuesday.

Richard was on Citaloprham for a good few years and doesn't take anything at all now, although he does have a couple of down days now and again.

Jennie seems to be getting along okay.As long as she doesn't eat anything with too much fat in she's fine. Just hope it will stay like that.

Alun is still plodding along as usual.lol!!

I hope Roly will soon feel a lot better, please give him my best wishes.

Let's hope that your son and his girlfriend can start to talk things over, as you say Mo it's Lilly that you are concerned about. They should also start to think about her too and sort out their differences.

Well I'm going to have a shower now so will speak to you soon.

Take care,

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 6 Nov 2011 19:48

Oooops Sallie, the site has posted your message three times.
I do wish they would sort things out properly for once and all.

Roly is taking the tablets, but he is still getting the pain on and off, bless him.
He was fine till about 3.30 this afternoon, and wham it hit him out of the blue.
We had a lovely meal on Friday night. It was just a pity that our son and his other half had had words.
They are supposed to be getting married next year, but the way things are going, they wont be together.
They do seem to love each other but they bite each others heads off, for what appears to be no reason at all.
Ah well thats life I suppose. It's our baby Lilly that I feel for, the two of them should talk their differences, silence is not going to solve anything.
What anti-depressants has the doctor had you on Sallie?. I have been on Citalophram 20 mg for years now, and it's far to late for me to be weaned away from them now, or so my doctor tells me. He should have kept a better check on what I was taking, rather than keep on giving them to me. After all, I am just the patient and didnt know know what an effect they could have on me, and he did.
How are Alun and the family doing now love.
My lot are fine. My grandson asked me yesterday, if he would be getting a big bag of presents again this year at christmas. It really choked me up to have to tell him we couldn't afford as much now, with us both being retired.
Bless him he is only 11, but he said never mind Nan, I will love whatever I get. Kids, they get you every time dont they.

It's lovely to hear from you Sallie, as I thought that everyone had got fed up of posting on here, and was going to leave it a few days and then delete the thread.

Well love, it's that time again, yes tea time. lol Speak to you soon. Love Mo xxx

Sallie Report 6 Nov 2011 19:24

Hi Everyone.

What is GR doing? I'm not sure if it's just me or if it's this site. It's very slow again and when I am trying to write a PM the page just doesn't seem to keep still.

Mo, just wodering how things are with Roly. I hope that he has had the antibiotics off the doctor and that they are starting to work for him. Let's hope that he has a kidney infection and not stones.

Hope you enjoyed your meal out with your son and future daughter-in-law on Friday evening.

Marie, if only dingo bait would get rid of depression you could make a fortune.lol!! Thank you for asking, at the moment I feel okay.....I'm slowly coming off the antidepressants I'm on as the doctor has told me that they are now having the reverse effect on me and are making me more depressed because my body has got so use to them.

I only take one every four days now and for the first and second day I really am very down, so I dread taking them. I see the doctor on Tuesday so will see what he has to say about what I have to do next.

I am now able to get on with my card making, which is good as I have quite a lot to do between birthdays and Christmas. I've done a good few cards this last week so I'm very pleased.

It's very quiet on here, so maybe I'm not the only one having problems with GR.
I had 30 credits that some others have had from GR, but I won't use them.....shame I can't pass them onto someone that can.

Hope all or other friends on here are okay.

Going to have a nice cup of tea now so will speak to you all soon.

Love and best wishes, Sallie.xxx

Hello everyone.
Huia you are such a little gad about just lately. It's so nice that you are now filling your days with things that you are enjoying doing.
I do hope that Phil is not going down with scabies again, with his scratching his arm like that.
Thats the last thing that either of you need to go through again, it was bad enough last time wasn't it love.
I hope the "Meet the Candidated meeeting" went well, and that the people come out to back you and your party all the way.

Our Doctors surgery phoned last night, with the results of Roly's urine test.
He has got a kidney infection, and they have put him on a strong course of anti-biotics.
I thought it was very good of them to ring us, and get a prescription put into the pharmacy, ready for collection first thing this morning.
Lets hope and pray it is only an infection, and not stones after all. Bless hime he has really been in pain with it.
And to top it all, he is now going down with the cold/flu that I came home fron Blackpool with.
Lots of tender loving care, and bowls of hot soup are keeping him going.

We are going out for a meal tonight, with our son, future daughter in law, and her grandparents tonight.
Fingers crossed they don't catch the virus thing we have had, to take back to Scotland with them.

I will say bye for now girls, speak to you tomorrow.
Love and best wishes to you all, Mo xxx

Huia Report 3 Nov 2011 18:41

I am having a busy time lately. Yesterday I paid a quick visit to Phil. He was awake and scratching his arm. I took his hand to stop him scratching and after a short time his hand started to move up my arm and scratch it. He obviously thought it was his arm. One of the women wants me to load some of our old photos onto their computer so I think I will put them onto a CD when I have time and take it through to them. They will see if Phil can see the pictures.

After visiting him I went back to Papakura to do a little shopping and to sit in a nice cool place to write a speech. I then drove to Pukekohe and went to the local paper office to get a couple of spare papers as there is an ad in asking people to vote for me! My campaign manager wants a copy.

I then went to the town hall for the meet-the-candidates meeting run by the local branch of the educational institute. It went ok but the teachers obviously need to be educated about the origins of money.

Today I will be going to Papakura again in the afternoon to pay the phone bill and pick up some prescriptions, and then at 5.30 to go to the local electorate office for a meeting for candidates, presumably to be told what we can and cant do.

I hope I dont have to go anywhere on Saturday. On Sunday afternoon I am going to the Papakura Theatre Club's soiree of Gilbert and Sullivan songs. I just hope I can restrain myself from singing with them.

Huia.

Oooh Marie, what on earth is Dingo Bait, dare I ask. It's sounds rather smelly to me, yuk. Not something like doggy doo do is it, lol ;-).
How are all the family doing now Marie. I hope they are now over all the health problems that they were having.
Is your grandson enjoying University?.

Please note girls, we have got a very young Huia on the thread, photo wise I mean.
You were such a lovely baby Huia,( you haven't changed a bit, still as lovely as ever.)
And may I ask how our Phil is doing these days. Do you manage to get to see him as often as you would like.
Have you heard from Liz lately, only I have not seen her posting very often, and am wondering if she is keeping well.
Please send her my regards next time you speak to her.

Ann, it had been nice earlier today, but now the sky is as black as black can be.
It looks like that cloud burst you had earlier, is heading our way.
I was in our garden earlier, doing a bit of pruning, in readiness for the winter.
The garden refuse is due for collection on Monday, and I just want to get the worst done before it gets any colder.
Do your council allow you to put food waste in with your garden waste. Ours does,so I like to make sure it gets collected once a fornight,or it may start to smell. Mind you, we dont have a lot of left over food to go into the bin, little piggies that we are, we like our food to much to waste it.

I hope that all our friends who have been under the weather just lately start to pick up soon.
Oh and still no scan appointment for Roly. I am beggining to think it's his Irritable Bowel thats playing him up, but then I am not a doctor so what do I know. lol

I will speak to you all tomorrow, as I am at darts tonight.
Take care my lovelies. Love and best wishes to all. Mo xxx
