Hello girls, Oooh it's so lovely to catch up with all your news.
Sallie, I gather a Grand Calibre is something you use for your card making. It does sound very grand I must say. What does it do love. ? And I take it that Spellbinders are used for the same card making, and not for the use of novice witches. It' so sad that your brother in law is deteriorating so quickly. And as Huia can no doubt agree, such hard work for the spouse caring for them. Are you both staying at home for christmas?
Sylvia, isn't it lovely when the little ones start to chat to you. You will both notice such a big difference when you see him. Not only that he has grown, but no longer a baby just a miniature adult in the making. I dare say you are both looking forwards to seeing the family again, even though a certain person may make it difficult for you with his actions. How did your OH get on at his follow up appointment for his eye.? I bet he felt like kicking the OPK's in the shins on his flight home. But it's pleasing to hear it went well for him other than that.
Well, since I last spoke to you, things have progressed in our house. Roly has changed his mind about having the family here christmas day evening. All will be welcome with open arms, and if they should decide not to come, then that is down to them. We will have dinner at home alone, rather than it all being left up to me. I have bought, and wrapped as many presents as I intend to buy this year. All the cards to be sent to OZ and NZ are written, and I must get them sent off tomorrow. Does anyone know the last posting dates please. I know Ann will know, as she told me last year. Thank goodness we have got Ann, she is our font off knowledge where things like this are concerned. Bless you Ann, I would be lost without you.
Now where has our leader got to. Jeannnnnn where are you my love.
Huia, did you send me the picks of your head shaving experience? I do hope the weather has been kind to your cold pate mate. And that the sun doesn't burn your bonce to a crisp should it get to hot. LOL ;-)
Sending my love to Marie .xxx
Time to go now, chicken and chips for dinner tonight, any takers. Love and hugs to all. Mo xxx

Hi girls,
Huia, yes thank you I got the photos you emailed to me, they were great. I certainly admire you for having it done....it takes courage.
I wonder if Phil will realise that you have had your shaved off, bless him.
Spoke to my sister-in-law last night, she told us that her hubby has deteriorated a lot over the last two months, he was 67 last month. Not looking forward to seeing him when we go there next week.
Sylvia, oh you must have felt so proud when your grandson spoke to you. I'm sure you and OH are looking forward to spending Christmas with him and his mum and dad.
Glad to know that OH had a good trip to China and that he's arrived home safely.
Hello to everyone else, hope you are all OK.
Love, Sallie.xxx

hi Mo xx
and everyone xxx
Had a lovely chat on the phone with my daughter ............ first thing she said was "your grandson wants to talk to you"!
He's gradually getting better at talking clearly. He said very clearly "Hi Grandma", and then went off onto some tale, which I wasn't sure about!
But after I'd said goodbye to him (which actually is "give Mummy a big kiss"), I heard him running away shouting "Daddy I talked to Grandma" ............ very clearly!
OH walked in the house while I was still on the phone to daughter ........ so she had a little chat to him.
He had a good trip back ..... apart from a little so-and-so sitting in the window seat (OH prefers the aisle seat), who kicked OH twice as he went past into the aisle. OH kicked him back on the second one :-D :-D
Kid did not repeat the action!
We used to call such children OPKs ...... for Other People's Kids
He has to be up early tomorrow morning (Monday) ...... he has to go to the eye surgeon for a check-up on the eye that had the cataract removed.
Then we're going to do some grocery shopping and possibly try to get the last presents bought ............ ours!!
It's now only 3 weeks before we leave on the train for our daughter's for Christmas. So the pressure is on to get the Christmas letter written, copied, and posted!
OH phoned his sister ....... she is going to talk to a doctor at the Cancer Centre in the hospital in her home town on Thursday. They will discuss treatment(s) etc ............ and the hope is that she will be able to have it all done there, and not have to come down here.
take care
s xxx

Hi everyone, not been on GR for about a week, I've had a few days where things have been a struggle, but feel better again now, thank goodness. I've also been trying to get Christmas presents and cards organised.....still got a few pressies left to buy, difficult to know what to buy for some friends and family members. Most of the younger ones I am giving to, with just a small gift to go with it. Still got quite a few special Christmas cards and also a few birthday cards to make.
I've also had an early Christmas present off Alun, I had been talking about having a Grand Calibre for ages but never got round to getting one....which is pretty normal for me.lolol!!....so Alun had had enough of listening and decided to get me one for Christmas. It's great and I'm really pleased with it. Now have to start buying more of the Spellbinders grand dies, which are cheaper on some craft sites than others.
Mo, hope you are alright and that you will soon be able to get round to getting all the things you usually buy for Christmas.
Huia, well done! You are very brave lady to have your hair shaved, even for a good cause.
Marie, it looks as though you have been very busy in the garden. Like you in Oz we have also had a lot of rain here over our summer months. Great for the resevoirs, but too much for the gardens. Even here in SE Derbyshire, we have had a lot more rain this year than we normally do. Hope your SiL's chemo will do what it's supposed to do and that she will make a very good recovery.
Sylvia, also hope that all is going OK for your SiL too, and that she makes a complete recovery.
Hope all is going well in China for your OH.
Ann and Jean, you both seem to be very busy with your card making.
Hope that both you and your families are alright.
Well I must go and make a couple of cards now, so will speak to you all again soon
Take care.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Coooeee everyone, yes it's me, back to pester the life out of you. ;-) ;-) ;-) Sorry to have been absent for so long,it's taken me ages to read the posts, and now I cant even remember whats been said.LOL :-(
Well done to our Huia, isn't she a brave lady girls. And it's all for such a good cause. I hope you have raised loadsa money Huia my love.
Heres hoping you are all well, and getting yourselves in the mood for the festive season. We are all behind this year, with present buying. But then a lot of our grandchildren are getting past the stage of excitement of christmas morning now. They prefer to lie in bed, after a good night out on christmas eve with their friends. Fortunately there are now only 8 left to buy presents for now, as the older ones are out working. I haven't even bought any sweets or chocolates yet, and that is unusual for me.
Well girls, I must go and do some dinner now, as I am starving. Take care everyone, love and hugs Mo xxx

Ann, I got mine of a American site, cheaper than in the u.k but it took three weeks to come, there are some on e-bay its a Spellbinders die, cherry lynn does one to but its a larger trellis and its quite dear, you can also buy off e-bay, ready cut ones so you wont need a die...I have just cut some more to send to Dutch, and I have just done card in pink with black lattice on very pleasing but havent taken a pic yet will do it tomorrow.... glad she liked the card......

What lovely songs Joyce, thank you. The words to it's time to say goodbye are:
When I'm alone I dream of the horizon and words fail me. There is no light in a room where there is no sun and there is no sun if you're not here with me, with me. From every window unfurls my heart the heart that you have won. Into me you've poured the light, the light that you found by the side of the road.
Time to say goodbye. Places that I've never seen or experienced with you. Now I shall, I'll sail with you upon ships across the seas, seas that exist no more, it's time to say goodbye.
When you're far away I dream of the horizon and words fail me. And of course I know that you're with me, with me. You, my moon, you are with me. My sun, you're here with me with me, with me, with me.
Time to say goodbye. Places that I've never seen or experienced with you. Now I shall, I'll sail with you upon ships across the seas, seas that exist no more,
I'll revive them with you. I'll go with you upon ships across the seas, seas that exist no more, I'll revive them with you. I'll go with you.
You and me.

Marie, how lovely to see you on the thread.
I don't envy you the pond cleaning job, I could smell it from here yuk! :-D I hope you managed to retrieve all the fish.
Yes, the treatment for cancer is gruelling and sometimes you wonder if the treatment is worse than the disease. Worthwhile I am sure if it gives extra years to somebody but often it doesn't seem to. I hope your neighbour's cancer can be treated and maybe cured again, or at least I hope the treatment will put her into remission. Is it skin cancer?
I hope that you enjoy your bus trip, it sounds nice and please have a couple of glasses for us!! Cheers :-D

Hello to everyone, I have just dived in for a very short visit .
We have been having good weather a little bit windy but nice to be in the garden.
I have been working in the garden constantly for the past few weeks, such a lot needs doing, I have been pruning also removing some plants that are trying to take over. I am also repairing the damage that the constant rain we had earlier did to my vegetable garden,I dug it up and let it lay for a couple of weeks ,then to-day I covered it with Dolomite & Lime then covered it with cow manure, if I get time to-morrow I will dig it in. I have a few Lettuce in also 2 Tomato plants. My Bottle brush is flowering they are lovely, my Azalers are almost finished they were beautiful this year. Kathleen Brian and I spent all weekend cleaning out our ponds , we have a large one and a small one, The big pond took a long time to drain then we had to try and scoop out all the sludge in the bottom what a yukky job ,we all needed showers when that was finished, we managed to get the large pond finished by Sunday evening late, on Monday we did the small pond. You should have seen us trying to catch the fish there was mud and fish flying everywhere. what a big Job we shouldn't have to do it again for a few years thank goodness. I swear I could smell the mud and slush under my nails for hours even though I had scrubbed them and then cut the nails
Hi Sylvia it was nice to see your post.I hope the results are what your S-i-l is hoping for.Our Friend and neighbor has been clear for 5 years but recently she came out in a rash and it is cancer ,so she is back on the drugs it is so sad it does not look good, we are trying to do all we can to support her.
My sis- in -law is having chemo and will be for some time she is also on the drug Herceptin given through the Portacath in her chest ,then some time next year she will have Radium. What the patients with Cancer go through is so painful, they need all the Love, help and support from friends family and the medical profession that we can give.
Huia I love your Hospice Angel outfit good work I hope you have managed to get lots of donations. Hi Sallie I hope every thing is well with you. thank you to yourself and Shelia for being at the funeral to farewell Our Caz. How lovely to have John Denver's song " Annie" at the funeral. I am also a fan of his I have taught my singing class to do " Perhaps Love " in 2 parts. and it sounds so Lovely
Hi Mo,I hope you won at darts.old girl ;-)LOL. I am going to the Hunter Valley next week for 3 days on a bus tour with friends . The Hunter Valley is a prime wine making and grape growing area, it also has a most beautiful garden it is very large it will be the first time I have visited it. We will of course sample some of the famous Hunter Valley Wines slurp! slurp!
Good night All My Lovely Ladies <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Sallie, many thanks to you and Shiela for making such a long journey, you both did us proud, and I for one am very grateful, its good to see that we had someone at the funeral......
At our home we are all stricken with heavy colds or in my case a bad chest, I cant remember the last time I had a cold, so no more trips out for me.... at least I can continue with the crafting,
Mo pm sent.
