Thanks for that Mo, I know Joyce and Liz are on the same day, but Joyce is older. Liz and I are the same age, I'm just two weeks older than LIz. Sylvia and Ann are the same age, but not sure when Sylvia's birthday is. I usually send bithday wishes to Sylvia, Huia and Marie on GR.
How is Zoey getting on? Hope that the physio is beginning to show signs of improvement for her. Bless her.

had a couple of bad days this week so not been on GR....anyway much better now and have made a few cards over the last day or two.
Jean, we have had a couple of inches of snow today, so didn't go and do the weekly shop, when Alun got home from work he said that the roads were not very good, very slippery, of course none of the council gritters had been out. So we are going to do it tomorrow after lunch as we have to go to Derby early in the morning.
Hope that you are feeling better now and that the weather will be okay for you to go The Range tomorrow.
Ann, yes it's great having a craft room, I really love it, as you say I don't have to put everything away if I need to use it again.
These boys have to have their toys to play with..... T has his helicpters and Alun has his trains.lol!!! Alun went to a model railway show in Doncaster on Sunday and came home with a few kits to make buildings, signals, and a new engine, so he was a 'happy little boy'.
Mo and Jeni, it is so long since I did any crocheting, I think I will have probably forgotten how to do it now.lol!!
Sylvia, sorry to hear the bad news about your friend, hope your trip to see him goes well.
Please could you all let me have the dates of your birthdays again, I had them all on my computer but they seem to have disappeared...goodness knows how.
Well ladies, I'm going to have a nice cup of tea now and then make one or two cards.
Speak to you all soon.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Cooee everyone, Just a quickie to let you know I am still around. No snow here, but bitterly cold.
Jeni, we have probably been eating horse meat for years and not even realised it lol I know the thought of it is off putting, especially with you having got Red and Megan. Not a nice thought is it.
I am glad I am not the only one to be puzzled by crocheting. I can do a straight row, but it's the turning that gets me. The work seems to either grow width wise, or shrink drastically. :-D :-D :-D
I agree with you Ann, about the horses having been injected, with things that our bodies cannot tolerate to eat. Hows T doing these days? Has he been out on that golf course lately?
Jean, many many thanks for the lovely card. When Roly looked at the postmark, he said who do we know who lives in the Manchester area. Silly boy isn't he.
Must go and feed the hungry husband now. I want me Valentines card tomorrow, so I had better play the good wife, (I always do anyway) Love to you all. Mo xxx

Hello everyone, hope you are all ok and managing to keep warm, no snow here today but very cold and damp. Ann I hate having fasting blood tests, am always glad to get home and have a cuppa and toast. Haven't made a start on learning to crochet yet, keep looking at the book but so far that is all. The horse meat problem seems to be getting worse, just seen on the news that 2 slaughter houses have been visited by police, 1 in West Yorkshire and 1 in West Wales.. Think I may go vegetatianm though I dont eat red meat and very little poultry. Going to make a cuppa now and watch Emmerdale. Take care and stay safe. Jean xx :-) :-) :-)

Good morning all, up at silly o'clock this morning for a fasting blood test. Nice to get home in the warm and have a slice of toast, always tastes better after a 'fast'.
Sylvia, that is quite a gruelling trip for your daughter to make but lovely that she wants to do it for her Godfather.
No snow in this part of the uk although today is very damp and icy cold and there was actuakky a sprinkling on the windscreen of my car overnight, it was very soft though. We may get some snow later.
I saw your remark on the school lunch box thread re horse meat. Our problem here is not the fact that we may have eaten horse meat, bu that the horse meat may have been injected with a veterinary drug that in a very very small number of cases may cause APlastic Anaemia. It is beginning to transpire that this is not an accidental thing to have happened but a criminal thing. And in todays paper it is mentioned that the Mafia is supected at being the driving force. And, as usual it seems to be fraud rather than food safety and all about money.
Sallie, I bet you are enjoying having your own room to work in, it does help to have space where you can leave things out.

Hello Sylvia, Good to hear from you love. It has been ages since we last spoke to you, and as you have probably seen on the thread both Jean and myself have become great grandmothers, myself for the second time, and Jeans first. What a shame that you wont be seing very much of the family, when they come over to the Island. It's such sad news about your friend on the Island, being so ill. The dementia was bad enough for the family to have to cope with, and now this news makes things even worse for them. I saw on the news about the snow in America, I don't envy yourself or your daughter, having to cope with the amount that you normally have, let alone the amount that fell in the U.S. Lets be honest, we never get the amount of snow as we did, many years ago, (thank goodness) here in good old blighty. But we always moan, no matter however much we get, true Brits to the core, never satisfied. We have had sleet falling this evening, and the back doorstep was very slippery, so I have laid salt down just in case. I hope you are both well, and no longer in pain yourself. Take care Sylvia. Love Mo xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone xx
I'm not sure when I last posted, so not sure what I've already told you ..... forgive me if it's repetition!!
I've been immersed in the new Manchester Records on ancestry, so not been on GR that much.
I've solved some problems, but also found a few new ones ....... brick walls that I thought were down now back up
we have sun today ................. but it's been a very rare occurrence for weeks.
Apparently we have had only about half the normal sunshine since the beginning of December!!!
We found out last week that our friend on the Island, the one with a form of dementia, now has a cancer of the intestines, and it is not treatable.
We're going over to see them this coming week, so I will be away from Tuesday to Friday.
Daughter and family are coming to visit over the Easter weekend ...................... but not to see us.
They're doing the incredible trip (8 hours plane trip each way) so they can go to the Island to see our friend (her godfather) while he is still reasonably healthy.
They arrive about 10:30 pm on March 27, go to the Island early on the 28th. Return on the 31st, and then fly back home about 11:30 pm on April 1.
We'll get to see them for about a day and a half in total.
She phoned this morning, earlier than usual .........
........ they had 30 cm of snow and high winds (therefore drifting and blizzard-like conditions) over Friday night and Saturday morning ............... the tail end of that major storm that hit north-eastern USA.
They were snowed in yesterday morning, and forced to have a "home" day
Then they got another 10 cm overnight Saturday/Sunday ................. because of another storm that went east from Alberta through Ontario and into the Maritimes.
By this morning, her husband had cleared the driveway, the city had cleared all main streets and were starting on secondary roads, and were clearing the sidewalks with the little Bobcat thingy they use .................
................. so once grandson had woken from his nap, they were going to go out to get some necessary items.
Watch out in the UK ............. I hear this same weather is on its way over to you
take care everyone

Making that spare bedroom into your craft room is a brilliant idea, good on Jennie for making the suggestion. Alun wont get cleared away with all your spare bits that way. ;-) ;-) ;-) Sallie, Zoey is coming on in leaps and bounds now. She is such a conteted little thing, and is very beautiful. Our grandaughter is proving to be a very capable mum. I hope that everyone is fine. I will see you tomorrow girls, love to all. Mo xxx

Hello to all you lovely ladies. Sorry I haven't posted for quite a few days, I have been out a good bit of the week and also we have been sorting out drawers and cupboards. Dear me, I don't know why on earth we kept so much ' rubbish ' for so many years. All this started on Sunday when Jennie finally persuaded me to make her old bedroom into a craft room....I'm really pleased with it, but I still have to sort out a good bit of my stash.
Welcome to both Jeniwren and Dizzi , it's lovely to see you both posting on here. As Ann said this is one thread that doesn't turn, as we are all too scared of Mo ...she makes us all toe line.lol!!
Dizzi, hope that you are feeling a lot better now, it's great to know that you are now well enough to post again....missed seeing you on the boards. I know it takes months to get over pneumonia....I had it 23 years ago and it was almost four months before I felt really well again.
As the others have said, come and chat to us as often as you like, you will always be welcome.
Jeni, I haven't done any crocheting for years. I crocheted a lot when my niece was a baby, but never got around to crocheting anything for my son and daughter when they were babies. Although I did knit cardigans and jumpers for them both. Now I am adicted to card making, just like Jean and Ann.
Like Dizzi, come and chat to us as often as you like, as you too will always be welcome.
Jean, I'm sure you felt better for having a good nights sleep. As you say try not to take them every night so that you don't have to rely on them. My mother and her next door neighbour took sleeping tablets for many years, although they both tried a few times to stop taking them, but always said that they couldn't sleep without them.
Glad to hear that Charlie and his mum are both going along alright. I bet you have enjoyed giving him cuddles....I know I certainly would. New babies are so lovely, I just love to see their little fingers and toes.
Ann, glad that things went ok at the hospital this time. It's good that the consultant is keeping a close eye on things, as you can never be too sure. Hope you and T enjoyed your curry, well apart from all the noise coming from the qroup of lads.
Mo, how are things going with little Zoey's physiotherapy? Hope it's going along alright and that the doctor is checking on her progress.
Why on earth did the landlord or whoever was in charge of the pub on Monday night, allow so many card games to take place knowing that a darts match was taking place there later on in the evening. It's a shame that the team had to move from there to the opposing teams venue, all because a lot of noisy and inconsiderate people.
Glad that you enjoyed your honey glazed spare ribs and chips from M----sons. We had a roast chicken dinner today....Alun is in Doncaster on Sunday at a Model Railway Show, so we had our Sunday roast today instead,
Huia, just hope that you can get rid of the rats this time for good....although not sure that is possible with the kind of area you live in.
Hope that you enjoyed your trip into town and got what shopping you wanted. Also that things were no worse with Phil.
Marie, it's good that you are having some nice weather at the moment after all the very high temperatures you have had there. The weather forecast for this area and for other parts of Britain is for snow on Sunday.
Hope that you and your family are all okay.
Well ladies I am going to make a hot drink now so will say goodnight to you all.
Take care everyone.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Welcome to our little mad house Dizzi. I'm not really as bad as some people would paint me, ( Jean comes to mind, just coz I had a phase of painting the house inside and out at one time). Not any longer though I'm afraid to say coz me joints wont let me.
Please help me out Dizzi, I am surrounded by these cleaver clogs, who are brilliant at making cards, and theres me who keeps the card shop in business,as I'm a thicko and can't keep up with em. They come out with all these clever names for things that they use to make their cards, and theres me thinking that they have bought some exotic fruit or something like that, but noooo. I hope you are feeling better now honey, you have had it rough for a while, but onwards and upwards now.
Ann, we have no idea what they put in the mince these days. Years ago, we used to watch the butcher mincing the meat up, at the rear of the shop, but these days, we just see it placed on trays in the windows. Before Roly and I got married, he was going out with a Dutch girl. Her parents asked him to a dinner, that he thoroughly enjoyed, and was told afterwards that they had just eaten horse meat. He said it was lovely, but then we are talking of way back in the early 60's, when vets didn't inject so many different things into animals. Oooh just had a thought, perhaps thats why he's as daft as he is, perhaps it did affect him anyway, and it's just starting to show. Poor old devil he has a lot to put up with, being married to me. Now Jean....Ann no naughty remarks please. Wheres our Sallie, I need her support, she wont pick on me, not like a couple of people I know, not mentioning any names, but they both had a dig at me earlier. :-( :-( :-(
Jean, I am pleased you received the card. How is little man doing, and did you manage to get over to see him today. One of these days I am going to come to your house for some Rag Pudding. We had honey glazed spare ribs and chips for our dinner tonight, courtesy of Mo**isons, lazy old me, but I dont care.
It flamin well raining here at the moment, lets hope it keeps the snow away. Bye for now girls. Love Mo xxx

Helloooo Dizzy, how nice to see you on here. This is one thread that never turns (we are all to scared of Mo to let it :-D :-D :-D). Seriously Dizzy welcome, do come on and chat and be as daft as J.. the rest of us. :-)
Jean, what are you like? Making a card then losing it, that means you have too much stash, get rid of some. I am feeling virtuous as I have just sorted my card and paper scraps drawer and binned a lot that was gathering dust at the bottom of the drawer. Must have been there at least 5 years.
Mo, You should see your doc and ask for help to get off the sleeping tablets, or at least to change to some that are not habit forming. It can't be good for you to take them all the time. :-)

Mo, As long as I wasn't leaking out wine!!!! Don't want tow aste it. Apparently having the scrape is like having a graze, so i can imagine it will be sore afterwards.
We thought the staff should have stopped serving those lads, as should have happened in the darts teams' pub. If people are so inebriated they cause problems to other people they should be refused drink. IMO.
Thank goodness it is very rarely that we buy ready foods frozen or chilled. That is not to say we never have though. It looks as though the only way to know what is in your food is to buy fresh meat and cook it yourself. Even then you have to take it on faith that it doesn't have any nasties injected into it. We eat a fair amount of mince and I am beginning to wonder about the pre packaged mince now. Is it all it is supposed to be?

Hello my lovelies, It's so nice to come on here, and find that so many of you have posted. We have days when we are all just to busy to pop in, but it's nice to catch up with one another isn't it.
Jeni, I have never been able to crochet properly. But when pregnant with my youngest son, I picked up a crochet hook and made a beautiful cover for his pram. After he was born,I tried to make another simple blanket, and could not for the life of me,remember what I had to do, so I gave up and stuck to my knitting needles after that :-D :-D :-D Let us know how you get on with it, and also if Scarlett wants to help you with it, you could end up in a right pickle with you both wrapped up in the wool.
Ann, thank goodness you didn't have to have any treatment done at the hospital, and that things are looking rosy for you hun. Just remember when he does the"Scrape"the next time you see him, not to have to much to drink( tea, coffe etc) just in case the puncture marks go a bit deep, and you end up like a watering can spraying drink everywhere. ;-) ;-) ;-) It's so annoying to see youngsters so well oiled at that time of day, isn't it. They had obviously been supping since lunch time, to have got in that state. Did you both enjoy your curry anyway? Last monday night, one of the teams in our darts league, were due to play at home. When they arrived at 8.30, the bar was unusually crowded with card players, who were way over the top with drink ,noise and very bad language. The team had to leave the pub, and go and play at the oppositions venue, becasue of all that was occuring. This should not have been allowed to happen, but the landlord was not in attendance on that occasion, and things got out of hand, and the women were worried in case trouble flared up. The pub concerned, will lose the four darts teams that they have playing there, if things are not kept in check. Just goes to show, how stupid people can be under the influence of drink.
Jean my lickle love, please take care with the Diazapam Don't get like me, who has been on Zimovane for the last X amount of years, and cannot get to sleep without them. I cannot manage without my sleeping tablets, I thought my doctor would keep a better eye on me, and that I wouldn't need them after I got over the menopause, but, unfortunately this has not happened. And believe me, I have tried, but on going to bed, it's like a switch goes on in my head, and I am awake till about 5 a.m and then waken at 7 a.m and get up. I was like a zombie, with black bags under my eyes, and felt like death warmed up, hence the doctor starting me on the darned things, there are times when I wish I had never taken them. Thats why I am saying to you Jean, only take them occasionally love, to catch up on the sleep you are lacking.
I think most of the country have been warned that we could have snow by Sunday. Lets hope and pray that they have got it wrong. If anyone gets snowed in, I shall send out the team of huskies with emergency supplies for you, but Burgers and Lasagne will not be in the supplies. Honest you cant seem to eat anything these days without someone saying, that it could harm you. But I can understand the concerns in this case.
Bye for now girls. Love Mo xxx

Hello ladies,I have just caught up with a few posts and had read your add on the welsh thread Ann, glad to hear you got off lightly this visit, but its good that you are checked on a regular basis, cant be to careful.....I have been busy doing more cards and also making inserts which i will add some words too when I use them...Jenni, we are going to see Charlie sometime tomorrow, D is going almost every day , well she is the number one grandparent ;-) ;-) his other gran has been away , due home tomorrow, and they live a couple of doors away from him, so will no doubt see him a bit more than us.... :-( I never could manage crocheting, sewing and knitting only dolls I hasten to add, couldnt cope with sweaters or such like, although the dolls were some of the 15 ins ones.....
I went to the docs about the legs, and got the impression not a lot can be done , so he gave me some Diazapam, didnt want to start on them, but I cant cope with the cramp pains , and having to get up earlier than usual meant I was getting very tired. so I gave them a go last night and slept all night :-D :-D so I shall have to see how I get on, I dont intend taking them every night though....I also need to walk more hard to do when its painful...
snow coming back in my part of the country so I heard on the weather forecast , now thats something I could do without.....
Now I shall have a slice of toast and a coffee.....so chat later ,
love to everyone Jean xx <3
