What a shame that your meal had the pleasure taken away by the cold. Surely the pub should be looking to solve the problem.or give a discount to compensate. We had a good lunch time meal in a beefeater last week but I have to say that place wasn't that warm either.

Hello my lovelies, It's good to have you back Ann, but please don't go away again to soon lol I know there is bound to be another break soon though ;-) ;-) ;-) It's nice to be able to visit different big stores, like you did today, but the temptation to buy is sooo great where I am concerned. I have been trying not to have to buy more trousers and jumpers, but the way the weather has been, I may need to. I was hoping to be able to start buying summer clothes soon, but the likelyhood of that is looking very small. Glad you had a nice time when you were away Ann. It's nice having a bit of solitude, when we are away, but as you say, being to remote also has it's pitfalls.
Sallie, I am sorry to read about your dear old friends demise. Now you must stay strong, and live for both of you, and enjoy life, because as we all know, life is to short as it is. I just wish my daughter would realise this. It's nice to hear that Richard is enjoying his work now. Not everyone is cut out for the sales side of business. Now my son, could sell snow to an eskimo, it's just how he is. He has the gift of the gab....I wonder who he takes after for that lol How is your brother by the way? Is Alun of to a meeting with his train friends this weekend. I know he loves this pastime, as much as Roly and I enjoy our darts and yourself card making. Everyone has commented on our lovely home made cards that we received for our anniversary. They wondered what shop they had come from, and when I told them they were hand made by my friends, they were shocked and surprised, as they had been looking for a special card, and couldn't find one in the card shops.
Hi Sylvia, were you in hiding yesterday love, or I bet you were out having another Japanese meal, you lucky thing.
Well girls, I will tell you about our meal last night. We went to the Beefeater, and I ordered, half a rack of ribs, chicken, jacket potato, and side salad. After waiting for ages, it turned up, and my meal was given straight back to the waitress, as it was stone cold. I did enjoy it once I had complained, and it came back piping hot. But, everyone was complaining about how cold it was in the place, and myself and several others, ate our meal with our coats on. Not exactly ideal, especially trying to eat a rack of ribs with my fingers. We were told that the heating was playing up, and as it's such an old building, with high vaulted ceilings, what heat there was there dissappeared into thin air. We have been to this place several times before, and had a most enjoyable meal, and been warm. But last night, poor Roly was shivering in the car on our way home. The cold came from inside our bodies to the outside, and we were so glad to get back home in the warm. Oh well, here's to our 50th next year.
****************************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************************** SPECIAL WISHES TO OUR JEAN AND JEFF, ON THEIR ANNIVERSARY TOMORROW. LOVE AND SPECIAL HUGS TO YOU BOTH.xxx ****************************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************************
Cheerio for now girls, love Mo xxx

Sallie I am sorry to hear about your friend, always sad to lose good friends and she was a part of your past. Another link gone.
Mo hope the meal was good.
We got home about 1pm, we stopped on the way at cribbs causeway to have coffee in M&S and to get something for tonight's meal. Also bought a blouse and T bought a shirt, that is a huge Marks and has things our smaller ones don't have. Would you believe it the sun is shining, the first time we have seen it for a week. Despite the cold we did have a nice week and got out and about in the area, the only downside being the horrific cost of car parking everywhere, even in places that used to have free parking off season. And, unfortunately we were a bit too far out to get the bus. Not only far out but where we satyed was on top of a very steep hill which would be fine going down but a killer going up!!!! still it was a good break and a lovely apartment. Now, I have almost unpacked and have done one load of washing. When we are away in the car I put all my dirty clothes into a carrier bag so that they can go straight into the washing machine as soon as we get in, that gets rid of one load, then T's get done the following day.
Off to finish unpacking and putting away now.
:-D

Mo, hope you and enjoy your meal out. Lovely to have the family popping in over the last two days of celebrations. Richard is now working on the credit side, he much prefers it to sales. Ideally he would like to get a job in another company doing credit control, but at the moment the all kind of job vacancies are few and far between, as we all know.
Ann, a bowl of lovely beef stew and vegetables, sounds just about right for a very cold day. It was a lovely day on Wednesday but yesterday and today we have had a very cold wind, so it looks as though we are back to winter. According to the TV weather lady, it is the first day of spring today, feels more like the first day of winter.lol!!
My brother rang me today to let me now that a family friend who I use to play with when we were children, died this morning, she was two years older than me.......so feeling a bit sad since hearing the news. She had suffered from Parkinson's Disease for a number of years and seemed to be going along alright, but eighteen months ago she was diagnosed with leukemia. She was in remission after treatment but it came came back just before Christmas. Gloria was a lovely lady, and although we didn't see each other very often we always kept in touch and never forgot each others birthdays or Christmas.
Sylvia, Jean, Marie, Huia and Jeni, hope you are all okay.
Will speak to you all tomorrow.
Take care everyone.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Sallie, no sun here, still thick cloud and very cold and we also had a shower lunch time, but we were in a pub eating a bowl of beef and veg stew followed by a shared sticky toffee pud and custard.

Sallie, our son is still working for the same company, and has risen to be under manager now. Not that it makes much difference, it's just a title really. Crumbs, I didn't realise that it was two over years ago that Richard lost his last job. My word how time flies by. Sorry got to go now family just turned up.

Mo, at the moment Jennie is fine thank you, just hope that she continues that way for a long while. Richard is still working in the same place, I think he's been there for two and a half years now, although he likes the job itself he's not entirely happy with the company he works for. He keeps looking for oher jobs but hasn't had any lock so far.......still has he said, at least he has a job, so that's something with so many stores closing down and people losing their jobs.
How are things going with your son? I hope the company he works for have no problems and that things are going along okay for them. Hope your DiL is feeling a bit better now that she has started anti-biotics......they take a couple of days to get into the system and start to work, don't they.
Hope that all is going along okay with Zoey's physio. Have the doctor given your granddaughter any idea how long it could take to get her toes right?
Just in case I'm late getting on here tomorrow, Happy Anniversary to both you and Roly, and enjoy your day together. Have you got anything special planned?
Ann, hope it isn't has cold in Devon today has it has been ....it's been a nice bright and sunny day here although still quite cold. Went to do the weekly shopping this afternoon and it was nice not to have rush to get into A--a out of the freezing cold.
Well I am going to make a nice cup of tea now, so will speak to you all later.
Take care.

Apologies for the stutter. The problem was that the router threw me out as I thought. Genes was not loading. Well that is what it seemed like but obviously it was still downloading. Sorted it now. Better get off it won't let 2 of us on at once.

Sylvia, I feel sure that the girls and myself know that you were not bringing nastiness on this thread, we know you better than that love, so don't fret please.
Jeni, I was tickled pink when I read of your problem with the crocheting, the same thing happened to me, so know how frustrating it is. How on earth I made the pram quilt for my youngest, when I was pregnant I do not know, as now I haven't got a clue how to do it now. I hope Scarlett start to feel better soon honey, theres nothing worse than little ones being unwell, and us as either parents or grandparents not being able to make them feel better.
Well done our Sallie, on your weight loss. How are the family doing now Sallie. Is your daughter still well? How's Richards job going now, and I am trying to remember how long he has been there, but cant for the life of me recall wether it was last year, or the year before. Gosh time flies by when we get to a certain age, not that you are there yet Sallie, so wont know what it's like. ;-)
Of to my bed now girls, so good night god bless. Love Mo xxx

Sylvia, no you were not bringing any nastiness on to this thread at all. I just post on here and Shaun's thread where as you know there is no nastiness at all. Yes it is nice to still have threads that are still pleasant and friendly.
Yes, you are right about being in a slump after being on a diet and losing weight, with it still being winter and wanting some warming and comforting food.
How are all your family getting on? I expect your grandson is coming along in leaps and bounds now.
Jeni, hope your granddaughter will get over measles very soon and will be back to her normal self. Hate to see little ones poorly. Also hope your cat will soon be a lot better.
Keep persevering with your crocheting, I'm sure you will get the hang of it soon and then there will be no stopping you making things.
Well goodnight to everyone.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone xx
Mo ........ sorry to hear about your d-i-l ................ hope the anti-biotics are working.
Sallie ............... I'm also in a bit of a slump re losing weight!! Maybe because it is still winter, wet and miserable ............. and comfort food, with potatoes, is more attractive ;-)
I do hope no-one thought I was bringing nastiness on to here by mentioning the aggressiveness and how nice it was to have threads that were still pleasant.
I did not intend that .................. it was a congratulatory message to Mo!!
I did say something similar on another pleasant thread that I go on, and was told "they didn't want nastiness brought on to their thread"!
take care everyone

Hello ladies, hope you are all ok and managing to stay warm. I feel like I'm living in a sick bay at the moment, have a grandaughter with measles and a very poorly cat My first attempts at crochet were a disaster, first time I ended up with 5 yards of crochet chain but couldn't turn to goback, second time, when I thought I had worked out turning and working back I ended up with a few chain stitches then a large lump, a bit like a knot, haha, really am thick, but will try again. Sorry to hear about your D-in-L Mo, bet you loved having Lilly didn't you? Going to make a cuppa now and watch the news before I go to bed. Hope there is good news for a change. Good night, God bless you all. Jean xx :-) :-) :-) <3

Mo, like you said, you would have thought that the doctor would have been able to tell the difference between a very bad sinus cold and ableed of the brain. I'm sure your DinL was terrified and your son must have worried himself sick all night. Anyway glad it wasn't what the doctor had fearded and that she is now at home with some strong anti-biotics to take. Hope she will soon feel a lot better.
Huia, hope that your manager will soon get the closing problem sorted. I can't understand these people that go into a shop about five to ten minutes before closing and think they have all the time in the world to browse. I am wondering, did he actually buy anything? Some I know just go into a shop to kill time while they are waiting for someone so have no intention of buying anything at all.
Sylvia, like you I have spent some time looking at the boards, and as you say, there are one or two threads where a few members are quite aggressive. Trouble is, they don't see themselves as being that way and blame the ones they are nasty to.
I'm happy just posting on this thread and Shaun's, it's nice to have some lovely friends on both the threads.
Marie, I have been on the WeightWatchers diet since last June, it's the old diet that I've been on not the one they use now. I had lost weight in the past on it so decided to use the same one.
Well done on your weight loss too. Isn't it nice to get into clothes comfortably that have been a very snug fit. I have lost about the same amount of weight as Sylvia and I have gone down two sizes. Just have to keep it going now, although over the last week or so it has been more difficult to do so.
Well, I'm going to have a cuppa now, so speak to you all soon.
Take care everyone.

Hello girls, !!!!!! I Just don't believe it, Ann has developed a stutter, bless her, it must be as others have suggested, the cold weather affecting her fingers, giving them a repetative action. lol :-) :-) :-)
Sylvia, I bet the difference in the weather, was very noticeable to the eye. And I bet Huia would have had a field day photographing it all. Thank goodness the physio is working, or it would be no Japanese food for you my love. I have to admit to never having tried it, but would like to. I have to say that I have never fancied raw fish though. I haven't seen the aggressive posts Sylvia, mind you, I do tend to stick to our thread I have to admit. Nastiness is not neccessary is it, life is to short for goodness sake.
Our daughter in law was rushed into hospital last night. Our son took her to the emergency doctor, as she, like us, has had the virus thats been going around, but her head aches were horrendous, causing her to be violently sick. The emergency doctor sent her straight to the hospital saying she thought she may have got a bleed on her brain. As you can imagine, they could not do the CT scan till this morning, and DIL had to spend the night worrying. The result of the scan was, that she is full of phlemb, and that was what was causing the headaches and sinus problems, so they sent her home with strong anti-biotics. Now why did the emergency doctor frighten the life out of her like that, she didn't sleep for fear that she was going to die, poor girl. When I saw my doctor with the same symptoms, he told me exactly what was wrong, and prescribed the correct meds to clear it. Surely these doctors should know the difference between a brain bleed, and a heavy sinus cold. They certainly did when Roly had his bleed. Thats it, moan over now. The one good thing about it was that we got to look after little Lilly.
Hi Jean and Sallie, I bet you are fed up of me moaning....but ya loves me anyway. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Bye for now, peace and love to you all. Mo xxx
