Hello Jean, No news at all from Sallie, I am wondering if she is snowed in ;-) ;-) ;-) Cor blimey, Roly and myself looked like Nanook of the North last night. When we left the house to go to darts, it was snowing lightly, but half way to the venue, it turned into a blizzard. The pub is out in the sticks, in very open country side, and the snow was being blown over from the fields. We parked the car, and walked into the venue, and by the time we got in the door we looked like snowmen coming in from the storm. We did look funny I can tell you. Today, the sun is shining, but the wind is bitter, and what snow is left, will no doubt freeze tonight. I am doing us a nice casseroled beef for dinner tonight, that should keep us warm shouldn't it. Time for a nice cuppa now, so cheerio for now girls. Stay safe, and warm everyone. And for our down under friends, keep out of the sun and use plenty of sun block. If it's wet or snowy in your part of the world, stay dry gilrs. Love to all, Mo xxx

Hello girls, Sylvia, we have had snow on and off all day, but thankfully it's not laid. The weather forecaster said it may gone down to minus 5 tonight, brrrr thank goodness I will be tucked up in my bed by that time.
I know how time flies with our little ones, our youngest grandaughter is now two, going on twenty two. The eldest one is now twenty six, now that does make me feel old.
Ann, how lovely that you received the bouquet, and card from your son. It makes us feel so wanted doesn't it. I have been spoilt by all the gifts I received, the house looks like a florists, and the garden is going to be grand when I get round to putting the plants from my sons in.
A friend of mine got a lovely bouquet from her son, bought via M**npig, and when she opened the card, it was addressed to a lady in Wales. The flowers had her name and address, but there is probably some poor woman in Wales with the correct flowers, sent from a chap who she doesn't know, the same as M did. M is hoping that her son will complain to the company, and get recompense from them, and that also the other family do the same.
Bye for now my friends, enjoy the rest of mothers day. Love to all, Mo xxx

Mo lovely to have the girls and granddaughter visit all together, understandable too a day early because theya re Mums too. Good too that your eldest daughter at least put a card through the door, maybe she is 'thawing' a bit then.
Having moaned about the post office and Mothers day in general yesterday, I have to add that today I received from our son a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a Mothers day card so feel better now.
Although still cross with the post office.
Sylvia, that is the question I asked last week when number 3 grandson reached 21. :-D

You know what they say Ann, "Manners maketh man", and cost us nothing. We always say good morning and smile at most people we meet, and in general we are treated likewise. Having been bought up in a family, who respected each other, I like to do the same to others even now. How sad that your daughters card didn't turn up today. I guess we all are suspicious when something like this happens, and wonder if the postal services are being entirely honest, especially at times like mothers day, birthdays and christmas, as sometimes people tend to enclose money or a cheque/postal order. Do you remember my telling you about the night I went to darts, and we found a lot of post just dumped in an alley way. One of our team reported it to the post office, but we never heard what happened about it.
It appears that my family decided that today would be my mothers day. Two of my daughters arrived with our grandaughters, bringing flowers, plants and smellies. Our eldest daughter put a card through the door whilst we were out, so I suppose thats an advancement. My youngest son is at work tomorrow, and no doubt my eldest boy will arrive when they have been out for lunch. But I do understand about the girls coming a day early, after all, they are mums themselves, and get treated by their own children. It's going to be manic in one of my daughters houses, as her three daughters are going to cook her dinner, thats after they take her breakfast in bed of course. lol Daughters a wee bit worried about having a burnt roast dinner, but hey, what does a little bit of cinders matter, they are meant to be good for you. ;-) ;-) ;-) (Well thats what I told the children when they were young, and I burnt the toast)
Have a wonderful day tomorrow everyone. Love and hugs Mo xxx

I think there was a thread on here a while ago about road manners and even some on here said they didn't thank other drivers for giving was. We both always do so do our children and Grandchildren. It is like any other walk of life, it takes no effort to be polite. But, as you say Mo is a reflection on how things are today. Twice this morning somebody held the door of a shop open for us. both times they were older people but I was still suprised. Years ago that would not have surprised me at all. :-)

Yes Ann, I agree with you. At one point today, there were cars parked on both sides of the road, and Roly got into a gap and allowed other vehicles to come through, but the responce was a big fat zero. I don't believe the highway code has changed, just the people using it.

Mo, do you find that what we learnt as the law of right of way, I.e. cars parked on our side of road not our right of way, is ignored these days. Has the Highway Code changed? I don't think so.

Hello girls, I do hope your back is feelimg a little better this evening Jean. Heres hoping that you do manage to find a new mattress for your bed sweetheart. At one time, many years ago, we put a new mattress on top of an older one, thinking the matress would come in handy when we had visitors, the only problem was, my feet would not touch the floor when I hung them over the edge of the bed. In fact, I really needed a parachute to end up on two feet every morning. Needless to say, it didn't last long before it ended up at the dump.
By reading everyones posts, it appears that we all suffer with bad backs in one way or another. I can remember a time when I had to crawl over to the wardrobe, and pull myself up by the door handles, and this went on for weeks. So I can appreciate how you all feel.
It would appear that this rain is covering most of the U.K. We had to pick Lilly up from nursery today, and to get there, we went down the country lanes. Good grief, the great big puddles at the sides of the roads were horrendous, and the worrying thing was, that drivers were not slowing down, just aqua-plaining through the puddles.
It must be driver ignorance day as well, judging by the amount of people who didn't thank us for allowing them through gaps, when it was our right of way. Just a thumbs up, would have been appreciated, but no. Roly was furious with them, thank goodness they couldn't hear what he was calling them under his breath.
I hope your mothers day card turns up tomorrow Ann. You just cant rely on our postal services anymore can you.
I hope that everyone has an enjoyable mothers day, just in case I don't manage to get on here tomorrow.
Take care everyone,( especially our Jean HUGS for you Jean) Love Mo xxx

Hi Jean, I did 'speak to you a bit further down the page but you ignored me *sob.
Glad your back is a bit better. did I not reply to the last lot of photos you sent? I thought I did.
L said she sent you a card re the pieces you sent her and she owes you a reply. I hope it is ok I have given her your e mail address, with working from home it is easier for her to e mail than post a letter. However she is away for the weekend so not sure when she'll send it.
A bit worrying as daughter has sent Mother's day cards to me and her OH's mum and neither have arrived, although they went in the same post as Jean's card from her.
Just been to tesco to get dinner for Sunday, not a very nice day here, raining quite hard now, thick misty rain, so not going out anywhere else.

Sylvia, sounds funny reading it but I bet it is too painful for you to laugh.
Sallie, not ever so sad, a bit sad but there are funny moments because it reflects life and death and grieving, anger and acceptance. Excellent acting.

Hi Mo, and everyone xxx
Oh Jean! I do hope you soon feel better! xxxxx
I have back ache most of the time because my spine is deteriorating due to osteoarthritis, but I can usually keep it at a low level with pain killers. I do occasionally get a real bad one though, where I cannot even move.
If I'm up and about I have to go and lie down, flat on my back.
Getting up is then quite the performance ................ fortunately, our bed is quite low, and doe not have a foot board.
I have to flop myself over onto my front, keeping my back as straight and stiff as possible. Then I have to hitch myself round so that I am lying across the bed.
Now somehow move backwards ........... still on my tummy, until my knees are at the edge of the bed. A little further, and my knees drop down and touch the floor.
Now, I push my torso upright until I am kneeling, Then I move sideways to the bottom of the bed. I move round the corner. When one leg is still parallel to the side of the bed, I raise that knee ........ and somehow eventually power myself up into a standing position.
No-one has actually laughed at me .................... but I wouldn't be surprised if they did!
I do have some slightly stronger pain killers .................. but heat usually does better to get that bad one to manageable, movable state.
Do take care xxxxx

Jean, hope your back is feeling a bit easier today and that you have recovered from your fall out of bed. My uncle suffered with pain in his back off and on for many years, there were times when he didn't know where or how to sit or lie, to try and get comfortable. Bless him, I don't know how he managed to go to work sometimes, he worked in the Steelworks over the years he suffered with his back.....maybe it was one of the jobs he did there that caused it, although he didn't seem to think so at the time.
Jeni, how is your crocheting going? Hope you are starting to master it now.....my mum taught me how to crochet when I was a teenager and over the years I made quite a few things, but haven't done any for years now.
Mo, and how are you going along with your crocheting going too? Like Jeni, I also hope that you are now starting to work out how it's done. Good luck to you both.
Sylvia, hope all is going along alright for you and your family.
Ann, glad that you enjoyed your lunch out and the film afterwards, even though the film was very sad.
Hello to Huia and Marie, hope that you are both okay.
I'll speak to you soon.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Oh goodness Jean. Maybe you should find an old quilt/duvet and lay it by the bed so at least you'd have a soft landing. Can you not kneel on something soft to help you up. It must be worrying for you. Do you have a heat pad for your back? Do you know what has caused the back ache and have you been to the doc with it (I can't remember)? Back ache is horrible, I had a bad session of it a few years back, just get it occasionally now.
I am surprised that the dentist referred you without telling you.
We have just been to Cheltenham, had a Chinese buffet lunch then went to the cinema to see Terence Stamp and Vanessa Redgrave in A Song for Marion. Quite a sad film, very well acted and directed and, although sad uplifting as well. Worth seeing.
