Hi MO, and everyone

it is HOT here ..................... already up to around 27C in the back garden!!

I had 2 phone calls yesterday evening .................

Niece phoned ................. appendix removed at about 5 am Thursday morning. Back on the ward by 7 am.

Released from hospital Friday morning, and given permission to go back home .......... as long as her husband stopped the car frequently to allow A to get out and walk around. They left early this morning (Saturday), and will be stopping at a hotel overnight.

Keyhole surgery, with no stitches, just steri-strips.

The funny one was that surgeon ended by saying something along the lines of "You don't have colon cancer in your family, but I would like you to go to your GP and ask to be tested, as there is some suggestion that appendicitis may be inked with polyps".

A goes, "errrrrrrrrrrrr ......... I do have a family history of colon cancer". Gives him the history

"In that case, I definitely want you to go and get tested"!!!!!!

Hers was the 6th urgent appendectomy on Wednesday/Thursday ............... plus, her surgery was delayed. They were about to wheel her into the operating room at 1 am, when the anaesthetists on duty were both called away ........ 2 emergency cesareans!

second phone call .................

I think I have mentioned that we have been preparing to put our cabin on the market??

A friend down here who is a realtor put us in contact with one up there ........ and that one said he would go and look at the place and give us an "honest assessment"

He phoned last night .................. and I nearly fell off my chair.

His estimate is that we should get about double the price that we have thinking possible :-D :-D :-D

he admits it will need a very special person who falls in love with the 20 acres, etc ............ so we may have to wait.

But still ........................ :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

The sign is already up, even though we have not yet signed a contract with him ............. he said that 4 cars drove past the farm gate while he was there, and this is a Long Weekend, so he thought it good to get the information out there ........... while hoping we would not object

Now waiting for him to email us the contract, so we can read and sign.

Meanwhile, OH was out for the evening, and had met someone we know who lives up in that area ............. and said the realtor we had been referred was "Excellent"!!! Nice to know.

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

here's hoping we don't have wait too long for that special person!

Mo, I had been working Mon and Wed afternoons in the shop, but it is now back to Mon. although I did tell the boss I was prepared to do the occasional relieving shift for other people, preferably afternoons, but morning if I am given enough warning. No point them phoning me at 8 a.m. and expecting me to be there by 9.30 if I have only just woken up.

This afternoon I am going over to the valley as they are officially opening a new learner's mountain bike area, and having a sausage sizzle (not why I am going) and the rangers will drive people up behind a locked gate to a camp site where we might see some Kokako (blue wattled crow, a 'relative' of the Huia). I am hoping I might get some photos of them.

I have the camera club tomorrow night in Pukekohe, and am busy getting my photos ready to take and will put them on FB some time. On Tues night I might go to the Papakura Gen club's 35th birthday party.

Love you and leave you.

Huia.

Thank goodness we have heard from our lost friends, it gets to a point when worry sets in after a certain period of not hearing.
It shows we care about each other doesn't it girls.

Sylvia, thanks for the explanation re the widowers visit to you, I had funny ideas when I read your missive, the imagination went into overdrive where I was concerned. I was wondering if you were going to hold a seance lol
Does the widowers son speak Japanese, I should imagine he does, or it would make commuication between the son and wife rather difficult. There is only so much sign language that they could do I suppose. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Huia, you are such a busy bee. How many days do you actually work in the shop. I thought you were only doing the odd day here and there, but it sounds like you are almost full time there now.
Have you taken any new photo's lately? I haven't had a look on your FB page lately, so if they are there and I have missed them, please forgive me love.

Cooeee Sallie my love. I must have posted whilst you were still composing your post yesterday, sorry about that.
Oooer, Alun must have had a very deep cut if he needed five stitches. If I had seen the blood, I would have been passed out on the floor. I am a right wuss where blood is concerned.
And poor Alun will have withdrawal symptoms not being able to use his railway layout. I don't know, these boys and their toys. lol
Why don't you start to have driving lessons again Sallie, it gives that more freedom to do as you want.
I am still a little nervous when I drive, but am getting better day by day. Well thats when Roly allows me to get behind the wheel, but at least if I want to take myself off to buy clothes, and not have Roly watching every penny I spend, I can do so.
Lets be honest, it's good to get a day out with friends, or alone even occasionally.

I thought that I would cut the hedge between our house, and next door this afternoon.
It's not our hedge by the way.
So out I go, shears in hand, ready to cut it all by hand.....no electric hedge clippers for me, to scared in case I electrocute myself by cutting the cord.
I am almost finished when the woman from next door drives in.....ooooh I feel so guilty cutting her hedge.
Her first words were that her husband was going to trim it when he got home....to late thinks I, it's done now.
I swept everything up, cleared away, and came into the house. When I looked out the window, there she was, trimming the rest of the hedge herself with the electric shears....oh why didn't I wait.
But then, when they cut it, they dont do it properly, they just tickle it and it grows back after a very short time, when I do it, I give it a good hair cut, short back and sides is what it receives lol.

Well my lovely friends, I will say cheerio for now, love to you all. Mo xxx

Hello girls. I thought I had better let you know I am still in the land of the living. I have been busy all week, and will be going out soon, will be out for much of the day. Also going out tomorrow. At least the boss in our shop has found somebody else to do my Wed afternoons, so I will have another day to catch up on things at home - if I can get a round tuit.

Better dash.

Hi Mo .................

sorry

yes, it is the widower who is visiting!

lordy ................ I'd be running, if it was her!!!

He has been in Calgary for 3 weeks ............... typical British understatement, his comment on the horrendous flooding there last weekend was "Calgary is a bit wet" :-D :-D :-D

He's spending about a week with us, then going to OH's sister for 3 or 4 weeks. Then he is going on to Japan ................ their son married a Japanese girl, and he and his wife have both visited her parents over there and had them to stay in England. Not sure how much of each other's languages they speak, but they seem to all get on well! :-D

Oooh Sylvia, how nice to hear from you. It seems ages since we spoke last.
The toast for your friend sounds like it was a real success, and the two bald eagles soaring overhead was a good sign, showing how his spirit is now free, and soaring above the trees, free of any pain, and enjoying new found freedom.
I can't believe how many different varieties of Whisky were available, no wonder your OH wants to go back, and sample other types.
What a shame about your niece, having appendicitus (sp)and it spoiling the break with you.
I know I am going senile, but I have just read your last sentence again, and do you mean the partner of the person who passed away18 months ago, and not the person who passed away coming visiting you on Monday. :-S :-S
Take care hun, love Mo

Sallie Report 28 Jun 2013 20:29

Hi everyone, sorry I haven’t been on here for a few days, what with one thing and another I haven’t had much chance.

First of all I couldn’t get onto GR, not sure if the problem was GR’s or my laptop.lol!!Then the news of Sandie, I was so shocked that I just couldn’t get my head round posting for a few days....feeling better now but still keep thinking a lot about her.

Alun called in the tip on Wednesday on his way home from work to throw the old hand
wash basin and pedestal away...as he was throwing the pedestal part into the skip it slipped and sliced his wedding ring finger.... as you can imagine it bled quite a bit. I suggested that we do the weekly shopping the next morning but he insisted on taking us.

We had only been in A--a 10 minutes, when his finger started to bleed quite a bit again, so I rung Jennie and Michael so they could take Alun to the hospital. It ended up with Jennie going to the hospital with Alun and Michael staying with Janet and me while we finished the shopping and then he brought us home. Anyway, Alun had five stitches, and they told him not to get the bandage wet nor dirty and it will take 10-14 days to heal. So he can’t do any of his railway layout until then lolol!!!

Mo, pleased to hear that the specialist was able to sort out Roly’s eye problem for him and it didn’t take long either....amazing. It must be so annoying and miserable not being able to see clearly. It’s bad enough not being able to hear very well but it is better than not being able to see very well.
It is good that you can drive Mo, really wish I had carried on with driving lessons before the children were born. Three times I had driving lessons and even though I was told that I was doing okay with them, I gave them up. Trouble was I didn’t have enough confidence in myself as a driver to carry on with them.

Ann sorry to hear that when you got back to the airport car park you had the same problem with the car battery as you had last October. I quite agree it was a lot better with the old locking system of yesteryear....don’t suppose that it will come back in though, lolol!!
Did you manage to get some of your washing dry? We have had rain here most of the day, it’s been quite miserable.
Alun has been using the olive oil twice a day as you said and his hearing is a lot better. Thank you.
Glad that you both had a good holiday, great weather and a lovely villa to stay in.

Jean hope that your sale is going along okay. Have you managed to sell most of your stuff by now?
We went to the Range earlier this afternoon.....I only wanted one magazine but ended up buying some new decoupage that is just out, as well.

Sylvia, Huia, Marie hope that you are all alright.

We haven’t heard from Joyce for a long time, hope she’s alright too. I wonder if most of our friends that has added to this thread over the years are all okay. It would be nice to hear from them again.

Well girls I’m ready for a cuppa so will love and leave you now.

All of you take care.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone

Mo ........... glad the specialist could fit Roly in right away!

We had a good day last weekend at the Toast for our friend ................. whenever he was involved in organising an event (which was often), it seemed that the sun always shone for the period, no matter what it was doing before and after.

Guess what???

It was cloudy and rainy in the morning, and right up until we left the hotel to go for coffee before on to the Toast. Then it started brightening, and as we drove from the coffee shop to their house ................. the sun came out, and 2 bald eagles were floating on the air currents over the area where their house is! :-D

The Toast went well, about 75 people attended, and they could go out into the garden, etc.

R's wife had asked about 10 people, her close friends and "supporters" to stay for a dinner after the Toast ended at 6 pm. We all knew each other, and so had a good time.

It was a great farewell!

I watched the supermoon as we drove back to the hotel, at about 9 pm ............. it was HUGE!

The hotel advertised it had a Whisk(e)y Bar, with 125 varieties from around the world .............. so I asked OH if he would like to go and have a nightcap. He ordered a Scottish whisky (Laphroiag), then I saw that there was a WELSH single malt on the listing.

He now wants to go back, so he can try that one :-D :-D :-D

The bar was very quiet ............. only 1 other couple!! In fact, the hotel seemed to have only a few visitors staying.

This last Tuesday, we had visitors ............ our niece and her 2 little girls, 5 and 3, came fr a couple of hours in the morning. Her husband had to come down to the area for 2 weeks (work-related), so the family came with him. She was complaining of "tummy pain", but thought it was because they had been away from home for about 10 days, and so off her normal schedules.

On Wednesday, her husband had to take her to Emergency ................. and she had her appendix removed early Thursday!

Luckily, they had friends who live very close to their hotel (which is not in Vancouver!), and they took care of the 2 little girls, as well as their own 3-month old baby.

We have a visitor, OH's cousin-by-marriage (the cousin who died about 18 months ago) coming in on Monday ......... which is also July 1st, Canada's 146th birthday.

Take care everyone

Hello girls,
Good news, Roly saw the eye specialist yesterday. She told him that he did need the eye lazered, but there was a 6/7 month waiting list.
He said o.k as it needed doing, and that he was getting fed up of making mistakes with his crossword puzzles, misreading the clues.
She then asked him, if we could be at our local hospital at 1.30 p.m, and that she would fit him in immediately.
We arrived at the hospital at 1.20 p.m, and when I looked the specialist was behind Roly, so jokingly I said to him, " Look out she's behind you " the specialist laughed her head off.
He went in for the treatment at 1.30 and was back out five minutes later. He was amazed at how clear every thing looked.
I was under the impression that he was having the cattaract done again, but all she had to do was clear the film that had grown over the eye, so he walked out of the hospital a new man.

Good to see you back Ann, but I just can't believe yours and T's bad luck with that battery. This is the second time it has happened isn't it.
If anyone is going to get held up, it appears it seems to be your and T's turn every time love.
But it's good to know you had a good time whilst away.
As Jean said, you have been missed by us all.

Jean my lickle love, I hope the weather has been good enough for the painter to finish the job for you.
I can't believe that you still haven't had your appointment through about your dental problems.
I pray that things will be fine for you my love, when you see the dentist.
Did you manage to get a unit for all your crafting things, or are you going to continue with what you had?
I hope you J and D are fine now, please send my love to them.

It seems strange not hearing from Sallie, Sylvia, Marie,Huia, Joyce and our other friend, I do hope they are all well, I miss hearing their news dont you.?

Well my lovelies, I will love you and leave you, take good care of yourselves.

Hi all, have read back too much to comment on in my sleepy state though. Glad all went well for you and roly Mo, hope it continues to do so. Don't envy you the hospital dentistry though.
Jean who is buying your stock are you advertising it locally?

Can't believe we had the same b.... problems as we had last October, besides the fact we had an hour+ delay so didn't land at Birmingham until after midnight, the car wouldn't start because of a flat (6 month old) battery. So we didn't get home until gone 3am after getting the breakdown fellow out to start it. If the battery is flat nothing works so T had to get into the boot to stow luggage with a tiny emergency key. Bring back the non auto locking cars of yesteryear.

Don't know why the flight was delayed but as there were 7 mostly Monarch and mostly Birmingham and Leeds etc it was probably something to do with Portuguese air space - They had a general strike yesterday. Then when we landed we had to walk in, and queue to get in the door in drizzle. Lovely !

Anyway, the holiday was good the villa nice and in a good central position and the weather fantastic and I have just done one load of washing. Just hoping it doesn't rain, bright and sunny at the moment. :-)

Hello girls,
Jean my little divi friend, how can you call yourself that, when you are not one. You were like a little squirrel storing things for future use.
I can't believe you are beating me to the paint brush this year,(well even if it's not yourself yielding it)
We must get round to re-painting through the lounge and dining room sometime this year.
It's no good me asking Roly to do it, so it looks like I shall be doing the DIY myself yet again. lol

Sallie, it was a shock to read of Sandies demise, but you know she wouldn't like to think of you being really upset. Remember what a wonderful time you had together, and your chats on the phone. She is at rest now my love.
How many christmas cards have you made now? Will you be doing some for your brothers church this year.
Hows the family doing?

Today Roly had an appointment at the sleep apnea clinic, and guess what, after all this time they have said he doesn't have it. Hooray, something is going right for a change.
Thursday is the eye specialist, to see if they will remove the cataract they removed once before. The darn thing has grown back again.

Hasn't it been a lovely day today, it was a pleasure to see the sun shining for a change.

Thanks Ann, you must have sent a few of the suns rays over to us. lol

I hope everyone is well. Take care of yourselves, love and hugs Mo xxx

I just can't beieve it....keep thinking I am going to wake up from a bad dream. Mo, hope all is okay with you and Roly, as we haven't seen you for a few days.

Hello girls,
Well things at the hospital went well. I am having another scan done in August, to see if the problem has cleared, if not, and it has grown, then they will take things further. So fingers crossed that it vanishes.
I also had the xray on my teeth done at the same time (well not literally), and had to take the results disc back to my dentist.
Now it's a question of waiting for an appointment, and finding out what hospital I will need to attend.
Fortunately, the receptionist told me I will not have to pay and go private after all , phew...that was a relief, me old heart skipped a beat when they told me I might have to go private.
Thank you all, for your best wishes, they meant a lot to me.
Bye for now my friends, speak to you over the weekend. Love Mo xxx

Thank you girls, I will let you know how I get on tomorrow.

Bad enough that I had to go back to the dentists today, and pay another £18, for some anti-biotics for an infection in my gum.
I had a crown down years ago, and at that time, they made them with metal posts, well the infection is caused by the metal post, and it has to be removed, but my dentist doesn't do it, so I have to go to the hospital and have an xray done there, and get a referral(sp) to a hospital that does dental work, and have the gum split and the crown removed, and the roots treated again. Cor blimey what a to do, if it didn't leave such a gap, I would just have had it removed and not bothered to have the crown replaced, but there would be such a gap in my teeth, that I would look all gummy lol.

Got to go now, take care everyone, love to you all, Mo xxx
