Well girls, I am exhausted, what with the heat, and having little Lilly all day. She has got that awful cough back again, bless her, even when she dozed off to sleep, she coughed her heart up, but like me, did not wake up. I can cough for queen and country during my sleep, and wake the whole house up, apart from myself. lol I ended up running a tepid bath, and put her into it, to cool her down a bit. She loved it, and yes, she didn't want to get out. :-D :-D :-D, but nanny is the stronger of the two, and I got my way. I must be mad... I decided to walk her up to town, in her pushchair, but crumbs, I was truly cream crackered by the time I got home. Walking a long distance in this heat is not advisable, yes I know, I am a right narna.
Going to get myself some rest now, so bye for now girls. Love and hugs Mo xxx

Hi Girls, we had a few thunderstorms through the night and early this morning, but it is still hot and humid here. A house a couple of miles away from Jennie, was struck by lightening this morning...the owners were having their breakfast when it happened and didn’t realise that most of their roof was on fire until a neighbour knocked the door and told them. Also, a couple of other houses in the area got struck too. Mo, it looks as though the fire service here and in your area have had a busy time.
Glad to hear that you have managed to get some new clothes that fit you.lol!! I find that a size 14 is different depending on which shop I buy them from. Alun has always taken a 29 inch inside leg, but now find that even the trousers from M&S are too long for him. As you say, maybe our hubbies are shrinking.lol!!
Jean, yes I really must get my crafting stuff sorted out. I have thought about asking Jennie to do it for me, as she is very good at sorting and putting things in order.....she takes after Alun for that. Pleased to hear that you have been able to get some new furniture for your room, I’m sure that the room will look lovely when it’s finished. It’s good that D is good at putting the flat packs together....I know I wouldn’t be able to.
Ann, sounds as though you had a good day in Cheltenham and were able to get T some golfing shoes for his birthday. I have made 17 Christmas cards so far, they are only ordinary cards, some of them I have made out of the Christmas cards that we received last year. Some of them were so nice it was a shame not to use them.
Sylvia, hope all goes well with the sale of the cabin and that you sell it pretty quickly. Pleased that you were able to get a few jobs done at the cabin and that you and OH had a lovely weekend away.
Marie and Huia hope all is well with you both and your families.
Well, I’ll speak to you all tomorrow.
Take care everyone.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Oh my word, we had a horrendous storm last night, with sheet and fork lightening. A house not far from us was hit by the lightening, and went up in smoke, whew that was a close one. It absolutely poured it down with rain, and the plants in the garden were very happy bunnies this morning.
At long last I have managed to get myself a few new clothes, that I actually like, and that also fit me, and dont swamp me. We went to the M+S outlet centre, and I managed to get two lovely skirts, and tops to match. Yippee, it made such a change, not to see dresses that I would have had to take up by about six inches. It appears that the women nowadays must be giants compared to myself. I know I have shrunk with age, but for goodness sake, not to the point where I would have to do such drastic alterations. There were some lovely clothes in the outlet shop, at a greatly reduced prices. We tried to get Roly some new trousers, but if the waist size was correct, the leg length was wrong. Bless him, like me he has shrunk so much over the years. He never was a giant of a man, but his inside trouser length has shrunk down to 27 and a half inches, and the only place he can get them in the correct length, is from a gents mail order catalogue.
It's so overcast here, but still very very hot, perhaps we will have another storm tonight. So Jean, I will not venture out in my birthday suit tonight, just in case, but then I could have a nice shower couldn't I, all I would need is my shower gel and I would be made. Bye for now my friends. Take care, love Mo xxx

Hi all, we had a very short storm in the early hours this morning, hardly enough to wet the grass, and it has been humis all day today. We went to Cheltenham on the bus to buy golf shoes for Tony for his birthday and a shirt, then I got some reduced baby clothes in Mothercare, then we had lunch out - T's choice of venue, all you can eat chinese buffet. Still hot here now but sunny not cloudy.
Jean hope you are please with your furniture when it is finished. Did you get your hearing sorted at Specsavers?
I have been making a few more small ordinary Christmas cards but it is too hot really.
tomorrow I have the dentist, follow up appointment for the root canal filling, seems weird to be going when there seems to be nothing wrong as, since he did the preliminary filling I have had no problems at all.

Hello my lovelies, it's so nice to catch up with you. Sallie, I am sure I did post, but goodness knows where it vanished to, it's somewhere in cyber space. :-) :-) I can't believe that you and the girls have been making Christmas cards already. But then I dare say it's because it's been so hot, that I can't even think about christmas, my poor brain can't accept that it's only a few months away. Hows you been lately honey? I hope you are coping better now sweetheart.
Ann, do you notice a big difference when they re-tube your aid? I know Roly does, but unfortunately it doesn't last for long. The last time he had it done,a younger man did it for him, and the next day, he had problems hearing clearly. ( Well thats his excuse when he ignores what I say lol ) He is very lucky that he only has to walk into our health centre, and they will change his batteries for him. Fortunately it is just up the road from us. I have to laugh when he says my aid is singing to me, as thats when the batteries are running out.
Hi Sylvia, Isn't it nice knowing that your realtor, is a pleasant young man, and that you can feel safe that he is acting in your interest, and not just after making a quick buck. Do you feel happier now, knowing that the cabin is empty, and ready for viewing. It's nice to know that you had a pleasant time away love. And that you had a nice hotel room, air con included. We could do with air con here at the moment, it's just to darned hot. I hope things went well at the doctors for you Sylvia, and that the new meds suit you. You will have to put your new soap stone bear as your avatar, so that we will know what it looks like.
Well girl, I am going to go and sit in the garden for a while to cool down. Good night god bless, love Mo xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone
We had a lovely time up north. We didn't stay in the cabin, it is completely empty now except for 3 bed frames. Instead we did as we did last year .............. stayed in a hotel in town, with an air conditioned room :-D
We went out to the cabin (about an hour's drive from the town) on Friday............... it was the loveliest view from the gate ................. about half an acre or so of white!
All the Marguerites were in full flower, and standing about knee high above the grass.
OH managed to get work done that he could do on that one day, so we mooched around town on Saturday ........ we went to our favourite gallery, and I gave in and bought another soapstone carved bear. Had sworn I didn't need another one, but ..........
Remember the one I had as my avatar 18 months ago, with the pink stole slung around his shoulder??? Well, he's got a pal!! :-D
We managed to meet up with the realtor on Saturday afternoon, he was having a very busy weekend with clients! We liked him, face-to-face, and he seemed "our kind", if you understand what I mean.
The weather was lovely ................ we had a bit of rain on Thursday as we neared the end of our journey, but after that, it was hot and sunny!
Thank heavens for an air conditioned car. :-D :-D :-D
A good drive home yesterday, picking up some of the new season's fruit from a farm stand on the way ............ apricots, peaches, cherries, and 2 lemon cucumbers.
I have another trip to the doc's this afternoon to see if a week on the new drug has achieved anything.
You really can't blame the doctors for not knowing much about drugs ................ most GPs only get about 3 lectures (not even classes) in drugs while training. Then it's whatever information they get from the drug company representatives. It's all a bit scary when you think about it. Specialists will be better educated in drug interactions, of course.
But that is precisely why it is the pharmacists' responsibility to catch drug interactions ................ that is now enshrined in the law here in BC. Not sure what the situation is in the UK, or elsewhere in Canada.
Jean ................... thank you for what you posted on my thread last week xxxx <3 <3
take care everyone

Marie, here we are sweltering and there you were 3-5 degrees, that is chilly. We are forecast thunderstorms tomorrow which is a shame as we were hoping to go into town for lunch for T's birthday.
Sallie I actually made three Christmas cards yesterday, however I already have 50 left fro last year so that is a good start made on this years.
Mo, Wonder what happened to your thread, don't think I saw it at all.
Went to the hearing clinic today to get my aids checked out before Tenerife. Nice young girl changed the tubes and also gave me two spare tubes and two spare 'shoulders' because apparently the heat can affect them (it has been hotter here than Tenerife the past 2 weeks), and then she gave me 4 packs of batteries so that saves me a trip to the hospital to get batteries for a while.

Hi Girls,
Hope you are all okay. I haven't been on here for a few days, as I have been quite busy making first lot of Christmas cards and preparing for the visitors we've had over the weekend.
Mo, I felt sure that you had posted on here the other day too. but because I have only had a quick look at this thread and a couple of other other threads, I thought that perhaps I was mistaken.....I wonder what has happened to your post.
Marie lovely to see you post and pleased that you had a great time in Sydney with your daughter and granddaughter.
Jean, how are things with you and your family? Hope that you are all okay.
I looked at the email you sent me, I can't get over how much craft stuff you still have left.
I really must start to sort my craft stuff out, trouble is, I would much prefer to make cards instead.lol!!!!
Ann, Sylvia and Huia hope that you and your families are all alright.
I'll say goodnight now and hope to get back on here tomorrow.
Take care.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Hello to you all , Well it is still raining here and has been for days our temprature is supposed to only reach 5 degrees to-day , Saturday & Sunday only 3 degrees No news about the property going on the market, the continual rain has slowed the work down..I have a lot of gardening to do but this wet weather means I am way behind . I think I will do some sorting out in my book cupboard and music boxes, trouble is I don't feel like doing anything. I might go and have a cuppa and some hot toast with vegemite on it .
Sylvia it was the "Hyde Park Inn "we stayed at ,this whole area looks very new, and the shopping and food was lovely.I guess they pull the old down and rebuild all the time. I am off for this cuppa & toast Love & Huges <3 Marie :-D

I thought that these days with everything being computerised, that the pharmacist should also check that all medications are compatible. But maybe not.

Good grief Sylvia, your BP was as high as Roly's was, when he had his stroke. Isn't it amazing when folk are on a cocktail of medication, how many do not mix. When we told the specialist the other day, that our GP wanted to change one of Roly's tablets, he nearly fell of his chair in shock....he said no way should you be put on that when you are taking tablets for your postrate problems, and that was why he upped the dosage of one BP tablet instead. Now had we not waited to have words with him about the change of meds, before Roly started to take them, I dread to think what could have happened. For goodness sake, our doctor is just a general practicioner (sp) not a specialist, and I do sometimes wonder if what they prescribe is really looked into before hand, they just seem to hand tablets out willy nilly. Oh stupid me, I have just realised, you will be away at the cabin now, still never mind you can catch up when you get back. I hope that you get a buyer very soon.
I hope that everyone is well, and not melting in this heatwave. Take care, love to all. Mo xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone
I'm still around, but been busy with visitors etc.
The cabin is now on the market, ad listed on what we call the Multiple Listing Service.
Hopefully someone will fall in love with it.
We're going up there on Thursday .......... our first visit this year, as there have been so many things going on! We should be home on Sunday. We'll be staying in a hotel in the nearest town, which is about 60 km away ............... we emptied the cabin last year, and do not want to be taking stuff backwards and forwards. So this is the simple solution!
My doctors are trying me on a new bp pill ................ they were testing my bp in the office yesterday (I went to get prescription refills!!) ......................... one set of 6 readings taken at 2 minute intervals registered between 200 and 229 :-0
They did a second set, and those registered between 190 and 202 :-0 :-0
Then the pharmacist discovered that the wrong dosage of the new drug could interact badly with the cholesterol drug I'm on
Anyway, they sorted that out ................... and I'm to take the new one for 14 days, with a visit to the docs next Monday to do a bp.
If it is working as they hope, then they will gradually take me off one of the other ones, and I guess, gradually increase the dosage of this new one.
Not sure what happens about the cholesterol drug!
Marie ................. we stayed in that same area in 2006 ............... at the Best Western Stellar just about half a block down Wentworth from Hyde Square.
It was, shall we say "interesting'!!
Best Western had seemingly just taken it over, it was a conversion of an office block, I believe ............... and we had a continually leaking basin in the bathroom that didn't leak when the plumber came to look! It was actually very comfortable, and easy to get to everywhere because of the transit so close.
The main problem we had was that they only gave us one very tiny bar of soap, and we were there for 3 or 4 days :-S
We did have dinner one night at what was then the Marriott Hotel on College Avenue, overlooking Hyde Park ...... I see it is now called the Pullman Sydney Hyde Park
I had a lovely fillet of kangaroo steak, with a fruity reduction sauce :-D
take care, everyone

Hello saucy Jean, that green paint went ages ago, I changed it to cerise pink, but the neighbours complained, so now I have done it a lovely shade of white. It's gleaming in this sunshine, in fact it's dazzlingly white, and makes the eyes boggle when looking at it. No honey, we haven't been up to Blackpool for a couple of years now. It's such a long journey for us, and it tires us out so much, that when we get there, we just want to sleep, and thats a waste of money as far as we are concerned. Roly went to see the specialist today, and he gave us great news. The scans showed that there are no more likely places for him to have a bleed showing. He has increased his blood pressure pills to 7.5 rather than 5.00, but taken him of another of the BP pills, as they were causing his feet and ankles to swell. So we are really pleased with his progress, thank the good lord for his care of him.
I am just going to dish our Strawberries and ice cream up now, yummy. Bye for now my friends. Love Mo xxx oh and :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Good morning ladies, still very hot although not as much as you in the lower end of the country.... Marie, Your trip out with your family sounds lovely, I am stuck with the stuff I saved craft wise , much too much, so back to more sorting and selling again then hopefully I can get the room done and we can relax..... . I only have tubs I think you are thinking of our Ann who has a beautiful garden,
Sallie I will send you a pic of how much stuff I have in boxes , trolleys, bags yet so no where to do any cards yet , Its really stressing me out, I just dont seem able to let go , but I must and I will.... we have done all the cleaning and now need some sort of storage, but the heat drains me so its moving very slowly.
Mo , you do pick the right time to paint ..... right in the middle of an heatwave....doh....still I bet it was time the bright green paint you used last time did need toning down a bit, your neighbours keep me informed dont you know ;-) ;-) so I hope you have picked a more subtle colour in keeping with your age.....re...old....we opted for elegant black , so right for the age of the house btw are you coming up here for the lights this year....well cant sit here nattering things to do, places to go, see you all later,( give some smiles away, you will get some back) my thought for the day. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
take care love and smiles Jean xx <3

Hello my lovely friends. It's good to hear from you Marie. It sounds like you and your grandaughter had a great time in Sydney. I take it that Kerry drove to meet you, as you had to park the car up. Now that is somewhere I would love to go. The Sydney Harbour bridge conjures up wonderful images for me. Yes my love, it's been oh so hot here, if I could I would put some in a letter and send it to you. Come to that, the cyber hatch is not much use for sending it either. Our darts season is finished for the time being. Everyone is having holidays, so they hold it off till around September/October.
Ooh Ann, you were in the right place at the right time, getting the cardigan that cheap. I shall have to google Gazenia's as I don't know what they look like. Are they a perrenial plant? It sounds like they are a cross between a gardenia and zenias perhaps.
Sallie, I didn't manage very well in the heat painting outside, I was exhausted afterwards. Today we had to shift a load of wood up to the local tip. When our friend replaced our shed door for us, he left us to dispose of the old door. Poor Roly had to saw it up, and then we loaded it into the car to get rid of it. Afterwards we had to take the car and get it valeted, it was worse than a timber yard. But it's now nice and shiny and clean, apart from the knock it had on the front wing, when Roly had his stroke that is. The guys who cleaned it, kind of looked at it and wondered why we bothered to get it cleaned, but the knock is not that bad, just a dent to us. Oh well never mind, it still gets us from A to B.
Bye for now girls, take care. Love Mo xxx

Hello to you all , There you are saying how hot it is and I am sitting here with frozen feet.
It is raining here and is very cold but I don't mind the rain, better than the frosts and fog's we have been having. My Granddaughter Sarah and I went down on the train to Sydney on Saturday and meet up with my daughter Kerry. We stayed the night in the center of Sydney at a very nice Inn across from the Park where the War Memorial and Cenotaph were built. It is a lovely park.,the room was very nice It cost us $200 and that included Parking so it cost's us $70 each . We had a nice time as the weather and temperature were mild.
.I managed to buy 2 cardigans for a very reasonable price.
We came home by train from Sydney ,we left there at 5-50 pm and arrived home at 9-45 pm. I slept very well as we did a lot of walking on the 2 days.
Hi Sallie , Happy Birthday, sorry I missed your special day.
Ann congratulations on your new grandson Luke Stephen John I do love the name .
Hi Jean it sounds like your room will be very nice when you and J finish it.Have you been doing any gardening this summer?
Hi Mo good to hear you and Roly are well, how are the darts going??
Hello Sylvia ,How are you I hope the weather is being kind to right up there in the North . It is cold here and my right arthritic knee is letting me know it does not like the cold weather.
It is time for me to close and go and cover up some of my plants against the frost in case the rain should clear over night . Love and Hugs to you all <3 Marie
