Sylvia, the election starts on Saturday morning (it is now 5.17pm on Thursday). I already know I wont win the seat. I am just hoping I can gain enough votes for the party to get somebody in. Preferable several, but it doesnt look likely at present. People are not suffering enough yet to start listening to what we are saying.

I forgot to say, the rain had stopped by the time we went to take down the billboards and it took us just an hour, although I still have nails and staples to remove from things. I was glad to have help though as the winds were strong and the billboards were trying to blow away when they were no longer attached to the timber frames. It wouldnt have been easy for me to get them into the ute on my own.

Hello Ladies,
Yesterday I had trouble getting on GR and when I finally did the site was very, very slow and I alsokept getting error messages. And as far as I'm concerned the new messages centre is awful. I know, ' I'm a right old misery '.lolol!!
Huia, glad you and your daughter got the billboards down okay.
It would be nice if you could win the seat or as you say at least get enough votes to get someone from the party in.
It's the same everywhere, people don't bother unless they suffering from the policies that are in.
It's gone cloudy here now, the morning was bright and sunny but windy and cold. I pegged out the washing before going to Derby and so by the time I got home it was dry....just got to iron it now.
I bought some more Christmas presents so only have Richard, Christie and Alun left to get for now. I haven't a clue what to get for R and C, I've asked them but still waiting for them to tell me. Alun is easy to get for, I'm getting him three carriages for his train layout. Little boys and their toys.lolol!!
Mo, have you got a darts match tonight? If you have hope you and your team will win. Keeping my fingers crossed for you all.
Sorry to hear that Roly might have kidney stones, it seems a good while before he gets his xray.
Sylvia, sounds as though you are all suffering from gale force winds over there. I hope the winds haven't caused any damage to buildings, and trees etc.
Hope all is well with you and OH.
I'm going to prepare our dinner ready for later on and then get back to the card makiing, so might look in again later on if GR lets me.
Love and best wishes, Sallie.xxx

I don't know about anyone else, but I can't send any PM's at all. It's driving me mad, I just wish that GR had left things as they were.

No you are not a misery Sallie, I am finding the new message board awful as well, I can send and recieve messages but the old layout was much better. I don't like the new one. The problem I have with GR is it's so slow lately, this morning I went and made a cuppa while waiting for the page to move to the next one, I came back with it and the page still hadn't changed. I am due to renew my subscription early next year but not sure if it's worth it any more, but there again it's where I keep contact with my friends.

Caz, like you I'm so fed up of this site that I'm thinking if it carries on like this I won't even bother to renew my membership in March. Again it's taken me a while to get back on here and again more error messages.
How are things with you? Hope that you are feeling a bit better than you've felt over the last couple of months. Have you felt like making any cards lately.
Alun and I are going up to Ilkley on Saturday to see his sister and brother-in-law, so looking forward to that. They were going to come to see us at first, but brother-in-law is becoming a bit more agitated so we all thought it might be better for him if he's nearer home.
Well I'll say bye for now, will speak to you soon.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi all xxx
we have another gale coming in .... the rain is here, the wind will follow!
Sallie ........ not much damage to buildings, but lots of trees have been blown over.
We do get a lot of gales in mid-November into December, and then again around February.
I was having problems with the new message system ........ couldn't send any pms.
There is a thread about problems on the Suggestions Board ................ if you would like to post on it, then GR gets to know that more people are having trouble.
I've discovered that I can send pms if I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser. I nrmally use IE6 ..... which is old and way out of date, but I like it. But obviously the new messaging system doesn't like it.
So using IE might be the cause of your problem. It shoudln't matter waht browser you're using ................ but GR doesn't seem able to do that!

Thanks Sylvia, I'll have to wit until Alun gets home from the club so that I know what browser we use. I'm afraid I'm not very computer literate.
Shame about the trees blowing down but at least there is no damage to buildings and especially nice that no one has been hurt.
I'll have a look at the Suggestion thread and maybe tell them about the problems I'm having.
Ann I'm sure you said you and T are going to your son's this weekend. Hope you both have a lovely weekend with your son and his family and have a good and safe journey.

I quite like the lay out of the new message board but don't know why it takes so long to get on that it often times out and I get the error message. But the whole site has also been slow since they did the adjustment to the message board.
Ye you are right Sallie, going to son's tomorrow. OH is packing warm clothing as he is going to watch MK Dons play football with son and Grandson on saturday, then we shall all go for a meal.
Today we went to Gloucester where down by the docks there is a large Victorian markey which was very good.,
also detoured to M&S outlet centre and have to admit I am very pleased. I found a lovely black straight skirt, with wool, reduced from £35 to £11.99 and There were shorty style jackets, quite thick with big buttons, polyester but feel like wool (OK made in China but seem to be well made) reduced from £39.50 to £19.50. I couldn't decide between red and bright green so OH encouraged me (I needed no second telling) to buy both. And I also bought a red cardigan with small brass like buttons with red centres reduced from £25 to £15. So I feel I did very well. Got a couple of extra Chritmas presents in Pastimes as well as they had everything 50% off.

Sallie I would suggest if you have any problems with sending/receiving messages that you go to the announcements board and open Phil's technical blog and report it on there as he has a lot on ther about the message board updates.

Good grief Huia, I cant believe your card has arrived all ready, I suppose it's the blessing of sending it a bit early, but I never realised it would be that quick. lol ;-)
Ann, enjoy your weekend at your sons. You will have the opportunity to wear a few of your new cardigans.
It looks like our Sylvia has been bugged by the wind lately. ( not the gaseous belly type I might add. lol) Just take care when going outside Sylv's we dont want you getting blown away now do we.
Oooh I have just thought, I wonder if I have missed Sallie before she sets of for Ilkey. Have a safe and enjoyable time both of you.
Bye for now girls, love Mo xxx

When I visited England in 1997 with my sister and bro-in-law we visited Ilkley briefly. Sis and I put a foot each under a fence into a paddock and sang 'On Ilkley moor' although I dont think it was the real moor.
We also visited Otley where our gt grandmother was born, but unfortunately I didnt have her b cert or know as much detail as I now do.
I have to take the recycling stuff to Hunua this morning, paper, cardboard, plastic, tins. Then of course I have to go and vote. That will make at least 3 votes for me, despite the fact that a poll in our local paper didnt give me any. Maybe the poll will cause a lot of people to give me their vote in sympathy! But I know there will be more anyway.

Hi all xxx
another gale due in tomorrow (Saturday), Mo :-D
Huia ...... hope the vote goes well.
I did a bit too much on Thursday, and am paying for it. It is Fall Graduation at the university, and we went to the University President's Reception for Honorary Degree Recipients on Thursday evening. Less than 2 hours, but we were standing the whole time ...... it's like a cocktail party, but with a few speeches. I got tired, but then this wretched fatigue from the operation struck.
It usually takes a couple of days to go away. And it will gradually get better.
Of course, I don't know whether it has improved or not other than by doing too much :-D :-D

For those who are interested, I was the lowest scoring candidate in this electorate. I received 74 votes. Our party nation-wide received only 0.1% of the vote. I just hope that the people will not suffer too much when the crunch comes. I dont want us to be another Greece/Germany/Italy etc with the financial moguls telling our govt what to do.

Oh my lord, poor Jean, I bet she is devastated after this happening to her. I just thank the lord that we don't do any banking of any sort on line. I just hope that the culprit is caught and punished for putting both Jean and Jeff through this. Thank you for letting us know Caz. xxx
And Sylvia, ( slap slap, you know you are not to overdo things love.) you will wear yourself out before christmas at this rate. SLOW DOWN woman will you.
It looks like we have got the gale force winds that Sylvia had earlier in the week. I have put anything that is moveable away out of harms way. I just hope we have a roof in the morning. If I wake to hear the birds singing, I will look to see if they have joined me in my room before I get out of my bed and then look up to see if the bedroom ceiling is still there. lol ;-)
Night Night, God Bless you all Mo xxx

Bad luck Huia, it is what happens to candidates of smaller organisations I guess. But they can't say you didn't try.
Caz, thanks for letting us know. I have never heard of anyone losing money from a paypal account before. And that is a heck of a lot of money to have in your paypal account. I wonder how they accessed it. Unlesspaypal have lost it in some way.

Good evening everyone Sorry to hear that Jean has been robbed, beacuase that is really what has happened. Huia sorry you didn't get lots of votes but 74 shows you have some followers as you thought you would have zero votes yourself.
I have spent the last week decorating my youngest daughters flat with my newly retired hubby. No wonder people say they don't know how they had time to go to work !!! We haven't stopped.
Today I have been with my brothers and sisters trying to empty Mum's flat, as she is now in a care home and we have to sell it to pay for her care. I have many photos, thankfully lots of old ones, but so many with no names, places or dates. Yesterday I copied some and e-mailed them to a distant cousin, who I had previously found on Ancestry. She sounded pleased, I think they were new to her. Today I have copeid more, some for my sister as she is interested in Genealogy too. Others for another cousin and I hope she hasn't got these either.
Tomorrow I must clear my own house as I have a wedding reception on 16th December and then Christmas to prepare for too.
Sleep well my friends and lets appreciate the good weather before is is stolen away..
