Hi Girls,

Ann, I hadn't thought of looking in Poundland for a scarf...I'll look next time I go to Derby. We've been to the Range this afternoon, I only went for some Christmas wrapping paper and tags but I couldn't resist looking in the craft area, so spent more than I thought to again. I spent £30 altogether, most of which was on craft stuff.lol!!!

Alun pointed out that he thought I was going to give up card making, which I keep saying, but I enjoy doing them and as you know Ann, making them is like an addiction. The trouble is I make them in the dining room and it looks such a mess at times, especially now with all the Christmas cards to make as well as the birthday cards.

I did use the smallerl spare bedroom at one time, but I just felt so cut off from everyone, so started using the dining room again.

Sylvia, sorry to hear about all the power cuts after the high winds. Hope your friends on Vancouver Island are safe and that they didn't suffer any damage to their property.

Good for you, spoiling yourself! I'm pleased that you found the ones that you liked and all in different colours too. I generally find that if I find something that I like I can't always get it in the colours that I need.

Well I'm going to make a cuppa now, so will pop back later on.

Hope everyone else is okay.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Good evening everyone.
Aaahh Sallie, how could you miss my posting...... it took me ages to get it sorted out,and to actually get it to send, before it deleted itself on it's own.
Talking of the pound shops girls, do you have the 99p shops in your areas.
Our local one in Gillingham, is very very popular. Nothing is over the 99p priced on the shop front.
A lot of people now do their weekly shop in there, as they stock all the goods that the bigger branded supermarkets do.
With the prices having risen so much, you can't blame people.

Good on you Sylvia, having a lovely spend up does you good, and you will be kept nice and warm in the process.

Ann it was nice to see you over on the friendlies thread, dont forget to go back and say hello to the crazy gang sometimes.

I hope that you are all o.k,and trying to keep fighting fit.
Love to our Jean,Joyce, Caz,Marie, Huia, Betty,Liz and all our friends who I may have forgotten to mention.
Take care of yourselves. Love Mo xxx

Hi everyone
Sallie I was shopping with my daughter yesterday and she bought a warm scarf in Primark, they had lots of different ones and also hats(including those worn by the young and trendy), gloves and even ear muffs too. Daughters scarf was £3:90 reduced from £5 and they had soft leather gloves(like the driving ones) for £7. Might be worth a look if you have one near you.

Mo I went into the poundshop too and got lots of J&J products for the baby for a pound each, also Heinz salad cream, which seems to go up every time I go into Tesco or Sainsburys.

I'll try to start adding again as I have been rather lapse as lot has happened family wise recently, but I do still read about you all.

Sallie Report 13 Nov 2011 21:46

Hi Girls,

Linda, it's lovely to hear from you again. As you say please pop in and have a chat with us when you can. We've really missed you and
all our other friends that we haven't heard from for a long while.

I know you have had a few family problems and was sorry to hear about your dad. Hope things are not too bad with your mum at the moment.

Yes we buy some things from both Poundland and Poundworld, as you say they sell some well known brands a lot cheaper than Asda and Tesco. My friend will only have a cup of tea if she's got a KitKat to have with it, they cost £1.89 in Asda and Tesco so she buys them from the pound shops.

I will have to go into Primark and see what they have there. I haven't been in there for ages.

Mo, we have a 99p shop in Derby, but I never think to go in there. One of my neighbours and her daughter buy a lot from there. I think I'll have to go in there when I next go to Derby, which will prpbably be sometime in the week.

I often look in on the Friendly thread, but don't know whether I should post on it, as you all know each other well so I don't like to impose.

I been wondering lately Mo how your nephew is getting on, I hope he is improving.

If you are playing darts tomorrow night, hope your team will win.

Ann, I have eighteen cards for you to put on your blog, hope that's okay.

I was hoping to do some more of the desk calendar I am making this evening, but we've had a few phone calls so wasn't able to do anything. Never mind there's always tomorrow.

Marie, how are things with you and your family? I hope all is well with you all.

Caz, hope you are feeling a bit better than you've been lately. It's always nice to hear from you.

Betty, how are you? It's a while since we heard from you. Hope you are alright.

Thinking of Sylvia, Jean, Tess, Huia and Liz. Hope I haven't missed anyone out.

Well I'll say goodnight to everyone. Speak to you all tomorrow.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Mo, I will try and remember to 'drop in' on the Friendlies occasionally, it does take a bit of courage, as Sallie says it feels like you are intruding.
We have a 99p shop in Gloucester but I hate it because it is so cramped and crowded. I do go into Poundland in Gloucester and another £1 shop in Cheltenham.

Sallie, 18 cards are fine.

Linda, good to see you back on here again.

Hi all
xxx

the sun is shining here, and it is nice and peaceful after the big winds and heavy rains of the last couple of days!

Ann .......... vests to us are I think what I used to call waistcoat.

Vest to you are what we call undervests.

The best I can say to describe these is that they are open-fronted cardigans, with short sleeves and no fastenings. All are knitted, but very different designs.

Two are different colours in the same style, but the others are different styles. 3 of them are long .... to mid-thigh or thereabouts, and the other 2 are shorter (about mid-hip)

I've got several down vests which I wear round the house, but these new ones are dressier ....... and provide neat camouflage when combined with a scarf.

Who can tell what is, or is not, under all that ;-)

Sallie ........ I have the same problem of not being able to find the colour I want, or alternatively of finding what I want but thinking I'll just have another look round ............. and then i can't find the one I'd found!

Love to everyone

Mo in Kent Report 14 Nov 2011 15:40

My goodness me, I have missed you all chatting away, but it so lovely to read all the posts.

Linda it's lovely to hear from you again.
Girls did you know that Linda is going to be a grandmother next year. She has been busy knitting lots of bits for baby, and also for other children in foreign parts. She is such a kind, gentle woman, who has now joined the retired clan.
She is very good at doing decorating as well..... so get your orders in now girls, in readiness for christmas, we can't have her sitting on her BTM can we. lol ;-)

Sallie, like Ann and anyone else who cares to join, will be made welcome on the friendlies thread. They are a great bunch, the same as our friends on here.
Huia pops in every so often as well.
I haven't seen very much of my nephew Sallie, but no news is good news where he is concerned. I just thank the lord that he is still with us.

Ann, our 99p shop is humongous. It used to be an old Woolworths store and it has plenty of floor space between the aisles.
There is nothing worse than trying to look at something on a shelf, and people getting in the way.
It's normally my luck when I go to a bigger supermarket ,to get stuck behind young mums with babies in prams, who I know want to do their own shopping, but I could be in and out quicker, if they didn't stand and read every word on tins or boxes. Cooo that was me years ago, not now though, I know what I want and try to run in and buy my goods and get back out again as quick as possible.

Sylvia, my under vests are being worn, then a jumper, I will not allow myself to get cold. If it get to chilly in the house, my fleece jacket goes on. When I go out, my thick winter coat accompanies me, plus my hat, scarf and gloves. I look like Nanook of the north, done up for winter. lol

I wonder how Huia got on at the weekend. Perhaps she will pop in later and let us know.

I must love you and leave you now, and go and prepare some dinner. Roast chicken, roast potato's and veggies for our meal tonight.
Bye for now, love to you all. Mo xxx

Sallie Report 14 Nov 2011 18:17

Hi Girls,

Yes Mo it's great seeing everyone chatting on here, isn't it?

Today my taste buds and sense of smell have come back after my cold. I feel a bit silly, as all this morning I thought I could smell gas, so Alun popped home in his lunch hour to check and decided to phone the Gas company to have it checked. Of course everything was OK, so felt awful that we had called them out. The chap that came was very nice and told me that they would prefer to be called out and check it even if everything is fine, than to have something bad happen.

One good thing that came out of it, was that he told me that whoever fitted our gas fire had fitted a part the wrong way round although not dangerous it seems that the flames go in the opposite direction to how they should. So now we know why we have never felt as warm as we should have with it.lol!!

Mo I might look in on the Friendly thread later on just to say hello to them.

As you say you haven't heard anthing about your nephew for a long while.......as they say ' no news is good news'. Let's hope he is going along alright.

Sylvia, I tend to be like you, I see something I like but maybe not the colour so decide to look somewhere else and if I can't find it go back to the first place and find that it has gone.
I even tend to be like that when I'm buying Christmas presents, not too sure about something so leave it and by the time I've decided to go back for it, it's gone. If only I could be a bit more positive at times.lol!!

Ann we tried sending you the card photos last night, but for some reason we couldn't. We'll try again later on and hope they will go this time.

No news from Huia, I hope everything is alright with her and her family.

Jean, if you are looking in, you have some lovely cards on Ann's blog.
Hope all is well with you, Jeff and Debra.

Linda, I didn't realise that you are going to become a grandmother next year. I bet you are excited and happy to be knitting all the lovely baby things ready for the baby's arrival.

I wish sometimes I was into knitting rather than card making as the place stays so much tidier.lol!!.

Jude, I'm sorry I didn't mention you last night as I know that you popped in sometimes to have a chat with us. Hope all is okay with you and your family.

I have to go now, but might pop in later on.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

PS Mo if you have a darts match tonight, good luck.

Hello to you all.
My luck was in to-day. I have managed to get into the posts without too much trouble.
I have read the last two pages , you all seem to be so busy with Xmas Cards and such ,I have completed my shopping for my Young grand children <3 they are the only ones I am buying for this year, because thing's are rather tight finacially for the family we have decided not to buy present's for each other. We will all share the cost of Xmas Dinner this year it will be at Barbara's house.
I will have to get busy and do my Xmas letter.

Sylvia I am so happy for you ,it is good news you would be pleased not to have to take the medication.

Caz it is nice to know your blood test's were encouraing but not so good to hear you have had a fall, you will have to water down the wine LOL ;-) ;-) ;-)

Dutch it was nice to see you back on the posts are you feeling a little better.
I do hope all is well with your family and all those new grandchildren.

We are almost into our Summer and the days are quite warm too hot to garden except, only early morning and late evening .My Veggies are coming along well, I have had the most beautiful Poppies the heads on them are as big as a butter plate, not and open cup shape, but masses of petals as tight as a large fist.
I wish I was as clever as Huia I would take a photo to show you I could do that but it would be putting the photo onto the internet that I would not be able to manage.

Mo I hope you won at darts last night. Has anyone heard from Jean ? I noticed she was not among the posts
Hi Jean I hope you and Jeff also Debbie are all well,Love to you <3

Sallie, have you been told to give up drinking tea?that will be hard for you,
I have had to cut out my sugar as my sugar count was too high I am still finding it hard,as I now dont enjoy my black tea so I have now have a little milk in it but I dont enjoy it as much.

Hi Huia, how is your campaign going when does the voting take place? :-)I hope all goes well for you.

Hi Ann in Glos ,you are a busy lady able to post on other sites I cant manage to find time to post on 2 sites that I post on now.
I still haven't managed to get into your Blog with the card's on.
Well friend's I do hope I havent missed anyone,if I have please forgive as I dont mean to miss anyone.

Hi there girls. I have been so busy I dont know which end is up.

The A & P show was not, in my opinion, as good as previous years and I heard another couple of women saying the same thing. The crowds just did not seem to be there, but I stuck with it for the 2 days, although I knocked off 2 hours before closing on the Sunday as the wind was getting up, and I was fed up with children on scooters on a special ramp right next to my tent, sometimes they almost came through it when they came off and didnt seem to care. On my way home I stuck a couple of small signs up near Hunua.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon in the Hospice shop, and afterwards I went to one of our Political member's home to put a double sided sign on his front lawn.

Today I stuck another sign up in Papakura then caught the train to Auckland to visit the 'Occupy' camp in Aotea square. There werent many people there but I spoke to some of them. I am thinking of going again on Saturday when they will have more people and a meeting on Finance.

Tomorrow I go to the Manukau Library at 11.00 to collect some of my stuff that they have been copying, then I will probably visit Phil after lunch, if the special votes arent being taken then (candidates are not allowed to be present). At 3.30 I have an appointment at the Super Clinic near Manukau, to have the Lichen schlerosis checked out. I might put some leaflets in letterboxes somewhere, after that, and have an early dinner as there is a candidate's meeting in Beachlands at 7.30pm.

I should be writing a letter to the editor of a local paper as the reporter who was present at the last meeting in Pukekohe mis-reported what I said, and didnt make our party sound so good.

Busy busy busy.

Huia.

ps, the elections are 11 days away.

Morning all, I will be off line sometime soon our whole system regarding the computers in the house are having an overhaul, so my daughter tells me, I dont know how long it will take but she assures me its is badly needed, so being a thicko when it come s to anything technical I dont argue.... we have had many hiccups for some time and its essential for D as she works from home a lot... so there you are ....
Sallie the cards a great , I love the elegant lady, and thank you for your kind remarks ....
Marie, thank you for the e-mail, we are very much likke you cutting back on presents this year we have to have a wall rebuilt at the back of the house estimated cost £ 600, we have just had a wall sorted in the lounge too. these old house always need looking after...

Hi Girls,

Oh it's lovely to hear from you all. You all have been very busy.

Jean, Alun has just had to sort out all the computer system for one of his mates from the model railway club. He was having a lot of problems and with him having his own small bus company (private hire and coach trips) he had to get it seen to. I think there is one more thing left to sort out so Alun will probably do that over the next couple of weeks. At least John can get on with running the business now.

At least you can so more than me on a computer, Alun has to put all my all my photos on the computer and then e-mail them. I'm hopless.lol11

Huia, you are a very busy lady, as Jean said, I wish I knew what you take for all the energy you have.

Sorry that the show wasn't as good as it has been in previous years...hope it will be a lot better next year.

Did your son come up to see you as you expected him to? Hope he did and that you enjoyed his stay with you.

Hope all is well as it can be with Phil when you visit him today.

Marie, I envy you having your summer soon, we have all our winter to get through. I never minded wintertime when I was younger, but hated it more as I've got older.

The poppies you have grown sound wonderful, it's a pity you can't send us all a photo of them to look at.

Ann, we sent the rest of the card photos last night, but not sure if they all went. We also think that that you might have at two lots of the same ones. We think that Yahoo is playing up for some reason.

Well I must go and get some cards done now, so will speak to you all later on.

I had visitors this afternoon, Laura, Chloe and Gracie, they called in after school. While they were here Chloe made two Christmas cards, she loves making them and I must say she's good at doing them too.

They didn't go until 6.25pm so we were late having out dinner tonight. Never mind, I really enjoy having them.

Well, that is the last of the public candidates meetings, I think. We had to go to Beachlands for it, on the eastern side, and 2 of the candidates come from Awhitu on the western side. Quite a long way for them to travel. My journey home took almost an hour, I wasnt travelling as fast as I might have in daylight as there were quite a few cars coming the other way and I had to keep dipping the lights.

In the morning I went to the Manukau library to collect my books and photos which they had copied. The man has started putting the photos on their website. I am not sure where I put the piece of paper with the website details on, too tired to look for it now.

From the library I looked in the shops and had my lunch then went to visit Phil. He was awake all the time I was there. I then went to the Super Clinic for a check-up. That did not take too long, so back in Papakura I bought a hot roast takeaway and came home, ate it then changed and went to the meeting. I dont know where my energy has been coming from, as I didnt have all that much sleep last night, but I expect it will catch up with me soon.

Time is now 11.23pm so off to bed soon.
