I have already more or less decided on the bottoms to take, just in case you are worried that I might not be 'decent' and scare the locals!

Hi Sylvia,

I'm sure you feel a lot better after having your hair done, hope it wasn't too uncomfortable for you while you were having it washed.

Hope you enjoyed your trip out for morning coffee, it was very kind of the owners to give you a free latte to welcome you back.

Will be thinking of you on Thursday when you have the drain taken out..it will be more comfortable for you then, I'm sure.

Well I'll say goodnight now, speak to you soon.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Thank you all for your kind concern for my illness, it is painful and making me feel so ill. I had to go to the cancer doctor this morning and everyone asked if I was ok as I looked poorly, lol, if I wasn't already feeling it I would have after all that.
The good news is that the cancer count is going down in my blood so I am really pleased at that, I didn't really want to go and thought of cancelling but I'm glad I went now.
Sylvia those drains are uncomfortable aren't they, I had one in when I had my cancer out but then I got an abcess and MRSA in the wound where it had been, I must be so unlucky. I'll be thinking of you on Thursday when you have the drain out.

Got to go so hello to everyone else and I hope I'm back to normal soon.

Love Caz. xx

Caz, I'm so pleased to hear that the cancer count in your blood is down, thank goodness for that.

Hope that your kidney infection will soon be gone......even though the antibiotics are doing the job, I sometimes think that they just don't work as quick as we want them to.lol!!

Sylvia, good luck for tomorrow, I will be thinking about you.

Carrying on the chain for both Sylvia and Caz.

AnninGlos Report 1 Oct 2011 17:42

Not much action on here the past couple of days. Well we returned on 29that 12,30am (that was the time we reached home after 13 hours travelling.) We had a lovely time and it was great to get home to an Indian summer, so it was on with the shorts again and we felt quite at home in the heat. Have now managed to return the garden to its proper state and done 3 loads of washing. Took a day out to go to Cheltenham today. Next week I have to start on my Christmas cards and finish off the washing. And T will have to catch up with his golf.

good to read all the news, Pleased the cancer count is down Caz and I hope you can soon kick the kidney infection into touch. Pleased to see that you are making progress Sylvia, well done.

Hello to Mo, Jean and others and I hope that Huia has a great holiday.

Mo in Kent Report 1 Oct 2011 19:34

Hello strangers,
Sorry to have been missing for the last few days, but have been a busy bee.
I hope that Huia is enjoying her well deserved holiday, I know we will miss her, but she will have lots to tell us when she gets back.

Welcome home Ann, so good to hear that you had a lovely time.
13 hours is a long time to be travelling. The problem with that is, that when we get home, our body is still in travel mode, and takes us a while to settle down and get some rest to recover.
The garden takes some putting to right following a holiday doesn't it. The weeds seem to take over, if they get a chance.

We won at darts on Thursday night, and last night I went to bingo with my daughter and grandaughter.
It was free last night, and I had two wins, my grandaughter won once, and my daughter had to share a win. We ended up winning £6.00 each, saying it was a free night that was not bad was it. lol
I went to see our cheeky little monkey Lilly today. She is growing up so fast, it doesn't seem possible to think she was only born last January, yet she seems so advanced for her age.

I hope that everyone is well, and enjoying our lovely weather.

Sylvia, I hope you are continuing to improve, and feel better every day.

Reporting in .................

Nurse came about 3 hours ago

52 staples later, the nurse says .................

"I have never before removed so many staples"

she even wondered if the staple gun had "gone wrong" as there were so many very close together in one area :-0 :-0

Trust me! :-D :-D :-D

Drain still in :-(

no shower tomorrow :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 1 Oct 2011 21:44

Sylvia, glad to hear the staples are removed but sorry you still have the drain in.

Well done Mo on the darts win and the £6 bingo win, not something I play so I am not likely to win any money there.

Yes travelling is very tiring even if you are sitting most of the time as we were. It has taken a few days for our bodies to get back to normal and we are still waking up late. On holiday we were going to bed about 11/11.30 and waking around 9am. We are back to going to bed before 11 and still waking up late, although not as late as 9am. In Tenerife it doesn't get light until after 07.30 which is why we woke up later I think. Almost back to normal now though.
It was not so much the weeds as the lawn which was so long. It all looked much better once that was cut and a few shrubs trimmed back.

Hi Girls,

Sorry I haven't been on for a few days, I've been under the weather with a heavy cold so I haven't done much over th last three days, although I've made three Christmas cards this evening, so Imust be feeling better.

Sylvia, I can't get over how many staples you had, I'm sure you must feel a lot more comfortable now that they've been removed. It will be nice when the you have the drain removed too, so that you can have a shower or bath, you'll feel a lot better then.

Have they told when it will be removed? Hope it's over the next day or two.

How is ope MJ doing? Hope he's alright, I expect he's really grown a lot by now.

Ann, nice to 'see' you home and pleased to know that you and T had a lovely holiday.
The trouble with going on holiday, is all the gardening when you get home.
Still it's nice to go away.

Mo, well done on your win at darts and also your win at bingo. As you say your win paid for your night out.

It certainly sounds as though Lilly is growing very fast.....they don't seem to be babies very long, which is a shame......oh, I love babies.

Caz, I hope you are feeling better, and that the infection is going.

Jean, hope all is well with you, Jeff and Debra.

Hope that all our other friends are all well.

Will speak to you all tomorrow.

Mo in Kent Report 2 Oct 2011 18:46

Hello girls, how are we all today.

Another beautiful day here in Kent, the sun was oh so hot that I couldn't bear to be out in it for long.
The roads going to the coast were chocker block, with cars bumper to bumper.
Thank goodness we were not cooped up in the car sweating buckets. We do have an air conditioner in the car, but we love to feel the wind blowing in our face, rather than starting to freeze when the aircon kicks in fully.

My word Sylv's, I'm surprised you didn't fall apart after she had taken that amount of staples out. Thats probably why you were in surgery so long, it must have taken them ages to staple you together again.
Have they said how long the drains will be in for. I bet you can't wait to be able to have a lovely soak in your bath.

Ann, wasn't T able to get a few rounds of golf in while you were away.
We dont go abroad for our holidays, but my son always goes to countries, where he and my grandson can get to a few golf courses.
My daughter in law and grandaughter, are pleased when they go, so that they can then go and get some pampering done on themselves.

Hi there Sallie, good to see you back, but sad that you have caught that blessed virus that seems to be doing the rounds again.
So many people in this area, have been plagueing the doctors with flu/ cold like symptoms, and the doctors are saying it's a virus. Mind you, most things these days they attributed to a virus.
My daughter will be 47 on Wednesday, and she had to see the emergency doctor yesterday as she had not been feeling to well for a few days. The doctor has told her she has got Shingles.
She will have to have at least a week off of work. But I didn't think that shingles was contagious, but the G.P told her it could be.
Both my mum and Roly have had it, and I cared for both of them, so I just hope I dont catch it now, thats all I would need. lol

Has anyone had their flu jab yet? I was told I would have to wait till after my birthday, but some of my friends who have had it, have had sore arms following it, more so than at any other time.

Well my lovely friends, I will say cheerio for now, take good care of yourselves. Love Mo xxx

Hi Girls,

Mo, as you say a lot of things we suffer with these days is mostly put down to a virus.lol!!

I'm feeling a lot better today, I've still got a bit of a headache but it's not as bad as it's been, thank goodness. Richard's girlfriend Christie, as also had the same symptoms as me for a couple of days, so I'm hoping she
has started to feel better too.

Sorry to to hear that your daughter has shingles, it's quite a nasty thing to have. My sister-in-law had it a few years back and was off work (she's a teacher) a couple of months. Anyway I hope your daughter's shingles doesn't last as long as Sylvia's did.

We went to PC World with Jennie and Michael this afternoon.......Jennie was looking for a new laptop, she wanted one that was quicker and could hold more info, so managed to get one that they could afford and what she needed. So we have one happy daughter now.lol!!!

Caz, hope you are feeling a lot better today and that you have managed to get a few nights good sleep. You know we are here for you when you need us.

I read on one ot the threads that Phil starts back to work tomorrow after suffering from pneumonia. Sending him my best wishes and hope it all goes well for him.

Sylvia, hope that everthing is going along as it should be for you and that you will soon be able to have a shower or a nice log soak in the bath.
Take care.

Ann, I have some photos of cards for your blog, so as soon as I can I'll get Alun to send them for me. If that's okay with you?

We haven't heard from Jean, Dutch, Betty and tess for a while, just hope that they are all alright.

Also hope that Huia and Marie are enjoying their holidays. Hope all went well with Marie's family reunion.

Well I'll say bye for now, speak to you all soon.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

AnninGlos Report 2 Oct 2011 22:29

Sally, yes that will be fine send the photos when you can. I hope the cold/virus improves soon.

Mo, you can catch chicken pox from shingles so your daughter should stay away from people who have not had it. I was told to stay away from pregnant women too.

Sallie

Sallie Report 3 Oct 2011 11:53

Morning Ladies.

Just a quick look in to see how you all are. I know that Huia and Marie are away, but where is everyone else? Hope you are all okay.

Ann, I'm hoping that Alun will send the photos to you tonight, but don't hold your breath.lol!!! I was hoping that he would have sent them to Jude while you were away, but he never got round to it.

A great aunt of mine, caught shingles from one of her children and it left her stone deaf for the rest of her life, she died when she was 92. She always warned the women in the family if they were pregnant, to keep away from children with chicken pox and also warned older people to keep away from them too.

Mo, do you have a darts match tonight? If you have, I hope that you and your new team will win.

Well ladies, I'm going up to town now, so hope to speak to you all later on.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi all
xxx

Yes, you do have to be careful of shingles.

It is caused by the same virus that causes chicken-pox ......... and it seems that you do not develop shingles unless you have previously had chicken-pox. But you can catch chicken-pox from a shingles patient.

The virus lingers (or becomes latent) in the body, seeming to hide in parts of the nervous system, often for many years. Then stress, exposure to chicken-pox or other "unknown" causes can cause it to come out of hiding in later life ....... and you get shingles.

Shingles usually follow the line of nerves ....... around the body under the breast is one favourite place apparently ......... and that is why it can be so very painful.

Direct contact with the active rash of shingles will spread the virus to someone who has no immunity to the disease ....... but they will develop chicken-pox, not shingles.

My m-i-l developed it about 2 months after they sold their chemist's shop and retired ........... she rarely complained (the stiff upper-lip type :-) ), but did say it was more painful that anything else that she'd had.

The nurse came this morning ....... but decided to leave the drain in for another day! :-( :-( She's pretty sure that it will come out tomorrow.

I've made an appointment with my haridresser to have my hair washed and dried this afternoon.

Sallie .... the little family is doing well, thank you. We probably won't see MJ until next July ....... he'll certainly have changed by then!!

Caz ...... I hope you are feeling better. I was so pleased to read of the cancer cell result. Way to go, girl!

Good evening girls.
Sylvia, I do hope they take that darned drain out tomorrow for you love.
You will then feel that you are on the road to improvement, without all the foreign bodies sticking out of your body, what with clips, drains and all the needles you have had, you must be getting fed up of it all. But thanking the lord, that is was discovered early.

Sallie, the new darts season for our local league starts on the 10th of October, but I am still playing on Thursday nights.
So tonight is a rest period for me, so I can do whatever I want tonight, and that does make a pleasant change I have to admit.

Hi Sallie. how's the card making coming along now?. I bet there is no holding you down now that you have started again.
Did you hit the craft shop whilst you were in town. lol

Well my friends, I am going to make Im Indoors a cuppa now, poor so and so's tongue is hanging out again. Anyone would think he didn't know how to put the kettle on.
Take care, love to you all. Mo xxx

Yes, I too hope the drain can come out tomorrow Sylvia, it will be much more comfortable for you. I am sure it feels bettter to get your hair washed too.

Well, the weather is set to change tomorrow to windy and cloudy with showers. And we have planned to take our friend out for a ride and lunch in a garden centre. Not that we expected the good weather to last but a few more days would have been good.

Sallie

Sallie Report 3 Oct 2011 23:16

Sylvia, hope that the drain will deffinitely be taken out tomorrow, I'm sure you will be glad when that's done.

Pleased to hear that your family are all alright. It's a shame you might not see them until next July, as you say MJ will have changed a bit by then.

Good luck for tomorrow.

Mo, I somehow got it into my head that you were playing darts tonight but with a different team......just put it down to old age.lol!!

Yes I'm busy doing cards at the moment, I keep saying that I'm not going to bother doing them anymore, but I really enjoy making them when I'm feeling okay, so I still carry on.

No, I didn't buy anything from the craft shop up town Mo, although the ladies that own it are very nice, they don't keep a lot of the stash I use, so I tend to wait until I go to Derby, where there are four craft shops, three of which are very good.

Ann, I sent you the photos of my cards earlier on, hope you get them okay,
there are seventeen altogether.

Hope the weather stays dry for you tomorrow when you take your friend out for a ride and lunch. Enjoy yourselves anyway, which I'm sure you will.
Take care.

I had a pm from Caz earlier on, we are both wondering if Jean and Jeff are alright as she hasn't heard anything from Jean since last Thursday, which is unusual. So we are both hoping all is well there.

Well ladies, I'm just about ready for bed now, so will speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Perhaps Jean and Jeff have gone to Wales for a short break. But then thinking about it, she would have let Caz know wouldn't she.
Now I am starting to get concerned.
JEANIEEEEEEEEE if you are around, can you please let us know that you are both o.k purleeeeezzzeee.

Thanks Sallie for pointing out about Jeans being missing. I know she doesn't come on here as often as she did before Jeffs operation , as she is caring for him, but we do miss her happy smiley face.

Ann, if it was left up to Roly, he would pass out from thirst and starvation.
We had to order ourselves a new three piece suite yesterday. The one we have is not yet two years old, but we bought it from land of leather, before they went broke.
Roly's chair has lost it's padding from the seat, and his bottom is starting to vanish into the chair itself. Before much longer he will be sitting on the floor below the seat. lol
I told him he should go on a diet to lose some weight, but his bad arthritus in his knees, prevents him from doing anything exherting, so there he sits all day in his chair, with me running ragged getting him his cups of tea. lazy so and so that he is, but I still love him for all his faults.

Heres hoping that we get some more good news from Sylvia tonight.

I hope that Huia is enjoying her holiday.

Bye for now girls, love to you all. Mo xxx

Yes, strange that we have not heard anything from Jean. Maybe she has computer trouble. There ought to be something that, if we send an e mail and the computer is down it could send an e mail back automatically saying "sorry PC is sick".

Sallie, we didn't go for our planned ride as our friend (another Jean) was unwell. As we were mainly going to give her a run out (she was widowed in April and we take her out sometimes) and the weather was a lot duller and cooler than it has been, we decided to go into town on the bus instead and save petrol. We walked down to Gloucester docks to the outlet shops, spent some money in M&S and then walked back into town to have lunch at a town centre pub that we had not been to for years.

Since then been staring at my stuff trying to sort out a birthday card for youngest Grandson.
