Mo, I had trouble hearing one customer in the shop the other day. She had a bit of an accent, and she seemed to be whispering. I think I will have to get somebody else to deal with such customers. I do have an appointment with the H.A. people this afternoon so I hope things can be improved, particularly with the fit. They shouldnt fall out but they are so difficult to put in. I havent had that trouble with previous aids.

Mo, sorry to hear about your nephew, it sounds as though he has had a stroke.......hope his condition will soon improve and that he will make a good recovery.
Tess, yes a lot of old people will suffer if they have to start paying for each bus journey, but the way things are at the moment I can see them starting to charge in the not too distant future. Enjoy the rest of your grandson and son's visit.

I visited Phil again today. I took another soft toy, a 'bookworm' with 8 legs. It is in lovely bright colours, red, yellow, green, blue, and soft and velvety. He held it for a long time as if it was a cat. He was actually looking at me a few times. When I got back to Papakura I went to the hearing aid place and the woman increased the volume a little and put in a third 'programme' with even greater volume for when I am in the hospice shop and get a very quiet voiced customer.
I did a little shopping and got home at 5.30, so cooked dinner and didnt bother about lighting the fire. It has been raining and is fairly cold so I have the fan heater going. I will probably go to bed early.
Our son will be coming up from Rotorua about lunch time on Saturday (midnight Friday your time). We will visit Phil together. I just hope Phil is awake and alert again.
Jean, I will put more photos on the blog sometime, but not sure when.

Hello everyone. Good news, my nephew is coming home. They did his scan, and say he has a viral infection. No problems with his brain, thank the lord. They don't prescribe anti-biotics for a virus, so his body has to heal itself. He still has no use of his arm, and his speech is dificult to understand. Apparantly, because he had the brian weakness after his surgery, he will be open to all kinds of infections. And as his girlfriend had the flu virus the week before, they seem to think he caught it from her.
Huia, it's great to hear that Phil was more interested in you when you visited him. Perhaps the Bookworm does remind him of your cat, and thats why he snuggled up to it. Lets hope the hearing aids do a better job for you now. It will be nice for you to see your son on Saturday.
I have to go now girls as we are both going out tonight, TOGETHER, now that makes a nice change. lol
Love to you all. Mo xxx

Hi Girls,
Mo I'm so pleased to hear that your nephew has nothing worse than a viral infection, although that is bad enough. I hope that the use of his arm will soon come back and that his speech will also improve. Sending him lots of positive thoughts and get well wishes.
Jean, I'm still waiting for Alun to e-mail the photos of my cards to Ann......I know I should do them myself, but I can never remember what to do.lol!!
Good to hear that Jeff is improving and is eating well. There's nothing like homemade pies, so much nicer than the shop bought ones.
Glad to hear that you are into doing your cards again. I have quite a few birthday cards to make and I've made a start on my Christmas cards. I've also got a desk calendar to make for my brother as one of his Christmas pressies, so I'll have to get a move on.
Huia, pleased to hear that Phil was more responsive and that he liked the soft toy that you took for him, as Mo said, maybe it reminded him of your cat. Hope your son will have a good journey up to see you and Phil. It will be nice for you to have some company over the weekend too.
Hope that all our other friends on here are alright.
Well ladies, I'll speak to you all tomorrow, take care.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Sallie if you send the photos this weekend don't be surprised if they don't get on the blog until Monday as we have our son and family visiting for the weekend. They are taking us out tomorrow for Tony's birthday.

Our son arrived up at about 11.30 a.m. We went to visit Phil, who had his eyes open and looked at us and tried to talk to us sometimes, for almost an hour. We then went back to Papakura for lunch and a spot of shopping for son. When we got back home he cut down some trees and cut them up for firewood and stacked them in the basement to dry for next winter.
Tomorrow he wants to go over to the valley to check out the daffodils. He will also do one or 2 small jobs here before he goes home after lunch.

Huia, I love the photo of you on your wedding day, how old were you then love.? What a lovely surprise for you and your son, to find Phil awake, and alert. It sounds like you will have loads of wood for the winter, that should keep you nice and warm.
Ann, if you check out the friendlies thread you will see the news about Jeniwren. It's not great I'm afraid, bless her Jean has a lot to face.
Not a lot of news at the moment to impart to you, but I thought I had better pop on and say hello to you all. I hope everyone is o.k, and getting over any problems they may have had. Take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

Huia, I loved my mums treadle sewing machine. It was in my bedroom at home, and I spent many an hour on it, making skirts and dresses. They never lasted long, as I was not a great needle woman, but at least I tried, and they lasted for the occasion that I had made them for, but ended up in the dustbin afterwards. lol Now knitting was a different thing altogether,I could knit so many things, and my children never went without lovely knitted garments.
Tomorrow is Joyce and Liz's birthday, so I would like to take this opportunity to wish them both. ************************************************************************* A Happy Birthday Joyce and Liz. *************************************************************************
We have had alovely day here today, sunshine all the way. I am wondering where everyone has got to, I hope that you are all well. Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Mo, I still have mums treadle machine. It is still in working order, or was last time I opened it up and tried.
It was cold here last night and there has been snow forecast for the whole of NZ which is most unusual. There could be snow here in the Hunua hills, not a very common event. I did see some falling past our windows back in 1974 but it melted before it hit the ground. I will be wrapping up in multi layers of clothes to go out to the hospice shop today.

Happy Birthday to both Joyce and Liz for tomorrow. I hope that you will both have a great day.
Mo, it's been very quiet on here for a while now, I hope that everyone is OK.
We haven't heard from Marie for ages, maybe she's very busy with the family reunion.
I'm really busy making cards and I've been doing a few jobs that needed doing in the house. Alun is off for a few days so today both him and Michael have been putting some new fencing up between us and next door. We are going to take the house off the market, as we don't think we will sell it for at least a couple of years, the way things are in the country at the moment. It's been up for sale for 18 months and only had two couples view it. I know it's impossible, but it's a shame that we can't have a bungalow where our house stands..lol!!
Caz, I spoke to Joyce earlier on today and she told me that you have had a fall again. I hope that you are feeling a bit better now.
Have you managed to make some cards lately?
How is Phil now? I hope he's a lot better and that he is allowed to drive now.
Ann, I hope that Tony enjoyed his birthday and that you had a nice weekend with your son and his family.
Huia. also hope that you enjoyed the weekend visit from your son, and that he had a safe journey home.
Sylvia must be due home soon, and less I'm mistaken I'm sure she said that she is to have her biopsy on the 29th of the month.
Sylvia if you're looking in, I hope both you and OH enjoyed your holiday and that all will go well with your biopsy. Thinking about you.
Jean, I'm still waiting for Alun to e-mail the photos of my cards to Ann.lol!!
Hope Jeff is regaining his strength day by day, please give my best wishes.
Well ladies I'll speak to all tomorrow . Take care everyone.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi Marie,
Lovely to hear from you and to know that you and your family are all well.
It certainly sounds as though you've been working hard on your Family Tree ready for the family reunion. Good luck with gettting it all done in time.
Congratulations and Best Wishes to Joyce and Jan on their Wedding Anniversary. I hope that you will both have a lovely day.
Joyce, hope that all will go well at the lung clinic today.....a shame that it's the same day as your Anniversary. Good luck, I'll be thinking about you.
Hope everyone else is OK. Speak to you all soon.

Good evening girls. I was hoping there would be some news on how Joyce got on today at the lung clinic. But hopefully, no news is good news. Hopefully both Joyce and Jan have had a good anniversary.
Cooe Marie, it's good to hear from you. My word it sounds like you have been run off your feet, with all this arranging for the family reunion. I hope they all appreciate how much work you have put into this event for them. Sorry to hear that your weather has not been very kind to you lately. The weather here is up and down at the moment. Parts of the country have been enjoying lovely sunny days, but then others have had rain to put up with. We brits are never happy with whatever we get though.
Huia, did you get the snow that was forecast.? It's a good job your son got that wood chopped for you, at least you can stay nice and warm.
Sallie, I think you are right about Sylvia having to get her biopsy results on the 29th. I hope and pray it will be o.k for her. What a shame about the house sale not going to plan. I would have been tempted to put it in another estate agents hands. It's unbelieveable that you only had two viewings, in all that time. The agents don't seem to have done a very good job at pushing viewings for you.
No news from Jean, so I hope that things are progressing with them both.
Ann where have you got to lately. I hope you and T are both well.
Best wishes to Caz, Tess, Betty Liz and Betty and any friends I may have missed. Liz has no internet connection at the moment, and is probably very annoyed about it, as this site is such a lifeline to us all.
Bye for now everyone, take care. Love Mo xxx

Mo Joyce rang me at teatime, her visit to the hospital went ok, her lungs are clear but they wonder why she has a constant cough, I think it's a hangover from her pneumonia. She'll explain it herself later I expect. They had a lovely day with lots of cards but I don't think they did anything special. As mentioned above I had a fall the other day which knocked me back a bit, hurt my back and ankle, but if I'm not falling I'm bumping into things, maybe I'm just gormless, lol.
Love Caz xx

Mo, I didnt see any snow. If there was any it would have been up higher than I am, and it would have melted quickly in the sunshine.
I think I have learnt how to cope with the phone and my hearing aids. I wasnt holding the receiver in the right place. I now have to practice getting it right, although there are some people who are just impossible to hear as they speak so very quietly.

Hi all, I am here. I w as so tired yesterday I hardly came on here at all. Once the family had gone I had to get all the bedrooms back to normal. Still got a duvet cover and the bedding off son and DiL's bed to wash. Mostly done now though. We took a day off today and went to Webbs garden centre at Wychebold. Had a lovely day as it was warm and sunny. Besides the garden centre there is a large Hobbycraft which ate my money!! Then Webbs also have a sensory garden outside the garden centre but in their grounds, it is lovely to walk round there or sit on a seat for a while in the sun. We took our camera's to take photos of the flowers. After that we went to a Harvester for lunch. So it was a lovely day.
Yes thanks Tony enjoyed his birthday with the family, the children brought him a cake so he had to blow out the candles, then we went for a chinese meal. Sunday we went to a food fair at Gloucester docks and then round the outlet shops. After that we visited Gloucester Local which is an arts and craft centre. Then I cooked roast chicken for dinner. Tey left Monday morning.
