I don't feel so bad now Ann, thanks for that £150 odd pounds doesn't sound quite so expensive now.
Our Ford Focus is now nearly six years old, but we wouldn't change the model, perhaps just get a newer one when we can afford it.
It's big enough for us two, and the boot is big enough for all our junk when we do go away.

Just a quick update to say thanks to you all for your kind thoughts about my Mum and Dad.
Dad is now over the moon as Mum came home this afternoon and hopefully he can look after her OK while still recovering himself.
Won't be online until Monday so wishing you all a lovely weekend

Jean I will contact you after the weekend Thanks for your kind offer. I hope you continue to get better too. The tablets do seem to be working and I have a months supply so hope it will have eased by then

Hi all
xxx

We had several heavy periods of rain this morning, now the sun is trying to shine!

Linda ...... so glad to hear both your parents are now home.

Jean .... hope the assessment goes well, and Jef is home soon.

Sallie ..... how is Jennie doing?

Marie ................ Rockhampton, eh?

When we were coming back on the train after Christmas, there was an Australian couple on holiday from "Rockie", as they called it. That was when there was all the flooding there ..... they knew they would not be able to get to Rockingham, and had absolutely no idea what state their house would be in. Poor guys were in quite a state.

Hope everyone is well, and having fun!

Hi Girls,

It's very quiet on here. I'm wondering if everyone's gone away for the weekend. Although it's quiet on all the other threads too.

Sylvia, Jennie is a lot better now, thank you. She still looks a bit pale, but looks much better than she did and at least she is eating a bit more. So onward and upward.!!

Hope all your family are alright, I am sure you are looking forward to seeing them all in a couple of weeks time, especially MJ. You'll certainly see a big difference in him since you last time seen him at Christmas time.

Jean, I hope all is still going well for Jeff and that he will be home soon.
Also hope that both you and Debra are alright. Thinking about you all.

Linda, hope that your dad is coping OK with your mum home. Sending positive to you all.

Caz, how are both you and Phil? I hope that you are both feeling better than you've been and managing to cope alright. Thinking about both of you and sending lots of positive thoughts, too.

Mo, I hope that you are feeling better, I've missed seeing you on here for a couple if days, so hope all is okay with you.

~~~~~~Huia, Marie, Joyce, Tess, Betty, Jude and Liz. Hope that all is well with all. of you. Take care!
Richard and Christie are coming up to stay tomorrow until Wednesday,
Alun also has a few days holiday from work, so might not be on here for a few days.
Take care everyone.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
Hello folks.
Sallie, I am fine apart from the cough, it's driving me nuts.
Tomorrow is our Lilly's christening, up in Scotland. I do so wish we had been able to go, but it's just sooo far from here.
I just hope they take plenty of photo's for us to see.
How nice for you to have Richard and Christie coming for a few days. It will be special if Jennie feels up to a family get together.
Thank goodness Jennie is feeling better now than she was.
My grandaughters boyfriend is back in hospital again. They are now saying they may have to remove part of his bowel, bless him, he has been in so much pain.
Sylvia, please keep the rain over there, we have had enough of it ourselves.
At least the sun was shining today, even though it was not very warm.
For goodness sake we are supposed to be having our summer now.
It would be so nice to wear some summer clothes for a change. I am still wrapping myself up as if it were winter.
Linda, I hope that dad is managing to cope with mum being home.
Jean how did the assessment go?
I hope that Ann, Marie, Tess, Caz, Joyce and Betty are o.k
Love to you all. Mo xxx
Hi Mo,
I'm sorry to hear about your granddaughter's boyfriend. Crohn's disease is horrible it's very painful and embarrassing. Jennie can't have part of her colon removed because of where the Crohn's is situated. The Consultant told her that if it got too bad, they would have to remove all the colon and she would have to have a bag for the rest of her life. So I hope and pray that, that doesn't happen.
It's a shame that Lilly is being christened up in Scotland, a lovely country, but as you say, too far for you all to travel there.
Is her mum and family all from there? That's the trouble when both sides of a couples family live on opposite ends of the UK. Still as you say I'm sure they'll take plenty of photos.
I hope your cough will soon get better.....some of these coughs seem to go on for weeks and weeks.
I alawys read the Friendly thread but don't post. I'm sorry to hear that Jean
is having to undergo more treatment. I hope that all will turn out well for her and that she will make a good and complete recovery.
Love, Sallie.xxx
OK Sallie. I won't take offence at not getting a mention from you Lol!!! Only joking of course.
Sorry about your granddaughter's boyfriend Mo, I know how painful Chrones can be.
For those who have the address of the photo blog I have just put on a photo of Joyce with her flowers.
Hello all.
I wasnt able to come on earlier as I was showing a man around the property. I had rung him to tell him that one or more of his cattle might be on the road. I had heard a bump as I was dozing off last night, about 11 p.m. but didnt get up to investigate. This morning the lawn was a right proper mess, full of holes where the animal had been. It is so soggy at present. He did find one of the animals walking down the road but the others were still where they should be. He is moving them to another paddock so they wont break through onto our property again. I just hope he will strengthen the fence. Phil and I have repaired it so many times it is not funny. I am certainly not going to repair it myself.
Must get going, it is a lovely sunny morning so I am doing a bit of washing.
Huia.
Hi all
xxx
It poured with rain this morning, really beating down on the skylight in the bedroom!
I went downtown to do some shopping (some big sales on :-D) .... and came home in sunlight ............ I felt rather stupid (and warm!) in my waterproof jacket!!
Tomorrow (Sunday) is J&M's 12th wedding anniversary. I've had to send them an email card as we have postal strike / lockout here, and no mail is moving at all.
They should be back at work some time next week though .... parliament has just passed back-to-work legislation, it goes next to the Senate (somewhat equivalent to House of Lords), and then it will become law.
Take care everyone
Hi everyone, tis I...well the assessment went very well there will be a fewbits and pieces to be added to help Jeff when he comes home, such has two zimmer frames one upstairs and one down stairs, his chair is beinr raised to see if he can manage to stand up o.k. stools and a chair for the shower and to sit at the washbasin to help wash and shave....
we have already had a second bannister on the stairs, and he will have a grab rail in the shower, some other aids but after visiting last night and seeing him stand up solid as a rock, I dont think it will be long before he will be become quite independent...He is still weak and will be for some time but once he is home they reckon it will make a huge difference to his wellbeing so, my friends it looks quite close to his homecoming...its six weeks tomorrow that he went into hospital ,its flown by....I think you are up to date now, we are so grateful for your love and support, thank you all.
Sallie Report 26 Jun 2011 14:20
HI Girls,
Jean, like Ann I too added to the other thread about Jeff. I'm so pleased to have the good news.
Ann, sorry I forgot to mention you. lol!!! As you know I didn't mean to.
I managed to make two cards on Thursday, someone asked if I could make them for her to give to two members of her family......I'm glad that she did, as it has started me wanting to make them again. I think worrying about Jennie over the last few weeks I had lost some enthusiasm and confidence. Although I won't be able to make any until Richard and Christie goes home on Wednesday evening, but that doesn't matter.
I looked at your photos of the Lake District last night, as usual, they are brilliant.
I would like to look at Huia's photo blog, but can't find how to get onto it.
Huia, I hope that your lawn can be sorted out for you, it's so annoying when animals can get out of the field they are in and ruin peoples gardens that they have spent a lot of time and money on.
Sylvia, I read in one of the papers here that there's a postal strike in Canada.
At least you were able to send J&M an email card. Please wish them a Happy Anniversary from me.
I had to smile when you were telling us about having your waterproof coat on. It's just the kind of thing that I do....trouble is the weather is so unpredictable considering it's summer for us, it's difficult to know what to wear when we go out.
Waiting for Ricahard and Christie to arrive now, so will speak to you all in the middle of the week. Take care everyone.
Love and best wishes to all our friends on here. Sallie.xxx
Hi all
xxx
it's been a lovely sunny day today, and pleasantly warm.
Just the kind of weather I like!
Sallie ............ Vancouver often reminds me very much of England! Especially the unpredictable weather :-D
Parliament has passed the legislation forcing the posties back to work ................ it now has to go through the Upper House (Senate), but they should be back to work on Tuesday or Wednesday.
There are huge fines if they disobey, so I don't think there will be any disobedience ..................
$1000 (ca £400-450) a day for an individual, and $100,000 (ca. £40,000-45,000) for the union
Take care
