Mo in Kent Report 4 Jun 2011 22:55

Welcome Betty, it's so nice to hear from you. Please come back and speak to us all again, as you can see, we are a friendly bunch of ladies, and love to keep up with each others news,and support each other whenever the need arises.
Jean,Joyce, Caz and Liz are very dear to us all.
The news we have had about Jeff,has cheered me up no-end. My prayers for both Jean and Jeff continue as strongly as ever.

Caz, I am pleased that I no longer need to have the mammograms done. It comes to something when they tell you, you are past the age for having them done, there was me still feeling like a spring chicken till they told me that. Still mentally 21 dont you know, age and bodily, ahem, a lot older.

Marie, I would love to be able to go to Zumba classes, but I'm afraid I would be cream crackered before the first dance had finished. Am I right in thinking it's excercise and dance combined.
They were advertising a D.V.D on our t.v for it, and would love to buy it, and give it a go, but don't think I would like to make a fool of myself doing it in front of others, in case I flaked out on the floor whilst doing it. Puff puff, see i'm exhausted thinking about it.

Ann, Huia and Caz are not the only ones who wouldn't know how to add to a blog, this site and facebook are about all I can manage. And the only reason I am on facebook is because my grandaughter did it for me. I wouldn't have had a clue otherwise.

Caz, how come you are getting such high temperatures, it's been quite chilly here for days now. I'll send some breeze up to you, if you send some warmth down to me. ;-)

Sallie, I am very much like you, I don't like to sit out in the suns rays for to long. It was different years ago, when I did field work, I had to be out in it then. But as I have got older, I have become more aware of the problems it causes.
I hate it when I hear youngsters say they are going on the sunbeds, to get a tan before their holidays. They dont realise what damage they are doing to themslves.

Joyce honey, I hope you are feeling a little better now. You must take care of yourself, and stop injuring yourself so often. I don't know what we are going to do with you, I really don't.

Well my friends I am of to my bed now, so I will say goodnight god bless you all. Love to you all, Mo xxx

Followed someones advice on another (Spanish Eyes) Thread. and clicked on the arrow at the top of the page. This reverses the order of the pages on the thread, so it took me to the last (this) page.
So have been able to read what is going on.

I remember being worried about my first mammogram, at the time my balance was terrible, I tended to stagger when walking, or sway when still. Just couldn't control it.
Was worried that I would move too much for the mammogram to work.
That is till I got clamped! No chance of any movement then! I had't stood so still for months.

I am still having trouble getting on the boards here, it has been driving me mad. GR say it is all my fault (well they would wouldn't they)

A quietish day today. But have done some ironing. haven't put it all away yet though.
Will be looking at the blogs in the next few days.
Have been working on my family tree. Found a few more details of the 1911 Census on Ancestry.

Having my eyes tested on Monday, I am rather short sighted and have an outward squint in both eyes.

Might do a little bit of work in the garden tomorrow, but don't want to overdo things.

Very hot on Friday and warm today.

Hi Ladies,

I'm very late looking in tonight....Alun and I have been over to keep Jennie company this evening because Michael has gone to a party that they were both invited to,but Jennie couldn't go as she hasn't been too good over the last few days....the usual problem again.

Betty, welcome to Mo's thread, it's nice to have you join us. All the ladies on here are lovely, always ready with their support and help whenever it's needed. Pleased that our help and support helped to cheer you up and made you feel better.

Mo, I think someone must have sent some of your cooler weather up to Derbyshire, as it's much cooler here today than it's been for a few days....in fact we also have some light rain tonight, You are clever going on Facebook, I haven't a clue how to do that.lol!!!

Caz, it's just typical that the weather has got a good bit cooler now that you have bought the air-conditioning unit. Never mind, I'm sure we'll have some more hot weather soon so that you can use it. I hope so anyway.

Jean, hope Jeff's condition is continuing to improve. Still sending love and positive thoughts to you all.

Joyce, I hope that your problem with GR will soon be sorted and that you will be back on here very soon. If you are looking in, I hope you are feeling a bit better after your fall today. Rest and take care!

~~~~~~to Sylvia, Ann, Tess, Marie and Huia. I'll speak to you tomorrow.
Hello to Liz, Jude and Linda if you are looking in.
Well ladies, I'll say goodnight to you all, as I'm ready for bed now.
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
Hi Everyone
Haven't been on much for a few days as I have had a few dizzy spells. Been to the Dr and diagnosed Labyrinthitis and have tablets to take which are supposed to equal out your balance(like in travel sickness) well they seem to be helping, though I still feel a little spaced out?
Have a lovely Sunday everyone and so pleased that Jeff is improving each day
Mo we live in a sheltered housing building, a block of flats with carpeted corridors all round, it is so well insulated in the roof space and we live on the top floor. The old ladies will insist on putting the radiators on and closing all the windows in the corridors, it makes it much too uncomfortable. Carol the warden went round opening all the windows as wide as she could thinking they wouldn't be able to reach them to close them, but they did.
Sallie we haven't got it working yet but it will be soon and it will get well used believe me, it is 78 already in our room although it is cooler outside. It was drizzling this morning with a bit of a breeze but the sun has come out now and it feels warmer, the leaves on the trees are turning over so it will be raining again soon, as long as it stays cool I don't care.
AnninGlos Report 5 Jun 2011 15:01
Caz, that must be putting the heating cost up a lot, is it shared equally for the building? can't the old ladies (who are probably my age Lol!!! be told that theyw ill have to pay more in fuel costs if they turn the radiators on in summer?
YorkshireCaz
YorkshireCaz Report 5 Jun 2011 18:17
Ann the ladies have been told time and time again but they still do it, the men don't bother, just head on to their flats as we do except we pass three radiators from the lift to our door and every time we have to turn them off. The electricity for corridor heating is in with our monthly rent but will go up if it goes on. It makes me wonder how hot their own flats are, we don't even have central heating on in winter it is so warm, but they are on our own bills.
Caz x
Edited to say I forgot to say welcome Betty/Lily, it is lovely to see you on here again, hope you stay with us this time.
AnninGlos Report 5 Jun 2011 21:30
Pity the rads can't be turned off so hard that the ladies acn't turn them on.
****************************************************************************
A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR JEAN FOR TOMORROW.
****************************************************************************
****************************************************************************
LOVE AND BEST WISHES FROM MO+ROLY.
Caz, do you have a warden/manager in your charge of your sheltered accomodation.
When my mum was alive,the place she lived in had a warden, and she turned the hall and corridors heating of during the summer months.
The residents could still have the heating on in their flats, if they wanted to, but it did help to cool the place down a little.
I'm surprised that the council have not complained about the amount of the electricity used, even though it gets paid via the rents.
It will be lovely to get your airconditioning unit working, but it does seem unfair that you will have to pay for the use of it, whilst the others are upping the amount of electric being used, basically at your expense.
In other words what I am trying to say, is that if the others wern't so inconsiderate, you would not have needed to buy the unit in the first place.
No offence is meant by what I have just said love.
Linda I hope you are feeling better today. As the saying goes, "keep taking the tablets"
Hows the dress you are knitting coming along now.?
Huia, what a shame Phil was unresponsive when you visited him. But thank the lord he does respond at times, and I know how that cheers you up.
Have the dreaded rats gone for good now love. I do hope so, as they have been the bane of your life for long enough now.
I hope that Betty will pop in and see us again soon, it's so nice when we have new friends to talk to.
Sallie, how has your day been. Have you had Jennie and Michael over for dinner today.
I hope that Jennie is better today. It's such a pity when she has these setbacks, she was going along quite nicely for some time wasn't she, and then the flare ups started again, bless her it's just not fair is it.
~~~~~~~~~~to Ann,Sylvia, Tess, Marie, Joyce, Liz when she looks in, and all our friends who I may have forgotten to add.

Good night god bless one and all. Love Mo xxx <3

Huia Report 6 Jun 2011 01:18

Mo, there are still rats, but they are not coming into the living part of the house. There might be some in the ceiling, and there have been some downstairs in the workshop. I did catch a big one in a trap down there, and there had been another caught down there, which son discovered and disposed of. They have also eaten a small bit of the poison I put down there for them. I doubt if we will ever be completely free of rats, living in the country.

Hi Girls,

First of all,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEAN.

Love and Best Wishes from Sallie and Alun.xxx

________________

Sylvia, Jennie didn't start to walk until she was 15 months old, because she crawled she could get to where she wanted to go a lot quicker---- she also had tantrums a few times every day, each one lasting an hour at a time. If it wasn't for my very good friend Janet, I don't know how I would have coped during the day while Alun was at work.
She wasn't naughty as such, she just liked to do things herself, but of course as you know there are things that toddlers and older children aren't allowed to do.

Sending MJ lots of ((((((hugs)))))) and kisses.xxxxxxx

Caz, I cant get over the ladies in the flats near you, they really sound selfish, thinking only of what they want themselves and never mind the other residents. If they felt that cold they should go and put the heating on in their own flats, I kow it would still be quite warm for you, but at least they would be paying for the heat they use, themselves.

Is there a community room in the block that the residents can use? If there is, they probably think that it's their right to put the radiators on so they can sit and chatter without having to pay the heating bill. They would soon start shouting if their rent is put up.

Hope your air-conditioning will make things a lot more comfortable for you, it's just unfair that your electricity bill will be higher.

Mo, yes Jennie and Michael came for their Sunday dinner as usual, but Jennie wasn't feeling too good and hardly ate anything at all. It really upsets both me and Alun to see her like that and not be able to do anything for her. I just feel so angry and wish I could have it instead of her.....as any caring parent would.

Have you got a darts match tonight? If so, I hope your team will win. Good Luck!

Joyce, if you are back on GR and looking in, I hope you are feeling a bit better after your fall. A fall like that really shakes you up, so take care and
have plenty of rest. I'll be in touch with you very soon.

Ann, I read your post on Georges, East Midlands Airport thread. The airport is about 8 miles away from where we live. I think it's in Leicestershire near the M1 Jct 24/24A and also on the borders of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. When we are travelling south we use Jct 25. Just thought I'd give you an idea of where it is.

Huia, I think that you are probably right about never getting rid of rats completely with living in the country. At least now, you haven't got them in the inside living area, thank goodness.

Sorry to hear that Phil wasn't very responsive when you last visited him. Hope he will be, next time you visit him.

Linda, sorry to hear that you haven't been very well, but hope that you will feel better once the tablets start to work.

Betty, if you are looking in I hope you are alright. It was nice hearing from you...it will also be nice to hear from you again.

Jean, I hope you'll have more good news about Jeff when you visit him today. Sending you, Jeff, D and S love and prayers.

Marie, hope all is well with you and your family.Take care!

Tess, hope all goes well with your eye test. I need to go to the opticians myself, it's just the price of glasses that puts me off going.

~~~~~~~ to Jude and Liz, hope you are both alright.
Sorry if I've missed any of our friends out....my memory isn't as good as it use to be.lol!!
Well girls, I have to go out now, so will speak to you all later on today.
Take care everyone.
Huia Report 6 Jun 2011 21:56
Good evening girls. I am going out again today, so cant spend long on here.
Yesterday started off with heavy fog here but when it lifted at 10.30 I drove over to the valley and took a walk up and across the water supply dam. There wasnt any breeze so the water was like glass, with wonderful reflections. I took quite a few photos but havent downloaded them to the computer yet.
This morning when I weighed myself I found I had lost the 500 gms that I put on 3 days ago, so I must go for more of those walks. :-)
AnninGlos
AnninGlos Report 6 Jun 2011 22:15
Sallie, thanks for the geography lesson, very useful, it is one airport that I am never sure where it is. Sorry to hear that Jennie is not so good, hope this flare up eases soon for her as it must make her miserable.
I was astonished this week when I had an e mail from a friend. her daughter who is about 46 has had Chrones disease for many years, she is very thin and looks as if a puff of wind would blow her over, she is often very poorly with it. But I was amazed to read that she has completed three half marathons and a full marathon in the past few months and is training for the London Marathon next year. The latest one she ran was the Edinburgh and she beat her policeman husband by three minutes.
Sylvia, babies walk when they are ready don't they. My daughter was crawling at just over 6 months so didn't walk until 15 months, son didn't crawl so early and walked at about the same time.
Huia, well done for losing that bit of weight, nice to get out for a walk. I walked to fetch the papers the long way round today but it is just through housing estates so not worth taking a camera unfortunately.
Hi all
xxx
another lovely sunny day here
MJ has only just started crawling, about 2 weeks ago! No-one pandered to him ................ he'd look at something that was just out of reach, then sort of sigh and find something else that he could reach! Quite funny to see him do that. So he really has only just started exploring his environments (home and at the carer's).
We go there on July 9 ..... so it will be interesting to see his development.
Take care everyone
