Sallie, I noticed some reflection on your cards and I wonder if flash was used. It is best if you can take them in natural light. Some of them I was able to adjust so the photo was better, one was very dark so I lightened it. All mine are taken indoors with a digital camera but not using flash.

Sallie Report 9 May 2011 22:41

Thanks Ann. I think we need to find somewhere different in the house to take the photos. Alun didn't use a flash at all, so it must be where we put them to take the photos. I'm wondering if it might be better to put something non-reflective under them....we'll have to try different places to take them.and see which comes out the best.

Jean, your cards are really lovely. I noticed that you had put some of your card on and against white paper to take the photos of them. As you probably know , Alun and I aren't the best photographers. I'm sure our Chloe, who is eight could do better.lol!!

Pleased to hear that both J and D are well. I'm sure they must be relieved with the results of your scan.

Well, I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care!

Love, Sallie.xxx

Huia Report 9 May 2011 22:59

Sallie, the problem I had last night wasnt with this site, it was with my ISP, I just couldnt get onto the internet at all, but I spent the time going through some of the photos I have on the computer and eliminating some which were duplicates, or out of focus, or not very interesting, as my external hard drive is refusing to back up any more and I suspect it is full.

I had another good sleep last night, sans pill, and this morning I find I have lost 1.3 kg since yesterday morning. Whoopee. Now I just have to keep it off. And lose more if I can.

The finger feels ok, but if I touch my hand where the needle went in it feels a bit sore. I gather I am supposed to rest the finger for a while, but I am not a one finger typist. That is much too slow. At least I dont have to thump the keys as I did with my old fashioned typewriter. It wouldnt move on a space if I tapped the key too lightly.

Huia.

Just a quick hello to you all, so sorry I haven't been good with communicating lately, so much going on here but will try hard to do an update for you all very soon.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Marie, if I don't see a thread to post on this evening, and love and hugs to all. Jean, I will try and send you a pm soon. Have been thinking about you all and get the odd update when I speak with Joyce/Dutch.

Sylvia, what are these eyars that you have lost?

Liz, lovely to see you on here.

Marie, what sort of computer do you have? Surely you must have a refresh button. Even my old computer has one. Look, I am pointing at it. It is next to the thing where it says http:// etc and is followed by a red X.

When I get that error message I just hit the back arrow anyway, and if it is when I have tried to put a new avatar on it goes back to that page. I then just go to the community boards page and lo and behold my new avatar is there. I cant say I understand it all, but it seems to work somehow.

Good afternoon ladies,

Lovely to see you Marie and glad that you are feeling better. Hope you will continue "on the way up ", and will soon feel like your normal self again.

Wishing you a Happy Birthday for tomorrow and hope you'll have a lovely day.

Huia, sorry I misunderstood you about the site. Like me, I thought you were having a problem with GR too.

Pleased to hear that you are still managing to get a good nights sleep, without having to take the tablets.

Sylvia, the church looks lovely. Is it near to where you lived while you were growing up?

Liz, lovely to see you on here again. I hope you are feeling alright and not having too many problems.
Hope all is well with your son.

Caz, hope you are having a better day, today. It's always nice to see you on here.
I wonder if Joyce is having any luck with sorting her computer out.

Ann, I think some of the photos of the cards I sent you, didn't all get there.
I know Alun sent more than is on your blog, so when he gets home we'll
hopefully sort it out.

Going to have some lunch now, so I'll speak to you all later.

Good evening everyone.
My word there was so much to catch up with news wise on here.

*********************************************************************************
*********************************************************************************
A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR MARIE IN OZ,have a lovely day honey.
********************************************************************************
********************************************************************************
I have put this up now girls, because by the time Marie reads it, it will be her birthday, because of the time difference.
Poor Marie, you are another one who has been through the mill lately.
I hate getting cold sores, they always feel twice the size that they really are.
There are times when I get them before I get a cold, but then when the cold breaks, it's normally a stinker.

Update on baby Gracie-Mai. Grandaughter was not allowed home yesterday, as she kept fainting after having baby.
My daughter was allowed to visit for a few minutes, but grandaughter has left instructions that she doesn't want any visitors yet, as she is to tired.
Even her sister has not been allowed in to see her.
So now we are waiting for an invitation, oops thats me being sarcastic.
I have sent her txt's to congratulate her, but had no response. Oh well, time will tell if I can keep my trap shut or not, as I think she has treated her mum abysmally (sp)

I was sweating buckets earlier in the garden. I have now finished planting
all my summer bedding plants.
I didn't realise it was as hot outside as it was, and had to keep popping indoors for cold drinks.
The garden is now looking great, so I can now sit back and enjoy it.

I hope that everyone is o.k.
Take care my friends. Love Mo xxx

Hi all

cloudy today

....... and some parts of Canada are having massive flooding problems. This is not in BC, so don't get worried for me!! But parts of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Quebec have floods that are higher that any EVER known before. The army has been called in to help in Manitoba and Quebec.

Bruera Church was OH's family church. I didn't like my own parish church, nor the vicar, so we got married at his church.

It is unusual in that it is surrounded by an almost complete circle of Yew tree, which are supposed to ward off evil.

OH's parents are buried in the "new" graveyard, outside the circle of Yews.

Mo ..... I hope you get to see Gracie-Mai soon xxx

Oh my word Sylvia, what is happening to our world, weather wise. Floods in Canada and OZ, Earthquakes and tornado's in NZ, what have we done to our planet us humans.

Your photo of your marital church, reminds me very much of the church that Roly's grandfather was a verger of . We had our eldest daughter baptised there.
They ruined the church graveyard, by making it into a grass area, for people to sit. They chopped down the beautiful trees, but left the tombstones, but the solitude is now lost with youngsters playing in what should remain a sacred place.
When I was young, I had a fear of walking through a cemetary. I think I always expected to see a ghost, walking in the grounds. Oh how the mind of a child goes into overdrive.

Jean honey, are you sure it's Huia who's got a trigger finger, only your last post has appeared twice.
I know you want Marie to hear you, but you dont have to shout that loud.<3<3<3 LOL

Sallie Report 10 May 2011 21:45

Mo, it's frightening to see the extreme weather in many parts of the world.

Do you know if your granddaughter will be able to go home tomorrow.

I can't understand her not wanting any visitors, you would think that she would want family and friends to see the baby, especially as she's her first baby. I couldn't wait to show Richard to everyone, and then again with Jennie three years later.....I'm sure that all our friends on here felt the same way when their children were born.

Sylvia, I hope that the floods insome parts in Canada won't get any worse that they are now and that there won't be any loss of life.

I like the story or legend about the yews surrounding the church that you got married in.

Hi Sallie,
My daughter phoned a little while ago, grandaughter is now at home.
I had to wait till we came back to the U.K to show my eldest daughter to our families, but sent loads of pictures.
With my other four, my family were the first to see them, even over and above friends.
When our grandaughter was born, we were the first ones to see her, just moments after she was born, those first few cuddles make a big difference to the bonding process with a child.
I can't understand her attitude either to be honest with you.

Well love I am away to my bed soon, so I will say goodnight god bless you.
Love to you both. Mo xxx

Huia, I am loving your new avatar, you have so many to chose from, whereas me, I am staying as I am as I don't want to mess everything up again.

It's very quiet on here, where has everyone got to tonight.

I hope Marie has been able to enjoy her birthday, and been feeling better today.

I managed to speak to my grandaughter today. She had been down town shopping today, shock horror.
When I said to her that she shouldn't be out this quickly, she was amazed.
When she saw the midwife today she never said that she couldn't go out so away she went.
I had to explain to her why she should take it easy for a few days, especially as she had the fainting fits after giving birth.
It just amazes me how things have changed over the years.

Well girls, I hope to hear from you soon.
Take care of yourselves. Love Mo xxx

Hi all
xxx

The advice given to us when I was pregnant with J 37 years ago, was try to deter visitors from visiting on the first day or so, until you had recovered from the tiredness. Or even not to have too many visitors on the first day or 2 days back home

We only had limited visiting in hospitals then, and it was thought that trying to get everyone visiting during the 1 hour mid-afternoon and 1 hour in the evening was just too exhausting.

Of course, no-one prevented you from having lots of visitors, but no more than 2 at a time, if that is what you wanted.

And I know J was very glad to only have limited visitors after MJ was born ........... M's parents were in Florida and we were over here, so that wasn't a problem for either of us.

J said that the best visitor she had during the first 2 weeks or so was a close friend.

She walked in the house carrying home-made food, some to eat now, some to go in the fridge or freezer. She then walked into the kitchen where she washed up and did odd jobs that J&M had not managed to keep up with. And, she did all that without having been asked.

J said it really opened her eyes as to what she could for other new mums.

On the other hand, M's sister had a key to the house, went in with her 17 year old daughter before J and MJ came home, and decorated the hall and living room with balloon, signs etc ................ but they did not clear up the kitchen of all the dirty dishes that M had left in the sink.

First thing J did after she got home on Friday, was wash up dishes left from the Monday evening she went in (they'd had a snack while she was waiting until it was time to leave), and the 3 days she was in hospital when M was going home only to wash, eat a little and feed the cats.

THAT made me mad when I heard about it!

Take care everyone
