Sallie Report 10 Mar 2011 09:45

Morning All,

Just a quick look in before I go for a fitting for my hearing aid. It's a lovely dry and sunny day here, hope it's the same where you all are.

Sylvia, a belated Happy 1st Birthday to MJ. Bless him being poorly for his birthday, hope that he and J and M will soon be better.

Mo, I hope that both Caz and Joyce are alright too, as we haven't heard from them for a while.
I wonder if Joyce's grtgranddaughter had her kidney biopsy on Tuesday, and if everything went alright for her.

The doctor said he'd get in touch with me in soon, it seems I have a choice of hospitals I can go too, Derby, Nottingham or Ilkeston, I would prefer to go to either Nottingham or Ilkeston. The doctors practices in Ilkeston tend to use the Nottingham hospitals when they refer patients........we've always used the Nottingham ones, so prefer them.

Right, I'd better start to get ready to go out, so I'll speak to you all later.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Oh Sylvia poor little MJ, fancy getting a cold. I blame mum and dad, it can't be little mans fault, bless him.
They wont give him any ant-biotics unless it goes down onto his chest. It just means keeping his temperature down, but it's not fun having a runny nose on your birthday is it.

Sallie, how did it go with your hearing aid fitting. Do they give it to you straight away, or do you need to go back for further fittings.
There has not been any news about Joyces great grandaughter has there.
Unless Caz has put something on her thread and I have missed it.

I want to watch the new series thats starting tonight on ITV at 9p.m, it's called Monroe. James Nesbitt is one of it's stars, and I think he is a good actor.
Sorry to out overseas friends, they won't know what the heck I am talking about.
I just hope it's better than Marchlands, the programme that it's replacing.

Going to do our dinner now girls, speak to you soon. Love Mo xxx

Hello girls I am here, I've not been too good with my back, couldn't sit down properly it is so painful even laid down which used to ease it. Joyce hasn't said anything about Chloe, she tried to ring her granddaughter but her phone was switched off, I will be speaking to her on Saturday so will find out for you, unless she rings me tomorrow. Joyce herself is having trouble with cramp in her legs but it's all the time not just at night, otherwise she is OK.
Mo I'm looking foreward to that Monroe tonight, I like James Nesbitt, hope it's as good as it looks.

Love Caz xx

Hi Girls,

Well I've had my hearing aid, and it's great to be able hear properly again.

I thought that it was only to be a fitting today, so was surprised when I got the hearing aid ......I have to go back in about six weeks time, just to make sure that all is okay.

Caz lovely to hear from you, I just I wish I could wave a magic wand for you and Joyce to make you both well.

I hope your back pain will ease for you so that you are a bit more comfortable, at least.

Lets hope that all has gone well for Chloe, bless her......I'm sure that Joyce is worried sick, with her granddaughter's phone being switched off and not being able to find out how Chloe is.

Ann, just in case I miss you, hope you and T will have a good holiday, also
crossing my fingers that you'll have some good weather.

Alun is off next week, so we are going down to Richard's on Monday, as he's also on holiday from work next week .....it's his 29th birthday on Tuesday, so the four of us are going out for the day and then have a meal out in the evening.

At the end of the week, we are going to Wales to search some records at the Gwent Records Office.......I hope we'll find what we are looking for.lol!

Hope everyone else is alright, speak to you later.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Mo, I quite enjoyed Marchlands although felt it jumped around a bit too much, flash backs should be more spaced and longer not lots of short episodes.

Sally glad that you have your aids. Did you find it a bit loud at first? Lol!!! Enjoy your weekend in Wales. And your time with Richard.

Sylvia, poor little MJ colds make them so miserable don't they. Hope he gets better soo.

Caz, Happy birthday. I hope that your back will behave and the pain will ease for your birthday.

**************************************************
A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR CAZ.
**************************************************
I hope you have had a good day,to enable you to have enjoyed yourself.
What did you think of the new series of Monroe then Caz. I quite enjoyed it,
all i'm hoping is that it doesn't take a nose dive, and end up like Marchlands did.

As you said Ann, Marchlands was o.k, but getting used to all the different families at first was quite confusing, till you got into the plot.
Enjoy your holiday love.

Well Sallie, that was a surprise, getting your hearing aids so quickly.
Will you have internet connection down at Richards next week.
I hope so, or we will miss you.

We have been to see baby Lilly today. My word she's getting soooo big.
Considering she is only eight weeks old, she looks like a three month old.
I gave her, her bottle, and she fell asleep half way through it again. I am wondering if I bore her to sleep,by chatting away to her at feed times. lol
She then slept all the time we were out shopping in town.

I hope all our friends across the water remain safe, after the earth quake
earlier today.
I know on the news they said that OZ, NZ and a few other countries were on high alert following Japans quake.
Oh lord what is happening to our world, keep us all safe lord.

Take care my friends, speak to you later. Love Mo xxx

AnninGlos Report 11 Mar 2011 17:39

With Marchlands Mo, maybe I liked it better because I recorded it and watched the first two back to back, so I quickly got the hang of the plot. It was the sort of plot I enjoy too.

Hi all
xxx

There has possibly been a second unrelated earthquake in Japan, near Nagano. It might be an aftershock from the first one, but it is on a different fault line. I haven't heard how strong it was, possibly about 6

I've also heard on the radio that the coast of Japan has moved about eight FEET

The outer coast of BC is still under a Tsunami advisory.

Victoria and Vancouver are safe, becaaue we are protected by Vancouver Island, but from Alaska to the northern tip of Haida Gwaii (aka Queen Charlotte Islands) south along the outer coast of Vancouver and then down to California is still at risk

Granted, the waves seen so far have been negligible, but later waves can be larger than the first ones to arrive. This is why the original Tsunami warning was downgraded to an advisory, which will remain in effect for several more hours

The first waves to hit Hawaii were:- 3 metre waves hit Kauai, 1 m waves hit Honolulu washing up onto roadways but not reaching hotels, and 2 m waves in Maui. Larger waves could still arrive.

The first waves hit on the Orgeon coast about 90 minutes ago.

One danger not often noted is that the underwater currents become stronger, and more erratic ............... so there is a ban (as much as can be enforced!) on small boats going out to sea.

Oh my god Sylvia, this is such a disaster.
We have been following the devastation on our news. Watching houses fall into the water like they were matchsticks, the boats in the harbour tossed around like flottsom, cars being picked up and thrown around like they were childrens toys.
The earthquake in NZ,was bad enough, but this is terrible.
Stay safe Sylvia, Huia and Marie.

Hi Mo

don't worry, I'm safe, Vancouver is well out of danger from the tsunami

but the outer coast is still under the tsunami advisory

just heard the death toll is now around 1,000 ........... at least

There are 4 trains missing in the area hit by the tsunami. Hopefully, they have just lost contact with the control centre.

Yes Ann, it really upset me to watch the news, but I had to do so.
I wasn't even aware that it had happened till about 10.00a.m this morning.
Like everyone else in the world, I was so shocked.

I had not heard about the trains Sylvia. My god they would not have stood a chance if they were caught in the waves.

Hi girls Jean is not very well at the moment, she has vertigo as you know but it is getting worse and last night the room was spinning round all night, she never got any sleep. She is seeing a consultant on Wednesday so if we all send her our positive thoughts she will know we are thinking of her.
I was speaking to Dutch this morning and she said she still can't get in touch with her granddaughter to hear how little Chloe is, obviously she is worried and can do without this.

Mo in Kent Report 12 Mar 2011 16:56

Hello Caz.
Thanks for keeping us updated about Jean and Joyce.
I can't believe how badly this flamin vertigo has been for our Jean, bless her. She has had to put up with this for months on end now, without any relief from it. It must be driving the poor girl up the wall.
You are always in my thoughts Jean, but I am holding you closer to my heart than ever before now.
I hope and pray that the consultant can sort you out as soon as is possible
((((((((((((BIG GENTLE HUGS FOR OUR JEAN))))))))))))))

Why oh why, can't Joyce's family understand how much she worries about them, and keep her updated on whats going on.
I believe it's better to know, than to be kept in the dark. At least that way, you can accustomise yourself, and accept things for what they are.
We all know that our Joyce takes on others worries, she has such a big heart, and that is the way she is made, bless her cotton socks.

You look after yourself as well Caz, and try not to overdo things honey.

I am off to get some dinner now. Chinese tonight, yummy. Speak to you later. Love Mo xxx

YorkshireCaz

YorkshireCaz Report 12 Mar 2011 18:24

Yes Mo Jean is very bad with it and it is frightening her now, it must be awful for her, I'm hoping the consultant can do something on Wednesday. Joyce is being treated badly I think by her granddaughters, I know I shouldn't say that but her granddaughter knows how Joyce worries about her grandchildren, especially being out of the country. She must know Joyce wants to know how it went with Chloe so why keep her phone switched off, if it is to stop Joyce from worrying it's not working as she is whittling about it.
We are having chinese as well tonight, lovely.

Hi all
xxx

went to the Celebration of Life for the husband of a woman G that I used to work with from about 1983 to 1991.

He was 83 .............. and had had a very full life, especially for someone whose mother was told he wouldn't survive more than a few days!!

He weighed just over 2 lbs, and his twin died very soon after birth ............ but a combination of a determined grandmother and mother kept J alive!

Just before going to this, we got a phone call to tell us that one of my ex-bosses (and of G) had died on Thursday. HIS funeral will be next Friday.

Ex-boss's wife was at the Celebration this afternoon, and I had a long chat with her. B's death was not that unexpected ................. he was 3 months younger than me, but had lung problems and congestive heart failure.

OH ate something that disagreed with him for lunch ...... possibly some of the Cinnamon Honey that we found at the back of the kitchen cupboard last week. Age undetermined!

We had to leave the after-Celebration-of-Life tea early ........ he's been sick, and is now curled up in bed.

Sylvia, I do hope your OH is feeling a little better now.
How awful that the celebration's were spoilt by the sad news.
Sometimes I think that smaller babies, have more fight and determination, than bigger babies. And thank the lord that your old boss, was blessed with the strength, to live to quite a good age, considering his
struggle in early life.

I dont know about you girls, but I am having trouble, trying to come to terms with Japans problems.
It would appear that three of the nuclear power stations, are now showing problems.
How on earth is the country going to cope.
May god give them all the strength, to get through this time.

Well girls, all our decorating is now finished. We have done the lounge, dining room, and kitchen.
We thought we would be able to get some rest, but no, tomorrow we are starting our daughters hall, stairs and landings.
They had a loft conversion done a couple of years ago, so we have an extra floor to paint.
I suppose that will teach us to be so generous with our time.

Take care of yourselves, speak to you all again soon.
