Hello girls. I hope you have all had a good day. Roly has his cattaract removed on the 7th of July,Jean. I think he will be glad to get it over and a done with now. The trouble is,it means I will have to do the driving for two weeks, and as I have not really driven much, since Roly retired,I am a bit nervous about it. But I daresay I will get my confidence back. Ooooh Jean, strawberries. We had some english ones earlier in the week. Tes--'s were giving away cream with them, they were really yummy. If they are still on offer tommorrow,I think I will buy some more. We had strawberry cheesecake for after dinner today, but not as nice as the real thing. We never got to go to the armed forces show Sallie. Our son phoned us early saturday morning, and asked if we could look after his two children. He only has them every other weekend. He runs a pub,and one of his barstaff had rung in sick, meaning he had no one to care for the children,as he had to work. We love to see the children, but we were really looking forward to going. Still that's what grandparents are for, or is it I do wonder sometimes. I am glad, you enjoyed your brothers ordination. It must have been a long day for you both. We had a really bad thunderstorm last night, the lightening was very frightening ,flashing across the sky and lighting the whole house up. Well I am going to get myself a nice cup of rosy lee. Speak again soon. Take care of yourselves. Love to all. Mo xxx

Hi Everyone
I fine Sallie thanks for asking about me I have had my mum in law staying so we have been up chating at night so I havent been on line. Just read everyone posts and caught up on all the news.
The weather to day is really hot and tonight we had a shower but now it feels hotter. Had to get swimming pool out for little one and had to laugh when my eldest didnt watch where he was going and fell in (only his feet got wet).
Been out walking with my freind still trying to lose weight. Did 3lbs the first week but stayed the same this week. Not going to give up yet hopefully I will lose a few lbs over the next week.
Eldest has got a cricket match tomorrow, OH and youngest is going to watch but I have to work.
Glad everyone is alright , Marylin hope you have a great holiday with the grandchildren.
Speak soon Sue

Hello, all, we have just been doing some shopping and other errands, J says although he is feeling a bit tired , not as bad as a few days ago. he also has no trouble driving, the nurses are still calling but now only every other day, my legs are still painful or I should say the left one, I am sure its bad circulation, probably carrying to much weight, not so easy to get it off at my age although I am still trying !! this heat doesnt help either, I love sunshine , but the humidity just saps your strengh...... what I really need is a change of scenery, so as soon as we can we will be off somewhere.
Mo, I had completly forgot about Rolys date for his eye op, so glad its over and done, Two regrets in my life, one not learning how to swim, and not keeping up with my driving, had a little bump when I first passed, and never drove again , that was many years ago, so now gave up my licence, so you keep at it gir l!!
love and hugs to you all Jean xx

Good afternoon everyone. It's nice to hear from you again Sue,and I am glad you are well. We are still in the middle of the heatwave here. Yesterday was unbearably hot,so bad that I had to have a rest in the afternoon. And that's not like me. I hope you kept cool whilst out shopping Jean. It must make J feel better to be able to drive again, and get his independance back. You will both be able to nip of on holiday, very soon. There will be no holding you back now. Jean,Roly does not have his eye done till next week,on Thursday. Do you know what Jean,I learnt to swim when I was a child, but have not swum since about 1980, I am afraid now that if I got in a pool,I will sink to the bottom lol. From a beautiful sunny Kent,I will say cheerio for now. Take care all. Love and all the best to you all. Mo xxx

MOkent, we had a terrific thunderstorm a couple of nights ago. I think that is what fried the motherboard in my computer :((( but is fixed now :)))
sue2sue, weight loss is extremely difficult. You start off losing several pounds and then the body say 'whoa, there is a famine' and starts conserving every little scrap of stuff that goes in. I am speaking from experience. Men dont seem to have the same problem. It is probably for the survival of the community. If only one man survives a famine but 20 women survive the community can be rebuilt but if only 1 woman and 20 men then apart from the fact that it would be more difficult for that one woman to rebuild but you would probably have war as the men would fight to be 'the one'! Thats my theory anyway. I think I have seen it in print from a scientist.

Hi everyone, greetings from a very hot and muggy island. Even a huge thunderstorm last night hasn't really cleared the air. Anyway, better than constant rain or drizzle.
All well here. Busy as usual, though the weekend was not quite as hectic as sometimes. We bought a new pool last week as our old one had been patched up once too often. It is one of those above ground ones that you blow up the top rim and then it supports itself when you fill it with water. It is 12' diameter and 36"deep, so a good size for my 4 and all the friends who seem to appear regularly on the front door step:-))))
Daniel & Matthew had their school walk today - 14 miles of it. Daniel ran it last year so walked it today to spend time with his mates. They had a great time. Poor Matthew fell over on one of the gravel tracks and twisted his ankle so had to pull out. He was really disappointed as he was running well. He is ok though, just his pride that hurts.
I haven't walked this week so you fit people put me to shame. I don't own a set of scales, but know I need to lose weight when my clothes feel tight. Probably not the best way of measuring. Oh well............
Off to get a drink and have a read of the paper. The Island Games are on at the moment so there are a lot of reports and news to read there.
Hope you are all well. Thinking of you even if I don't post for a few days sometimes
Night night DEBBIE

Hi All,
Jean, it's great to see J up and about , and that he is now able to drive. I hope your left leg will soon feel better - as you say, this humid weather doesn't help. I can't swim either Jean, I was always frightened of putting my face in the water.
Mo, I hope you are feeling okay. Is it the 9th that Roly has his eye op. Have you got an appointment somewhere tomorrow? I'm sure you said something about 2nd July - or I might have got it wrong.
Sue, nice to hear from you, and to know that all is well with you and your family.
I have had flu symptoms since Sunday evening, so rung the doctor yesterday, and he told me to isolate myself for three to four days, if I get worse I was to call the number he gave me. He said it might be Swine Flu, (or Mexican Flu as he called it ) I don't think it is, because I am feeling better than I was. So I hope that I will be able to go out on Friday.
Hope everyone else is alright.
Speak to you all soon. Take care!
Sallie.

Oh crikey Sallie, you just take care of yourself. There are a lot's of cases of swine flu now isn't there. I hope and pray you continue to get well. Yes Sallie,Roly has his physio appointment tommorrow. And eye done on the 7th. We own scales Debbie, but I won't get on them,in case I get a big shock. I know that the nurse a the doctors, told me I had only put on a pound in five years, but I didnt dare ask her how much I actually weighed. I am pleased to hear that the family are well. The pool is a bonus in this weather ,and the children all love water don't they Debbie. Hi Huia,my mother board went a couple of months ago as well. But it was still under guarantee, thank god. But did I feel lost without it. We have taken out the insurance on it now,as the warranty has now run out. I hope you and your OH are well, and that you are managing to get some sleep. Has the decaff tea worked for him? It has come over really black here,so we may be in for some rain. Well I hope so,anyway. It has been really hot again today folks. I hope you are all well. ~~~~~~~~~~~to everyone. love Mo xxx

Coooooeeee anyone about. I hope everyone is well, and not wilting in the heat. I wish we would have a lovely storm,to clear the air a bit. A friend of mine, has had the sickness and trots, for three weeks. She had to do a sample, and we took her to see her doctor last Monday. We had to wait fifty minutes, before she got in to see the doctor. We sat in a stifling waiting room, with other patients, one of whom was a child. When my friend came out ,I asked her what the outcome was. Oh,said my friend, she told me I have got [ now get this ] C. DIFF. I nearly died of shock. How can a G.P allow a patient with this,to sit in a waiting room, with other patients, knowing how contageous it is. We came home, thoroughly washed ourselves, cleaned the inside of the car,and sat down shocked. I just hope to god, that we have not caught it. I phoned NHS direct, but they did not know much about it either. Love to you all Mo xxx

Just looking in, thought there might be someone about.
Mo, I hope your friend will be alright. Did the doctor give her any advice on what she should do? She's had it a good while, you would think the doctor would have been more concerned. I know that good hygene will stop it spreading, not sure how long it takes to go.
I'll have to go and do some shopping - not looking forward to that. As you said in your PM, Mo, it's so hot in places like Tesco's and Asda's, and with so many people, it makes me very tired.
Hope, all of you and your families have a lovely weekend.
Love, Sallie.

Hello to all
Well we have had a small storm and a bit of rain today, which has left it nice and cool this evening.
The sun should come out tomorrow as it is my wedding anniversary, never known it not to be a nice day and it has been 22 years since we wed. We are going out for the evening to a club where my OH bowls. Taking the boys with us so I am looking forward to the evening.
Out in the morning swiming with my youngest .
Mo hope you dont catch anything from the doctor waiting room. I hate going to the doctors as i always seem to sit near someone sneezing over me.
Sallie glad to hear you are getting a bit better. Hope your shopping trip was not to hot for you.
Marilyn sounds like you will need another holiday to get over the one you are on. Your grandchildren are lucky to have you to join in their fun,bet you love every minute. We spent a lot of holidays with my MIL and my children got her doing loads of things she wouldnt have done if she had gone away with just her OH. She was always tired at night but would be ready to start a fresh the next day. My children have a special bond with her.
Huia, Jean , Debbie hope you are all well.
Bye for now Sue

Hello one and all. Sallie,my friends doctor gave her no advice. I googled all the info ,to protect ourselves. And the NHS,sent the same info to one of my other friends. I spoke to the friend who has the C.DIFF,on the phone last night, and the silly moo,had been out to her local shop,to top her phone up. I was furious, and told her so.I asked her did she know just how contagious she is,and that she should NOT leave the house, till her doctor had given her the all clear. I felt so cruel in saying it to her, but, she must listen to what is being said, for others safety. Oh Marilyn, you lucky thing, sitting by a pool, and enjoying yourself. The chidren help you to feel young don't they. We all tend to forget our problems, when youngsters are around. Enjoy yourself my love, lifes to short not to. Sue,I hope you are enjoying your anniversary. And that you have a lovely meal. Oh I take it that you will be having a meal, forgive me if I am wrong. We also had a drop of rain, but not enough really,so will still have to water the plants. Cor Jean, you are getting as good as Huia, with your walks. The weight will soon be dropping off you. It's good to hear that J is enjoying his walks as well. Roly has just gone to collect our chinese meal, yummy I am really looking forward to it. No cooking for me tonight, that makes a change. I hope Debbie and Huia, that you are both well. Speak to you all again tommorrow. Love Mo xxx

Hi All, Mo, you would think that your friend would have stopped at home, especially since she's had it for three weeks, surely she knows how contagious it is. I can't understand why her doctor didn't tell her to stay at home away from other people. As you know, my doctor told me to isolate myself in case I had swine flu. Although, I couldn't go out because I felt too poorly. But whatever I had, I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to have it. Especially, someone with health problems already. You have to show some common sense, and consideration for others. First time out today, since last Saturday. Nothing exciting, just to Morrisons.
Marilyn, sounds as though you are having a lovely holiday. I bet you are really enjoying yourself with your grandchildren. You can have a nice rest when you get home - in the meantime, enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Sue, hope you have enjoyed your wedding anniversary. Did you enjoy your swim with your youngest, this morning?
Jean, did you and J enjoy your walk. Hope it was a bit cooler for you. Alun walks too fast for me, so have a job keeping pace with him. I prefer to go with my friend, as we walk at the same pace. Hope J is feeling much better now that he has been on the anti-biotics, quite a few days.
Debbie, did you all go to the Island games? Hope everyone is okay with you.
Marie, are you still going to the gym? I wish I had some of your energy.
Huia, hope you and hubby are getting along alright.
Well ladies, I think I've gone on long enough!
Speak to you all soon.
My best wishes to you all.
Sallie.
Mo, hope you and Roly enjoyed your Chinese Meal.

Hello all my friends, I havent been on for awhile as I have been very busy and our days are very short , the weather has been very wet and , freezing cold winds. We went to the football yesterday it was so cold and it was sleeting, but today we had sunshine so I spent all day in the garden, it was lovely to have a fine day. I am doing well at the gym not so fine with the walking I am ok if the walk is very flat but if its hilly the heart starts to thump.I do enjoy exercising, i especially like Polaties we dont do much of it we have been on bikes the last 2 weeks we do short sprints then ease off for 40 seconds then sprint for 30secs, apparently this is the best way to burn Fat, I dont know if it is working as I havent weighed myself. June, I hope your Eye test goes well are you and J still walking I had to get a hearing aid early this year for my left ear I have only had partial hearing in the ear since birth, I have found it very good and I dont even know that I have it in the ear as I have got into the shower with it on on a number occasions, but I do notice the difference in sound when I take it out. We are all well here, and you all seem to be busy .Mo I hope Rolys operation on his eye goes well. To Huia Crow, Deborah,Sallie and anyone that I may have missed Happy smiles to you all. Just one thing before I go what is C.DIFF.??? Love to you all Marie from OZ.

Marie,If you google C.DIFF it will explain it to you. It's clostridium diffacil.at least I think thats how you spell it. It can be a killer in the very young,or the elderly. People start by thinking they have a tummy bug,but it far more serious than that. You are so good sticking to your excercise,I wish I had your willpower. I feel for you with your bad weather. We are in the middle of a heatwave here. Our problem is,we don't have it long enough, for us to get used to it. So we moan about it. Mind you we moan when it's cold as well,we are just a nation of moaners really. I am glad you are feeling better Sallie. Don't try to do to much to soon. In this heat it will knock it out of you. I will have to go and get a shower,as I have just finished my house work, and the sweat is pouring of me. Love and best wishes to you all. Special ~~~~~~~~to our Jean.

Hi All,
Marie, you're still doing well going to the gym, as Mo's said already, I wish I had some of your willpower. Pleased to hear that you and your family are all well! Sorry that you are having such awful weather.
Mo, is it still hot down there today? It's sunny with a bit of a breeze here at the moment, although we had a shower of rain earlier on. It's a bit cooler, but still a bit too warm for me.
Speak soon.

Yes Sallie it's been warm all day. The breeze has got up now though. Do you remember,my telling you about my grandaughter, the one who had the cancer of the cervix. I am so worried about her again. She had another smear test,a couple of months ago,and they had not taken a big enough sample,so she had to have it done again. The results have come back, and it's not good news. She is supposed to be seing the specialist, on the 9th,but she has her monthlies due then,so I don't know what will be happening. I am not sure if she is on the pill,if she is,then I would think she could continue taking it,and prevent the monthlies. I am afraid to say to much to my daughter,or grandaughter,as they are both going through so much stress at the moment. Sorry girls, for laying this on you all,but I just wanted to get it of my chest. Love to you all. Mo xxx
