Just waiting for hubby to get home, so that we can go and do the weekly shop. Nothing very exciting happening here, but never mind, as long as we are all alright.

How did J get on with the doctor Jean,has he given him the all clear yet.
If he has,you can book your break away for his birthday. Where would you like to go to. Would you go back to where you went before J's op. As I know you enjoyed it there.
How are your legs now? are the stockings helping you? I see Dutch is still suffering.
It's good to hear from you Marilyn. How much longer till you get your H.AIDS. It cant be far away now,can it.
It sounds like you have been very busy. Don't over do it mate.

By Gum, Mo you are a nosy mare,LOL.....J goes next Monday for the follow up visit, the nurse came today and the wound is finally closing it was a little bit at the end......I can tell he is feeling better, he wanted to just wash something off the car...doh...I dont think so.....we like Llandudno but know the place we always go to will be booked up until end Sept/Oct, but there are plenty pubs that do b&b, Yorkshire or the Lakes.....Not sure about the stockings, I am wearing them but dont keep them onat night so far the pains are still there at night but I have to give them a fair go, I do feel sorry for Dutch, the docs over there dont seem as good as ours , she should have gone to see one when she was over here, but please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Marilyn, nice to hear from you, and of course all you other lovlies.
I am just finishing getting the tea done we are on braized steak, roast spuds, three veg , yorkshire pud all at Js request so thats a definite boost....be good ....

CLEANING CARS, or even breathing on one,until the doctor gives you the o.k.
I don't think you are supposed to wear the stockings at night Jean,they are to give you support during the day. At least that was what we were told when I was a Pharmacy assistant,before I retired.
Dutch should really have seen a doctor over here,I do agree with you on that. Plus she has the language barrier to get over. She is in my thoughts

Hi All, just thought I'd pop in to let you know we are all still alive and kicking over here. Jean, I'm so pleased that things are looking up a bit in your household. Take things slowly but surely and all will right itself in the end. I do hope you legs are a bit easier. I agree that perhaps you should keep the stockings off at night, but could you put a pillow at your feet end in bed just to raise your legs slightly? There again, if you sleep anything like I do, you move around so much in bed they are more of a hindrance than a help.

Lovely day here today, just got back from a long walk. My friend had some new white trousers on so it was just her bad luck to slip on some leaves and end up black and muddy. Poor thing. Thankfully I had a plastic bag for her to sit on in the car :-)) She was ok, just her pride that hurt. I hope she can get all the mud out.

The eldest 2 boys had a schools' athletics competition yesterday. The weather was atrocious and I think, if I haven't got Trench Foot, then Gout may set in. I was stood in puddles for 2½ hours in pouring rain and high winds. Some of the events were cancelled for safety reasons, but no such luck with the running on an all weather track. No records broken and nobody really enjoyed themselves, but it was an event that had to be run. Never mind.

Off to sort out the weeds in the garden now. They love the wet weather don't they? The bindweed is trailing beautifully around everything, so my mission for the morning is to get rid of it all.

Debbie, I once went to Auckland on the bus while my vehicle was being serviced. I walked to the museum and had a bit of a look then I came out and decided to take a short cut down a grassy bank. BIG mistake. It was wet and slippery. I sat down, got mud on my trousers and cuffs and handbag. I walked across the soggy cricket ground to some loos to try to clean up. Even my underpants were wet. I tied my sweat shirt round my waist to try to hide the dirty wet seat of my pants. Luckily there was a shop on my way back to the busstop where I was able to buy underpants and trousers not too expensively for my journey back to Papakura in the bus. I didnt fancy sitting (or more likely standing) in my wet clothes.

Hi All, oh Huia, I apologise, but I did have a little snigger to myself at your expense. At least you managed to go into the museum before your tumble. You may not have felt quite as enthusiasitc about it if things had been the other way round.

My friends trousers came out clean and she is fine. It's all just a bit awkward when something like that happens.

I'm just home from having spent 2 hours in Hospital. Poor Matthew did something to his foot yesterday on the way back from school. He has sprained the ligaments, so it is now heavily strapped and he has to keep it raised as much as he can, though is able to walk on it, even though it gives him pain. The leaflet the hospital gave us said that it can be 2-3 weeks before the pain subsides completely. He wants to get back to sports as quickly as possible, so they will just keep an eye on him at school and he will take it easy next week.

Oh well, at least it isn't a break. Not sure how we would have coped if he needed it plastered and he would have been out of action for a few weeks.

The rest of us are all ok, and I hope that you all are too. If I don't get back to here, I wish you all a lovely weekend. My 3rd son is 8 tomorrow and wants to go fishing for the day. The forecast isn't great so we may go to the bowling alley instead if it rains. Anything is a special treat.

Had to laugh at your thread Huia it is me that thing seems to happen to.

Well we got to the Zoo yesterday and we managed to miss most of the showers. Mind you little one moan a lot he dosent like to walk far.
Had to look for the first aid to get a plaster after he cut his hand, it was only a small cut but wouldnt stop bleeding.
After we sorted his hand out he enjoyed seeing all the animals.

Today my eldest is taking some more of his G C S E exams so I am keeping my fingures crossed he get on alright. He has work hard so I hope this will pay off.The school is taking some exams a year early.

Well the Sun is out and me and OH are still off work so at least we can get out in the garden. Going to a friend BBQ tomorrow so lets hope it stays warm.

Debbie, sorry to hear about Matthew's foot, hope it will soon get better.
Jennie did something to her foot when she was twelve, she was on crutches for two weeks, her dad took her to school on his way to work, and picked her up on his way home.

Sue, nice to hear that you had a good day at the zoo. Hope your son does well in his GCSE's - please wish him Good Luck for me. Enjoy yourself at the BBQ tomorrow, the weather is supposed to be good, so lets hope they are right.

I'm afraid, that I also had to laugh when I read about you slipping on the grass. I think it's our pride that gets hurt more than we do!

Mo, Jean and Marilyn, I hope you and your families are all well. It's nice to have some good weather, for a change.

Tomorrow, hubby and I are going to Hereford to do some research on his side of the family. We are also meeting for the first time, two of hubby's third cousins, so we are looking forward to that. I found them both on GR,
although I'd been searching for years for someone on that side of the family, it wasn't until four months ago that I found them. It just shows that you have to keep on searching.

Well hello girls,this thread appears to be like buses,more than one turns up at the same time,and yet when you wait for one,it takes ages to arrive.
It's great to hear from you all again.
Oh Huia,you are a girl,slipping and sliding like that. How is your OH,now?
Is he still attending the day centre?, as I read on the carers thread that your
OH went walk about. It must be such a worry for you,especially when you
entrust him into their care,and they are not giving him the attention he so
deserves. I know he likes walking,but surely they must have known that.
I am sorry to hear about Matthews accident, Debbie. Lots of love and attention,is what is called for now.
I hope the birthday boy,enjoys his fishing trip. The weather is supposed to
be good again. So it looks like you wont be bowling after all.
It should be nice for your BBQ Sue. So lttle one enjoyed the zoo then.
Children make me smile,it's amazing how a plaster,or a bit of cream is a
miracle worker. They firmly believe it heals them,don't they.
Sallie,how wonderful for your husband to be meeting,long lost family.

It's funny you saying about Matthew Debbie. My grandson,broke his wrist at football,a few weeks ago. Well,he has his exams this week as well.
So my daughter,concerned as its the wrist he writes with,made enquiries
as to wether he would be entitled to more time,to do the papers. And yes,
he is allowed another seven and a half minutes,but he has to have a letter from the doctor,stating he has broken the wrist,even though it is in plaster.
It cost my daughter eleven pounds for the letter. So I told her to get photo
copies done,in case he needs another letter for his other exams.
It's ludricous isn't it. The poor lad has been in plaster for at least three weeks now.

Hello everyone you all seem to be busy folk. sorry to hear about Mathews accident and also your grandson too, Mo... Huia, you seem to have your hands full, Its so difficult for you, and worrying too. My friends wife (who we have known for many years) has this awful illness , she doesnt recognise her son or us... heart breaking when we remember the many happy times we have spent together, J and I are praying that you will be able to have more help......J has had a bit of a set back, the wound has started seeping again, the nurse says they need to do a swab, to determine which course of antibiotics will clear it up.... he is a bit down and of course it rubs off on the rest of us....Sallie, have a nice visit with your newly found relatives, I havent touched my tree for along time, never quite grasped how to search My cousin has done all mine so I havent had to do anything ....keep saying I will have another go....off tp make a bedtime drink, keep safe all.....

Oh Jean,I am sorry J has had this setback. I am sure that once they find
out what is causing the infection,he will be back to his old self again.
And it must be so hard for you,and your daughter,to keep cheerful under
the circumstances.

Jean sorry to hear that J has had a bit of a setback, but once they know which anti-biotic the infection will respond to, he'll soon get better. Please give him my best wishes. Are your legs any better, Jean? Hope you are managing to rest them as much as possible!

Sue, hope you had a good weekend, and that you all enjoyed the BBQ at your friends, on Saturday. The weather was really lovely, just right for a BBQ.

Debbie, how is Matthew's foot? Hope it isn't too painful, and that he managed to enjoy his weekend. Did your third son go fishing or ten pin bowling for his birthday? Whatever he did, I'm sure he enjoyed himself.

Marie, Marilyn and Huia , hope all is well with you and your families.

Alun and I had a lovely day on Saturday. We met one of his cousin's, Bill
at the library, so we sat together, to do our research - we all found what we were looking for - so pleased about that.
We then met Ed ( cousin 2 ) and went to the cookware and coffee shop, that their gggrandparents kept as a bakers and confectioners in the 1860/70's.
So, we had lunch there, and as the weather was lovely we sat outside to eat. We were sitting in what was once their gggrandparents backyard.
The shop and coffee shop are quite low, with the original beams, and two very narrow stairs.
Ed, then took us on a tour round Herefoford, showing us the shops and houses where their ancestors once lived. Also, two churches where some of them got married.

It was very tiring, driving there and back in one day, and all the walking we did -- but, it was worth it all.

Sallie, we have been to the hospital today, and the outcome is good, the polyps wasnt cancerous thank the Lord, although very large. we go again in six weeks.... both of us are very tired ,bit of an anti climax I think, I went to bed this afternoon and still feel so weary, thank you for your support everyone. it has meant a great deal to us both.....I will speak to you all later,

different antibiotic now?
I cannot say how pleased I am for you both. All our prayers have been answered,after all they were said enmasse.

Jean, what good news. That must be a tremendous weight off your shoulders. I hope that J's new Anti-Biotics are kicking in and he is a lot more comfortable. How are your legs? - I hope they are feeling a bit better.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on Matthew. His foot seems so much better today. I think that he has "worked" it back to good health. He certainly isn't in pain any more and the swelling has gone completely. He said it twinged slightly today but nothing to worry him. He's out fishing now with friends at the harbour.

Luke enjoyed his 8th Birthday on Saturday. We saw Sophie play football then all went out for lunch. After that we went to the beach to dig worms and find bait for the proposed day long fishing trip the next day.

Sunday saw the 4 males of the household off to our little boat at 6.30am(!). They didn't get home til 7.45pm. What a day they had. Caught loads of fish, got a good few Lobsters in the Lobster Pots and followed a group of about 50 Dolphins who were playing in the water. They followed the boat for ages. They also saw a local group of seals, and some Puffins on the cliff faces. So a good time was had by all and even my 13 year old said it was the best day he's had in ages. And he knows how to keep busy and occupy his time.

Just had a slap up meal of so many different types of fish, it was wonderful. Loads of Jersey Royal potatoes and fresh veg - aaaahh heaven on a plate.

Off to do dishes and get the little 2 into bed. Night all.

Jean, so pleased to hear the good news about J - it's good that he has to go again in six weeks - at least they are keeping an eye on him, and it puts both your minds at rest. Try and get as much rest as you can now that the worry is over! Hope your daughter is getting along alright, Jean.

Hello all

Well Sallie how great your day sounded. I would love to find someone who knew more about my family tree and could show me where the people lived.
Thanks for your luck with my son GCSE he seemed to get on fine with that exam but has loads more this week.
The weather was great at the BBQ and I had a really lovely day, I have made friends with my sons best friends family and it was their house we went to. We all get on really well and just relax with good food and drink.
We live close by so just had to walk home.
Just been out for a walk with the same friend as we both need to try and lose weight.

Debbie I love fish and how nice to be able to have a fresh catch.
Glad your family had a great day.

Hope you win at your darts Mo. I used to play darts but soon stopped as I got more off the board. Once I smash the spot light above tha dart board in one club and it fused their lights. Had to wait while someone flipped the fuse back on so the game could continue.

Jean glad to read your news from the hospital. Hope you both get a good night sleep and feel refreshed in the morning.

Sue,I am glad your son is getting on o.k with his GCSE's.
I think most schools,are doing them at the moment,arn't they. My grandson is still doing his. He has got his Science exam on monday.Dont know if they are GCSE'' though.
He want's to stay on at school,to get all the results he needs to go to university. He wants to be a sports teacher or a physiotherapist. I cant
believe he will be sixteen in October. Here we have a child,who at the age of about four,was told he needed to go to a special needs school. We told our daughter that there was nothing wrong with him,that he was just a shy boy. So she persisted,and got him into a mainstream school,and there is no holding him back. Please don't misunderstand me,there is nothing wrong with special needs schools,but my grandson did not need
one.
