Hi Everyone,

Jean, sorry to hear that J isn't feeling to well at the moment. It takes about fortyeight hours for the anti-biotics to kick in, doesn't it - the trouble is, when we are poorly they don't seem to work quick enough.
I hope you will get on alright at the doctors tomorrow - have you seen the doctor about your legs before now, Jean? I'll be thinking about you - and that the doctor can give you something for them - hopefully you can then get a good nights sleep.
Sorry Jean, I didn't know that your daughter has MS. Best wishes to you all!

Mo, good to hear that you are plodding along nicely. Although sorry to hear that Roly's got to have another cataract removed . It's all coming at the same time, isn't it. Please tell him that I am thinking about him and hope that his problems will soon be sorted.

Debbie, your boys have done well! After doing so well I think both Daniel and Matthew deserve a bit of " flirting". It's also nice to see that when they don't do so well, they can take it in good part.
It's been cloudy and cooler here today, too. I don't like it too hot, so the cooler weather suits me fine - although hubby loves it when it's hot.

Marilyn, don't worry about not writing as much as some of us. Some days there seems to be a lot to talk about, and other days hardly anything to say. I know how you feel after visitors have gone home - the house is so quiet.

Jennie was only given enough medication for two weeks, so she has to go again in two weeks time, when she will be given medication for four weeks. Then four weeks later, she will be given medication for eight weeks. It's good that they build up the dosage over the weeks rather than all in one go.
She was telling us, that over the four hours they were taking her blood pressure, temperature and oxygen level every half hour. It's nice to know that they were keeping a close check on her, in case of a reaction! They also gave her a very nice lunch - a lot nicer than when she's had to stay in hospital.
But, as Jennie said, as long as she's getting the care and treatment, she's not too bothered.

Hi, folk, Its all going pear shaped ,just got back from docs,I have to have support stockings for the painful legs, not much else they can do, water tabs dont make a lot of difference it seems...... and......got to have ears tested,,,,,
hate it !!!! but I suppose it will be better than not hearing the right info and cocking up big time ROFL!....Sallie my daughter as also been told she has diabeties too. but is not on medication yet, she is managing to control it through her diet....but not a lot phases her which is a good thing.....

So from one sad doddery old gal I will love you and leave you,while I have a cuppa.....love Jean xx

Sorry they couldn't do more for you, apart from wearing support stockings.
You would think that in this day and age, there would be something they could give you, Jean!
I know that it isn't always possible, but you will have to try and elevate your legs more during the day.
Hope R is feeling a bit better today! Your daughter sounds a bit like my daughter - always looking on the positive side.

Afternoon girls.
Perhaps the stockings will help Jean. You can but try. The support they give is pretty good,and if you are stood for to long periods,they will help.
As Sallie says,put your feet up. If you elevate them in the afternoon,up on pillows or cushions,that should help for bed time.
And I have to admit,I don't always hear what people say to me. I think I have selective deafness,when I need to. That's why it's easier for me on here,I can actually see the words,and dont have to rely on my ears.
Poor Roly,he is always shouting at me,and says I am ignoring him on purpose.
It cant be long now till Marilyn gets her hearing aids fitted. There you go,we talk about a subject,and I go of at a tangent. Sorry about that.
Well girls.the weather here has really broken. It's horrid out there. We had rain this morning,my washing came in wetter than it went out.

Hello Ladies. Oh poor Jean, if it isn't one thing it's another. I am sure the hot weather has played its part in your swollen legs as well. I hope they soon go down. It can actually be quite painful can't it.

Sallie, your daughter is really in the wars isn't she but at least the hospital are well on top of the treatment they are giving her. Hopefully eventually it will allow her a better quality of life.

Guess What..........NO ATHLETICS TODAY.......... so I treated myself out to lunch with a girlfriend at a lovely beach cafe. Only sandwiches and water but it's always nice to have someone else make it.

The boys did well in the running yesterday. Matthew had a 3rd place and Daniel two 2nds, so they were very happy.

Son No.3 is at Brazillian Soccer at the moment. He finishes at 6.20 so then I think we are all in for the evening. Pizzas and a DVD to watch seems to be the order of the day I think. We've had a busy week.

Youngest has Brazillian Soccer at 10 tomorrow then a swimming party at 2, so she will be busy. Let's hope the weather holds as the pool is in the hosts' garden. Not sure how they would cope if they had to have 15 excited 6 year old girls running around indoors.

Sorry, Mo, our weather is fantastic again, risk of a shower overnight then lovely again tomorrow. We have a 3 day motoring festival here this weekend with some amazing events and cars, so I think I may go and watch some of it. I'm a bit of a closet "Petrol Head" but don't tell anyone. My OH can't understand why I get so excited at seeing cars racing.

Anyway, hope you are all as well as can be expected. Look after yourselves.

O.k Debbie,I give up. What is Brazilian soccer. And how does it vary from ours.
Matthew and Daniel,are our little stars,they did really well again.
I can't believe how many girls are into football and soccer,nowadays good
for them I say. I hope little one enjoys her party.
Well "Petrol Head" enjoy the weather whilst it's nice,and don't get to excited
at the motoring festival.
It's all right for some,enjoying themselves at beachside cafes,while we get a soaking. lol.

Ok Mo, Brazillian Soccer (which I had never heard of either) is based primarily on individual skills rather than all team work. It suits the younger ones more as they are not quite up to continual team training. They always end with a game at the end of the session, but work the whole session by themselves until the last 10-15mins.

It originated (surprisingly) in Brazil, and is what the youngsters play there in their bare feet on the beach or in the streets. The most famous Brazillian player, Ronaldinhio (?sp), started off that way and has endorsed the Brazillian Soccer schools worldwide.

Over here they also have a beach soccer league which is for the older children and adults alike. Apparently it is a very up and coming sport and may even become a demonstration Olympic sport, a bit like the beach volleyball. Watch this space. No, my big 2 don't play it. They prefer grass & mud.

I try to be in bed by eleven at the latest,even if I cant get to sleep straight away. I take my sleeping tablet at ten p.m,and they take about an hour to work. I wish I didn't have to take them,but with this osteo arthritus,the pains I get in my head during the night,wake me up otherwise. Poor old soul.
Well girls,it's a lovely day here in Kent again today. My oriental lilies look
really beautiful,there out in full bloom,and the rest of the garden is looking
good. After all my hard work,in planting it up,I am so pleased with it.

Hi All. Well, you lot had the last laugh today didn't you? I had been telling you about our gorgeous weather all week when you were all suffering, so you decided to send me some of your storms today, just as I was watching the children do a Charity Fun Run. Not very charitable. It was freezing with driving rain and gale force winds. Not so great when you are watching along the sea front.

Anyway, we made the most of it and the children enjoyed themselves. I think once you get to a certain point of wetness, it doesn't matter how much more is thrown at you.

We took my Dad and F.I.L. out for lunch which was nice. My dad had a stroke earlier this year and F.I.L.'s alzheimers is getting worse, so we were quite an entertaining bunch - one that couldn't walk very far but had all his marbles and the other who is as strong as an ox, but is deaf and can't remember half way through a sentence what he was talking about. So, between us, we managed. You've got to take these things with a sense of humour otherwise we would all get so down about them wouldn't we?

Anyway. Home now, just sorting out uniforms & lunch boxes for tomorrow, then back to the grindstone.

Jean, I hope you had a lovely day yesterday and that you and J are both on the mend.

Debbie, you aren't the only ones with bad weather. It rained most of yesterday and all day today, here in Derbyshire. My hubby says it's like living back home in Wales. They get a lot more rain than we do, although we seem to be getting quite a bit lately. Hope you all enjoyed your lunch out - as you said Debbie, you have to look on the funny side of life, it makes it easier to get through each day.

Jean, hope you are having a lovely birthday, and that you are having some nice weather for it. Hope J is feeling better. Good wishes to the both of you!

Mo, yes I do tend to be a bit of a night owl! If I go to bed to soon, I just can't seem to get to sleep - my mind starts working overtime. I don't want to start taking sleeping tablets if I can help it, so I'll keep struggling on for the time being. It's only since I've got older, that I've had this problem.
My mother was the same, until she started taking sleeping tablets.

Sorry to hear you have had bad weather Debbie but we have had rain the last 3 days in the midlands plus more to come this week. Me and hubby are both off work this week( hence the rain)

Didnt go to the zoo but took the kids bowling , cinema and out for sunday dinner saved me cooking. Adams first time at the cinema he was good apart from sliping of the seat and hitting the man in front on his head.He was fine we did say sorry.

Like you Debbie just got the lunches ready for school, kids up and OH is still snoring in bed.Never stops for us ladies.

Sallie we went to wales last year for our holiday and your Husbands is right rained the whole week, but we went with friends and had a great time anyway.
Debbie glad you had a nice lunch with your dad and F I L like you say some times you just have to look at the funny side. My twin was disabled and some of the outings we had you could only but laugh. It is good not to let life get us down.

Debbie you remind me of my days of getting children to all their sports it was so hectic but i loved it.I am sorry to hear that you are all having problems with your health and that of your children
I dont know I only went away for 17 days and you seem to have fallen apart.

I had a great holiday with my Brother and his wife I also spent time with my Sister. the weather was great lovely and warm
temps. of 22 to 27 degrees with nice cool breezes. I am now feeling quite cold when I got out of the plane it was only 6 degrees Brrr.
Mo I had to laugh at your description of your hubbie cutting the hedge lol. pleased your garden is doing well.

Oh gosh, did I make it sound so awful yesterday? Actually, the charity Fun Run, was just that - FUN. It was the Run For Moore in memory of Bobby Moore the Footballer who died of Cancer. Over here it was run just before the Race for Life, so there were runs for both the males & females of society. All ages, shapes & sizes take part and everyone had a laugh, and at the end of the day it is the Cancer Charities who benefit so a good morning out, despite the rain.

Went for a long swim today, so feel quite awake. Then went to see my Dad. He is ok after his lunch yesterday. Mum is away at the moment in France with the Choir for various concerts, so myself, my 2 sisters and my brother have been on "Dad Patrol". Just keeping an eye on him and making sure he takes his tablets when he should. He has so many to take but uses one of these special holders split into days then times of the day, so as long as he doesn't forget to take them, he can't go too far wrong.

Mo & Sallie, I can't imagine not being able to sleep, it must be awful. Thankfully I sleep well and go to bed at a reasonable time, otherwise I would be too tired the next day. I hate feeling tired asit makes me grumpy and snappy (or is that just my age, I wonder?).

Jean, I hope that you and J are ok.

Hello everyone,nice to hear from you all.
Welcome back Marie,did you have a nice time? We missed all your news.
Hows the family bearing up,I hope they are well. As you have read on here,
we have had some trials and tribulations going on,health wise,but thank
god,we are coming out the other side. Still got lots of hospital appointments,to attend,but I will get Roly sorted out in the end.
So Sue we can blame you for all this rain can we. Next time you have a
holiday,can you warn us in advance,so that we can pop onto a plane and go and visit Marie.
Oh bless little Adam,I am glad he enjoyed his visit to the cinema. Next time take a seat belt,so as he doesn't fall of the seat.
I had to laugh at your " Dad Patrol" Debbie,but you are lucky that there are
a few of you to care for Dad.
When my Mum was alive,her care fell onto my shoulders. My brother was working,and had a young family to look after [ his second marriage ]
It was darned hard work at times,but she was my Mum,so like so many others,you do it automatically don't you. And love conquers all the problems that you encounter.
But it was so sad when dementia set in. On one occasion,when I visited her,she was convinced she had,had to drive a bus. She said to me,"I told
them that I am registered blind,but they still made me do it" bless her.
I will have to p.m Jean,as Taff put a post up yesterday saying that Jean had problems with her computer.

Jean, just been reading you thread telling us that you are now back online.
It's really good that your daughter could sort out the problem! I wouldn't have a clue where to start. Thank goodness, hubby is a computer technician, at least there is someone in the house that know's what to do.
Jean, pleased to hear that J is feeling better, as you said, you can tell when they are better, as they don't moan so much.
I hope your legs have improved, and are not so painful.

Marie, nice to see you back. So pleased that you enjoyed your holiday with your relatives. It's always nice to spend some time with brothers and sisters. We find, that when we all get together, there's so much to talk about, and that the time goes by so quickly.

Sue, although we have lived in Derbyshire fo thirty years, we still love and miss Wales, but we don't miss the rain. I can remember one summer, when it rained continually for a whole month, can't remember the date now, but I know that we had only been married for a short time.

Debbie, glad you all had a good weekend, and that the weather didn't spoil the Fun Run. I know what you mean about " Dad Patrol ", my sister-in -law has to do the same when she needs to go somewhere where she can't take her hubby. They also have a friend that lives nearby - he sometimes stays the night, while my sister - in - law is away. It takes the pressure off her, during these times.

Mo, hope all is well with both you and R. I must say, your garden sounds really nice - don't know what oriental lillies look like, but you make them sound beautiful.
Mo, I think I need a switch on my brain so that I can switch off when I go to bed.

Well, I must stop going on and on, and go and make us a cup of tea!

Hello, you lovely people, well you have all been busy with all sorts of stuff, I was crawling the walls without my laptop, but my little genius fixed it...I didnt do much for my birthday only pamper J, but I did have a lot of lovely cards from friends both on here and at home.it was a nice surprise also flowers and my close friend bought me a watch, so I didnt do so bad.....J is 75 on the 18th and I havent a clue what to get him, what do you buy someone who has everthing, If he gets the all clear from the doc I may book a weekend away....

Marie its lovely to hear from you, we missed you, but so glad you had a good time with your family,

Sorry I have not been on much......I have been up to my eyeballs in such a lot of Uninteresting things....
Have had visitors ,helping someone with their tree, workmen in (,childminding grand kids ) I have just popped on occasionally various threads now & again.
