Arrrrrrrgh!...are you in the local Quiz Team?

Try this
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port
Aboard this tiny ship.

The mate was a mighty sailing man,
The skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three hour tour, a three hour tour.

The weather started getting rough,
The tiny ship was tossed,
If not for the courage of the fearless crew
The minnow would be lost, the minnow would be lost.

Robert - The pilot of Fireball XL5 was Steve Zodiac.

Here's the theme tune - my elder brother had it on '45 and used to play the thing non-stop; forty + years later and it's still imbedded in my brain!

And don't worry I'm not serenading you!!!!

"I wish I was a spa-a-ceman,
The fastest guy alive.

I'd fly you 'round the Universe
In Fireball XL5,

Way out in space together,
Conquerors of the sky,

My heart would be a fireball (dah dah dah dah)

A fireball (dah dah dah dah)

Every time I gaze into your starry eyes

We'd take a path to Jupiter and maybe very soon,
We'd cruise along the Milky Way and land upon the Moon.

To a wonderland of stardust.
We'd zoom our way to Mars.

My heart would be a fireball (dah dah dah dah)

A fireball (dah dah dah dah)

And you would be my Venus of the stars."

No worries Robert.

I remember they showed Fireball XL5 during the sumer holidays in the early 80s. I was working shifts at the time and used to stay up after nights and watch it before going to bed - I think I enjoyed it better the second time around!

Captain Scarlet was also a fave of mine - I think I enjoyed all of the Gerry and Sylvia Anderson series. I loved the way a vehicle either had about 12 wheels or none!

The other one I enjoyed was UFO, which had real people in it. They were re-showing it on ITV4 at some filthy time in the morning recently.

Ed Bishop as Commander Straker, Gabrielle Drake in her purple wig and Peter Gordeno as the "Sky Diver" pilot
