Hope the firetruck sticks around and can help you and the school if needs be.

Stay safe, off to bed now.

4.04 pm - getting very dark here - thick smoke and strong winds.
No live embers falling now thank goodness!
Cant really see much anymore but I know most of the fires have gone south instead of southeast which is where I am. Spot fires on 3 sides of me, none closer than about 600 metres.

Luckily I have the Lang Lang CFA firetruck at the school next door now.

Oh Mick, take care, have you got people with you to help put out the embers before they can take hold?
Hope everything goes ok and you don't lose anything dear to you.

Good luck Mick, will be off to bed in a while so hope all is ok with you now and the wind is blowing everything well away from you, or better still the fires are out.

Guess you couldn't avoid this for ever, Mick, but hope the fires get put out soon and meantime the wind changes direction so it doesn't fan them towards you, smoke or flames. Is the position any better now? Do you have folk who will help you move the livestock if you need to?
We are very lucky here not to have this worry altho there are areas in this country that could catch fire if there was a hot dry summer, not something we have had to worry about the last few years.

take care, mate,

1.38 pm - 2 big spot fires - one about 1 km to the west and another about the same to the south - looks like its burning along the roadside. Still no embers falling here thank gawd!

The fire has jumped Highway One at Longwarry = Police are now closing the Hwy between Pakenham and Warragul.

1.20 pm - property completely shaded by smoke now -high up - none at ground level. I have been watching the giant fire bombing choppers refilling with water at the dam over the road! Amazing sight - they can refill literally in seconds! Took some photos that I will post on another site!

12.33 pm - 42 degrees - getting windy.

The fire is a huge smoke plume to the north west now.

Still no smoke here - seems to be moving due south.

Hi All

11.31 am - temperature now 40 degrees , not too windy.

2 firetrucks took up station in the school next to my farm, but have now gone - obviously needed elsewhere.

Hi Mick, of course you want to fight the fires if they come near your home and livestock etc but do take care, don't take risks, your life is the most important thing. Have you had time to gather together all important documentation etc where you can get it quickly if need be to take away with you, or have it safe where it won't get spoiled from fire or water? Will be thinking about you and sending positive thoughts that things are ok for you.
