I had no idea just how bad the fires were until I woke this morning to hear about so many deaths and see appalling scenes of the fires on the television. |

Apparently only about 25% of the fires are caused directly by the heatwave. The rest are started by arsonists, or just stupid people. One car has just been seen in the area, the passenger threw a lit cigarette out of the window! Incredible. |

Having once seen a heath fire spread many miles in a short time, I know exactly how horrifying this can be. My admiration is for the firefighters and all their hard work. How disheartening for them when they cannot save somone. Think of the frightened animals who have no escape. We can only wish a swift end for all. |
