I think Donal is improving slowly, I think he is lovely, have liked him since he started appearing on tv.
Melinda to my mind was as good as Colleen, just that Colleen has more supporters, altho I don't know why, Melinda is as nice a person as Colleen. For older skaters they both did well, sad to see Melinda out.
Ray has added another string to his bow now, he is so good he has said he would like to do more skating in future apart from on the show.

Coleen, obviously got a popularity vote and Melinda went out in the skate off. I have felt sorry for Melinda as she obviously is not popular with the public. she was the worst of the two in the skate off but whether she was worse than Coleen or Donal is debateable. I only hope Coleen's public don't keep her in over some of the good skaters now.

I have to agree that Ray was once again fantastic tonight (although I do find him incredibly annoying) He always makes it look so easy that I feel sorry for the other contestants.

Sadly, I think it must be Colleen in the skate off. I really like her and think her attitude is great, but she just isn't as good as the rest.
Not sure who will be in there with her, probably Melinda or Donal, although I thought Doanl did really well tonight and has improved so much.

Anyway, who am I to talk - I couldn't even stand up on the ice, let alone perform as they all have!!

Well done to all of them.

Here we go again, wasn't Ray great tonight, very watchable. But, bad at skating though she is, what a lovely personality Colen has. Who will it be tonight in the skate off? I think maybe coleen and Melinda or Donal and Melinda.

Just watched Sundays programme(recorded) and have to agree Ellery was on the cards to go although I did think Coleen may be in the skate-off. After Coleen was called out as survicing I imagine the skate-off ti be between Roxanne and Ellery as the judges have not been kind to her. Melinda I felt was unlucky to be in the skate off but as soneone has already said, perhaps she is not popular with the public. Donal seems to have 'come on' quite well and as things stand, I wouldn't be surprised to see Coleen and Melinda/Roxanne in the skate-off next week unless of course all those Loose Women supporters keep Coleen in. I must say here, wasn't Ellery really gravious in defeat. What a pleasure to see a celebrity not 'up their own.....' for a change. See you all next week on this thread.

So Ellery went out, Coleen got the public's vote, melinda is not popular is she. However, she did skate a lot better in the skate off.

Ray was excellent tonight, lovely to watch, difficult to believe he isn't the professional sometimes.

It was about time Todd went, in fact he probably should have gone last week. It wasn't fair that people better than him were going and even the improvements he made still had him worse than everyone else on their first performances. Still he was entertaining. Things should get interesting, I think there's a clear divide between the top four and the rest.

It's hard for Ray to improve because he was already so good, sometimes it's hard to remember which is the celeb and which the pro skater. They're giving him such hard routines too. I love watching him.

There was a verbal slip early in the competition by one of the judges that hinted they were under orders not to give higher than a 5.0 until later in the competition. Which means he was getting the max marks possible until last night when they went to 5.5

I don't understand why they (was it Roxy?) put that headbanger in when it looked so ungainly to get her there...it seemed like it had just been stuck in for the points and the lack of fluidity leading into it probably lost any marks that would have been gained.

Oh yes I agree it was time for Todd to go, he would have meant others better than him would have gone if he stayed and it wouldn't be fair, but he was ready and he knew he'd go after the skate off. I still say it wont be the same he was very entertaining, but that is not a bad thing, it should be now a more serious contest. I think Ellery should be the next, he is very wooden. having said that, as one who could never even stay standing, I admire them all, it is hard, and if they get it wrong it is dangerous. Poor Roxanne, that must have been so terrifying, she deserved to go through.

Yes agree - this was definitely Todd's time to go. He had improved slightly but his improvement was way behind the improvement made by others. I did think him and Ellery for the skate-off but was a bit dubious about whether Coleen would survive the 'last three' scenario. Ray continues to shine but somehow, for me - he didn't seem any better this week than he has done on previous weeks. I think because he is obviously such a good skater anyway, any improvement will be minimal. Perhaps this is down to the fact that the music chosen for his routines all seem to be of the same 'ilk' so he tends to do the same disco type moves in every routine. I think they should change the tempo a bit for him and challenge him more. Felt sorry for the chappie who got his leg cut - ooohhh - looked sore

Sorry, but I think it was time Todd went out, even though I agree he was entertaining.

The competition is getting more serious now and even those who are struggling were not as bad as Todd. It would have been unfair if he had stayed in again tonight.

I thought he was very gracious in his speech and knew that he had had a good run. He has shown himself to be a really good sport and that he doesn't take himself too seriously - what a lovely man.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Jan 2009 14:06

I think it is OK Todd staying in while there are still people who are not skating particularly well but wouldn't want to see him go through to the final. He was funny though.

Margaret

Margaret Report 26 Jan 2009 13:44

Have watched and re-watched Todd's comedy performance and must admit it makes me laugh out loud every time. Reminds me of that Frank Spencer episode where he is on rollers skates or of a latter-day Norman Wisdom. I have mixed feelings about him staying in - I would like him in for the pure comedy entertainment value but then again would feel sorry for the better skaters who may have to go out because of this. Ray is certainly a great skater and looks to be a finalist certainty but like others have said, although a likeable blode is also somewhat irritating and I can't really say why. Was pleased for Coleen that she improved on her previous performance and would love to see her stay for a couple or more weeks. Was surprised that Jeremy went out, had a feeling it would be Donal but hey-ho, that's what makes these programmes so interesting - their unpredictability.

Ellery's partner is Frankie (can't remember her surname)

I like Zoe, she comes across as a genuinely nice person. I like all the girls and think Jessica is the best of them so far. I agree that Ray is a good skater but can he keep improving enough to stay in or will he peak too early.
