Well done Maria - getting started is always hard. I know what you mean about enjoying it - me and the children had some great times with it last year. I will definitely give it a go tomorrow morning after I have cleared everyone else out of the house.
You have done really well only putting 4lb on in 2 months - keep up the good work!

Hi Tina-j, welcome :o) ... 16lbs last year was brilliant, and you can make up the bit you've put back on, just start again and know that you've done it before you can do it again. I'm sure you'll find support on here - you're not on your own :o).
Well my Wii Fit was very kind to me just now. It didn't laugh TOO loudly. It had lost track of how long it's been since I was on, it usually tells you how many days, but I've checked my last weigh in and it was 4th November, and I've only put 4lbs on since then. Very surprised I genuinely thought it would be more like 8 or 9.
I'm DETERMINED to keep up with it - the thing is once I'm doing it I really do enjoy it, it's just getting started back on it once you've had a bit of a break.
I'm feeling a lot more positive now - I'm going to start taking sea kelp tablets again because I could tell that was definitely giving my metabolism a boost before Christmas, will stock up on the grapefruit juice, and I'm going to get back to the nurse too, she's very supportive and her scales don't tell porkies so there's no escape!
Keep at it everyone

Hi Penny, Maria, Tina and everyone else
Do you mind if I join you? I too have a lot to lose - and I had made a start after summer and lost 16lb up to mid November, but then it all went pear shaped (been there before!!) and I have put 7lb back on again.
I am going to reintroduce myself to my Wii Fit tomorrow morning - it probably won't recognise me and may even start laughing when I climb on but I'll have a go anyway.
So fingers crossed - 1 stone at a time, and good luck to you all

Hi Penny,
I didn't see it last night but what you've said about it makes perfect sense, definitely worth remembering.
Maria xx
PS I think only 3lbs over Christmas is pretty good, don't you?

Tina thanks for your reply last night - sorry I didn't come back on, I wasn't on my Wii Fit I'm afraid I was on the sofa! Never mind.
I am NOW going to go on my Wii Fit! and (when it's stopped laughing at me) it will tell me how long it's been since we last got together (it counts in days but it might be easier to round it up to the nearest month) & how much I've put on since. Oh dear.
Onwards & upwards as they say, though hopefully the weight will be downwards by February! Four stone at least to shift but will take it 1 at a time I think, lol.

Hi All
I put on 3lb over Christmas. My instructor put on 5 so didn't feel too bad :-)
I was watching Paul McKenna last night " I can make you thin"
One main thing of his is eat consciously . Chew food lots, taste the food, don't read or watch tv whilst you are eating. Put your knife & fork down after every mouthful. Stop eating when you feel full.

What else do they say,
A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips!!!!
I think we should all remember that we did not become overweight overnight, for me it has crept on over many years so I have accepted that I am not going to loose it overnight, I'm with you Jean I only dare take a stone at a time otherwise I would just give up, I am for now feeling very positive but that feeling could last a short time!!!! Lets keep those positive vibes going!!!!! T.

Hi, Tina and Marie,If I think about the many stones I need to lose I wouldnt be motivated at all, so I am looking for the first stone , then onwards, I refuse to get upset anymore I have been there and done that time and time again....I think the guilt trip does more harm than good, so positive thoughts please ladies. if we err at all just say so then forget it,we will no doubt be helped by the input we give on another....Remember....
Bigger snacks mean Bigger slacks.......
Dieting is not a piece of cake!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't apologise Maria we have all been there!!! In November 2007 I went to the doctors and as usual she wanted to blame it on me being overweight. She didn't weigh me there and then but suggested I might like to see the practice nurse for some helpfull advice (Sorry but we all know HOW we should eat healthily!!!) It took me 4 months of excuses before I went to the nurse who told me the last time I was weighed in the surgery was 1993 when I was pregnant!!!! ANYWAY to my horror I was about 5 stone heavier than I had thought which was quite a shock!!! But once I got into the swing of it going back and getting weighed by the nurse every 2 weeks, I started to loose weight for the first time since the early 80's!!!! Most times she weighed me I lost about 2lb in 2 weeks but I never gained anything btween march and december then today I found out i put on 6 lbs over xmas!!!! So have put my mind to it and am on my way again hopefully!!!!
Have you got much you want to loose??? It can seem like a mammoth task whatever it is don't you think!! Good Luck anyway, I expect by now you are on the Wii fit as we speak!!!!!! Tina

Hello all.
I haven't made a very good start I'm araid. I shouldn't even be here I should be on my Wii Fit right now, hula hooping & stepping for all I'm worth!
I haven't made an appointment to go back to my nurse yet - putting it off with any lame excuse I can think of.
I think I've put about half a stone on over Christmas despite being really poorly with flu therefore haven't felt much like eating and have hardly had any booze either.
Fed up of the sound of my own thoughts on this to be honest, everything I say sounds like an excuse, and I should just get on with it.
To anyone who is still reading, sorry for moaning, but I feel better for getting it off my chest, lol.
Good luck everyone
Maria xx

Hi Everyone I went to get weighed with the nurse today and she tells me I put on 6lbs over christmas which sounds terrible but not unexpected as I had rather got carried away!! I have got loads of weight to loose so by March I have set myself a target of loosing the 6lb plus another stone, thats 20lb in 2 months so I will have to work very hard to acheive this. If I manage to do it then I will set myself another target to aim for before my holiday and go on like that. This is what I did last year and I managed to loose 4 stone in all so hope to be able to get back into it again and continue the good work!!!
How is everyone else doing it, weight watchers, calorie counting, slimming world, whats the best way. My motto has been a LITTLE of what you fancy does you good!! Nothing is off limits BUT I tell myself if I fancy something I have to wait till the next mealtime to have it, then if I still fancy a bit of chocolate I will have some after my meal (I don't go in for puddings anyway) Nine times out of 10 I don't want it then but if I do I have it!! Seems to work for me but then I have got a lot to loose, I expect by the time I get to the last stone I want to shift I will have to be much more strict!! Happy Slimming!! Tina

I would like to join.
As usual I gain 10lb over Christmas.
I start tomorrow with healthy eating and have a fresh mushroom soup ready to go for lunch time. I loosely follow a ww plan. I have an autoimmune condition and iQuercitin has come up as a remedy and interestingly enough Althernative Health Practioners have suggested it for weight loss; so I am thinking of giving it a go.
Anyway I have to lose the 10lb by mid Feb or I wont fit in my uniform again and ideally I want to lose 2 stone (min) by June. However whilst I start healthy eating tomorrow, I am off to the Uk on Wednesday. Thursday I am out with a school friend and Friday with the in-laws and Saturday with sis and her hubby.....................................................WISH ME LUCK!!!!
I will post with my start weight tomrrow! I for one would rather a earlier weighin in the week as Friday gives me a chance to cheat over the weekend\!!!!
love Theresa
BTW Duromine is an amphetamine that is discontinued in the UK for public use, although some prvate drs will prescribe it.

Hi Tinky and everyone,
Isn't this fun,it's the first time I've been in an on-line weight loss group. Well done,Tina, keep it up,you're going well.I suppose we all have good reasons to lose weight-mine is that I'm coming out to visit the UK in April, and don't want to look or feel like the Aussie beached whale /blimp. I want to feel good, not overweight when I meet my email friends, cousins and rellies that I've met through GR. Now I have no excuse-all the mince pies, shortbread, etc are finished,so time to get down to business! We're all here for the same reason,so we can help and encourage one another to lose weight.Good luck, everyone!
Best wishes, Margot xx

Friday weight in sounds good to me, took me half an hour to burn off 105 calories on my dance mat today, must learn to do it faster, still on beginner stage, basic has too many steps for me at the moment. Still, managing to keep of the sweet stuff, have actually said no thank you to one or two offers of the terrible stuff at work lol
Good luck everyone
