My friend had to do no solids for the week before and the week after her op. She got by with a misxture of homemade (liquidised) soups and slimfast milkshakes. It did the job but she was so sick of them by the end of 2 weeks!

Well done Tinky
I hope it all goes well for your OH. My exercise buddy had a gastic band fitted in September and although it means she is losing weight much faster than me it is still helping me too. We don't go out for coffee & cakes anymore (more likely to go out for soup lol) and it keeps me focussed - I can't afford a bad week!! So I sort of got some of the benefit without the surgery - that suits me cos I wouldn't be brave enough to have an op!!
Hope it works for you to

Thanks Jean
I am feeling much better - I am really well, but have this irritating lingering cough left. Your visit to the nurse sounds like a success - it is easier to feel positive when you are feeling well.
Good luck

Hi, all, my visit to the nurse was just as I thought only 2lbs in 5 weeks, but she is really pleased with my efforts, my main reason was the awful tiredness I was having quite a worry, now it seems I wasnt eating enough or a balanced meal, so now I am able to report the change is quite dramatic, compared to how I was before, I am still looking to lose some weight, need to get the portions right, stop guessing, at my age the weight doesnt move as quickly as when I was younger, still on with the challenge.
Hope you are feeling better Tina........

Hello everyone - we have gone quiet haven't we?

I didn't manage to sign in last week as I was falling prey to one of those horrible cold bugs doing the rounds, so was busy feeling sorry for myself instead.

I lost 0.5lb (snap Tinky!) that week and was a little disappointed, but this week I have lost 2.5lb, so 3lb over the 2 weeks which I am happy with. Next week will be a shock to the system as I will have to go back to my Discoburn workout - the children are on half term so I haven't been able to go to.

Well done Tinky and Teresa - keep those lbs coming off. Marilyn Margot & Jean - keep up your good work - it will happen - I know how you feel as I get really down too when the scales don't move.

Good luck for next week everyone

Well done Theresa,Marilyn and Tina~j,the pounds are coming off!
Don't give up,Jean,keep at it!

I've lost about 3 kgs. since I started-gone a bit slack this last week because of the bushfires though. It's all very depressing ..It's been so hot,and there's a constant smell of smoke in the air,for days,it makes you feel very uneasy if you think about it. Like many others here in Vic. I've spent a lot of time crying hearing all the stories on the news, but I have to move on.
I must try to be more cheerful, there are a lot of positive things coming out of these dreadful fires.Victorians have really banded together to help complete strangers who have lost everything,
and the community spirit has been strengthened in many places which have been completely decimated .It's not all gloom and doom!!

I gained .1 of a kilo because I didn't exercise very much.I will have to do better next week, and be a bit more disciplined.I want to lose 1 kilo next week!

Where is everyone?????

How are you all going????

Good luck for the rest of the week, don't give up,keep trying.

Best wishes, Margot xx.

WOW, Theresa, that is brilliant what are you doing ???? well done... I am going to see the nurse this week, its about 5 weeks since I started the programme, I have written down every thing I have eaten, no cheats ,and I have to say I dont think I have lost anything, my clothes are fitting just the same..... so I will see what she says...but I am eating very well and feeling more energetic, which for me is a big bonus.....I am able to walk much easier, so I suppose thats what we were hoping for. but I would like to be able to get in clothes I bought last year. I think there is too many calories for me ........fed up......

Hi all,

12th Jan ~~ 12st 7.5lb
19th Jan ~~ 12st 2.5lb
26th Jan ~~ 12st 2lb
2nd Feb ~~ 12st 1.5lb

Penny, it would take a lot to make me not fancy chocolate, but I will give it a try.

Tina, I did weigh myself again today and have stayed the same again, although I was convinced that I would have lost, my jeans feel slacker on me (I need a belt) and I have lost a bit of my stomach. It still would be nice to see the little dial on the scales coming down as well.

Think I may have a treat night, one night a week treat myself to a bar of chocolate of packet of mistrels or something, it would be something to look forward to once a week.

Mmm I can almost taste it, its like that advertisement, do you dream in chocolate.

Keep going everyone, keep up the good work.

Well done everyone - there are lots of lbs and inches coming off. Marilyn, I know how disappointing it is when the scales don't move, but looser fitting clothes is really what we are all after. Have you tried measuring yourself and keeping a note of it to see how many inches / centimetres you are losing? Rosemary Conley recommends taking loads of measurements - chest, waist, hips, widest part, arms, thighs and knees! It does lift your spirits when the scales don't seem to move.

I have had a much better week - 3lb off, making 6lb in total. The diets is not quite so hard now - the carb cravings have gone, so I don't want biscuits / cakes etc. Chocolate is the difficult one for me (like everyone else it seems!) but I find that the Weight Watchers frozen deserts (like double chocolate brownies) do the trick very well! They are fairly low calorie but feel very indulgent.

Discoburn aerobics is still enjoyable, and I can feel myself improving. I have even taken up Squash again after many many years of not playing. My eldest son is 14 and loves racquet sports and we have decided to make a regular Sunday morning date of it. At the moment I have the edge with power and technique, even though he is much faster and more agile. But he is ultra competitive and it won't be too long before he is able to wipe the floor with me!

Good luck everyone and keep up the good work

Tina xx

Marilyn

Eat chocolate the Paul McKenna way - just pretend it is covered in hair from the floor , worms, slime etc - puts you off :-))

Hi everyone, you all seem to be doing so well, losing lots of pounds and inches.

I still have not been tempted into having any sweets, chocolate or cakes, they were even trying to give away Thorntons toffee when I went to Manchester the other day, my daughter gave me a very surprised look when I said no thank you, was really pleased with myself for refusing.

The first week I lost 4lb, second put one on, third lost one and last week I stayed the same, cant seem to get going although I am doing everything right, I do feel that my clothes are slightly more loose on me though so something must be happening.

It is weigh day again tomorrow, so we will see what the scales say then, and if I havent lost anything again, that chocolate will be so inviting, but I will resist. Wonder if I can be hypnotised and when I wake up I will HATE chocolate.

Anyway, good luck to everyone, keep up the good work.

Well done Charlie - any tips to share on how you did it?

I am the same Theresa with the weekend.

I have asked OH not to offer me chocolate or tell me that a box/bar of chocolate is open. I have a box of Lindor by my bed which i got for Christmas. I m not tempted until it is opened !!!
