A Wee Chuckle for the day
Little Johnny watched, fascinated, as his mother smoothed cold cream on her face.
'Why do you do that, Mummy?' he asked.
'To make myself beautiful,' said his mother,
who then began removing the cream with a tissue.
'What's the matter?' asked Little Johnny.
'Giving up?'

Off to Stirling to complete my wee jobs for my daughter. Her house is huge and everthing is on a scale to match. The skirting boards are 15 inches deep. The doors are nearly 7 ft high and are 40 ins wide. The intricate mouldings are a pain to paint. Never mind.....stops me from getting bored ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) As if I ever have time to do that.
Have a good day ya all !

Just read this on another site......... made me cry again
OldBird Griffin
A poem for remembrance day “Please wear a poppy”, the old lady said And held one forth, but I shook my head Then I stopped and watched, to see how shed fare
Her face was old, and lined with care, Yet beneath the scars, the years had made There remained a smile that refused to fade. A boy came whistling down the street Bounding along on his carefree feet His smile was full of joy and fun “Lady” he said, “can I have one? As she pinned it on I heard him say “Why do we wear the poppy today?” The lady smiled in her wistful way And answered “this is remembrance day” “The poppy is the symbol for the, The gallant men and women who died in the war”. “And because they did we are free, that’s why we wear the poppy you see” “I had a boy about your size, with golden hair and big blue eyes, He loved to play and jump and shout, free as a bird he would race about” As the years went by he learnt and grew, and became a man as you will to”, He was fine and strong with a boyish smile, But he seemed to be with us a such a short while When the War broke out he went away I can still remember his face that day When he smiled at me and said goodbye “I will be back soon, so please don’t cry” But the War went on and he had to stay All I could do was wait and pray His letters told of an awful fight I can see it still in my dreams at night With the tanks and guns and the cruel barb wire And the mines and bullets, the bombs and the fire Until at last the War was won And that is why we wear the poppy son The small boy turned as if to go Then stopped and said “Thank you lady, I’m glad I know” That sure did sound like an awful fight “But your son, did he come home all right”? A tear rolled down each faded cheek, she shook her head But didn’t speak. I slunk away, head bowed in shame, And if you were me, you’d have done the same, For our thanks in giving is often delayed Though our freedom was bought by the legions who paid. And so, when you see a poppy worn Let us reflect on the burden borne By those who gave their precious all When asked to answer their countries call That we at home, in peace may live Then wear a poppy, remember, and give.

Morning Maddie and Stephen and everyone else who reads this I am a lucky lady in that I have no close family involved in dangers past or present, but I am so very greatful to all those who served. Through my research I have found a few in linked families who served and some who gave their lives for us all. But most poignantly when we have been in France we always go to the cemetaries there and then it makes you realise how many gave everything for us. So yes I wear my poppy with pride and like Maddie I will watch the parade and shed a tear too for those lost in our past and those more recently too. I watched the Royal British Legion programme last night and had a tear in my eye when the 6 year olds came on at the end and the little girl spoke, it was very moving.
We will Remembe rthem

Morning All.
I shall be remembering my Father, my Father in Law, and all my Uncles Today.
They all served. Both my Father, FIL, and two of my uncles were injured. My Uncle Dave gave his life for his Country.
I shall be watching the Cenotaph Service and bawling my eyes out.
Lest we Forget.

Remember Them
The Battles O'er
I return to the fields of glory, Where the green grass and flowers grow. And the wind softly tells the story, Of the brave lads of long ago. : March no more my soldier laddie, There is peace where there once was war. Sleep in peace my soldier laddie, Sleep in peace, now the battle's over. In the great glen they lie a sleeping, Where the cool waters gently flow. And the gray mist is sadly weeping, For those brave lads of long ago. See the tall grass is there a waving, As their banners of long ago. With their heads high a forward braving, Stepping lightly to meet the foe.
Some return from the fields of glory, To their loved ones who held them dear. But some fell in their hour of glory, And were left to their resting here.
March no more my soldier laddie, There is peace where there once was war. Sleep in peace my soldier laddie, Sleep in peace, now the battle's over.
RIP my Brothers

Afternoon all Dull and grim here too Stephen. Not nice and not raining but threatening to.
Been food shopping this morning tried a newly revamped Morrisons, quite good, nice fresh looking fruit and veg. Have just eaten a pomegranate and it was easy to peel and juicy. If you spend £60 you get a voucher for 15p 0ff a litre of fuel. So a big saving.
Must try to clear some garden today and tomorrow as it is garden recycling on Tuesday and we have an empty bin so far. Too cold and damp to get round to anything recently.
Have a good day everyone

Morning my friends, hope you are all ok, and will enjoy your weekend.
Just got back from seeing to the horses, was with them at 7 this morning, supposedly to muck out and feed, then turn them out for a few hours, but Scarlett wanted to go for a ride so we did, it was great, very quiet and peaceful, only the wildlife for company.
Stephen, sorry you are not feeling well, take care and keep warm.
Still no news from Rita, am really worried about her now.
Well I have to get some lunch and get ready for my afternoon with the samaritans. Chris has taken Scarlett to Oldham to see the Reindeer parade.
Take care and stay safe. Jean xx :-) :-) :-)
