Well I really hope all the poorly ones on here get well soon. Quite worried about Jean, Rita and Cath.
We still have snow lying here but I think it's because it is so cold rather than quantity, cos there isn't very much. At least the roads are fairly clear now.
Good luck to George and Sarah, I hope things work out well for you and that you can build a happy life together. Also that you sell your property if that's what you want to do.
I have been off line for a couple of days as I had to go and stay with my daughter, her partner was unwell and couldn't go near the baby only a 24 hour bug but bad timing. But yesterday was a turning point as feeding went really well and their dog came home from the in laws and that introduction went really well too.

All our family were here last night for our son's birthday and we had a gammon joint plus some dessert and birthday cake too.

Two weeks til our youngest's birthday now. So February is a busy month for us.

Hubby is back to the osteopath this morning, but is much better.

Busy knitting again, need to make some bigger things and get a small back up of new born items, as so many little ones seem to be coming along now. My cousin in Canada is waiting for her third grandchild due in May. I have sent things for the first two so need some more this time.

Oh well wishing everyone a brighter morning than the last couple have been very dull and overcast here.

Retardment ? (Retirement)

After Christmas, a teacher asked her young pupils to
write an essay on how they Spent their holiday away from school.

One child wrote the following:

We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa.

They used to live in a big brick house but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to Batemans Bay where everyone lives in nice little houses, and so they don't have to mow the grass anymore!

They ride around on their bicycles and scooters and wear name tags because they Don't know who they are anymore.

They go to a building called a wreck center, but they must have got it fixed
Because it is all okay now. They do exercises there, but they don't do them very well.

There is a swimming pool too, but they all jump up and down in it with hats on.

At their gate, there is a doll house with a little old man sitting in it. He
Watches all day so nobody can escape. Sometimes they sneak out, and go cruising In their golf carts!

Nobody there cooks, they just eat out. And, they eat the same thing every night --- early birds.

Some of the people can't get out past the man in the doll house. The ones who do get out, bring food back to the wrecked center for pot luck.

My Grandma says that Grandpa worked all his life to earn his retardment and says I should work hard so I can be retarded someday too.

When I earn my retardment, I want to be the man in the doll house. Then I will let people out, so they can visit their grandchildren.

I've been over Sarah's for a few days, thinking of moving in with her.
I am rattling round in a three bed cottage on my own for far too long :-( :-( so, after long discussions have decided to move in with Sarah. :-D :-D :-D
She has a new apartment in Basingstoke, extremely nice, so time to get rid of my place :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D.

Hope everyone had a brilliant weekend and enjoyed making snowmen in the little dusting of snow we had :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D.

Hello everyone.

I have had a really bad attack of a flu like virus. I dont know when I have felt so ill..? my sister was worried I would get pneumonia I satd I will try not too. but I have not been able to do anything except cook my meals and sleep. I must have caught this last Tuesday when I was at the hospital or at the shops on Saturday. she has phoned every day to make sure I was OK, ? she has been booking one of our holidays. this will be to Eastbourne. . she said that should cheer you up. I found a small bottle of whisky in the cupboard. so I am going to have some of that tonight and hope it helps get rid of this.I am not a drinker. so I will leabe my tablets off for tonight.

Not had much sleep alnight and still dont feel tried :-S

I am off to family history group this afternoon. Got to get bit of shopping as well.

I am over at Teris tomorrow picking Caitlin up from school. They have a open /afternoon/eveing so school closeing at 1.30. Think thats bad to shut it. Teri will be at her course and dont come out until 2.30.I will be staying the night,then going to Kew next day.

Marilyn hope you are well. I got to get new glasses. Havent had the money, but have now. So i am getting Teri to come with me to help me pick some glasses. I wear contract lenes when i am out.

Hi Huia....Glad your OK, I'm trying to sort out paper work for someone's tree and not getting anywhere so I'm chucking the whole lot it away until I feel like doing it again I got bored with this particular tree not very exciting ..LOL :-S

Just going to bed now I'm fed up ....got the hump !! LOL too long on this lappy all I got to do is close the lid ....how hard is that ?

I'm still around Marilyn, reading but not posting much. Yesterday I was trying to sort out some of the paper stuff I have. I added a lot of relatives from the '81 census to the Lost Cousins site. Still havent had any contacts though. Today I am going to our gen rooms in Papakura to do a little research for somebody, then visit Phil after lunch. Time I went and got ready to go.

It was so cold over the week end. I cranked over the gas fire and stayed sat on the settee. I was very cosy :-D

Afternoon everyone.

I've been out walking again.

I put on half a stone at Christmas (just a shot in the dark like but I think it was something to do with those 3 boxes of chocolates I ate) and I can't get my weight back to normal. I've been out walking for 3 hours a day, most days, and I haven't lost an ounce. I'm about 3 inches shorter though because I've worn my legs away. :-)

Thank you for letting us know about Jean, Mo, sorry to hear she isn't any better, I hope she starts to improve soon.

Marilyn, tell Pete that age aint nothing but a number.

Hazel, the twins look lovely.............. double the pleasure.

I had a message from Jean's daughter saying that Jean is not getting any better. The doctor wants her to go into hospital, but Jeni doesn't much fancy that. From what Susan said, I gather the local hospital is not very nice.
Bless her Jeni has not been right since way before christmas.

I love to photo of the babies Hazel, they look sooo cute and cosy. You could almost cuddle them to bits couldn't you.

Linda, I hope Sebastion is progressing well, and fitting into all the knitted bits you have made him. I bet he is lovely and snuggly warm in them.

The snow is slowly clearing here, and as long as it doesn't freeze tonight, hopefully we may be rid of it by tomorrow.
