True words Stephen and so true every word you said is right. the loss of these brave men is a lost to this country . Their families must be devastated it must be hell for them.
These cowards as they are hide behind masks and women and children while these young men and women put their lives at risk by trying to get the people a peaceful country.to live in.
so very sad.

Morning All !
A sad day for some folk in the Uk to have lost their loved ones through an act of Cowardice in Afghanistan.
And I use the word COWARDICE unreservedly.
If someone wants to kill me and faces me with a Gun or Bayonet then I admire him for his bravery.
If he plants a bomb without telling me of his intentions to kill me then he is a COWARD.
To those brave lads now dead, May you rest in Peace.
For those left in grief because of the COWARDLY MURDERERS ...........my heart and Prayers go out to you.

every Christmas I sent shoe boxes of small gifts to soldiers out in Afganistan I asked they be given to those who had no one or had few letters and parcels I have sent post cards when I have been on holiday in and around England I had a lovely letter from a colour sargent and also from a priest thanking me for doing this. He said if you could see the faces of some of these young men as they are very young some of them. who didnt get much mail or gifts you would realise how much it meant to them. I have those letters they mean a lot to me.
when I hear news like this my heart goes out to their famlies who have lost a loved one..
RIP

Evening all,
Managed to get on here at last :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(
Yes, bad news AGAIN about our troops, but we will never win over there, the Russians tried and failed, and I don't think our troops are capable of winning either, sorry to say, we are against hardened fanatical fighters. :-( :-( :-(
Hope everyone has had a cracking day :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Morning all, dark and wet here.
Stephen, quite a lot of that chuckle applies to me........... and I'm only 29 (next birthday).
Cath, I don't seem to be having any problems getting on the thread, the only thing wrong is that it's slow to load.
Aww Jean, that'll be a lovely party........... do you want to sit in my house till it's over? :-) :-)
George, you sound very happy, I'm pleased for you. I thought Rita was talking about you when I read what she said............. I wondered what you were doing in her laundry room. :-)

A Wee Chuckle for the day
I'm the life of the party... even when it lasts 'till 8pm.
I'm very good at opening childproof caps with a hammer.
I'm usually interested in going home before I get to where I'm going.
I'm good on a trip for at least an hour without my aspirin, antacid...
I'm the first one to find the bathroom wherever I go.
I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up.
I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a word you're saying.
I'm very good at telling stories...over and over and over and over.
I'm aware that other people's grandchildren are not as bright as mine.
I'm so cared for: long-term care, eye care, private care, dental care.
I'm not grouchy, I just don't like traffic, waiting, children, politicians...
I'm positive I did housework correctly before the Internet.
I'm sure everything I can't find is in a secure place.
I'm wrinkled, saggy and lumpy, and that's just my left leg.
I'm having trouble remembering simple words like... uh...
I'm realizing that aging is not for sissies.
I'm walking more (to the bathroom) and enjoying it less.
I'm sure they are making adults much younger these days.
I'm in the *initial* state of my golden years: SS, CD's, IRA's, AARP.
I'm wondering, if you're only as old as you feel, how could I be alive at 150?
I'm anti-everything now: anti-fat, anti-smoke, anti-noise, anti-inflammatory.
I'm a walking storeroom of facts... I've just lost the key to the storeroom.
I'm a Senior Citizen and I think I am having the time of my life... Aren't I?

That is nice to hear you like your new home George. it is nice to be near buses and trains. your not stuck somehere and not able to get around. I have one complaint at where I live. busest on a sunday. I think there is four for the whole day. so if you go somehwere you have to hang about for a couple of hours waiting for the bus.. but you seem very happy there so that is nice and you have Sara.
It has been cold here but sunny. I had to laugh at you saying you thought I was speaking about you ? when I mentioned George. he is a nice man reitred a Dr from Cambridge University. but so essentric it makes me laugh. but hs is very nice.
Good Night. ;-) ;-)

Evening all,
What a cracking day it has been :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
I have decided that I am beginning to enjoy living here, especially in a nice warm apartment as opposed to a drafty cottage, I know there is no garden, then again I am a rubbish gardener :-D :-D I like the idea of just across the road is the town centre and bus station, makes it brilliant for getting around :-D :-D :-D
Hope everyone has had a brilliant day today :-D :-D :-D
George :-) :-) :-) :-)

Good afternon everyone, trust you are all well. Rita, my scan was clear again, dont have another one until beginning of June. on 3 monthly ones now. We have had sunshine this morning but starting to go a little cloudy now, think rain is forecast for later tonight and tomorrow. Scarlett will be 2 on Saturday, where has the time gone? seems like only last week I went to see her when she was 3 days old and still in hospital. Rita you must be feeling very tired now with not sleeping well last night, take things easy for the rest of today. Take care and stay safe. Jean xx :-) :-) :-)

Not sure Marilyn if it is St Anthony ? I know the St Jude prayer .
Cheaper by the dozne Linda all these babies lol still it give you something to knit I know you like knitting. keeps your finger nimble.
I have had problems with my parents grave (would you beleive) my sister and I thought we would make it easier for us, to have marble stones put on the family grave with a marble vase, .we have a nice marble surround and headstone on it. my son paid for that. Dad died in 2001 so we had it all done then. We had to apply to the council (as your not allowed to do anything your self it goes through the council ) so last October we sent of a cheque for just under £300. My sister inquired at the council why they had done nothing about it yet ? had our cheque ? we were told they didnt know who owned the grave? (. we have the receipt of the payment when Dad brought the land in 1947 signed by the then Mayor with a book number and grave number.? My Grandmother and Aunty are buried there the last one was my Father. ) they would not accept me although I am the elder daughter, they would not accept my sister but she signed the death certificate, and they would not do the work till they found the owner.. we heard now my younger son has been accepted as the owner,
I said it appears we must add our grave to our will ? it would be funny if it had not caused us a lot of worry.
talk about red tape.
