Lovely thoughts and memories of yours too Rita. I am sure they know now as we all do similar things too. I know I have myself. My parents also lost a daughter at birth and she was hardly mentioned, but there were six other children to fend for. But when I lost my brother aged 22 yrs, then Dad closed up and never really spoke of him ever again. Mum didn't either and that was so hard it was as if he never existed. But Mum now has pictures and I am trying to find ways to talk to her of him without upsetting her.
It is a beautiful day today. I have actually hung washing in the garden. I also did a lot of ironing too.
Our son is coming this afternoon to hopefully set up the laptop. I can use it but it doesn't have everything on it like my photos. Then we might go for a walk with his spaniel too.
Have a lovely afternoon everyone whatever you do.

Stephen that is such a lovely piece of writing and Oh so true.. .I often sit in my chair and my mine wanders back to the days I was growing up. I recall the things Mother or Father talked to me about.
I can see them now struggling to make ends meet. At the time maybe I was too young to understand Maybe I was just a selfish teenager
I loved my parents dearly and often wonder? did I truly show them how I felt. ? the things I did. ,. did they know I did it for them ?
Could they understand how sometimes I told little white lies that were meant to give them piece of mind. ? If a member of the family remarked on something that I didnt like. I hid it from my parents.incase it hurt them.
They never spoke of the son they lost at birth. it was too painful to them
They gave up so much for my sister and me, They taught us the true value of the word Friendship and Love and self respect.
I have tried during my lifetime to do all the things they taught me as a child. I hope I have done just that ? i HAVE CERTAINLY TRIED.
Now I am no longer young and look back I feel more content as I recall the day my dear Mother died of cancer. her last words to me was .look after your Father and dont forget to buy him a birthday present for me..which I did.
When my father was dying of cancer he said I am so lucky to have had two wonderful daughters .
I miss them so much, and wish that I could tell them that I have travelled a road long and hard.but for what they taught me I might not have grown into the person I now am.

A Few thoughts to Ponder over today
Do I like getting older ?
As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself.
I've become my own friend. I have seen too many dear friends leave this world, too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging. Whose business is it, if I choose to read, or play, on the computer, until 4 AM, or sleep until noon?
I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 50, 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love, I will. I will walk the beach, in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves, with abandon, if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old. I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten.
And, I eventually remember the important things. Sure, over the years, my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break, when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car?
But, broken hearts are what give us strength, and understanding, and compassion. A heart never broken, is pristine, and sterile, and will never know the joy of being imperfect. I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face.
So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver. As you get older, it is easier to be positive.
You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong. So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become.
I am not going to live forever, but whileI am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been,or worrying about what will be.
MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART!

Hello everyone, thank you very much for your birthday wishes for Scarlett. we have had a great day, the party went very well in spite of one 3 year old thinking it was very funny to 'flick' ice cream at the girls. It was supposed to finish at 5 but as the kids were still having fun with a friend who came to make animals out of balloons when the parents started to arrive, it was wine all round for them whilw they waited, the last ones left just after 7. I am knackered now, but it was worth it. Again thank you for your kind thoughts and messages. Good night, God bless. Angels on your pillow. Jean xx :-) <3 :-) <3 :-)

Hi Patricia
lucky you to go to Brighten. In 1945 we started going as a famiy my Dad brought a tent and use to cycle with all the gear in a trailer behind him. while my Mother and sister and myself went by train .the Brighten Express I think it was called.? Dad left early in the morning and when we arrived at Shepcote Valley the tent was already up. we had a lot of camping holidays there . must have been about 1948 my first holiday without them was to a holiday camp in Lowestoft " Potters " where all the bowling now comes from. but I still went on holiday with them to Brighton. It has changed so much since then.

Hi Foggy I love the sound of Bag pipes my favourite is when they play The Blue Bells of Scotland and Amazing Grace. it makes me cry. I dont think I would like to hear all the 130 different ones playing together as they all have a different tone.
hope your keeping well.

Hello everyone, I've been away on a five day coach trip to Brighton. I've only ever been there before on day trips and I had never stayed there. The hotel was in a good sopt. More or less opposite Brighton Pier :-D The weather was quite good. It was windy but it only rained on Wednesday. Unfortunately it's back to work on Monday :-P

chilly here.. I am off out to post some birthday cards 5. two to go to Norfolk so I want to make sure they all go.and get there by their birthdays.
Had my scan appointment in this morning for 2nd of next month. the trouble with that is you have to wait a whole month for the results.
have a good day.. does Scarlett need help blowing her two candles out ~? she will have to get nanny to help her.

Good Morning All Happy Birthday Scarlett, hope you enjoy your party. Jean don't play too many games !! Dull here too Maddie. Got the washing on. But think it will still be inside. Out after lunch to celebrate a friends fathers 100th birthday. Seeing old friends too there. Not sure what else today holds. Have been back doing some research to find that Ancestry has a lot of London Electoral listings now. So finding address and others living in the same house, if not neighbours just yet. All quite exciting.
Have a good day everyone

Very grey this morning, but not cold. Hurrah.

A Wee Chuckle for the day
I recently turned 65 and had to choose a new primary care physician for my Medicare program.
After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing "fairly well" for my age.
A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him............
"Do you think I will live to be 80?"
He asked: Do you smoke tobacco or drink alcoholic beverages?"
"Oh no," I replied. "I don't do drugs, either."
"Do you have many friends and entertain frequently?"
"I said, "No, I usually stay home and keep to myself".
"Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?"
I said, "No, my other doctor said that all red meat is unhealthy!"
"Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?"
"No, I don't," I said.
"Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?"
"No," I said. "I don't do any of those things."
He looked at me and said..........................................,
"THEN WHY DO YOU CARE IF YOU REACH 80 OR NOT?
:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
