Its lovely and sunny here today, so I think I'll be in the garden most of the day.

I actually woke up 9am quite good for my Jet Lag, so I'm hoping to not fall asleep during the day ! :-)

MO I am pleased they are sorting your son out. maybe they are sending him to the other hospital because they may deal in the heart more so then the other hospital nearby?

I have to go into Guildford once every three months after my scan at Ashford Hospital to see what the results are.? St Lukes is a main cancer hospital they have a cancer reseach lab there as well. there are two other hospital nearer to me but I was sent to this one because I was told it was one of the best.


Stephen I am pleased to see you are still with us.it seems you have got some results from GR lets hope they manage to do as they say they are going too. ? They have had so many complaints recently. RR's and people nor getting onto the boards. when they do they often get the Eorror message come up. it is frustrating when you spend half and hour trying to get onto the site. Then type something out and find you cannot submit it as that old error comes up again.

The weather is nice this morning .

I would have been married 61 years today so I feel a bit down that John is no longer with me.he died in 1989 in Norfolk of a heart attack.

Hi Folks.....a wee update.....I have posted the following on a General Thread

I have complained to Gr about the operation of the technical side of the business and have reached the stage of being totally peeeeedddd off with them.
I received a reply that was an insult to my intelligence.. You can read that on the 'Friendly Thread' if you can actually Log-on to the Thread......which is one of my complaints.
I am researching my family name.....'Barr'......but when I search that say for New Zealand as an example I get all sort of combinations.........

Not being entirely stupid......when I search for 'Barr' in New Zealand that's what I expect to get......not Barrett or 'Barriball' etc etc.
Come on GR get your act together.
The site is supposed to be run for the paying members not for staff playing around with supposed 'development' work.
You have already lost subscribers and will lose more unless the site is fixed out.

Hello everyone,
Just a quickie to let you know that my laptop is in for repairs, and I am on my sons at the moment. I will be back as soon as possible.
The news on my son is as follows...... he has an enlarged heart,with a partially blocked artery. He still has the peri cardicarditus, and I dont know how they intend to do it, but they say they may have to drain the fluid away if it doesn't clear.
He has to see a heart specialist in Tonbridge Wells, as soon as an appointment is made for him.
We have a hospital about ten minutes away from us, but they are sending him all the way to Tunbridge Wells. But if he gets seen sooner there, I will be grateful to them.
He has to return to his doctor on monday, to see if he can return to work, or if he will be signed off till he sees the specialist.
I will say cheerio to you all, and will be back as soon as possible. Love Mo xxx

Busy day
Gym first thing
Then hubby drove to Boscombe near Bournemouth. We had luch near the promenade. But it was so busy. Don't think anyone works now. More like the weekend or a holiday.
So drove back to The New Forest, there had been a crash near Rhinfield, on the main road so we diverted through Rhinefield and stopped for a drink and we sat in the forest in the sun, reading and I did some crochet. Making blankets for the tiny babies in ICU now. Using up some spare wool from making things for our babies.

I must admit I don't seem to have any trouble getting into friendly the only thing I do get sometimes is when I have posted on thread I sometimes get Purple ERROR sign ....but if I carry on as if nothing has happened that message just get printed as usual..

Rita you must try that as I saw you mention you had the Purple Error come up as well,just carry on as usual ....then check back just to see if your message has been printed.

I've had a busy day today .......done loads of silly things, like changing appointments etc....phoning all sorts of people, one a hair dresser ,but was told she's left !! and they had loads of evidence on her !!!!!!! So looks like she's been a naughty girl

I have managed to call up this thread without any problems. Please could you try clearing your browsing history and then sign back in to the site again. This is different according to which browser you're using, so please refer to the help pages for your browser to find out how to do this. We are really sorry that you haven't received any Hot Matches for a long time. We had to stop them running as we had performance issues with the site.
The development team have just started to run them again but they won't be run every 14 days. What they are going to do is take 50 names randomly from your tree and send out matches with these names. They will match place of birth and you'll also get some super hot matches. The names Smith and Jones won't be included. It's a rolling program so it might take some time before you receive any.
I do hope you receive some soon.

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems finding names in our records section. We do suggest that you try and keep your initial search as broad as possible. So, why not try removing some of your search criteria?

Here is an example to demonstrate how you might be searching followed by our suggestion for searching.

Before:
Name: James Charles Rogerson
Year of birth: 1880
Keyword: Mapperley, Nottingham

After:
Name: James Rogerson
Year of birth 1880 +/- 5 years
Keyword: Nottingham

As you can see the key details are there, but without so much information. If you wanted to make it broader then you could remove the forename or the place.

I logged on this morning and running through the boards I see once again RR's are again appearing. I think before long GR will have to do something aout it, ? otherwise they will lose members I have recommended GR when people tell me they are going to start family research. I have also told them about the boards they can use. but now I think I had better not say anything.
what with that and the errors that keep coming up.and people trying to get onto Genreral Chat.
I have noticed more of the regulars on FF thread are leaving or we dont hear from them much now
Anyway I hope my friends are all well this morning or on the the mend if you have been ill..
I am expecting the man from the windows people to come this morning and do some repairs I wonder if the fog will keep him away. hope not.

just unpacked ......never thought I would do things so easily....we were going to stay in a Hotel in Heathrow for the night but decided a coach had availability to travel down to Plymouth.
Got into Heathrow this morning and all went like clockwork !!! :-D

I've seen all my lovely Daffodils & Tulips ..Wow they look great but do need watering so tomorrow if my jet lag is fairly good I might get and give then a good drink .

Stephen I take it your leaving ?the site. ? I for one will be sad to see you go and so will many others on Friendly.

I quiet agree that GR has got worse since everyone is now complaining about the site.this error that comes up time and time again. then you cannot submit . all this makes things hard for memebers of GR.

We have the system changed again and again suppose to be for the better, but it is harder for us to get anywhere with the new systems. GR should sit up and make notes.

Once again I feel I must write to complain of my total dissappointment of how the Technical side of GR is being operated.

There is GREAT difficulty at time s Logging - On particularly to the Friendly Thread.

I am not alone in making this observation.

Also there has neen no Hot Matches for months and months..

When researching my family for example 'Barr' other names are thrown in because they are phonetically simlair ie Barron, Barn, etc etc.

That is no use whatever to me. I get perhaps 60 or 70 names with only a few 'Barrs' amongst them.

I feel that when my Membership is up I will not be renewing this unless things change for the better with the GR operation
