Evening All !!
Did Ok this week managed to loose another pound. Slowly but surely. Considering I ate out 5 times this week I'm pleased. Think I must finally be making better choices about what I eat and portion sizes.

Got two birthday gifts today. I now have a lovely new sparkly watch, more like a bracelet. And I am the proud owner of a Kindle. Ready for my holiday reading, without having to carry heavy books, as I always read more while I am away.

another wet day, did manage to get the children out during lunchtime for 1/2 hour before it started to rain too much.

Went to work yesterday, a few extra hours pay this week :-)

son went to the new shopping centre in Stratford (round the corner from Shelly) with one of his friends, there was a car thing going on, driving simulators and new cars. They enjoyed it, my son likes his cars.

Hazel I read in your post that you have Gurr in your family so do I, 2 of my Hayes rellies married into the Gurrs in the late 1800's. Mary Hayes m George Gurr in 1893 in Kent and Clara Hayes m Edward Gurr in 1900 also in Kent.

I am still cleaning house of rubbish ......trying to tackle the loft , and getting no where fast ,I keep wanting to keep things instead of throwing away ..LOL

My sisters daughter came and took some rugs this afternoon....she was well pleased .

Happy St Georges Day. When I was a guide we went to Church Parade on St Georges Day. Parading through the streets carrying the flag. Happy Days.

May I say a Happy St Georges Day to all of us English.

When we were at school many mnay years ago we dressed in our guides or brownies. cubs or scouts uniforms we proudly martched around the
playground. and our Vicar said prayers and we all sang our Hearts out.
The favourite was There always be an England.
I still have the Red/White and Blue wide ribbons that were hung on the walls.in our House.

Now it appears this is no longer done incase it upsets other people from different countries.?I dont think they would mind.

I have background of Scottish and Irish and Welsh and I alway think how nice it is that we can celebrate our own Day. but we are still British

Photo shoot was fun yesterday. Hope she got some good shots, usually hate having my photo taken. But it was quite relaxed.

3 Blind (drunk) Mice

Three macho mice are sitting at a bar discussing just how tough they were.

The first mouse slams a shot and says: "I play with mouse traps for fun. I'll run into one on purpose and as it is closing on me, I grab the bar and bench press it 20 to 30 times." And, with that, he slams another shot.

The second mouse slams a shot and says: "That's nothing. I take those poison bait tablets, cut them up, and snort them, just for the fun of it." And, with that, he slams another shot.

The third mouse slams a shot, gets up, and turns to walk away.

"Where the hell do you think you're going?" ask his friends.

The third mouse stops and replies: "I'm going home to beat up the cat."

Fantastic day in the hills with all the family yesterday. Even had my wee lassies rockclimbing. They are fearless. Had them on a rock outcrop that I used to practice on years ago The rocks haven't changed a bit, but I certainly have......I have about as much wrinkles as they have ROFL ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Gonna work up the enthusiasim to do a bit more gardening today......the low maintenance areas that I have planned are still being developed.....the end result will be worth it though :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Its Bloody freezing here today.. :-S

I'm still cleaning out all drawers & the loft has taken a hammering !!

I have just found some USA dollar 1oz silver coins...worth according to the Internet £15-20....so I shall keep all three for another 10years and it might make me a millionaire LOL :-D

Pete has found some Gold Cuff links of his father he was presented them when he retired, he was a Scientific Officer ...
His main interest was of Esperanto he translated GK Chesterons book " The Innocence Of Father Brown" how clever was he ?? LOL which his brother has got.

But sadly died of Alzheimers, but such a brilliant clever man....

Funny how things like clearing out cupboards make you think of times gone by .

Feeling bit better today. Not in so much pian hope it last. As need to go over the shops to buy some inks for printer as run out last night. Also got to get milk etc.

My new picture is of my grandad Gurr (tall man on right) and his sister, brother and mum and dad sitting.

Sunny at the moment here said rain later so hope i get to shops and back be for it starts.

Marilyn i will take it easy. It helps that i dont have grand children this weekend.Well so far i havent.

A Wee Chuckle for the day

Is there anyone up there?

Stephen had a major mishap on his first day of mountain climbing.

He slipped from a highish peak and fell twenty feet, stopping himself only by grabbing hold of a very, very small clump of bushes.

There he hung, every second expecting the bushes to snap and send him hurtling hundreds of feet to his death.

'Is there anyone up there? Is there anyone who can help me? Is there anyone at all?'

Suddenly the heavens boomed with the sound of a mighty voice:

'I am the Almighty. I am here to help you, Stephen.

Trust me. Let go of the bush and let yourself drop and I will catch you in my arms and carry you safely to earth!'

Stephen pondered for a while, and then said,............

'I appreciate the offer. But is there anyone else up there?'

Beautiful here so far, sun shining, but the forecast isn't good nor for the rest of the week according to hubby. So enjoy it while you can.

Up early we are cooking a huge pot of chilli as the family are coming midday for a photo shoot. Thought we'd have late breakfast then feed everyone after.

Must do some ironing as tops need to look smart.

Managed to get a white top and black trousers in M&S yesterday. Got 2 prs trousers but had to take one back as size 16 in one style fits perfectly, could poss have got 14 !!! BUT siez 18 in other far too small and when took back they didn't have a 20, maybe they were trying to tell me something. Think they are changing styles again as many had different labels that looked like a new branding?

We have put off climbing Ben Venue in celebration of my Fifty Years of Mountaineering until the weather gets better. I want my grand daughters to enjoy that day and remember it for the rest of their lives :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
