Morning all my friends Well the wanderer returns. Fabulous time. Venice was amazing but very expensive. The Greek Islands were nice to see, but have made us decide that we wouldn't want to spend a lot of time on at least 2 of them. Very hot very dry very rocky, no green to speak of and no rain for about 6 months of the year !!! Hear your weather has been better since last weekend. So glad as we all needed some sunshine. Our garden looks great thanks to a neighbour.
Have the first wash on already. Up before 6:00 as we had 2 one hour clock changes whilst away. One in Venice then a second when we left for Greece.
Oh we actually went to Olympia and saw where the Olympic flame was started before we had all our torch runs !! And where the original Olympics came from.
Have a good day everyone. Need to read back and see what you've all been up to.

I didn't think it was very good at first, Rita, but it did get better as the night went on.
I have to agree with Maddie about Paul McCartney though............. he's passed it and needs to give up. I could have sang better than that and I'm tone deaf.
I thought the lighting of the cauldron was brilliant.

Hello Foggy
Many people in my family enjoyed the opening of the games. I didnt. some of my family enjoyed it;. I did not . I felt it was too machinery history. and dull. half way through was much better But people watching that did not know much about British History must have wondered what it was all about.? It was to me like looking back at the beginging of Unions.. sorry I dont have much time for them. they were good when they started but went too far afterwards. I wonder how many ordinary people watching knew what it was all about that live abroad..
Lets hope we gain lots of medasl Gold Silver or Bronze any will do. good luck to all our performers.
Many of our roads are closed due to the cycling.
Pauline I hope your soon be feeling better.take care,
.

Morning everyone
I am odd out becuase I didnt like the opening of the Games. such doom and gloom who is interested in the history of Britian ? *I love History but that jumped about it also contained mostly flashing and the sound went off now and again I enjoyed the singing but all the other I thought was a waste of time and money. and God save out King did I really hear that ? the Queen didnt look happy at that either. not the childrens fault but the singing teacher. I know the children were death bless them. but KING.
No sorry I am not impressed. I expect the guy will received a gong for putting that together.
I hope the Games turn out better.

Morning....
Well what a fabulous Olympic opening .....I watched all through and was absolutely entertained I loved the story it told.....Brilliant !!
The Queen was a bit miserable but then she had just flown in a helicopter ;-)
The Lightening of the torch Flame was the best that I have ever seen the envy of the world I would say...
Maddie.... I did agree with you about Paul now surely they could have played his record ,nobody would have known any difference, I bet he's mimed many a time .
So let the games commence . :-D
Hope you all managed to watched it ...... :-D
Hi Pauline sorry you haven't been well... We thought you were having time out !
Got to get cracking .........

Anyway good morning friends :-D Nice and sunny down here again, so maybe a BBQ this evening. Pauline sorry you are not too good at the moment, take it easy and rest. Rita my M-I-L is like you, gets terrible nosebleeds from the warfarin she takes. They can go on for hours and she gets quite scared.
The Olympic opening ceremony was great, didn't think I would watch it but was glued to T.V. Nice for the young athletes to light the flame.
Must dash, shopping for lunch and then a quick visit to DIY store for paint. Have a lovely day folks, <3 <3

Morning All,
Bit overcast here, but hope it holds off for the Olympics.
So what did you think of the Opening Ceremony? I sat and watched all of it, over 3 hours! Got a numb bum by the end.
Enjoyed most of it, but got really irritated that the announcements were in French before English. Apparently all Olympics do that.
Poor old Paul could not hit the high notes, and I think Hey Jude is such a dirge of a song, and I am his greatest fan!
So, the Games proper begin today, looking forward to the swimming later.
Have a good day all, hope everyone is well. Welcome back Pauline :-)
See ya later.

Hi Maddie......I love the Games !! I'm glued to the TV as I speak.
I'm going to my sisters for dinner but I have to come home to my TV for the Opening Ceremony tonight as my TV bigger than hers!! and I have HD .
I have plenty of wine & nibbles stocked up ....I'm really excited...we have TOM DALEY the diver that lives near me and goes to the same school as my Grandson, so will be watching that with encouragement for his lovely family sadly his DAD died this year with Cancer.
Rita I thought you would love the Olympics somehow I'm surprised how you would be glad when its over .. :-S Mind you I mainly like the Athletics & Swimming, but all of it I'll be watching .....I wanted to be an Athlete when I was younger as I used to run in any race that was going ...LOL Even the Mums races at my boys School in their summer sports :-D
Now Rita ...Have a nice Cuppa....(_)? and switch on the telly and enjoy it all at Tower Bridge now :-D

Morning Stephen, shame on you, telling blonde jokes. lol
Poor Rita, BBC1 is dedicating themselves to the Olympics. Eastenders is moving to BBC2 you will be pleased to know.
Glad you are a bit brighter this morning. Its amazing what a good nights sleep can do. Still very sticky here in the City. Went out earlier and got my £10 Meal Deal. lol
The signature tune for the Olympics is quite jolly. It is composed by a group called Muse, and recorded with the BBC Orchestra. I like it anyway.
I shall be watching the Opening Ceremony with a drink in my hand! I believe we have dancing patients and nurses, and sheep in a field. Also Mr Hunt has just said we have a great heritage in this country from Shakespeare to Charles Dickens to Harry Potter! Oh dear, his education is sadly lacking!!!!!!!
Have a good day all, and try and sit through SOME of the Games!
:-)

Morning. I will be pleased when the day is finished and the opening gets off for the games that means it will be nearer finishing.. I am sick already of adverts, snips of old games, old films and new of sport. so many replays of this games BBC have all day of games and replays. we get it down out throats in between programes at the moment, I wish they would give it a miss and wait till the games start.
Last night was super I slept all night. I had a shower and washed my hair in the evening I watched some old programes on channel 10 then went to bed and woke at 8 this morning I cannot recall the last time I did that.
The weather well what can I say. it is dull and overcast although still warm.my son thought he would take the day off work (one of his holiday days ) to take the family to Bournemouth and look what had happened to the weather he is so unlucky when he goes on holiday in England or off for the day.
Matilyn I always put cream on one side of my scone and jam on the other and push them together. I love Cornish Pastries. they hang over the side of the plate and are yummy.
off now for a cup of tea. just had my cereal.
Have a good day.

A Wee Chuckle for the day
One day 3 women went to the top of a helter skelter at the fairground.
There was a black haired, brown haired, and a blonde haired woman.
When they got to the top a genie appeared from nowhere and said, "It's your lucky day!, when you're going down the ride shout out the one thing that you want and lo! you will land in it at the bottom".
So the black haired woman went down and shouted "money" and landed in a load of cash,
The brown haired woman went down and shouted "gorgeous men!" and landed in a pile of model men.
The blonde woman wasn't listening to the genie so she went down shouting "Weeeeeee!"
:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Cream Teas, yummy!
I would eat them every day, except for my sylph like figure, #chokes coughing# lol
We managed to polish off a bottle of Rose, a bag or liquorice allsorts and a Cornetto each. Amazing how this warm weather brings out the pig in one!
I'm a little on the pink side I must admit, slathered aftersun on my arms and my nose.
Pleased to see you back George, we were poor little lambs who had lost their way.................
Keep well Rita, I'm still on the asprin every day, especially in the warm weather.
Sleep well everyone.
Night night <3
