I was surprised when I logged on this morning and could not go any further than 31st July 2008 My emails that came from GR memebers and through there site didnt open. how strange is that.?

I thought I would try again and see what happens.. I watched the sculls and cried when Glover and Stanning got the gold. Felt sad for the rowers as they were all sure they would get the gold and ended up with the Bronze. but to me that great.

The sun is out here. hope your getting some.
have a good afternoon and evening.

A Wee Chuckle for the day

The Old Man and the Sea

A seaman meets a pirate in a bar, and they take turns to tell their adventures on the seas.

The seaman notes that the pirate has a peg leg, hook, and an eye patch.

Curious, the seaman asks "So, how did you end up with the peg-leg?"

The pirate replies "I was swept overboard into a school of sharks. Just as my men were pulling me out, a shark bit my leg off".

"Wow!" said the seaman. "What about the hook"?

"Well...", replied the pirate, "We were boarding an enemy ship and were battling the other sailors with swords. One of the enemy cut my hand clean off."

"Incredible!" remarked the seaman. "How did you get the eye patch"?

"A seagull dropping fell into my eye", replied the pirate.

"You lost your eye to a seagull dropping?" the sailor asked.

"Well..." said the pirate, "That was my first day with the hook."

Morning everyone
Well the sun is out again this morning. Thank goodness. More washing done and already hanging out.
Good luck with the scan today Rita. Sorry you have been unwell again Pauline.
What can I add to the thoughts already expressed here Marilyn, so sorry for your son and his family. You would have thought using the safe the best thing, but nothing is sacred to some people. I do hope they are able to enjoy their holiday, even though it has been spoilt and a rotten experience. Must say we've been to Cyprus a few times (more than 3 years ago last time) and really liked it especially the Greek Cypriots, very friendly. But it wss getting expensive with the Euro.

I am copy and pasting from another post as some asked what our holiday was like:-
Italy was beautiful. We were in Venice for 2 days. Rather expensive but such an experience. Not sure what I expected, but it was all so different. No vehicles of any sort, just water transport and guys running around with wheeled trucks. And visitors with wheeled suitcases, ourselves included. We stayed just off St Marks Square. There weren't even any scooters for the young folk !! It was very lively, sometimes too many people, but beautiful early morning and at night too. Met some very friendly people, other visitors and local people and so many helped us when we arrived couldn't find our hotel but a kind German gentleman spent about an hour guiding us right to the door and wouldn't even have a drink !! Such a kind man.
We then went on a cruise to some Greek Islands. A day at sea, then Corfu, which was quite green and seemed nice. Next stop Santorini, we found this very hot and nothing much grows there except grapes and olives and cherry tomatoes. Next was Mykanos, very barren a granite rock island with volcanic sand beaches, We enjoyed a tasing of ouzo and greek snacks but don't think we'd want to stay there.
The last trip was at Katakolon and a coach ride to Olympia. Much greener and the Olympic site was very interesting and we saw where the Olympic flame was started. Then we went to a wine tasting and actually bought some olive oil.
Our last day was spent onboard the cruise ship again before getting back to Venice and our flight home.
The cruise was lovely. Very relaxing. Very good food. Expensive drinks !!! Amazing entertainment.... the shows and singers could easily be good enough to get onto a stage in The West End of London.
You might remember we were in Tuscany about 7 weeks ago, staying near Pisa, visited Florence and Volterra as well as Livorno.
We were just so fed up with the weather and as hubby has just retired decided to get away..... but you had good weather last week and Sunday I had trouble getting the washing dry with heavy rain and thunder storms here in the south east.

Good wishes to all my friends here Hope you all have a lovely day

Evening All.

What a strange old day.

Sun, rain, and thunder, all within a space of an hour.

Back to work today, got soaked coming home.

Just watched the swimming, Rebecca Adlington got Bronze. Shame. However, she seemed pleased just to get something in front of the home crowd.

Hope everyone is well.

Good night

Hi Mo..Yes I'm still watching BB juggling it around Olympics.

Linda......are you nice and tanned ?? :-D I knew Venice was its expensive my friend went there in May on a painting holiday. Now get back to them Dishes ..LOL :-D

Off to North Devon tomorrow for a few days, its going to rain :-S

Hi Foggy good to see your OK.

My son in Cyprus got burgled last night , a beautiful Villa so he tells me , but he was sick as a pig about it , they all went out for a meal 3 kids DIL & Son. came back and found doors all prized open the safe was ripped off of the wall prized open took 800 euro's about £400 what was for 2 weeks food & spending money for the kids.the passports were thrown into the swimming pool with their flight tickets for home.
Kids were all upset as they couldn't understand why any one should steal their holiday money....eldest grandson could'nt sleep last night frighten someone was going to come into his bedroom :-S
Police came and did some finger printing etc...

Travel company today has fitted new locks on all patio doors etc.
A sliver bracelet was taken & my sons car key from back home that's parked at the airport !!! why they wanted that I'll never know ....it only makes things difficult for when they arrive home.
Oh dear I wont be going to Cyprus EVER again

They are going to ring again tomorrow when things have settled down. :-S

Hello

I had trouble getting on we have that error notice appearing again. so I gave up.
We had a terrible storm this afternoon thunder and lightening. I thought of the ladies cycling around our country lanes they must have got soaking wet..

I watched the swimming events and the sculls also Volley ball and fencing and Archery. I am hoping we get some medals out of those. Sara Phillips did well., fingers crossed for her.

I didnt like the opening of the games. many people who dont know much about the dark history of this country would not know what it was all about/ ?so many people abroad didnt understand it.
My sister thought it was brillianrt but then she taught History and knew all about the plan and what took place. how many could put their hands up and say they knew .?
I can understand now why they put it on late children would not have understood.

I am off to get my scan tomorrow so if I dont come on your know I am not well.. these scans are starting to take a toll on me and make me feel ill afterwards. all the travelling worries me as I am scared I will be taken ill in the care car.
it means I am at the hospital and waiting about for ages without the hours travelling there and back.

Did you see the amount of empty seats in all events rows and rows of them. that is what comes of them making such a shambles on selling them and charging such high prices.I am speaking of the dearer seats now.

Hi everyone,
Good to see you back home Linda. I hope you didn't get sea sick on your cruise.

Marilyn and Shelly, I have just been reading your comments about B.B
Grrrr I would have been done for murrrder had I have been in that house with Caroline.
Stupid little bitch buying all that chocolate instead of proper food, knowing that she was bound to be evicted on Friday.
She definately should be getting some help psychologically, she's warped in the head.
I don't think I ever saw her brush her hair properly, it looked like rats tails.
Enough said about her whew.
And as for that garbage eating, miss piggy Becky, cor what can I say. If it's edible, it goes down her throat. No wonder she lurved Caroline getting all that chocolate.

Have a nice break away Marilyn.

Stephen, as for the gas bill for the Olympics, it is probably being paid by the likes of yourself and all of us tax payers.

It's good to see you back Pauline. Now please take it easy, and dont go over doing things.

Cath what are you painting now? Did you manage to get your paint the other day by the way.

Can I send any of you some rain, I am giving it away free. lol It's so overcast here, and has rained on and off all day.

I hope Rita is o.k, I notice she has not posted today.

A Wee Chuckle for the day

A man found a magic genie who would grant him one wish.

The man said to the genie

” I wish that I had a non-stop bridge from here to Americai."

The genie said,” I’m sorry, but that's going to be very hard.

Do you have another wish?"

The man answered,

"Of course!........ I want the power to understand all women."

The genie thought for a minute.

He replied, "How many platforms did you want on that bridge?"
